Introduction True Gospel of Jesus, called Christ, a new prophet sent by God to the world: according to the descripton of Barnabas his apostle. Barnabas, apostle of Jesus the Nazarene, called Christ, to all them that dwell upon the earth deriseth peace and consolation. Dearly beloved, the great and wonderful God hath during these past days visited us by his prophet Jesus Christ in great mercy of teaching and miracles, by reason whereof many, being deceived of Satan, under pretence of piety, are preaching most impious doctrine, calling Jesus son of God, repudiating the circumcision ordained of God for ever, and permitting every unclean meat: among whom also Paul hath been deceived. Whereof I speak not without grief; for whichcause I am writing the truth which I have seen and heard, in the intercourse that I have had with Jesus, in order that ye may be saved, and not be deceived of Satan and perish in the judgement of God. Therefore beware of every one that preacheth unto you new doctrine contrary to that which I write, that ye may be saved eternally. The great God be with you and guard you from Satan and every evil. Amen. |

1. In this first chapter is contained the annunciation of the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary concerning the birth of Jesus. In these last years a virgin called Mary, of the lineage of David, of the tribe of Judah, was visited by the angel Gabriel from God. This virgin, living in all holiness without any offence, being blameless, and abiding in prayer with fastings. Being one day alone, there entered into her chamber the angel Gabriel, and he saluted her, saying: "God be with thee, O Mary". The virgin was affrighted at the appearnace of the angel; but the angel comforted her, saying: "Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found favour with God, who hath chosen thee to be mother of a prophet, whom he will send to the people of Israel in order that they may walk in his laws with truth of heart". The virgin answered: "Now how shall I bring forth sons, seeing I know not a man?" The angel answered: "O Mary, God who made man without man is able to generate in thee man without a man, because with him nothing is impossible. Mary answered: "I know that God is almighty, therefore his will be done." The angel answered: "Now be conceived in thee the prophet, whom thou shalt name Jesus : and thou shalt keep him from wine and strong drink and every unclean meat, because the child is an holy one of God." Mary bowed herself with humility, saying: "Know, O my soul, the greatness of God, and exult, my spirit, in God my Saviour; for he hath regarded the lowliness of his handmaiden, insomuch that I shall be called blessed by all nations, for he that is mighty hath made me great, and blessed be his holy name". For his mercy extendeth from generation to generation of them that fear him. Mighty hath he made his hand, and he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of his heart. He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble. Him who hath been hungry hath he filled with good things, and the rich he hath been hungry hath he filled with good things, and the rich he hath sent empty away. For he keepeth in memory the promises made to Abraham and his son for ever. |

Frizy: Thats the prayer of the catina. Those are quotes when Mary visited Elizabeth and the child in her womb moved for joy, The Gospel of Barnabas and Islam The Gospel of Barnabas overwhelmingly supports the teaching of Islam. However, there are a few rare occasions when it does not. a/ The Messiah. The Qur'an teaches that Jesus is the Messiah, and it never teaches that Muhammad is the Messiah: Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary (Qur'an 3:45, Pickthall). However, the Gospel of Barnabas denies that Jesus is the Messiah, and instead says Muhammad is the Messiah: Jesus confessed and said the truth, "I am not the Messiah". (chap. 42). Then said the priest: "How shall the Messiah be called?" , (Jesus answered) "Muhammed is his blessed name" (Barnabas chap. 97). Both these ideas contradict the Qur'an. b/ Wives. Marriage in the Qur'an binds a woman to one man but it does not bind a man to one woman. Muslim men are free to have several wives (Qur'an 4:3) and an unlimited number of female servants (Qur'an 70:30). However, the Gospel of Barnabas teaches the Biblical idea of marriage, that marriage binds a man and a woman equally together: Let a man content himself therefore with the wife whom his creator has given him, and let him forget every other woman (Barnabas chap. 115). c/ The Birth of Jesus. The Qur'an clearly teaches that Mary had pain when she gave birth to Jesus: (A)nd she withdrew with him to a far place. And the pangs of childbirth drove her unto the trunk of the palm tree. (Qur'an 19:22-23, Pickthall) However, the Gospel of Barnabas teaches the opposite: The virgin was surrounded by a light exceeding bright, and brought forth her son without pain (Barnabas chap. 3). d/ The Heavens. The Qur'an teaches that there are seven heavens: The seven heavens and the earth praise Him (Qur'an 17:44, Pickthall). However the Gospel of Barnabas teaches that there are nine heavens: Verily I say unto thee that the heavens are nine, among which are set the planets, that are distant one from another five hundred years journey for a man (Barnabas chap. 178) |

Contradicting both the Bible and Qur抋n Jesus is not the Messiah. ch.83 p.181 ch.97 p.223 ch.42 p.97 (Jesus is called the Messiah/Christ in Suras 5:75; 5:17 (2x), 3:45; 4:157, 171, 172, 9:30) The Messiah is Mohammed. ch.97 p.225-227 A prophet抯 words are only to the people they were sent to. ch.43 p.101 (Sura 4:150-151 says not to separate between messengers) Ishmael was the ancestor of the Messiah. ch.190 p.425; ch.191 p.407; ch.208 p.459; ch.43 p.103 God created all things for the Messiah. ch.191 p.427 God created everything for Mohammed ch.39 p.91 "[Mohammed] shall be my messenger, for whom I have created all things; who shall give light to the world when he shall come; whose soul was set in a celestial splendour sixty thousand years before I made anything." "The messenger of God [Mohammed] shall answer: 慜 Lord, I remember that when though didst create me, thou saidst that thou hadst willed to make for love of me the world and paradise, and angels and men, that they might glorify thee by me thy servant."ch.55 p.131. Also ch.56. p.133 Without faith in Mohammed, none will be saved. (Most Muslims do not believe you should have saving faith in Mohammed.) ch.192 p.429 Some Other Differences with the Bible Jesus is a voice in the wilderness. ch.42 p.97 Angels "rolled" the soldiers away for Jesus. ch.153 p.355 Mohammed is coming. ch.44 p.105 Some Other Differences with the Qur抋n These contradictions with the Qur抋n and strange teachings also might make Muslims wary of appealing to this "Gospel". Faithful Muslims who do not have works will be in Hell for 70,000 years. ch.137 p.319 Mohammed will go to Hell and be terrified as he beholds the punishment of others ch.135 p.315 Mary gave birth to Jesus without pain ch.3 p.9 Unlawful to hate anything except sin. ch.86 p.199 God is a father. ch.133 p.307 God is our Father. (-no sons, though) ch.17 p.31,33 There shall be no envy in Heaven ch.177 p.401 Jesus would sleep in like manner [die] and be speedily awakened. Ch.193 'Weep not, for Lazarus sleeps, and I am come to awake him.' The Pharisees said among themselves: 'Would to God that you did so sleep!' Then Jesus said: 'My hour is not yet come; but when it shall come I shall sleep in like manner, and shall be speedily awakened.' Then Jesus said again: 'Take away the stone from the sepulchre.' Said Martha: 'Lord, he stinks, for he has been dead four days. 'Jesus said: 'Why then am I come hither, Martha? Believe you not in me that I shall awaken him |

Clues on Who Wrote This Forgery Gospel An Italian printer named Arrivabene in 1547 published the first Italian translation of the Koran. The writer of the Gospel of Barnabas was not well versed in Biblical history nor in orthodox Muslim theology, but apparently he (or she) was very knowledgeable of European Medieval customs. The Italian of the Gospel of Barnabas had evidence of both Venetian and Tuscan dialects. Latin spellings showing Latin Vulgate influence. There are also influences from Dante抯 works. There were Arabic notes in the margin. However, as David Sox (p.51) mentions, they were not written by an orthodox Muslim. The Raggs conjecture that since the dark green, oriental-type binding is very similar to the binding of a Turkish document of 1575 in the Venetian archives, the binding and marginal notes could both have been done in Constantinople. First Suspect: Fra Marino was the father inquisitor of Venice from 1542 to 1550, and perhaps his motive was revenge (Sox p.68). Felice Peretti (the future Pope Sixtus V) was a severe, devoted inquisitor of Venice who made many enemies. In the sixteenth century there were 843 trials for Protestantism and Anabaptism, 65 for blasphemous speech and 148 for sorcery in Venice alone. (Sox p.57) In the 1530抯 Venice was criticized for its tolerance. An Augustinian friar was punished for teaching heresy at the Church of St. Barnabas in Venice. (Sox p.59) A handwriting analysis of Fra Marino抯 handwriting and the Gospel of Barnabas show they could have come from the same person according to Sox p.70. Second Suspect: Anselmo Turmeda (who later became Abd-Allah ibn Abd Allah) from Majorca, Spain, studied in Bologna for ten years. In his biography, written 1383-1390, he claimed to be a priest before his conversion to Islam. His teacher at Bologna was a crypto-Muslim. De Epalza (p.63-64) says he was a converted Franciscan who took revenge on Christianity after his conversion to Islam. The mention of Spanish coins in the Gospel of Barnabas supports this theory. Other Suspects: Other Gospel forgeries, these at least written by Moors in Arabic, are from Grenada. None was known prior to 1588 though. Conclusion Imagine you were a Muslim who was told that someone found a lost "book" from God. Among other things, this "Sura" mentioned that Mohammed sailed on a boat to Mecca, and this Sura contradicted the teaching of the Bible and contradicted the Qur抋n on ten points. The oldest manuscript of the alleged Sura was written in Italian, which is both not a Mideastern language and did not even exist in the time of Mohammed. Finally, this supposed Sura had some historical customs, which did not occur until 1,000 years later in Europe. It is safe to say a Muslims would probably have a few questions, to say the least. Before you embrace this medieval forgery as an authentic work that shows the "real" teachings of Jesus, remember that this work contradicts the Qur抋n, too. |

My dear brother @Frizy This Gospel has been banned by christains and a muslims as a forged book. The book was written by a Catholic Priest who converted to Great Religious. He wrote the book as a revenge to Christainity. This book was written in the 15th century(because that was the time the book was ever heard or seen) Thread Closed. |

imhotep: Please am not here to confuse anyone. It is better that we know the truth and condemn falsehood. The reasons why this Gospel wasn't advocated by Pauline church which we have now among majority to the christians was that the true Christians who accepted it were killed and it was an offence to have the book. The church was divided to the Trinity doctrine and Monotheism. But no matter how much you cover the truth, truth still stands. I'll discuss how Paul and Barnabas differed soon. Please don't bother critising that I want it to support Isl'am. The truth is what we should unvail. |

@frizy You are ignorant of so many facts, So many scholars have read this book and criticized it. The book is said to be professionally(not like texts of the 1st century) written and it has been linked to 14th, 15th or 16th century. There is another evidence that linked the book to 14th century contrary to what happened in the 1st century. Open ur eyes, forget about this useless book that was written for revenge, You will gain nothing from this, but will only be brainwashed, An advice for you: Face your studies or work because thats where you can only benefit than spreading this fake gospel |

2. The warning of the angel Gabriel given to Joseph concerning the conception of Virgin Mary. Mary having known the will of God, fearing the people, lest they should take offence at her being great with child, and should stone her as guilty of fornication, chose a companion of her own lineage, a man by name called Joseph, of blameless life: for he as a righteous man feared God and served him with fastings and prayers, living by the works of his hands, for he was a carpenter. Such a man the virgin knowing, chose him for her companion and revealed to him the divine counsel. Joseph being a righteous man, when he perceived that Mary was great with child, was minded to put her away because he feared God. Behold, whilst he slept, he was rebuked by the angel of God, saying, "O Joseph, why art thou minded to put away mary thy wife? Know that whatsoever hath been wrought in her hath all been done by the will of God. The virgin shall bring forth a son, whom thou shall call by the name Jesus; whom thou shalt keep from wine and strong drink and from every unclean meat, because he is an holy one of God from his mother's womb. He is a prophet of God sent unto the people of Israel, in order that he may convert Judah to his heart, and the Israel may walk in the law of the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses. He shall come with great power, which God shall give him, and shall work great miracles, whereby many shall be saved". Joseph, arising from sleep, gave thanks to God, and abode with Mary all his life, serving God with all sincerity. |

smile4kenn: Nawa o! Are you telling me that is was written after Paul's death, when there are so many evidences here with me that it wasn't. I must say you're ignorant of the history of your religion -Christianity. You say many scholars have refuted its autheticity. Why is your bible not all the same if you got the original. There many verses from this scripture that describes what God excepted of Christ himself, and what we should think of him. Your scholars may not recognise it true since they love the corrupted. |

3.Wonderful birth of Jesus, and appearance of angels praising God. There reigned at that time in Judaea Herod, by decree of Caersar Augustus, and Pilate was governor in the priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas. Wherefore, by decree of Augustus, all the world was enrolled; wherefore each one went to his own country, and they presented themselves by their own tribes to be enrolled. Joseph accordingly departed from Nazareth, a city of Galilee, with Mary his wife, great with child, to go to Bethlehem (for that it was his city, he being of the lineage David), in order that he might be enrolled according to the decree of Caesar. Joseph having arrived at Bethlehem, for that the city was small, and great the multitude of them that were strangers there, he found no place, wherefore he took lodging outside the city in a lodging made for a shepherds' shepherd. While Joseph aboded there the days were fulfilled for Mary to bringforth. The virgin was surrounded by the light of exceeding bright, and broughtforth her son without pain, whom she took in her arms, and wrapping him in swaddling clothes, laid him in the manger, because there was no room in the inn. There came with gladness a great multitude of angels to the inn, blessing God and annoucing peace to them that fear God. Mary and Joseph praised the Lord for the birth of Jesus, and with greatest joy nurtured him. |

Frizy: Why? simply because this forgery attempts to authenticate the many lies found in the qu'ran. Frizy: Here is an even more interesting fact, Barnabas was not one of the early apostles but came in well after Christ had resurrected. Which gospel was he then writing that appeared only in the 15th century long long after the other 1st century gospels had been published? One more interesting fact, the two earliest surviving manuscripts of this apparent forgery are written in SPANISH and ITALIAN. Languages which were definitely not used by the early apostles. The general consensus is that this was apparently edited to conform to is'lam. Frizy: Funny how you people spend so much time "planning" to post complete gospels from the bible but are super reluctant to post verses from your own qu'ran. Speaks volumes of your honesty. Frizy: Is this fraudulent gospel now a part of the qu'ran? 1 Like |

4. Angels announce to the shepherds the birth of Jesus, and they, after having found him, annouce him. At that time the shepherds were watching over their flock, as is their custom. And, behold, they were surrounded by an exceeding bright light, out of which appeared to them an angel, who blessed God. The shepherds were filled with fear by reason of the sudden light and the appearance of the angel: whereupon the angel of the lord comformted them, saying: "Behold, I announce to you a great joy, for there is born in the city of David a child who is a prophet of the Lord; who bringeth great salvation to the house of Israel. The child ye shall find in the manger, with his mother, who blesseth God". And when he had said this there came a great multitude of angels blessing God, announcing peace to them that have good will. When the angels were departed, the shepherds spake among themselves, saying: "Let us go even unto Bethelehem, and see the word which God by his angel hath announced to us". There came many shepherds to Bethlehem seeking the new-born babe, and they found outsde the city the child that was born, according to the word of teh angle, lying in the manger. They therefore made obeisance to him, and gave to the mother that which they had, announcing to her what they had heard and seen. mary therefore kept all these things in her heart, and Joseph [likewise], giving thanks to God. The shepherds returned to their flock, announcing to everyone how great a thing they had seen. And so the whole hill-country of Judaea was filled with fear, and every man laid up this word in his heart, saying: "What, think we, shall this child be?" |

@Smile4kenn: No one says that the Gospel of barnabas is 100% true. Just like the Bible (NT) , it is not 100% wrong either. But the core of Barnabas which contradicts the Songod, fathergod, and holy ghostgod concept is the onl reason I personally read it. There are things in it that go against is/lamic ideas. Its a carry over therefore from Christianity. Just like the foreign things brought into Isla/mic sunnah/hadith by both hardened Jews and Christians who converted. We know these ahadith by their weak chain of narrations. @Imhotep: Just because Is/lam came 570 years after Jesus, it does not mean that it is correct and better. Afterall, Jesus was not even a Christian, duuh. Your argument is very flat, considering if anything is to correct an established idea that is false, it is always a newer one. Is/lam through Qu/r'an and Sunnah/hadith give compelling challenges and reasonable facts why Jesus can never be more than Prophet/Messenger. He is even restricted in essence to the nations of Israel; 12 nations/tribes (2 Judea and 10 Israel). You see why the jews claim that christianity is a fraud by stating that Jesus is not even a prophet, which is lesser than Messenger, eg Moses? @Davidylan: A re, ki de she, omo iba eni? lol. Barnabas and Paul are from the same after Jesus generation. If you claim that one is completely a fraud, then there is 50/50 chance that the other is. But at best that one is never 100% correct! Paul has been proven to be false, since he was never a companion of Jesus. Just google Paul as a false prophet. The evidence is abounding. You do not have to long any longer. First divest yourself from Pauline falsehood. I will see you running away from Kiriyo in the same sense that Fela in his song said about lawyer Ishola Oshodu running when the soldier boys invaded it. |

Why should you CHOOSE one [fake] gospel over and above others; and emphasize it out of proportion? The gnostic gospels include -> 1) Gospel of Mary (recovered in 1896) 2) Gospel of Thomas (versions found in Oxyrhynchus, Egypt in 1898, and again in the Nag Hammadi Library) 3) Gospel of Truth (Nag Hammadi Library) 4) Gospel of Philip (Nag Hammadi Library) 5) Gospel of Judas (recovered via the antiquities black market in 1983, and then reconstructed in 2006) We are waiting for you research work. |

olabowale: Here is the problem, while other scriptures in the bible can be traced to the 1st century, the fraudulent gospel of Barnabas did not surface until the 15th century. who hid it and why? another problem, was Spanish and Italian the language of the 1st century apostles? All other gospels were found written in greek or aramaic . . . why is this "gospel of barnabas" different? olabowale: 1. Paul has been proven to be false by those whose tenous "religion" is exposed for the falsehood it is by the inspired writings of apostle Paul. 2. If not being a companion of Christ makes Paul false then shldnt that same criteria not also disqualify Barnabas? olabowale: 1. The "evidence" comes from mus'lims uncomfortable by Paul's teachings. 2. Just google up "the gospel of barnabas", the evidence that it is a fraud is also astounding. olabowale: Funny, "falsehood" by your own definition is anything that exposes the qu'ran for the fraud that it is. If we are to divest ourselves of falsehood, a good place to start would be the "gospel of barnabas". 1 Like |

Chapter 6 Three Magi are led by a star in the east to Judaea, and, finding Jesus, make obeisance to him and gifts. In the reign of Herod, king of Judaea, when Jesus was born, three magi in the parts of the east were observing the stars of heaven. Whereupon appeared to them a star of great brightness, wherefore having concluded among themselves, they came to Judaea, guided by the star, which went before them, and having arrived at Jerusalem they asked where was born the King of the Jews. And when Herod heard this he was affrighted, and all the city was troubled. Herod therefore called together the priests and the scribes, saying: 'Where should Christ be born?' They answered that he should be born in Bethlehem; for thus it is written by the prophet: 'And thou, Bethlehem, art not little among the princes of Judah: for out of thee shall come forth a leader, who shall lead my people Israel.' Herod accordingly called together the magi and asked them concerning their coming: who answered that they had seen a star in the east, which had guided them thither, wherefore they wished with gifts to worship this new King manifested by his star. Then said Herod: 'Go to Bethlehem and search out with all diligence concerning the child; and when ye have found him, come and tell it to me, because I also would fain come and worship him.' And this he spake deceitfully. |

Chapter 7 The visitation of Jesus by magi, and their return to their own country, with the warning of Jesus given to them in a dream. The magi therefore departed out of Jerusalem, and lo, the star which appeared to them in the east went before them. Seeing the star the magi were filled with gladness. And so having come to Bethlehem, outside the city, they saw the star standing still above the inn where Jesus was born. The magi therefore went thither, and entering the dwelling found the child with his mother, and bending down they did obeisance to him. And the magi presented unto him spices, with silver and gold, recounting to the virgin all that they had seen. Whereupon, while sleeping, they were warned by the child not to go to Herod: so departing by another way they returned to their own home, announcing all that they had seen in Judaea. |

Chapter 8 Jesus is carried in flight to Egypt, and herod massacres the innocent children. Herod seeing that the magi did not return, believed himself mocked of them; whereupon he determined to put to death the child that was born. But behold while Joseph was sleeping there appeared to him the angel of the Lord, saying: 'Arise up quickly, and take the child with his mother and go into Egypt for Herod willeth to slay him'. Joseph arose with great fear, and took Mary with the child, and they went into Egypt, and there they abode until the death of Herod: who, believing himself derided of the magi, sent his soldiers to slay all the new-born children in Bethlehem. The soldiers therefore came and slew all the children that were there, as Herod had commanded them. Whereby were fulfilled the words of the prophet, saying: 'Lamentation and great weeping are there in Ramah; Rachel lamenteth for her sons, but consolation is not given her because they are not.' |

Chapter 9 Jesus, having returned to Judaea, holds a wondrous disputation with doctors, having come to the age of twelve years. When Herod was dead, behold the angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying: 'Return into Judaea, for they are dead that willed the death of the child.' Joseph therefore took the child with Mary (he having come to the age of seven years), and came to Judaea; whence, hearing that Archelaus, son of Herod, was reigning in Judaea, he went into Galilee, fearing to remain in Judaea; and they went to dwell at Nazareth. The child grew in grace and wisdom before God and before men. Jesus, having come to the age of twelve years, went up with Mary and Joseph to Jerusalem, to worship there according to the law of the Lord written in the book of Moses. When their prayers were ended they departed, having lost Jesus, because they thought that he was returned home with their kinsfolk. Mary therefore returned with Joseph to Jerusalem, seeking Jesus among kinsfolk and neighbours. The third day they found the child in the temple, in the midst of the doctors, disputing with them concerning the law. And every one was amazed at his questions and answers, saying: "How can there be such doctrine in him, seeing he is so small and hath not learned to read?' Mary reproved him, saying: 'Son, what hast thou done to us? Behold I and thy father have sought thee for three days sorrowing.' Jesus answered: 'Know ye not that the service of God ought to come before father and mother?' Jesus then went down with his mother and Joseph to Nazareth, and was subject to them with humility and reverence. |

Chapter 10 Jesus, at the age of thirty years, on Mount Olives, miraclously recieveth the gospel from the angel Gabriel Jesus having come to the age of thirty years, as he himself said unto me, went up to Mount Olives with his mother to gather olives. Then at midday as he was praying, when he came to these words: 'Lord, with mercy . . . ,' he was surrounded by an exceeding bright light and by an infinite multitude of angels, who were saying: 'Blessed be God.' The angel Gabriel presented to him as it were a shining mirror, a book, which descended into the heart of Jesus, in which he had knowledge of what God hath done and what hath said and what God willeth insomuch that everything was laid bare and open to him; as he said unto me: 'Believe, Barnabas, that I know every prophet with every prophecy, insomuch that whatever I say the whole bath come forth from that book.' Jesus, having received this vision, and knowing that he was a prophet sent to the house of Israel, revealed all to Mary his mother, telling her that he needs must suffer great persecution for the honour of God, and that he could not any longer abide with her to serve her. Whereupon, having heard this, Mary answered: 'Son. ere thou west born all was announced to me; wherefore blessed be the holy name of God. Jesus departed therefore that day from his mother to attend to his prophetic office. |
