Politics / Women In The Face Of Outrageous Laws by minto(m): 5:10pm On Apr 03, 2009
Inspite of all advocacy in support of equal basic human right, women are still at the mercy of laws grossly offensive to the sense of right. They are most often ill-considered whenever these laws are being promulgated or so I think. I once asked myself; what exonerates the men while women are being punished for sexual misconduct under certain religious law? Yet we all know it takes two to tango. Now we have more,

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has just signed a law that forces women to obey their husbands' sexual demands, keeps women from leaving the house -- even for work or school -- without a husband's permission, automatically grants child custody rights to fathers and grandfathers before mothers, and favors men in inheritance disputes and other legal matters. In short, the law again consigns Afghan women to lives of brutal repression
.

With these harsh and barbaric laws, what hope do we have in fundamental woman human right and how on earth can a woman be and perform as a wife with this enslaving conditions?

Any cream or lotion on sale is my favourite; could  be L'oreal,  jergens, cocobutter, vaseline,  nivea or even adi agbon, I don't care, once it's on sale, na im I like pass. grin. And tell you what, people do ask me what cream I use cause I have a youthful glowing skin and it's just natural.

The poster is not alone, there are more frustrated guys out there who after several futile efforts of securing a visa will resort to talking rubbish about life abroad. If doing menial job here makes me happier than roaming the streets of Lagos with a bag full of certificates and resumes, well, it's my life. I'm presently home now attending to a little project and I give glory to God for giving me the grace to travel when I did.
Another funny one; just last week, an uncle's wife wanted to know if I also clean up the corpse for a living   shocked, embarassed as if the whole streets of Canada is littered with dead bodies; that was after a gift of a brand new generator set for her hair salon o. orisirisi, like someone have just said.

Nigeria Nland we I hail thee! Some guys will never see anything good come out of our country, Nigeria. If Jim happened to be an American or even a Ghananian for that matter, the comments sure, would have been different. By the way, How many of us have met this guys one on one, I mean beyond seeing them in movies interpreting roles?  I bet it takes much more than what you see on set to tell who's sexy.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Amazing Plane With More 150 Persons Crash Into The Sea And No Death! by minto(m): 7:32am On Jan 19, 2009
As we salute the expertise of Sully in safe landing or is it safe crashing? the jet, let's give all glory to God almighty for His mercies. Bird strike, as they call it could happen anywhere, anytime and it takes divine intervention to put things right in such situation. As much as I dread local flight within Nigeria, I still believe we have intelligent pilots who could handle similar situation succesfully but prompt rescue operations might not be there like it was on Hudson and that's where the difference lies.
I once had auto crash on Lagos/Ibadan expressway with 3 other friends; we almost bleed to death waiting for help from the police. According to one of us who was very conscious of what was going on then, we layed helplessly there for close to one hr. But as soon as a volunteer took us to the hospital, the police came around and towed  our vehicle to their station, ransacked the baggages and ridiculously helped themselves to whatever caught their fancy, including colognes and disposabe camera. As if that was not enough, we were made to pay a some of 20,000 before the car was released to us "for endangering other people's life". I never stopped asking myself, HOW?
However, there is nothing impossible for God. He can turn the situation around and make our country what we all wish her to be. Let's keep praying.
