Sa, I put on my blackberry WiFi hot-spot on, can an iphone be connected to it and browse the net? This is my main concern.
Thanks once again. Twale to the Mods
Jailbreaking voids the warranty. Dislike unnecessarily tweaking devices. Man, if you are coming from Blackberry, I'd advice you to go for an iPhone as you may find the Android OS complicated and stressful to use. You come off as someone that isn't so tech savvy. If you don't like voiding the warranty of your device then Android wouldn't make any difference as most of the freedom that comes with it needs it to be rooted which like jailbreaking the iPhone, voids the warranty. If you want a device you can always rely on, a device that keeps your files safe and ensures your privacy and security, if you don't want to be bugged to death with countless viruses and malewares aimed at stealing your priceless personal info and identity, go for the iPhone. Yeah, you can tether your iPhone your BB to access the Internet using the hotspot feature. 1 Like |

Blackbeauty: See how u just want to buy wahala!I was using an iphone 5 I got as a gift which I had to sell!I laugh at you in greek if after all I wil say,you still decide to get the 5s!.I'll start with the pros-1.it is a small cute phone.I love the design and size. 2.It is an overhyped and annoyingly overpriced phone which makes it command respect. You can't see jst anyone using it.when u are out and people will be like 'wow, you use an iphone?' And u say 'yep'( with u smiling internally),that's as good as it gets! Cons-
You can say that an iPhone is over priced and I won't argue that statement with you, Tecno users also thinks that Samsung and other high end Android smartphones are overpriced. 1.You can't use bluetooth.you hear a nice song playing or u intend getting a picture.brother, you can't use bluetooth o!except its a transfer from iphone to iphone.now how many people wwud own an iphone where u work or sch
There are lots of third party apps you can use to transfer files between iOS and other mobile OS platforms via Bluetooth or WLAN, a simple Google search would've saved you from making this ignorant statement. 2.You can't download songs, videos, pdf files...in fact anything from d internet.yes..so if u love free music don't bother!I remember I had to buy ed sheeran's bloodstream and thinking out loud songs from itunes for like 400 naira after d naira got devalued.the frustration I felt that day eh!
Another ignorant thrash, I can download any song I want from the Internet FREE of charge using qq music app. The app itself is totally free also. 3.when u buy it,u can't just add your favourite songs o..u need the itunes app on ur pc to sync the songs into ur phone..if u r foolish enough to give it to slot guys to add songs for u,that's ur doom. The day u get your own itunes app on ur pc,all the previous songs and videos not synced with ur apple I'd will be wiped!
It pains me when I see peeps that aren't tech savvy and knows next to nothing on how to navigate an OS platform passing half truths or outright lie as facts. Research research research! 4.The appstore is the crappiest av seen after that of windows os..for files over 100mb,you wud need wifi or no download!you must upgrade to the latest ios 8 or you can't download some apps!once you are on ios 8,you can't downgrade it or jailbreak ur iphone!you see?
Every walk around and tricks about an OS takes time, the iOS 8 just got released and trust me, lots of tech heads are already working on jailbreaking this latest marvel of an OS. Stay tuned 5.Many of the fun stuffs on it are better enjoyed in u.s eg hv u seen someone using imessage in nigeria?nada! There are many more cons in buying an iphone..bt let me stop here!now the decision is yours to make.
Glad you decided to stop here. The iMessage, just like RIM's BBM some time ago only runs on the iOS. It only needs an Internet connect to work so why wouldn't it work in Nigeria?! I use an iPhone 6+ running the latest iOS 8.2 and I'm typing from a first hand experience. I used to be like you, a diehard Android fanboy, believing that iPhones are overpriced piece of shît. Not until I decided to give it a try when the iPhone 6+ came out, the iPhone is a technological marvel. Very fluid and effective. No annoying lags and bugs. Seamless hardware and software integration. The iPhone 6 sports just 1gig of RAM but runs smoother than my Sony Xperia Z2 with 3gb RAM! If Android works for you, then fine and by all means stick to it, don't come here to post BS about something you know jackshit about. Machine can be aware of its environment but self awareness and intuition is a different ball game. The future of AI is still far off. Air flight was something mehanical and comprehensible. People just limited their hearts back then. We all had physical evidence of what flight can be like through birds and other things. But for AI, It has to deal with intuition, something abstract.
I can assure. Someone has to always write the program that is responsible for the automation.. There is always human involvement somewhere.
Although I understand your fears and concerns and this thread Is an eye opener but we are still far off and it would take a lot more to accomplish a situation where AIs are self aware.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Futurology/comments/2mh8tn/elon_musks_deleted_edge_comment_from_yesterday_on/ Good you admitted that the development of a self aware system isn't impossible in it's totality. |

Abeg. AI is just going to be AI. Forget all those movies. And your closing paragraph even sums it up. Do something blindly? Like program a robot to go to war?
I would start believing they would take over the world and collonize us when computers starts writing their own programs without any PROMPT and inserting comments for documentation.
That it can mimick humans does not mean it has it's own intuition. That's a fundamental difference between humans and robot. Every robot created has a specified intention for its creation abd because of this. It puts a limitation to what it can do and think of. It may malfunction and cause unintended destructions due to errors or bugs but that it would deliberately out of its own accord overtake humans , dominate us and colonize us is not only far fetched but preposterous.
Fuzzy logic and stuff doesn't work that way. If you read my post properly, I was talking a about SELF AWARE machine there, fyi that's what AI development is gunning to achieve which is machine that is CONSCIOUS of its existence, a machine that constantly adapt to new variables through learning and without human input or interference. That's the ultimate AI. A machine with a mind. Such machine may seem far fetched to you now, same way heavier than air flight was to people sometime ago. Dismissing it as fuzzy logic? time will tell. |
Phones / Re: Microsoft's Bill Gates Insists Artificial Intelligence Is A Threat by networkgenuis: 9:34pm On Jan 30, 2015 |
Ryabcool: Lol! Even Bill Gates believes AI is a threat. If Bill who has been privy to the most advanced technology in the world before they got released insists AI is dangerous, then who are you that I should believe? No offense intended. Just asking an innocent question Gates knows exactly what he's talking about and I don't thinks his fears are unfounded. AI is a very dangerous path we shouldn't jump into blindly. A self aware machine is a risk, it may take centuries but a day will come when they will be too advanced for us to manage. Just one unit can turn rogue and corrupt others. No one should dismiss movies such as iRobot and Skynet as mere science fiction. Those movies are science prophecies telling us what to come should we do some things blindly. 1 Like |

Ohh.. You started using an iPhone for the first time. Lemme guess, it's the new iPhone and it's running iOS8, yet it's been compared to devices that came earlier with less powerful chipset. Xperia Z2 doesn't trash M8 in any aspect besides the camera and it's cos of the ultra pixel gimme HTC stubbornly continue to implement. HTC M8 was the best smartphone of 2014.
Pick up a note 4 and see things for yourself. Mind you, it's running KK.
HTC isn't aggressive in marketing. Bro we all have our bias and sentiments to a particular OS and or brand. I'm just trying to be objective to the best of my ability. I never knew a day will come that I will ever say anything good about iOS and if I think back to some things I said about it Sometime ago, I feel ashamed. @ your comment in bold. Comparing iPhone chipset to that of other Android devices is akin to comparing apples and oranges. First of, though the Z2 predates the 6+, yet it houses a quad core Qualcomm chip clocked at 2.4GHz(3GB RAM) while the iPhone 6+ houses a modest dual core Cyclone chip clocked at 1.2GH(1GB RAM), though the Z2 boasts of higher hardware spec, the 6+ beats it hands down in EVERY category of performance. Haven't you asked yourself why? |

Apple decided to stick to those numbers. They wouldn't have introduced the 128GB if not for DROID devices supporting 128GB storage via memory card. The next iPhone won't be 8pixels or have a GB ram.
Sony makes one of the best yes, but they are behind Samsung, LG, HTC hence plans to sell their mobile division. I believe Apple decided to introduce higher storage capacity because of the advancement in the MSD technology and not because of Android. You really need to get yourself an iPhone to really understand the technological marvel that piece of device is. I started using an iPhone for the first time 2 months ago and to be honest, I use to have the same opinion as you. Sony being behind Samsung and HTC isn't because Samsung and HTC makes better phones! For example, Xperia Z2 and HTC M8 were released almost the same time but the Z2 trashes M8 in almost all indices of comparison. Why Sony isn't popular is because they aren't so aggressive in marketing like HTC and Samsung. |

You can't use just one Android phone to judge. Sony is very poor in optimization and calibration. Most OEMs use Sony sensor for their cameras yet they produce better pictures than Sony. Compare the iPhone 6+ camera with Nexus 6. The latter kills it while Samsung Note 4 murders both phones.
They are all great devices Lol, bro not that I'm mouthing off but I'm a gadget enthusiast.forget that Sony doesn't have a large share of the Android market but believe me, they make some of the best Android devices. I have neither used the Nexus 6 nor Note 4 so I wouldn't want to make an uninformed comment. But remember that iPhone 6+ has just 1GB RAM, dual core processor and 8MP rear camera. |

But i hope u heard that dear iphone 6 trounced ur darling htc one m8 in a speed test even s5 too. With all the 3gb ram on note 4, its not as fluid as iphone 6 in multitasking. That was for the kitkat build, since u say ure on 5.0 i may have to see that too. iCant deny the lollipop is a nice fluid. Ive used it and i know. We can trade demos too. When i talk about androids i never do a mistake of mentioning the numerous chinese crapdroids that exist in ur ecosystem. What else would u expect from probably google sponsored project? A blackberry? Its just there. Forget the noise
On point bro. I use Xperia Z2 of 3GB RAM and iPhone 6+ of just 1GB RAM but you know what? The iPhone is far more faster and fluid in handling and executing applications and task more that the Z2! Hardware optimization matters. The Z2 boasts of 20MP rear camera and the iPhone 6+ just 8MP but I tell you, all the pictures I've taken with the 6+ is far superior to that of Z2. I don't even want to talk about the security aspect. Android's only selling point in my opinion is the flexibility it offers. |

threadstone: Nice try. Its ur choice to get any device u want not neccessarily until someone forces it down your throat like you android fanatics do all the time. Your os is the best. We have heard...
1. The last time i checked apple devices come in variants, 16 64, and 128gb which i know your darling droids dont have at the moment. You choose what u want.
2. Thats the beauty of ios. Hardly would u beef to do a reset unlike ur darling droids :p. This is because the hardware and software are beautifully integrated together and apps do not hold the os to ransom like u experience everyday (force close, wait etc.
3. So u need a new remote and you bought a phone, congrats.
4. Just because you dont have access to the file manager doesnt mean all files are dumped in the same folder in iphones. A simple jailbreak will convince you.
5.youre right about itunes. But to say you need iphoto to copy pictures out of iphone. Come on, say something else.
6. Any oem reserves the right to whatever hardware it wants for its products. Ure complaining of cable, tell tecno and others too to use snapdragon chipsets like others
7. Apples ios is engineered in a way that the appstore is the sole location for downloading apps. This makes cases of malware, vunerabilities and spywares and other nasty installations that the android ecosystem is notoriously famous for. For jailbroken devices, the cydia appstore also serves as a secondary base of apps to download too. Be illuminated.
8. Guest mode accounts werent a feature of android up till lollipop which im sure u dont have on your device. However be rest assured that its not so far away from ios. By the way have u heard of family sharing.. Google is ur buddy.
9. Who the hell needs google map when there is sygic map there that works seamlessly with realtime locations, thousands of poi and the best feature, u can use it OFFLINE. 10. Apple cares much about security and pattern lock is on the lowest level in security terms yet u say android is better because of that. Hell if youre using an exchange mail account on ur crapdroid, u can NEVER set a pattern lock as ur phone password. Reason? Read the above.
11. Widgets? Ever heard of ios 8?
12. Tell me where else to keep apps beside the home screen. And before u mention folders, ios users have been enjoying that long since before it debuted on android kitkat. 13. Well u may have a point.
14. Thank God u said a few phones. Out of those phone users, how many actually use d feature. I had a galaxy mega for close to two years and i could count on one hand how many times i used that feature. NEXT
15. Point well noted. Rather than set that, ill ask my PA (Siri) to wake me up at five. Dasall
Believe me, ive seen it all. Rooting xposed cyanogen 7-12. Odin etc. theres no big deal in android. You deserve a lagfree os where ure readily assured of an os upgrade for at least three years on a steady note, where ur device has a higher resale value
Where d prices of devices dont drop like a steam pot Where u have a beautifully designed os which integrates with the hardware to produce a seamless experience and regular updates which shields you away from the need to flash roms. Where a 1gb ram dualcore device is more powerful than other octacore hexacore decarcore 3gb devices. Where a 1900mAH battery would last u for 24 hours 3g usage
Welcome to ios 8.
Splendid! Couldn't have come up with a better rebuttal myself. I used to have the same opinion as the OP until I decided to try an iPhone and now, I hardly touch my Xperia Z2. The fluidity of the OS is awe inspiring and the seamless integration of the hardware and software dumbfounding. Hardware optimization is excellent. Else how can you explain why an iPhone 6+ with just 8MP rear camera having far better picture quality than Sony Xperia Z2 of 20MP? Each OS has its selling point, stick to what works for you. I still respect Android OS for it's flexibility but an iPhone is an engineering marvel, don't criticize blindly. 33 Likes 2 Shares |
