Brazil...1958 and 1962.

(62 was tough...especially when the then 22 year old Pele was hurt, and could not play in the final...fortunately the team led by Mane Garrincha stepped up and won the cup).

Italy 1934 and 38.

Wow, history might just repeat itself this year again. I really don't think England will defeat France.

This is sad and funny at the same time, let a little girl be a little girl! Even Cardi B doesn't put eyelashes and nails on Kulture.

Okay so Brazil is out, I will be rooting for Argentina and Morocco in their upcoming matches. I really don't think Croatia will lift the cup this year but they've really tried, their tenacity is really admirable and who knows they might just get into the final again.

Yes they are better off today, basic human rights are respected and nothing like absolutely dictatorship in most Arab countries.
If Iran does not change it's approach to leadership, its going to end up like Libya and the ruling class are going to get the Gaddafi treatment.

Okay.
TV/Movies / Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by nahr(f): 4:37pm On Nov 20, 2022
"Aisha" Letitia Wright really tried with the Nigerian accent. The movie was shot nicely and I like Aisha's relationship with Conor, it's just simple, sweet and nice. I also like the social issue of asylum seekers the movie is about and how hard life can be for them. I really learnt a great deal about how the system operates too.

Angel55555:

The Arab spring did not take place in Syria, I think. Since the protest began a lot of protesters have killed or jailed. Protesting in a Muslim country is not the same as Protesting in a western country, if the protesters don't riot or use violence they will be ignored by the ruling class, jailed without charges, extra judicial killings etc.
Sharia law is used in Qatar and UAE, yet those two countries are modernised and Qatar is hosting a global event right now. I believe in moderation, a woman was killed by the Islamic moral police force for not wearing her hijab properly and you think the people don't have the right to be mad at those oppressing them ?

When I mention Syria, I wasn't referring to the Arab Spring okay. I repeat, it is one thing to protest, it is another to riot. No country will allow rioting go on unchecked. When the BLM protest got violent in the US, the government stepped in. In Canada, Trudeau didn't allow the bikers protest to go on further he clamped them down when they were getting unruly. In France, the yellow vest movement was curbed so are you trying to tell me these are forms of opression too? I will like to remind you that no government will sit down with folded hands and watch their country get torn apart with civil unrest.

Of course I don't support a regime that controls the way a woman dresses, it is archaic and ridiculous. What I am saying is that civil unrest doesn't solve anything. Do you think if the End SARS protest that turned into such a violent end had continued today, Nigeria will still be habitable? Would you say that it is worth it because we are fighting the opression from our government. Would it have solved anything or would the country be in further ruins? Besides you didn't answer my question so I will ask again, those countries like Syria and the Arab Spring ones, are they better off today?
