Celebrities / Re: Hugo Weaving(agent Smith Of Matrix) Is From Ibadan by nich(m): 4:15am On Sep 13, 2013
cheesy Why have you resolved to call him an Id!ot? He didn't have a choice picking his place of birth. And I'm sure he would enjoy some of the domestic Ibadan delicacies if he were to visit any time soon. wink
Celebrities / Hugo Weaving(agent Smith Of Matrix) Is From Ibadan by nich(m): 12:50am On Sep 13, 2013
If I were born in the USA or the UK, I would have had the right to claim being a citizen of either country. Jokingly going by the same ideology, Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith from the Matrix triology) would be an Ibadan man.

Reading only the topic without reading the report the OP quoted, I'd just assume Nigeria wants to lend Russia money to build more nuclear power plants in developed countries not Nigeria. Me sef wan invest o. Call me...
Politics / Re: Nigeria Partners Russia To build A Nuclear Power Station! by nich(m): 1:00am On Sep 09, 2013
grin I'm sure the OP meant to post this topic in the jokes section. Nigeria in the same sentence as nuclear or atomic? ASUU strikes, Doctors' strikes, security issues, etc remain mysteries to our govt and a nuclear plant is what they believe they can manage better? What's the state of Kanji or even Egbin plants? Infact, I can't pray for better power supply if a nuclear option is what's left. I'd gladly keep buying fuel and paying for Gen maintenance. I believe in miracles, but this is a genocide-wish!

Thanx pips for ALL info shared so far. My colleagues at the office also thank you because i shared your info with them even when some were reluctant to know. Now they're aware and each person's thinking of how to cross the hurdles created by our supposed friends @ VIO & FRSC.

In all, i think i have decided to take a week off work sometime soon to go do my DL renewal somewhere in Kwara, Osun or even Edo state if Lagos wahala is this bad courtesy of our Population in Lagos. Eko o ni baje o! wink
Music/Radio / Re: Omawumi Vs Tiwa Savage, Who Sings Better? by nich(m): 6:29pm On Mar 14, 2013
Tiwa's a good singer, no doubt, especially with all the international exposure she's had. Nonetheless, i would give my vote to Omawumi because she is an entertainer. Omawumi would captivate her audience far better than Tiwa can.

Put differently, i would say, "Omawumi is an African, very rich in her entertainment styles courtesy of culture; but Tiwa is an Oyinbo African that has some elements of unpractised African richness."

crusufixo:

This is quite an informative thread. Mine expired recently and I have being hearing stories of the processes in getting one and quite frankly its seems frustrating,stressful and scary. So please, can anybody who has gone through the processes, give a detailed explanation ( including costs ) on how to go about it.And also, locations of the offices. I would really appreciate if anyone can respond to this. Thanks

I can imagine how you feel. Mine should expire in another 3 months. Hence, my search for information.

Well, I've been crazily busy at work, but scantily breezed through the VIO website. I aint really gleaned the information therein, but i guess there's love in sharing. The link to the website i came across is http://www.viodvla.com/sl/page.php?pg=Driver%20Licence&subpg=Driver%20License%20Process

I plan to read through properly later on, but everyone is welcome to share their experience and/or information he/she has.

Thanx in advance. One luv to the ogas on top! grin

Hello Mod(s)!

hmmmmm... don't you think this topic would get lost in this section? undecided

I think there should be a more appropriate section for this topic so that people can at least find it (for education purpose) even if people don't post at all. I believe, at least, one person could learn something from my previous post. smiley

Car Talk / Getting A Driver's Licence In Nigeria by nich(m): 8:57pm On Mar 13, 2013
The gist about VIO/FRSC/LASTMA harassing people about driver's licence has gone virile. Different stories have emanated about people being fined =N=20,000 for having a 'fake' licence. First of all, did these people print the licence in their houses or offices? Leaving this as a rhetorical question, i decided to search for information online. Below is what i found:

(For applications submitted in manual forms)
The license holder will obtain an application form from the VIO/BIR representative at the licencing office. The applicant will complete the form and submit it to one of the FRSC officers who will capture the information on the form into the Drivers’ License application. The Applicant will then need to make payment for the application at a bank using an application id number which will be issued by the FRSC officer. Once payment has been made, the applicant will take the acknowledgement slip to the BIR officer in the licencing office for registration. The applicant will then proceed to the VIO officer in the licencing office for screening and approval. After this, an FRSC officer at the licencing office will capture the applicant’s biometric information and issue a temporary drivers’ license which will be valid for 60 days. The driver’s licence will be available for collection within the 60 day period.

(For applications submitted electronically)
The Applicant will access and complete the online application form. The Applicant will then need to make payment for the application either at a bank or online. Once payment has been made, the applicant will take the acknowledgement slip to the BIR representative in the licencing office for registration. The applicant will then proceed to the VIO officer within the licencing office for screening and approval. After this, an FRSC officer at the Information Processing Center will capture the applicant’s biometric information and issue a temporary drivers’ license which will be valid for 60 days. The driver’s licence will be available for collection within the 60 day period.

Now, great people of Nairaland, can anyone who has had the opportunity to get a purported original driver's licence done in the last 6months please educate me(us) because the referenced site seems to be talking about a crazy process that seems to make close to no sense to me.

Thank you in anticipation of a worthwhile discussion.

Jokes Etc / Re: Who Is Akpors? by nich(m): 12:21pm On Sep 29, 2012
Hmmmm…

We are able to connect with jokes differently:
1. some based on content;
2. Some based on specific words that remind us of something from our background, things we've seen on tv, stuff we read somewhere;
3. Some based on the personality of the person cracking the joke e.g if basket mouth were cracking a joke most of us would be smiling in anticipation before we heard the punch line(s).

This is not the politics section so I'd stop my lecture here. tongue.

@ OP Akpors is watching u! grin.
