As most people here said, we should wait and reserve judgement unitil we know where their sources of income came from unless you are Atiku, who doesn't want to declare his source of income because his wife may know |

Fasola could not have made the amount he claimed from the UK. Follow the arguments of those (Yoruba) who know him well, even in the UK here http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/forum/main-square/59698-fayemi-declares-n750m-assets-olayinka-n1-2bn.html |

Assets declaration by Fayemi, deputy, a hoax -Oni Wednesday, 22 December 2010 04:12 | Author: Tribune | Source THE media aide to ousted Governor Olusegun Oni of Ekiti State, Mr Wale Ojo-Lanre, has described as phony and a hoax, the declaration of assets by Governor Kayode Fayemi and his deputy, Mrs Funmilayo Olayinka, saying that “this mumbo-jumbo assets declaration can only come from people who are out to prepare grounds for an impending grand looting of the state treasury.” Ojo-Lanre, in a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune, on Tuesday, said “Ekiti people deserve to know how Fayemi was able to acquire assets worth N750 million within four years and how much was paid as tax on his income and, most importantly, where the assets are located. “How on earth can the same Fayemi, who was quoted in an interview published in The Nation of November 11, 2010 that there were days in the struggle that he could not boast of N5,000 in his account and had to depend on his wife for sorting out family challenges now claim to be worth N750 million?” Also, reacting to Fayemi’s deputy, Mrs Olayinka’s claim, Wale Ojo-Lanre said “we wish to ask how som |

Someone asked a very good question on that link. It would definitely be nice for the man, and every others to produce their tax papers from when they claim they were in the US/UK. At least those records are more guaranteed to help paint a better picture of how the amount was obtained. |

Ileke-IdI: Is that african for "This is the person whose arse I choose to kiss and I wish you will kiss it as I do" ? Please stop . . . this is what I don't like about the mentality of some of our brethren and that is they pick and choose when the standards be applied. Like I said, this man's resume does not show him worth as much as he claims. So he falls in the basket of the so many others out there whose resumes equally do not show them worth what they claim. If he can provide additional details to prove he is, fine. Else, he remains suspect in my book. Like I told the others who have tried to offer us fluff arguments for why we must now believe . . . no need telling me what to believe, SHOW ME instead. |

Kobojunkie: Olorun! That was a joke o. OASN; Ok, dont believe. So when will WE be REALLY sure of his asset? Even if he tells us HOW he came about his millions, can we still be sure the amount is legit? |

Ileke-IdI: When Obama/Hillary released their tax information documenting their earnings and more, did you believe it? Yes/no Recently, when it was revealed that organizations were cooking their books, did you believe it? Yes/No I am not sure you know it but there are actually people out there whose profession it is to research these things and reveal the true values of such. Do not be deceived for one minute into believing they do not exist, even in Nigeria. Such services have existed to our Government and politicians for years. The Lagos state government has been using some of these services for some years now, and I am certain Fayemi, and every other politician there who wants the public to know the truth, knows how to get that information. |

Not everyone who owns several hundred million Naira obtained it by fraudulent means. Not saying I know about this particular case. 1. Many men who are in the service of the nation as public servants register companies under their wives names'. And then proceed to get contracts and other work through these companies. So, you can have a public servant who gets N20 million, N50 million, N100 or even N300million contracts from the government and executes them. This can also apply to Doctors and University Professors. 2. Please note that real estate in Nigeria has appreciated in a lot of areas in Nigeria over the past 10 to 15 years. I know a person who is now in politics who got allocated some land in various parts of Abuja back in the 1990s. I mean land he got back then for paltry sums like N1million, or N2 million when the FCDA was still handing them out like candy. One of such parcels of land is 6 plots in an area near Apo District. Going rate there as of early this year when I was in Abuja was N40 million per plot. That means excluding current development he has on the land right now, the minimum amount he would declare on that land will be N240 million. It's easy to say that anybody with money is a thief, proving it is the problem. Let us not forget that there is plenty of money to be made legitimately in Nigeria. It's just not as easy for some as it is for others. You can find a lot of people who are in public service who have hundreds of millions in property even though they receive relatively small amounts as salaries. These people have companies despite the fact that public servants aren't allowed to. You just bypass that by having it registered in your spouse's name. |

^^^ What good is this lecture to this case or any? Of course WE KNOW of the existence of legit politicians and business men out there. We are aware that not all of out politicians started off poor from the beginning. There is no debate there. As one of those who questions the man's claimed worth, I will make it clear that not one person, has definitely stated that anybody with money is a thief. So where do you get this from? |

Good to declare his assets. Now, could he please tell something about taxes he's paid? Surely, these should have some correspondence to his assets? . |

The poor will forver be jealous of the rich by default. Fayemi's wife alone is richer than most politicians in Nigeria, yes! I said it. Have u people found out about AWDF which she co-founded in Ghana. Where she was CEO until her husband became Governor. It's nobody's fault that you're naive. The house in Ghana is even rented and it's the wife that pay the rent. Google is a very useful tool, use it! |
