Politics / No Peace Meeting Until Gunmen Are Produced-ibadan Mogajis by Naijamate: 7:07am On Oct 03, 2017
The Authentic Mogajis in Ibadan on Monday said that the proposed truce meeting being planned by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes to resolve the crisis surrounding the installation of 21 kings by Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Ibadan would be meaningless unless the gunmen who attacked the Olubadan palace a week ago during the installation of baales in the palace were produced.

The CCII had said that a truce meeting was underway after a panel was constituted to meet with Ajimobi, the Osi Olubadan of Ibadan land, Rashidi Ladoja, and the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

The 15-man Truth and Reconciliation Committee comprises of five members from the CCII, three each from the Christian and Muslim communities and four members from the Ibadan Elders Council.

But the Mogajis queried the constitution of the panel, saying it had, as members, groups that had publicly taken sides in the crisis, calling on Ladoja and the Olubadan to boycott the meeting.

The group’s spokesman, Chief Wale Oladoja, who is the Mogaji, Akinsola compound in Oopo Labiran area of Ibadan, said, “We deliberated extensively on the recent attack on the palace exactly a week ago, the peace parley and the security implications of the invasion of the Oba’s palace among other issues.

“We are worried that a week after the incident and the governor’s insistence that he knew those who attacked the palace, the suspects have yet to be apprehended and brought to book. Yet they are talking of a peace parley. Could they be talking about peace if the Kabiyesi’s life had been terminated by gun-toting palace invaders?

“We align with the position of the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, that the governor should fish out the gunmen and make them to face prosecution. The police should also conclude their investigation on time and bring the suspects to justice. Anything short of this, we are ready to hold a mega rally and demand same from the authorities concerned.

“The Mogajis also reviewed the panel members of the truce committee and we have our reservations because many of them, especially the CCII and the Ibadan Elders Council, have compromised their positions and would be too biased in their judgment. So, we shall impress it on Kabiyesi and High Chief Ladoja to stay away from such an arrangement. We will welcome a situation whereby those mediating are the religious leaders of the three major faiths – Christianity, Islam and the traditionalists – and not people whose antecedents are well-known and are therefore predictable.

“The CCII and Ibadan Elders have already supported the reform to the 1959 Ibadan Chieftaincy Declaration and nobody is ready to listen to them. The CCII is a social group and they should stick to what they are known for and stop speaking for all Ibadan sons and daughters who are stoutly in support of the preservation of Ibadan culture heritage and norms.”

Oladoja added that the group had agreed that the cases in court, challenging the authority of the governor to install kings and crown them, should continue.

“The Mogajis agreed that the cases in court should be allowed to go on. The peace panel can only be composed of people with pedigree who have the fear of God at heart, most especially the adherents of the listed religious beliefs. Nothing untoward must happen to Oba Adetunji because we have cause to express worry about the ongoing tussle in the land,” he said.

Crime / I Got N7,000 For Participating In Killing GUS Winner – Suspect by Naijamate: 6:58am On Oct 03, 2017
One of the suspects arrested for the murder of a former winner of Guilder Ultimate Search, Hector Jobarteh, has owned up to his involvement in the crime.

The suspect, 49-year-old Ismaila Adeyemi, said he got a mobile phone from the valuables carted away from the victim’s residence.
He said his brother, Usman Adeyemi, who had also been arrested, helped him to sell the phone for N7,000, adding that he gave Usman N2,000 from the sum.

PUNCH Metro had reported that some assailants had, on September 3, 2017, trailed 38-year-old Jobarteh to his house on Olufowora Close, New Oko-Oba, Agege, from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, and shot him dead.

It was said the deceased had gone to pick his younger brother, who arrived from abroad, at the airport.

Apart from Ismaila and Usman, four other suspects, including an Uber driver, who took the gang to the victim’s house, and the buyers of the phone, had been apprehended.

Ismaila, who was paraded on Monday at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja, told our correspondent that one Nonso, KK and him stormed the house that Jobarteh’s lived on a robbery mission that day.

The father of two children explained that a lady, who is still at large, led them to the residence, adding that the deceased’s father was shot in the attack.

He said, “I knew KK through Nonso, whom I worked with in a filling station in Apapa some years back. I met Nonso about five months ago and I gave him the address of where I live in Sango, Ogun State. KK just came back from abroad that time.

“I did not know who the man was before the operation. On that day, we parked at a filling station around his house and a lady came to meet KK. After a while, he received a call from the lady and we saw the man (Jobarteh) drove into the close.

“We followed him, but did not know where he entered. KK approached a woman and lied to her that the man’s car hit his and he sped off. He begged her to direct us to where the man entered and she did. When we got into the building, we saw the car and met another lady on the premises.

“KK asked the lady to lead us to the man’s apartment, but she declined. It was when he pointed a gun at the woman that she complied and took KK upstairs. He called us to come upstairs, but by the time we got to a living room upstairs, he had shot the man’s father in the hand.”

The native of Osogbo, Osun State said the gunshot prompted Jobarteh to come out from a room to the living room, where KK immediately gunned him down.

“I did not shoot at all, although I was holding a gun too. I quarrelled with KK for shooting them, because our plan was just to rob. He threatened to shoot me and I kept quiet. It was a pair of shoes and flowers that were in the bag we collected from him. We didn’t find money there.

“I took away only his white handset while KK went with the bag. I gave the phone to my brother, Usman, to help me sell it. He said he sold it for N7,000. I collected N5,000 and gave him N2,000,” he added.

However, the state Commissioner of Police, Edgar Imohimi, who paraded Adeyemi, said he shot the GUS winner.

He added that the command would not stop until other suspects involved in the murder were arrested.

Imohimi said, “I am glad to announce to you that after weeks of extensive manhunt, the principal suspect, Ismail Adeyemi, who pulled the trigger that killed the victim, has been arrested and he confessed to the crime.

“He also admitted to other various criminal activities within the state. The suspect led operatives to Sango Gasline, Ijoko, where his operational revolver pistol with nine rounds of live ammunition was recovered.”

Briefing journalists on the recent operations of the command across the state, the CP explained that 19 suspected armed robbers, terrorising residents of Ogombo, Sangotedo, Elemoro, Ikota, Ajah communities, among others, had been arrested.

“Within the period under review, 11 vehicles of different brands stolen at gunpoint from Lagos State and sold at Enugu State were tracked and recovered from hoodlums. Ten suspects, who specialise in robbing victims at gunpoint and driving the vehicles to Enugu State with forged number plates, were also arrested. The police recovered six vehicles and returned them to Lagos State.”

Names of the suspects were given as Abomi James, 34; Omokaro Efe, 48; Joseph Uzuazomaro, 31; Chukwudi Onyemara, 27; Malvin Umeh, 33; Nisma Uttah, 33; Samuel Shokumbi, 34; Ahmed Waheed, 33; Agustine Uchenna, 47 and 39-year-old Udoh Benedict.

Education / See Another Outstanding Performance By Prof Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, Jamb Regi by Naijamate: 3:59pm On Sep 20, 2017
After the news of JAMB registrar prof oloyede remitting 5bn to FG, this is also one of his good good work as secretary of the supreme council for islamic affairs

Prof Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede is the Secretary of the Supreme Council For Islamic Affairs and current JAMB registrar. He performed a miracle at the National Mosque Abuja. After every Jumu’at Prayer, it is a normal tradition for the mosque committee to raise money for running of the mosque. Prof Oloyede noticed that money raised after every Jumu’at prayer never exceeded 13k-14k. This had been for long. So, one day he decided to personally drop 13k inside the box and the notes were marked without the awareness of the collectors. After every collector had gone round the mosque to collect money from as many dignitaries as usually present at the mosque, the total money raised still didn’t go above 13k and the particular notes he personally dropped were missing. OK, no problem! The following Friday, he came to mosque with special boxes, the boxes were locked and the keys to them were kept by him. As usual, the collectors went round the mosque as dignitaries dropped their money directly into the boxes and after the whole thing, he opened the boxes and over 400k was realised ! Yeah over 400k ! The collectors disappeared all of a sudden !
May God continue to help him)
