Depending on your location, you might or might not miss these foods you the OP just listed. I don't cos that's all I eat and can tolerate. Nigerian food All these food and foodstuff can be bought. Albeit a bit expensive. But it's there. So I don't think I am missing anything. I have gotten fresh snails in at the African Produce Store in Los Angeles and at an Asian grocery store in Fresno. even bought Milo and Nido milk at Walmart in Arkansas. I've bought correct Kulikuli and Garri Ijebu at one Lagos International Market in Denver. All those Nigerian kinds of fishes (alaran, panla and all) I get from the Asian grocery stores. There is even a guy here that will sell you a whole goat. He kills it, removes the hair, cuts it up and brings it to your house. All for $300 or thereabout. You go chop am tire I buy fresh made suya, real mallam style in Houston. Anybody that knows Ahmed in Houston will know he makes bad-ass suya. Finger Licking in Houston and Mama Vero in LA sells good food too. Vallarta Supermarkets carry lots of food. I buy fresh cowleg, Panla fish (they will even fry it for you sef) , beef, cowhead, Tatase, Rodo, Fanta and Coke(the kind in bottles like Naija own), fresh Catfish for nice spicy catfish peppersoup, crab, crayfish, Shaki, Roundabout, liver and all. Mexican cuisine is similar to ours Farmer's market... the one around Finger Licking in Houston has anything you can possibly look for. Suya spice (I make suya well well), Custard, Yam, Plantain, Eko (the ones Ibo people call agidi), fresh Naija style bread (they sell those too in Kroger), Oloyin Beans, Yam flour, Semo, Poundo Yam, Noodles (Nigerian ones and not Ramen Noodles o), Ata Gbigbe, Naija Biscuits all sorts mehn. Enter there and you will be transported to Nigeria immediately. Make I even see if i fit find pictures sef. Sorry for the long story, I love food ni The first thing I look for when I go to a new city is an African Restaurant or store. 17 Likes 2 Shares |

Plentiful. My undergraduate major is Pure and Applied Physics. And I had no trouble getting a job in the Oil and Gas industry in Nigeria before I decided to leave and get a graduate degree in IT. I had no problem getting into graduate schools with my degree as well as I had plenty of the prerequisite plus the fact that Physics is considered the foundation of many physical sciences and engineering My advise to you is not to limit yourself and feel free to diversify. Looking at my former classmates' LinkedIn, I found out that most of them have no problems fitting into the Communications, IT, Energy, Engineering or even Medical fields. Heck, one of them just got a masters in Petroleum Engineering. The opportunity to spread and adapt is limitless. As I said, don't limit yourself. A physics degree opens you to a whole new world. You might even decide to get a PhD straight.... If you're intent on becoming a college professor. Plenty of schools here will accept you for a combined Masters/PhD programme in Physics. I know cos I have at least two friends who are doing that. It's fully funded with nice stipends and opportunity to publish nice papers The key is to research, research and research. Find the right fit and the right career path for yourself and the gates of succes has just been flung open. All the best. 5 Likes 1 Share |

ddbluv:Dubai isn't a US Point of Entry. Abu Dhabi is. You only go through Abu Dhabi if you fly with Etihad Airlines (the other national carrier of the UAE). If you fly Emirates, you go through Dubai, which is Emirates' hub and their is no US POE there. Which means your POE will be on US soil. Almost all Canadian International Airports have a US POE though |

Stewee:I don't think so. Although I bought a T-Mobile line, I know someone that brought a Verizon branded Bold 5 from Nigeria and the phone refused to work with any other provider except Verizon. The one I mentioned who had the minutes thingy with AT&T had a Q10 then. And it worked perfectly with her phone Stewee:Yes it does piggyback on T-Mobile but when I put it in my phone and tried activating it, it told me to put in my zipcode and there it told me the service was not available in my area. I didn't even bother anymore. |

Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by MsNas(f): 5:13pm On Jul 31, 2015 |
SantaClause:Not possible. I use one as well, and they will always send you messages like a week before your bill is due to pay so that your service won't be uninterrupted. Maybe you can use your Nigerian line with it, but then you can't receive calls or you'll incur high roaming costs. |
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by MsNas(f): 5:07pm On Jul 31, 2015 |
SantaClause:It's quite different. Such won't work here. This is because, in Nigeria you can receive calls even if you have no subscription or credit on your phone. Here, if your monthly subscription ends, that is the day you cease to make or even receive calls. You can't receive calls if you don't pay your monthly bill. So for your app to work, you actually have to have call minutes on your line which means paying some money, even if its the lowest plan your provider has. I don't know about other networks but one of my friends in AR used to use AT&T and her plan was like $25 or $30, can't remember. But the problem was that she was given like 250minutes of talk and unlimited text. Now that's a problem because her talk time sometimes get's exhausted cos they count received calls and also outgoing calls. For people like me who spend hours on the phone calling Nigeria, its a no no. |

DARKLIGHT:Before buying any SIM Card though, make sure you know if it works in your area. My friend bought me a simple mobile SIM card from bestbuy but I didn't have a phone. So when I got my phone and tried activating the SIM, It doesn't walk in my area. That was why I got a T-Mobile SIM card. And if I recall now, I paid $80 at the store somewhere in Houston. I guess it included my first month phone bill, the price of the SIM card and maybe the guy put some extra dollars. Don't get a phone on contract if you're not ready to keep paying between $80-$120 every month...depending on carrier and also the type of phone you get. |

DARKLIGHT:Depends on the phone you want. An iPhone 6 plus with T-mobile (no contract) is $750 Samsung S5 is around $350 or thereabout A sim card should be less than $50. I actually paid $20 or so when I first came and got a SIM Card. But it might vary based on location. |
