Leave our children out of politics or Fear Our Wrath! Politicians have been sternly warned to leave children out of politics or face the wrath of women. The warning was given by Ogun State women, under the aegis of ‘Concerned Mothers of Ogun State.’ Armed with placards and banners showing their resentment over the use of children to score cheap political points, the women described this trend as senseless, destructive and abusive. As they moved round, they sang different songs to show their displeasure. In Isara, the leader of the women in the local government, Mrs. Omolara Obafemi, informed the traditional rulers in the town that some politicians were planning to kidnap the children of their political rivals and cause mayhem in the next election. Responding, the Alakaka of Akaka, Oba Joshua Awoderu, promised to convey the message to the perpetrators and warn them to desist from the dastardly act. At the palace of Alaye Ode of Oderemo, Oba Adetunji Oso, the royal father informed the women that Ogun men were concerned about the politics of bitterness and wickedness being played by disgruntled politicians in Ogun State, led by a Foundation, promising to look into the development. The women, led by the wife of the local government chairman, Alhaja Kikelomo Ajayi, reported the politicians to the royal fathers in the town. They were also at the palace of Olowu of Owu, Oba Olusanya Dosunmu and were received by Olori Dosunmu. The wife of the monarch promised to pass the message across to the ruler. At the palace of Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, the wives of the monarch, Olori Omolara, Olori Yetunde and Olori Olabisi Tejuoso, advised politicians to shun politics of bitterness and leave children out of politics. The wives of the monarch advocated dialogue between warring politicians as a way out of the political impasse. http://www.tribune.com.ng/sun/index.php/news/1754-leave-our-children-out-of-politicsogun-women-warn-politicians |

Maybe women should lead the way. Nigeria may become a better place if they were put in charge. |

Ridiculous - instead of talking to the children at home, you're protesting? |
Re: Leave Our Children Out Of Politics • Ogun Women Warn Politicians by Nobody: 8:14pm On Aug 01, 2010 |
debosky:debo kini e n so? I support their protest. And what makes you think they haven't talked to their children at home? You know yoruba women, we try to be extra careful about our children. And this is not just about talking to the children, it's also about their safety. In Isara, the leader of the women in the local government, Mrs. Omolara Obafemi, informed the traditional rulers in the town that some politicians were planning to kidnap the children of their political rivals and cause mayhem in the next election. |

I actually think African women should be put in charge. I have noticed most African women do not look through tribal lens like the men. And African women know how to handle money better than men as well. And would spend it wisely. I would support a Nigerian woman as president just for the fact that we need something drastic in this country. I look at the Iron Lady from Liberia and how she is handling her country and she is actually doing very well. |

MaziUche0: I'll quote this just in case. Words of wisdom. . . . and I doubt a Nigerian woman would use "child-kidnapping-killing" as some sort of power against her opponent. BTW, arent you the same one that said Igbo women are not fit to rule? sjeezy8:Must you reply every cockroach that crawls? I've been seen his rubbish posts littering my threads all day. |

sjeezy8: Yet not many people get killed over kidnapping. Just money is exchanged. |

Ileke-IdI: I was just joking about the Igbo women part. My mother was a strong woman and would have made a great leader and I feel a lot of Nigerian women fall into that category. Nigerian women think with their mind, while Nigerian men are just greedy. |

MaziUche0:And that makes it just right to kidnap MaziUche0:Yea, never make that expensive joke again We have ethnic war, religious war. . . . I think its about time we have gender war or rebellion in Nigeria. We deserve more political power. I'm wondering why these women are just sitting on their azz. . . . Because when these politicians fight themselves, it is our children that suffer, we suffer the most. Look at Mariam Abacha. . . . . her husband is dead and she continues to beg for forgiveness from Unforgiving Nigeria. |

Ileke-IdI: It was a very expensive joke. I support gender equality. Women should lead the way. The African woman is the backbone of our society and we should always remember that. I might have some tribal prejudices, but when it comes to women of all tribes, I think they would make better leaders than their male counterparts. |

Everything needs a balance. The domination of Nigerian affairs by men is one of the reasons we ain't going nowhere. 50-50. And the best of both sides should be picked. For their to be a God, there must be a Goddess. For their to be a man there must be a woman. Dualism needs to be appreciated more in other context our nature and also social construction. |

Some politician are so desperate for them to remain in power. They do anything even use other and thier family putting pressure on some people , so that they can win, even when they know in a fair and free election they can not win. So they look for way to call opposition terrorist and use interpol etc. even children. Some people should be ashame of themself. |
