@ toxnaija, there's no need for mide2008 to go all the way to Ibadan, we've someone very relieble to do the work for we guys here on the forum and the person am talking about is justx24, he's very capable in things like that, I think we should all get across to him on that. I just hope the NSS7 satellite bird has not yet passed its half-life in orbit and is nearing to the period of sojourning its way back to earth, cos whats the reason why most of the fta stations are leaving it for other birds. There're various kinds of transponder frequencies, some tps dont allow more than some certain number of stations, and this capacity vary from tp to tp, so i think the tp that free2view guys moved to now will allow them to achieve their main purpose (adding 40 channels free), thats my personal thought on that, lets sit tight and see what happens after that. @ olofofo, how many c-band lnbs do u have on your motorised setup? I guess it's just a sinle one only judging from your past pix, is there a dielectric in it or not? and if yes or no, kindly explain how you get signals from both east and west (cos with badaru's theory, dielectric for westward sats and no dielectric for eastward sats) |

@ nash-fta, i dont really know how to thank you, but you've really been of great help and assistance to everyone here on the forum, so i say again Thank you. |

@legend/historic figure/Enitan these are pictures of the base of my dish. am still experimenting with the second c band lnbf without dielectric. no result yet.

@ olofofo, you are simply too much, should i be expecting similar to your neck holder with the supermax i will be settling for? But it seems your wiring looks rough, and by the way did you do the installation yourself? be sincere so are u able to get CNN on NSS7 with the lnb with dielectric? |
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 5:49pm On Nov 20, 2008 |
@ olofofo, I've just taken my time to check some of your previous posts whereby u listed the sats u were able to receive with your setup, so i took my time to visit lyngsat to check out eact sats, and i found out that there's really nothing on the westside connection, but eastside is full oooo my brother, my question is that i check out intelsat 10-02 where BBC is and the beeam is east hemi, so i will like to ask do you get that on your setup also (BBC in particular). Are there some stations on your setup that get opened up with keys? If there're list them for me and tell me the directories where their keys can be found. |
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by olofofo(m): 6:09pm On Nov 20, 2008 |
@enitan yes i receive bbc, but it's all audio. the only channel right now that opens with key is aflam on w6. i did not start my installation but i finalized it. and i have been tweaking it ever since. |
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 6:24pm On Nov 20, 2008 |
@ olofofo, are d aflam keys readily available? and whats d channel specialization and do u have a working key now? |

Enitan2002: "@ nash-fta, i don't really know how to thank you, but you've really been of great help and assistance to everyone here on the forum, so i say again Thank you". Thanks Enitan. Please clarify what you mean by Free2View has left the TP: 12728, V, 30000. I am still watching all the channels on that TP (MSNBC, Direct8, MTA, 2STV, TPA1, RTS) and nothing has changed for months. @W3A users, My FTA decoder can see the following: 7 active transponders without any video or audio; plus 5 feed frequencies which occasionally become live with both video and audio; plus the usual 5 TPs with FTA channels (i.e. Madagascar, MBC, Free2view, Miramar, Go-Africa); plus 2 TPs used by GTV. That makes a total of 19 TPs on that bird. |

But are you watching it now? Try to take the screenshot and post it on the forum for the doubting thomases (I included). WHO SAYS I SHOULDNT GO FOR MOTORISE, Lets see if nilesat will be able to keep up with this in terms of premiership matches, olofofo just make sure you stay glued to your TV set during the weekend on RDV and check if premiership matches will be aired PREMIERSHIP HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 7:16am On Nov 21, 2008 |
@ olofofo, tell me how u tracked d sirius bird wit ur setup, did u go all d way up to where ur dish is? ur explanation is needed |
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by olofofo(m): 9:23am On Nov 21, 2008 |
@enitan no need to go outside since it's a "motorized dish", my MSNBC is on postion 21 on my positioner and my CNN is on positioner 12, and since sirius is at 4.8e which is between 7e and 22w, all you need to do is input a working frequency in manual search and then move the dish from position 21 to postion 12, the transponder will turn green along the way, u can then stop ur postioner and tweak it until you get the best percentage, then u can save the position for that new satellite. |
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 9:45am On Nov 21, 2008 |
@ olofofo, what do you mean by tweaking the dish? |
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by olofofo(m): 11:46am On Nov 21, 2008 |
enitan2002: getting the alignment right! |
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 12:20pm On Nov 21, 2008 |
@ olofofo, does that require you touching the dish or the lnb? |
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by olofofo(m): 1:08pm On Nov 21, 2008 |
@enitan touch and touch until you get it right. sometime when you align in a certian way, it might result in loss in quality of another sateliite, so you have to get it right so that all your channels come up. once that is odne, no need to go up again until there need for it. all rest can be done inside your sitting room. |
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Nobody: 1:19pm On Nov 21, 2008 |
@ olofofo, that one na real wahala oooooo, i dont think I will be able to do the installation myself oooo with all these probs you have stated. Doest it now mean that with your setup now, 3 live premiership matches are guaranteed for you now, 2 on RDV and 12 on 2M maroc? I'm even thinking this may be the satellite the Ibadan guy is trying to hide from mide's friend |
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Dejsam(m): 2:29pm On Nov 21, 2008 |
hi,@ all, this is what i have to share with u all on card sharing, Card sharing is a method by which independent receivers obtain simultaneous access to a pay television network, using one legitimate conditional access subscription card. Typically, the legitimate card is attached to a personal computer or Dreambox which is connected to the Internet, and is configured to provide the legitimately decrypted control word to other receivers who request the information. This decrypted control word is then used to decode an encrypted conditional access service, as though each other receiver were using its own subscription card. As technology has made the security of smartcards in conditional access systems increase, card sharing has become a more popular method of pirate decryption. Much of the development of card sharing hardware and software has taken place in Europe where national boundaries mean that home users are able to receive satellite television signals from many countries but are unable to legally subscribe to them due to licensing restrictions on broadcasters. Because the length of the control word is so small (often 16 bytes), delivery of the control words over wide area networks to many different set top boxes is easily possible on a home internet connection. This has sparked off the creation of sharing network groups, in which users can access the group by sharing their subscription cards with the group, and in turn, being capable of receiving the channels which all users' cards can decrypt, as though the user owned every single subscription card. Other networks have also been created, whereby one server has multiple legitimate subscription cards connected to it. Access to this server is then restricted to those who pay the server's owner their own subscription fee. Another use for card sharing has become apparent as Europe migrates from analog to digital TV. As the tv signal turns digital, a digital set top box is needed for each TV in the household. Each set top box normally needs to have its own smart card in order to be able to decrypt premium channels. Most pay-tv providers (but not all) offer extra subscription cards to subscribers for a reduced fee compared to the original first card. The extra cards usually come with more restrictions than the first card, such as certain channels excluded from being decrypted by any card except the (more expensive) first one. This practice is mostly dictated by the content providers (tv networks) and poses a problem from a consumer rights perspective, as the subscribers are essentially forced to paying for the same channels twice, whereas in the analog world the channels would be unlocked on every TV in the household with only one fee. In order to avoid paying for the same content twice, many subscribers use card sharing to share their single smartcard among all the receivers in their households, arguing that it is just fair use. This practice can in some cases mean a breach of the contract between the subscriber and the content provider. It is however not an illegal activity, since the subscriber pays for the smartcard and the smartcard is only used within the subscriber's own household. Card sharing has caused major concern to the conditional access subscription card manufacturers, and their respective pay-tv companies, since virtually every encryption system can be shared, allowing unauthorised access. Unlike the hacking of smart cards, card sharing is relatively new, thanks to the recent increase in home internet speeds. Conditional access providers therefore have few counter measures to combat its use. One such method, used by several providers, is to greatly increase the frequency of changing the control word, used to decode the channel. With changing occurring as frequently as once every 5 seconds, this puts extra stress onto the subscription cards processor, meaning that clients are frustrated by short, but frequent, missed viewing, making viewing possible, but with extreme inconvenience. In response to this, card sharing servers have appeared that caches control words in order to prevent overloading of the smartcards processor if the same code word is requested more than once. The future of card sharing is unknown, because it is equally unclear how widespread its use is. Many conditional access providers may see it unworthy to produce new cards to send to all subscribers, as their manufacturing costs are too high. Most probably also realize that and the additional "security" will eventually be circumvented anyway. The latest Irdeto cards for example, have been produced in a way by which card sharing seemed not possible, but now they can be shared again. lets keep learning more and more .we will get to the end of free to air someday. byeeeee, : |
