UCL Semi-final:Chelsea(1) Vs Barcelona(1) [Agg: 1-1] On Wednesday 6th May by Cristalz(f): 9:18pm On May 03, 2009 |
On this night, one of the two clubs that could lift the UCL trophy will be decided at Stamford Bridge. After holding Barcelona to a goalless draw at the Nou Camp, Chelsea prepare to finish the job at home. Unlike managers Ferguson and Wenger, Guus Hiddink did not rest any key players for Chelsea's EPL game against Fulham. Chelsea won the game 3-1, but their defense was suspect, with Cech conceding an equalizer less than 5 minutes after the opening goal from Anelka. Cech has got to be extra vigilant, 'cos there will be no parking the bus in front of goal for Chelsea this time around. They will have to come out and play, and this could leave their back open for Barcelona's strikers to penetrate. . .this means he will find himself under a lot of pressure. LB Ashley Cole featured in the Fulham game and performed rather well. Guess there will be no Messi worries this time around. Chelsea need to get as many goals as possible if they wish to progress. . .so far, Hiddink has been up to the task. Will he be for this one? Even the disappointment of registering their second consecutive 0-0 home draw in a UEFA Champions League semi-final against English opposition cannot convince Xavi Hernández that Chelsea FC, and not FC Barcelona, will be in the final in Rome on 27 May. Barcelona players were frustrated and annoyed at Chelsea's defensive strategy in the 1st leg, and it's certain that they will unleash all that frustration and anger at SB. Evidence of that was Barca's demolition of Real Madrid 6-2 in the La Liga on Saturday night, a game that was mostly dominated by Pep Guardiola's men. Josep Guardiola lost two key defenders for Wednesday's semi-final decider during Tuesday's goalless first leg- Rafael Márquez sustaining a serious knee injury and Carles Puyol collecting a booking that rules him out of the Stamford Bridge return. Guardiola could field Piqué and Martín Cáceres in the heart of his defence in London, providing the Uruguayan international has recovered from a bout of tonsillitis which sidelined him for the first leg. Otherwise he may decide on a Piqué-Abidal partnership with Sylvinho deputising for the Frenchman at left-back. "There'll be no excuse for not reaching the final," added Guardiola. "We must find a way to do it." Guess in the end, it will be a battle of the goalies. . .whichever team can keep a cleaner sheet wins. This should be better than the first. So people, Valdes or Cech? |

Valdes can pull off some incredible saves but then give away the cheapest of goals. You never know what u're going to get with him. |

Very true. And, same goes for Cech since he started using his crash helmet. Will be interesting to see what those two do on Wednesday. |

Some chelski fan have resort to fantasizing when deep within them they know they are out of UCL. Whether the chelski eleven come to defend or attack on wednesday, they are loosing. If they resolve to defending, one BARCA goal will ruin them. If they come out to attack, then more goals will flow into their net. " The fear of Barca, is the beginning of wisdom for any premiership team including Chelski". Rest not in peace Chelski Chelsea Sepe Kaikai Opa-eyin Ogogoro. |

We should all try to be our brothers keeper, look after ourselves and try to encourage ourselves in times of fear and danger. The Chelski fans are under pressure and fear of the highest order. Switch this goes to you most especially, you come here to attack and criticize this people, and you have no idea if one or two of this people have heart attack. If they slump in front of the screen, you'll never know, so please be nice and encouraging. As for me, I'll give a little bit of my encouraging phrase. The game is a 50 50 tie. |
