A lot has been said about the 'death' of the Rap Battle section, well I'm not here to give it a CPR, this is Life After Death.

A Warcraft thread that's not about war . . . more emphasis on the progression of the craft.
No judges, no points, no analysis . . . just NL hiphop heads telling a story of the biggest influences on who they've become.

Last month, I[b] dared a couple of netcees to pledge allegiance to their hoods on NL[/b], only a few had the balls to.
It's bigger than Warcraft, it's reminiscence. . . it's a trip in time.
NL netcees present us with a first-person perspective on the hoods they rep.
Graffiting the images of their endz in our minds. . . not bound by rules.


Anyone's allowed to post here . . . new verses and comments are welcome.
But I warn you, this is a thread half of y'all won't make it.

Ibime - PH Town State of Mind

We used to play 'spoke and wheel' with paint lids and hangers/
And scare w@nkers/ by throwing German bangers/ on their verandas/
16-shot knock-out. . .  the sound was outlandish/
Till police banned it/ . . . cos it sounded like armed robber bandits/

If you had any goodies, you wouldn’t hang around/
if you do, somebody prolly try to 'knack am down!'/
Get nutmegged in footie, and niggas’ll slap you down/
So when you hear "opio". . . . you better run like a tracker hound!/

'Times-table' was a must, so it hung on my wall chart/
and we always felt a rush when we heard, "WAR START!"/
Living in PH was never a ball park/
but we balled in the park/ from the morn till the dark/

What I brought was a spark/ as the midfield provider/
If the bladder burst, we trek to vulcaniser/
We enjoyed chasing gecko lizards with catapults/
When the sun's hot, we stay home and play 'counterball'/

And 'wording' was our native form of battle-rap /
We played tape cassettes. . . not itunes and apple mac/
Back in the day when/ the songs finished. . . and the tape ends/
You gotta rewind the track. . . .  by rotating with a pen!/

On 'sanitation day', the police would patrol/
God bless you if they ever catch you taking a stroll!/
Masquerades would chase us unless we had dough/
So we listen for their drum rolls/ wherever we go/

In school, we harassed faggits/ for taxes/
Junior boys were fresh food, so we preyed on the bastards/
We jumped the school fence. . Forget the classes!/
Then buy papers for the exam . . . . and get the passes/

We never paid attention to our lessons at all/
At prep time, we recline by playing 'penny up the wall'/
Breaking into lockers when provisions were done/
And leaving all the manual work to our school son!/

Where Im from, non locals get broken in half/
Niggas with dough get kidnapped/ if they stroll in my ave/
