c.fours:
I have a question and need your help in finding out the solution. I got some yams from this lady at the supermarket. I'm not very experienced in buying yams. How can you tell if the yam is bad? When I cooked the yams, some parts were dark and the yam tastes bitter. To me, this is not a good sign. Should I even eat it? Is it dangerous to eat bad yam?

Try using your nail to peel a tiny part of it, that way you will know if the yam will be good. If you don't want to use you nail, try Obowumi's response... smiley

Mcfemad: You are welcome madam.

It's welcome; this link might be of help too. It's about Ikoyi Marriage Registry:
www.nairaland.com/1053011/ikoyi-marriage-registry-info-needed

^^^ I created the thread when i require info about what it takes to have a civil wedding in Nigeria. I visited the Ikoyi registry about 4weeks ago and the info I got there was no different from the one provided in the link below. You will get a background knowledge here.

Moonbaby,

In addition, this link provides the necessary info regarding registry wedding:

PS: When I visited the registry, I met one of the staff members who provided me information and was willing to assist if I require such from him. I can send you his number and you give him a call. That would be helpful too.

Best Wishes!

@ Mcfemad
Can you send me the number please? Thanks wink

Missy_B: Yam porridge

- Peel, cut the yam into small pieces and wash
-Place in a pot, add water, salt and cook
-Add fish (optional) and maggi cubes then cook till yam is almost soft
-Blend tomatoes, bell pepper (tatase), chilli (rodo) onions.
-Heat red oil in a saucepan
-Now add the blent pepper, tomato and onion to the hot oil. Add seasoning (curry, thyme, grounded black pepper, knorr or maggi cubes). Allow to fry.
-Pour the fried mixture into the pot containing the yam
-Stir and allow to cook until yam is soft and sauce thick

Why is that yam porridge watery? grin

Mcfemad: Federal Marriage Registry, Ikoyi is another option. The office is at Ikoyi, you can go there to make findings.

Thanks and Kind Regards

ferhyntorlah: Moonbaby,

You can try Agege LGA registry. I know of two civic weddings that took place there.

I'm not too sure but I think you have to file your application atleast 21 days before the date of your civic wedding. So the earlier you decide, the better for you.

All the best and HML.

Thank you Ferhyntorlah, I have tried searching the name on google but nothing came coming up.

Do you know their number so I can make enquiry from them?kiss

Hi ppz,

Please I need to know, when do they normally do registry wedding in Lagos, some people have been telling me during the week.

How does that work knowing engagement/traditional ceremony holds on Friday? That means the couples would have been already wedded before their traditional ceremony.

Are there any registry in Lagos that holds ceremony on Saturday as I would prefer Saturday for registry after the traditional ceremony?

Thank you all. smiley
