Politics / Re: Lagos Water Corporation Seeks Bill To Stop Borehole Sinking! by mustafar1: 4:49pm On Jul 30, 2010
ok, how do they get water? by buying it?

it still falls back on the failure of govt. if our groundwater is not safe for consumption and the govt knew that or knows that. i then wonder what the government has done to ensure people dont sink boreholes as a source of water in the new areas of lagos that are just being developed if they cant immediately provide water for the already built areas.
Politics / Re: Lagos Water Corporation Seeks Bill To Stop Borehole Sinking! by mustafar1: 3:38pm On Jul 30, 2010
babapupa, i understand all you have said. but how about areas of lagos that are not served by water corp? should they go waterless due to the ban. what i think the water corp can do is to have their people check and test water from boreholes at intervals. if they think its ok for use then they certify it ok and keep on moving but if they discover its not, they can either recommend water treatment solutionand require the owners to get them or if theres no remedy to filtering out the hazardous chemicals then they should shut the boreholes(but then that still would put those people in a sitaution where they dont have access to water which the borehole was meant to fix)

the proper tolling of this road came in 20years late. . .service roads by toll plaza's lead to nowhere, i would really like to know where the alternate roads they refer to are.

PS:there was a toll plaza at the epe end of the road but it never was used.

Politics / Re: Nigerian Soldiers Fathered 250,000 Kids In Liberia by mustafar1: 5:29pm On Jul 23, 2010
ok fraternizing simply means getting sexual with the local population right. fraternizing with the hope of building trust with the locals is war crimes as well. you seem to be construing some of the things i said to mean things i didnt say. fraternizing as used by me doesnt solely mean with the women, and for sexual reasons.

because you put points up means what, you are zeroing ur idea of them fraternizing to it simply being sexual. you say it like they only fraternized with the female portion of the population. my use of the word fraternize is not solely to represent their relationship with the female locals.

my reason for saying it puts the troops in danger is because even if theres no sex involved, said local(male or female) could be spying and supplying the rebel forces with intel (even when the fraternizing is done to build trust)

we are obviously looking at this from different sides of things.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Soldiers Fathered 250,000 Kids In Liberia by mustafar1: 4:54pm On Jul 23, 2010
you are moving ur argument away from the soldiers commiting attrocities to them going against UN or army laws which frown on fraternizing. I agree that fraternizing puts the troops in danger but are their fraternizing ways considered attrocities if it isnt done under duress? i think they two different things.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Soldiers Fathered 250,000 Kids In Liberia by mustafar1: 4:28pm On Jul 23, 2010
Kobojunkie:

peacekeepers engaging in sex acts with women, and children in war zones is frowned upon by the UN. Desperate people in those times will go to any lengths to get what they need, you made that statement, not I. Of course there may be those who are not desperate but that should not negate the fact that a) These peacekeepers who are usually out there representing their countries and the UN are advised against such involvement with those they are there to protect
b) People in desperate times will do even that which goes against their morals to stay alive

I mean even in Iraq, there are women and children who will give in to sexploitation by soldiers to stay alive or feed their children one more day but do you realize how much image damage US soldiers involved in such have wrought the nation as a whole since the war started? The women are not blamed; In most all the cases, the soldiers were stripped of their ranks, some sent home and discharged.
Of course some of them would return and all but that would not change the fact that they were against orders at the end of the day.
No one has yet to ascribe it to everyone. I have so far stated that there were and area cases of ra-pe and sexploitation during the peacekeeping missions. The UN frowns upon these peacekeepers engaging with their wards in such a manner and that is what it is.
I also have first hand stories from Liberians now living in America who tell of how they had to play whatever card they could to get themselves and loved ones out. Some went as far as to offer themselves to get favors too. Do you think those who had to were HAPPY offering themselves up?
PBS has some videos of stories on the liberian crisis and stories told by those who did all they could but still could not escape the attrocities.

where did i say the women were desparate and desparate people make desparate choices. im not saying its not frowned against by the UN or the US army and what not. but throwing out the fact that natural forces didnt lead to these unions doesnt hold as well. you paint a picture that all decision they made was under duress or out of necessity with no chance of them making such decision if it were peace time.

yeah and i expected you to say you have first hand stories as well. grin
Politics / Re: Nigerian Soldiers Fathered 250,000 Kids In Liberia by mustafar1: 3:47pm On Jul 23, 2010
why solely write it all off as the women being desparate. are you saying theres no chance that these women would not willingly want to have a soldier as a partner in normal times? would your stand have been different had these soldier returned to their bases with these women as wives and the children they bore for them?

dont get me wrong, im not throwing out the possibility and actually instances of soldiers having exploited the situation, but ascribing that to everyone of them is painting all with the same brush. i have first hand stories from liberians who witnessed the war and told stories of things happening and not basing it on articles i read online.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Soldiers Fathered 250,000 Kids In Liberia by mustafar1: 12:59pm On Jul 23, 2010
Liberian women love them a nigerian man. i can share my experiences.

i a war situation, a woman would rather use wat she has to get wat she wants from a peacekeeping soldier than risk being raped/drafted to being one of the numerous bedmates for the rebel soldier.
Politics / Re: Months To Election.,can Hardly Believe It. by mustafar1: 3:12pm On Jul 12, 2010
OH! i for fear. we need more candidates to make noise and throw themselves into the race and state the party they intend to get their ticket to contest. that way we can start pitching them against each other and have them quizzed. if they would gaffe, let them gaffe now and lets see how they deal with it.

Fhemmy, there are political parties in nigeria that rented two shops in shopping centers and use those as national secretariat.(i know of two parties and know where said offices are, i can provide pics as proof) i say those parties should be called to book by INEC.

i dont know dele momodu and i dont have anything against him. but if he wants to contest and win an election, those whom you put on ur team do count. those you accept their endorsement and do foto ups with matter. this picture on this thread reveals something, dude in the middle of the picture is on the momodu team and was the same dude on the IBB2007 team. i guess dude is just an opportunist who dances to the current drummer and doesnt mind whom the drummer is.

dayokanu:

How is he better? How do Nigerians keep recycling this experience crap. The same experience they said OBJ had that nearly crippled the country, The same experience they said YarAdua had.

What experience does the current president of the US have? Thats why the US is better, They rejected those "experience" in McCain and Palin for inexperienced Barack.

Experience in looting, Killing, annuling elections, Human right abuses, Dele Giwa style,

Do you know how many elections/transition IBB organised and cancelled? I can remember the Peoples Solidarity Party, Liberal Convention etc of 1988, The 1992 election that has YarAdua, Falae in SDP, Ciroma, Shinkafi, Lema Jibrilu, Bamanga Tukur in NRC but IBB cancelled it saying they were all Old breed politicians and we need newbreed

Came in New breed like Kingibe, Atiku, MKO, Bashir Tofa and IBB annulled again.

A man that was against democracy all his life now wants to contest for election, WHy not get a p0rn actor to contest for Pope

a lot of people dont even know these things.
