Business / Re: Youwin Updates by NET1(m): 5:19pm On Mar 28, 2012
On the 11th of October 2011 when I launched the Youth Enterprise With Innovation in Nigeria (YouWin) initiative, I promised that this administration would see the scheme through and ensure that youths are empowered with skills and the finances to create business that would employ other youths. At that time I said "unemployment among our youth is one of our biggest challenges. The time has come to create jobs (and) lay a new foundation for Nigeria's economic growth".

I am glad to report to you that the Federal Government has lived up to that promise and 1200 youths drawn from all over Nigeria have emerged as winners after submitting business proposals that were adjudged by an independent non governmental panel as viable. This first round of winners will now receive the capital to start up new businesses or enlarge established enterprises.

Now that the Federal Government has lived up to this promise, I encourage all winners and participants to take advantage of the skills received during the training exercise that preceded the announcement of winners. Nigerians are hardworking people. More than the money, the real prize arising from this scheme, is the determination of the Nigerian youth to excel!

I'm an Igbo person - a proud one sef.

But I think this guy (and many others like him) has embarrassed us. He deserves what he's eventually gonna get. The reason is that he already knew what he would face if caught.

I don't even think he's surprised at the judgement. And please let's stop giving crime a tribal identity.

A close friend of mine just graduated from University of Phoenix with a degree in Business Administration. You can check them out on: www.phoenix.edu.

Also, university of Hertfordshire offers degrees in Computer Science or Information technology. Please google them. I am even thinking of enrolling in Hertfordshire by July, because RSUST did not satisfy my expectations.

This lady called diluminati is either a Terrorist, an Terror accomplice/Sympathizer, or just plain stoopid.
By her analysis, the Boko Haramites who have been bombing Nigeria are also being used by the CIA and FBI.
This is the best definition of Silliness.

The subject of your message is a little misleading. The post says the judge is set to pass a sentence on him. Your subject says something else. How come even the moderators didn't see this gaffe?

The judgement is due in some hours.

Well i thought cloud computing only allows you access to applications. for example, you need to open your office 2007 word document and you don't have office 2007 installed on your system, cloud computing allows to connect to their application services so you can view your files. Your files still remains on your local desktop.  more like Citrix xen app.

No bro. That's just a part of it called Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)

The part where you harped on Security & Trust is very true. I think people, companies are even scared of their own storage capabilities, let alone entrusting their files with a hosting company.

Computers / Re: Thread For Infrastructure, Networks, Virtualisation And Cloud Computing by NET1(m): 6:28pm On Feb 11, 2012
Yeah, that's the new trend in IT: Cloud computing & Virtualization.

CLOUD COMPUTING:
SaaS: Many mid-sized will be able to afford the expensive software, because they'll only have to pay to use the service online. Compare 'buying' an original CD of ORACLE Database 11g (which is currently over N2m) to paying as low as N250k - N400k (as the case may be) to use this software application with its FULL features online.

Another important thing is that if the software is upgraded (say from Oracle Database 11g this year to Oracle Database 12g, you'll not worry about getting the new version because your cloud hosts would upgrade and then you still pay the N250k to use the application.

These are some of the applications (I think) might be in hot demand in Saas:

1. ERP applications (Microsoft Dynamics AX, Oracle E-Business Suite, SAP, Sage ERP, etc)
2. Database software (Oracle Database 11g, SQL Server)
3. You are free to add more,

Data Hosting: I have observed that some small & mid-sized businesses might be needing Cloud companies to securely host their data for them. Why would they do this? They'd need steady Power supply and 24/7 availability.

4. Imagine my kids fighting and killing themselves when I'm old. This is about to happen already in my father's marriage. I wont let it happen in mine.

Politics / Re: Youwin Winners To Access Funds Within 72 Days by NET1(m): 5:02pm On Feb 04, 2012
I applied for this programme and attended the Business Training in Benin, Edo State. I think there is a reasonable level of sincerity from this government (especially on the YouWIN project). I hope this tempo is sustained.

The initial plan was to have 1 person in each Geo-political region win the maximum sum of 10Million, and several others winning various smaller amounts. However, it appears they changed their minds while the programme was still on.

Now, the best 300 proposals will win 10Million Naira (irrespective of Geo-political region). Then, 150 people in each geo-political region win various sums (depending on their assessment of your business).

So, let's do the math:  300 + (150 x 6) = 1200 winners.

I think that's a good start for this YouWIN project. I hope to win.
