Properties / Re: Lagosians Rendered Homeless After Ambode Destroyed Their Houses In Ajah(pics) by Mixty: 8:02am On Dec 19, 2016
sarrki:

How do you know they have not been compensated?
Am very sure they have been duly notified before hand.
We bring emotions, Tribalism and religion to nation development, ;that's why Africa is yet to develop.
mescan:
this is wickedness, most of this houses were built during fashion regime in this same Lagos, he (fashola) licensed that land before they started building. Things like this happen only in Nigeria where incoming governors ND president abandone the project and plan of the former
Lagos state govt will not just go about demolishing houses if the affected people followed laid down process.
Problem is that most people like shortcuts or they are just acting in sheer ignorance (which is not true in mosr cases).
I am sure most these properties were built in areas marked as "Government Acquisition", meaning auch lands are reserved for government for future use. There are so many "estates" and buildings on areas designated "Government Acquisition" around Ajah area. The fact remains that government will demolish such properties without a single compensation, sooner or later. A government may come in and overlook such area for one reason or another, but another can come in and demolish.

That's why it's always good to do a proper check at Alausa before buying any piece of land to confirm it is free from government acquisition.

Career / Why Engineering Remains One Of The Best Courses To Study In Nigeria by Mixty: 11:12am On Dec 17, 2016
(1) Job versatility - Engineers are versatile and can be found in every industry in Nigeria. Name it - oil and gas, banking, insurance, aviation, civil and construction works, mineral resources, HR, transportation, etc. Engineers are the ONLY profession where theur skills are needed in all industries. You will find mech/elect engineers even in general hospitals.

(2) Knack for passing job aptitude tests - Due to the rigorous training engineering students go through, they wired to excel in all forms of job tests and inteviews. the very nature of engineering courses enhances one'a analytical and technical skills whixh is required in most job tests and interviews. No wonder engineers excel more than any other profession in job tests.

(3) Access to more local scholarships - All major scholarship schemes in Nigeria incorporate engineering courses. As a matter, engineering students are usually given more preference in oil and gas scholarships - Mobil,Chevron/Agbami, Shell, Agip, Total, MTN foundation, etc. These coys are mainly engineering companies with preference to professional courses such as engineering and medicine.

(4) Access to foreign scholarships - You wanna school abroad after your university education free of charge? Engineering is still your best bet. Try PTDF foreign scholarship, Mobil, Total IFP scholarship, Agip, etc.
Besides, most scholarship programmes sponsored by US & Canadian schools are available to engineering graduates. It's easier for engineering graduates to get direct scholarship to Masters/PhD programme in American universities than any other profession.

(5) Key to National Development - Forget what APC or PDP are telling you about recession. The key to Nigeria's development is technological advancement & growth, and it is the responsibility of engineers to drive this smiley Buhari has been talking about infrastructural development - road, railway, power, etc. The task still falls on the engineers to drive infrastructural development. smiley

(6) More job opportunities for engineers - There is simply more opportunities for engineers all around the world. If you are a good and well established engineer, you can never lack jobs all arpund the world. I can't say that for to other professions (maybe except Medicine) but I can guarantee it's a fact for engineering.

(7) Pathway to independence & Entrepreneurship - It's damn easy to be a an engineering consultant after acquiring some solid years of experience. Engineering consulting is still on of the most flourishing business in Nigeria.

Politics / Honourable Member Of House Of Representatives in 130 million loan mess by Mixty: 9:38pm On Dec 09, 2016
Got this from facebook.
A honourable member from Kaduna state goes about borrowing money from GTB to repay a UBA loan.
Months later, he defaulted from his GTB loan and has become incommunicado undecided

Some of these banks are also too greedy for money. I wonder why a bank will lend debtor money to settle another debt from a bank undecided

The bank had to write the speaker of the house to intervene.
What an unfortunate act by a "honourable" member of the House.

Properties / Re: Can 3 To 4 Million Naira Build Modern 5 Rooms & Parlour In Village by Mixty: 8:29am On Dec 08, 2016
jmoore:
Any 'builder' here that can't build 5 rooms and parlour with 3-4 million naira in a village is a scammer!!!!!!!
Lol!
Go and get a bricklayer that will build with stones like the pre medieval ages.

3 to 4 million cannot complete a modern 5 room apartment. You actually think Naira has much value these days. Go to the market and price building materials. Even 3 to 4 million will not be adequate to purchase materials alone if you want to build a quality
house.

@OP
You need AT LEAST 8 to 10 million to build and complete a modern 5 room apartment from foundation to finishing. Any builder that tells you he/she can do so with lesser amount is a fake.
There is realistically no way you can complete a good quality modern 5 room apartment with less than 10 million.
