Tragedy struck on Saturday in Ikirun of Ifelodun local government area of Osun State when seven people lost their lives in an auto crash involving an articulated vehicle and a commercial bus.

Eyewitnesses informed Tribune Online that the accident occurred around Alamisi junction, near Steel Rolling, Ikirun at about 7:40 am.

Our correspondent authoritatively gathered that vehicles involved in the auto crash included a Mack truck marked FST 597 XY and a black Mitsubishi space wagon with registration number JJJ 59 CJ.

According to one of the witnesses, out of the seven persons that lost their lives in the accident, five of them were males, while two were females, just as one person sustained critical injuries.

Items recovered at the scene of the crash included two sets of shoes, handbag, two ATM cards, a sum of N7,800 and three mobile phones.

When contacted, the Osun State sector commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Peter Oke confirmed the incident, disclosing that the auto crash was caused by lack of concentration.

He, however, hinted that the injured victim had been taken to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, while the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the hospital

Lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi representing Busola Dakolo has written to the Punch Newspaper asking them retract the News which they published on Thursday 14th November.

Recall that the Punch Newspaper reported that a Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Bwari has dismissed a suit filed by photographer, Busola Dakolo, against the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.

According to the Punch News, the court also ordered Busola to pay the sum of one million naira for wasting the court’s time, stating categorically that Biodun Fatoyinbo had won the Court Case.

However, the Dakolo’s council wrote, claiming that the story is false whilst giving the Newspaper the following Ultimatums;
– A public apology to the Dakolo’s on all their media platforms and

– A confidential release of the name of the person who sponsored the News content.

They went ahead to say that failure to do so in 48 hours will force them to take other permissible actions under the law against the Newspaper.

Rashford's Manchester United report card from age ten has gone viral on social media - with the young star admitting he needs to "practise every day".


The now-England striker filled in his answers to questions such as where his strengths are, how he can get better and who the best Under-11 player is.

Dated September 2007, eight-and-a-half years before his Man Utd debut in February 2016, Rashford wrote that his favourite position is "right wing and up front".

Asked what his strengths are, he put down: "My strengths are my pace and skill."

Quizzed on where he needs to get better, Rashford, now 22, wrote: "I need to improve on my left foot."

Some fans might say he does not need to bother after his outrageous free-kick goal against Chelsea last month - that would suggest his right foot is so good!

Next to a question asking how he can improve, Rashford put down: "I can improve by practising every day."

Perhaps the most intriguing answer, though, is who he picked as the best U11 player.

The Old Trafford forward wrote: "DEV because he's got everything a great player needs."

Fans said Rashford was referring to Devonte Redmond, the 23-year-old midfielder who now plays for National League club Wrexham.

A former Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Fatai Owoseni, said on Thursday that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has become a monster.

Owoseni, while describing Nigeria as a banana republic, said the EFCC had become a willing tool in the hands of whoever was in power.

The retired police officer spoke in Lagos at the 12th Annual Business Luncheon of a commercial law firm, SPA Ajibade & Co.

The luncheon with theme, ‘The forum for resolution of civil disputes: The courts v law enforcement agencies,’ was chaired by Justice Amina Augie of the Supreme Court, who was represented by Justice Helen Ogunwumiju of the Court of Appeal, while a former Attorney General of Lagos State, Mr Olasupo Shasore (SAN), presented the lead paper.

Owoseni was on the panel of discussants alongside Justice Biobele Georgewill of the Court of Appeal and the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos branch, Mr Lateef Akangbe.

While responding to the lead paper, Owoseni bemoaned what he described as abuse of office and disregard for the rule of law, saying the EFCC had become a monster.

He said, “The rule of law and the application and the enforcement is interpreted based on which side of the divide you are. If you are any of these governors today, the rule of law is something to you; if you become the Vice-President today, the rule of law is another thing to you; and we are seeing it.”

Owoseni traced the origin of the EFCC to the Task Force on Trade Malpractices, which he described as a self-serving body created purposefully to criminalise civil disputes.

He said, “That task force was used to seize properties, to do all sorts of things and that was what metamorphosed into the EFCC. Depending on which side of the divide you belong, to some of us, the EFCC has become a monster.”

In his contribution, Justice Georgewill knocked the police and the EFCC for the practice of making arrest before investigation.

The Justice said, “In civilised societies, you don’t arrest, detain and investigate; no! You investigate, arrest and detain. But here, you arrest before you investigate; you detain before you investigate. You are supposed to conduct preliminary investigation before you arrest somebody. It is so unfortunate, the police and the EFCC, you have to stop.”
