Duby2288: When they asked you to send the proof of funds, did you send via email or postal mail? You used both words here, not sure which you did exactly. At this point, we should address this issue of mail and email. Mail is the postal letter usually in envelop sent to a physical address E-Mail is a letter in form of texts including attached documents sent to a virtual computer address with the domain @.... You know this. As long as Germany is concerned, it is for our BEST INTEREST to remind ourselves of this important difference and PAY UTMOST attention to details in Mail and E-Mail. |

WRola: Resend a soft copy of the insurance proof to the email address you can send an email to (autoresponse addresses mostly fail) and remind them who you left the documents with, if you know the name, state the name of the interviewer. In the response, include your name, passport number, date of birth, application number, date (time) of interview. Did you leave your passport with them after the interview? That's rare |

nightfox01: All medical-allied courses are NC, either national or local. It's not really a matter of class but actual GPA when converted using the Bavaria GPA calculation. As for schools, where you found the requirement also can have a list of schools. You have good chances but remember there is a (un)written rule, Germans > EU nationals > other Euro nations > friends of the EU> country/region needs assessment. Give it a try... 1 Like |

princejck: Of course we all do ask questions and I do ask a lot too. That is the essence of this thread and Internet. Information you find by yourself are more dear to you, you could understand fundamentals better. In more complicated issues or for clarity case, others can help. I admonish people to seek for preliminary information independently, from there, they can be part of their own journey. Generally, if you wish to travel to any country on any visa, especially on study visa, please always visit the country's embassy website for clear info and other online sources. Then, you can ask specific questions. We have had people coming here and ask 'what is the best university for master degree in Germany?'. We can do better and let's up our games and show that we have genuine inquisitive spirits. For the question @Camelcase POF is real like Madrid. It can be only be demonstrated in 2 ways: 1. Blocked account in a bank account in Germany up to 11,500 (including the bank German bank charges). This locked money will be available to you at a rate of about 940 Eur per month for 1 year AFTER you ARRIVE Germany. 2. A Declaration of Commitment certificate (colloquially called Sponsorship Letter/SL) where a person living in Germany can apy to his/her local government/city that s/he knows you and is capable and willing to fund your cost of sustenance in Germany for at least 1 year. This person is usually a relative or close person, not receiving any social benefits from the German government, have enough money (about 950 Eur per month) to spare after all his/her expenses are paid. When this person applies for this certificate in Germany, there will be verifications of this person's capabilities, if positive, s/he will receive a certificate declaring that s/he will be supporting your stay during your stay in Germany for at least 1 year. That is the letter s/he will mail to you in Nigeria or wherever to submit along side other documents at the interview stage. |

CamelCase: Did you type this question on Google or ChatGPT before even coming here? I see no curiosity in the minds of some members here and it is sad, especially for persons who wants to study abroad. Then we thing of negative profile when being queried by Consular authorities. Threads like this are sometimes policed by Consular officers. I understand the challenges, but as young persons and students/graduates, we should be markers of curiosity and self fact finders. 2 Likes |

princejck: So there is a general rule for lowered performance of students/graduates pre and post COVID-19? People should be encouraged to learn how to answer personal questions. There's no a single rule for all. |

Imustreturn: If you could use a Google search, that would render this info. Public universities are tuition-free but you pay semester contribution fee between 150-500 Eur per semester. Play around with Google, daad.de/en and uni-assist.de. |

Beress: Bielefeld is a small city, you should get a self con for less, but apply to Studentenwohnheim (dorm) already to save immediate housing stress. 1. You may no longer be able to have traditional 3 times a day. It can get less or more after you spend a few months not knowing what you are doing in some cases (it's normal BTW). 2. You can have the cheap private health insurance like Mawista but if you know you have preexisting health challenges or your working hours exceed 120 h per month, take public. Better you start with simple Mawista though. |

tym92: Are you Cat A? If yes, go ahead with the final preparations towards your interview. If CAT B, take a deep breathe and chill for the next 1.4 years. Certifications are done by MOFA and Embassy and you may need an appointment for it in Nigeria. Alternatively, attested documents from the court works great too. Less stressful. |

Beress: This is conveniently about 2500-2700 Eur per month. Rent: 350-450 Insurance: 40-220 (Depending on your age and current health condition) Feeding: 100-150 (Depending on WHAT and how much you eat of course) Transportation (local): possibly covered in your semester contribution fee Semester fee: 150-500 (Depending on your school) Winter clothing: depending on your taste and time of purchase (now, winter clothes are pretty cheap). Bicycle: later on... 😂 You'll be alright depending on your alrightness level wherever you are now. |

sammirano: Usually this wasn't common but with global slow and low visa approval rates, I think Universities are doing this to make arrangements for who will be available in persons and possibly plans for hybrid classes. I can imagine the organisational stress because if a course is NC restricted, a candidate that will be able to join when the semester begins is preferred. My class has 24 students, 3-4 Europeans and most others are from countries with visa problems. It is important for such department to know who and who will be available to start at the beginning of the semester. If this is your case that no visa yet, they will advise you and maybe offer a waiting list for you. 1 Like |

Blestos: Not necessarily the class but the point in German scale. Most MSc courses are set at 2.5 German equivalent GPA minimum points though there could be boosts from work experience, professional certifications. Try some private universities or NC Frei courses |

HighPriest0: I have effortlessly used uniassist on two successful occasions. Did you fulfil the uniassist requirements and did you check what the school you applied to required? Sometimes, just applying through uni-assist is not enough, the school may require further applications in their website, specific requirements (including VPD) and others. Check these out again. You ought to have at least receive an email from the school run whether admitted or not after the admission deadline. And when you emailed the school, what did they inform you? |

ChiomaMC: Google any public health insurance (preferably AOK, DAK, TK) with the name of the city your university is located. Tell them to send a public insurance exemption letter to your school as required for the completion of your enrolment process. Attach your admission letter, your passport data page and if available, your corresponding birth certificate in the request email. A few days later, the contact person should respond. Sample: Dear Admin, I am enrolling for this Winter Semester at the University of Koblenz-Landau. I am required to kindly ask a public health insurance agency to send a 'Bescheinigung über die Befreiung von der Krankenversicherungspflicht” (Proof of exemption from compulsory health insurance) to the University of Koblenz-Landau registry office in order to complete my enrolment process. I am however currently insured by ABC with the following details: Surname Name Passport No. Nationality DoB Current insurance number Kindly see my current health insurance certificate attached 1 Like 1 Share |
