Oluremi Tinubu, a senator and wife of leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria,Bola Tinubu, and four other senators escaped death by the whiskers in Ibadan on Wednesday after angry mob attacked their convoy The senators were travelling by road, led by police escorts, following the grounding of flights in airports across the country as a result of the strike declared by labour unions to protest government’s cut of subsidy on fuel. According to an eyewitness, the mob damaged five cars belonging to the senators, including police escort vans leading the convoy. “The cars’ windscreens and windows were shattered and the senators’ valuable belongings were stolen by the mob,” an eyewitness said. Mrs. Tinubu was on the trip with Olugbenga Ashafa (ACN Lagos state), Babafemi Ojudu (ACN Ekiti state), Babajide Omoworare (ACN Ekiti state) and a yet to be identified senator. They all got stranded in Lagos Airport on Tuesday, missing the senate’s first plenary for the year. They were hoping to risk the potholes-ridden bad road to Abuja and catch up with at least one plenary for the week. When contacted on telephone, Mr. Ojudu complained he was not in “the right frame of mind” to narrate details of the incident. The senators escaped the attack unhurt and areheading back to Lagos to recover from the trauma. http://247ureports.com/2012/01/tinubu-ojudu-omoworare-two-others-escape-assasins-bullets-in-ibadan/ |

When focus moves onto the senators, to the point they are now targets of raw anger, they will impeach GEJ. At least they can live to eat another day under Sambo than drown with a ship that will surely sink if GEJ continues to think he can subdue the majority in a throwback to days when 'strongmen' got away with bullying Nigerians. Self-preservation will make the Senators act. Impossible to deploy all the Policemen in Nigeria to Abuja. If anger swells enough, then no one can really protect these guys better than themselves via giving Nigerians what they are demanding. |

Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by Gbawe: 10:38pm On Jan 11, 2012 |
Beaf: "Egbon mi razist" , no one has time for you these days. You are a discredited hack who has gotten it wrong more times then anyone has fingers and toes. Why don't you just run along, carry on with licking azz, and let sensible folks discuss? "Lazy, corrupt, awuf loving phucks" actually applies more to GEJ and your NDDC "sons of the soil" than you will ever have the basic honesty to discern let alone admit. |
Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by DanKan0: 10:38pm On Jan 11, 2012 |

All of you supporting anarchy will not live to tell the story when it ends, if indeed it will ever end. I am very certain, there won't be free oil for everyone to glut on. |

So that is to say, this whole thing is actually worse that the media are reporting it. @beaf, no mind them make we waka go our new found country (Niger-Delta Repulic). I wan set @beaf ablaze" Oloshi like you, you wey na you 'jonny' we go use strangle you very soon. Even GEJ no go fit save you. |
Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by PapaBrowne(m): 11:01pm On Jan 11, 2012 |
alj harem: I'm loving the turn of events. When it was about subsidy, it made no sense. If this thing can snowball to a point where Government officials would begin to get scared of the people, then finally change will come. If we can just make this thing about ending corruption in all facets of our system as well as changing the structural defects in this country that make growth impossible, then "we the people" would finally be on a winning path. If we make the protests about subsidy, then if there is a revert in price to 65Naira, we go back to work and the rot continues. If we make it about Jonathan, then be sure that the "owners of the oil" would not be smiling. They would collect their oil back like they did under YarAdua. But if we make this about ending Government corruption from the LGs to the State Governments to the FG,only then would the people be the victors!! For any demands to have results they must be well articulated and specifics and timelines must be stated. Wondering why Labour can't see the signs!! |

Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by Anybaba: 11:09pm On Jan 11, 2012 |
alj harem: It will get to you soon. Yes, you ! In a lawless society, you will defend your incorruptibility. Encouraging anarchy in Nigeria today is invitation of doom ! Nigeria as you know it will not survive it, neither will you. |
Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by 2mch(m): 11:10pm On Jan 11, 2012 |
Akanbi_edu: I really will like them to expantiate on that. considering the fact that most of the oil is far off shore. These people talk like they are a bit insane. |

Re: Heading Towards Arab Spring?: Senators Attacked! by Nobody: 11:11pm On Jan 11, 2012 |
The country is gradually sliding into a state of anarchy. Mr Jonathan and his cohorts certainly underestimated the fury of the people. The kind of crowd at Ojota today was unprecedented in the history of the country, yet He sits there fiddling while 'Rome' burns. This president is totally out of touch with REALITY! |

Before they impeach . . .can they, the NASS members, slash their ridiculous alawee . . . and the impeachment sef is dicey . . . it's a delicate game, whose outcome might be mind blowing . . . . . Meanwhile, the story could just be twisted to the normal " PDP is behind the attack" so i won't be surprised if i hear that being muted somewhere . . . |
