Politics / Some South South People And Their Confused Nature. by Nwadiuto247: 11:42am On Nov 24, 2019
You come here and wail about Igbos in your land yet you go back and sell your land to them

You rent your shops to them. You beg them money every now and then.

Obviously this smacks of hypocrisy.

Are you people so confused?

God bless President Muhammadu Buhari even though their votes are inconsequential to your victory

Yes our votes may be inconsequential but he took an oath to rule Nigeria well and abide by the constitution.

Presidents are elected to rule the country, not to rule some part of the country.

NYSC / Re: An Ekiti Indigene Recounts His NYSC Experience In Anambra by Nwadiuto247: 10:39pm On Nov 22, 2019
InyinyaAgbaOku:
A People Steep in Culture

The Igbos have a steadfast admiration for their traditions and cultural heritage. The traditional breaking of kola nuts to connote peace is still held high in Igbo cosmology. The Igbo traditional wedding and burial ceremonies are events to behold despite their disregard for ‘Owanbe’ which is popular among Yorubas. The popularity of Christianity in the region has not deterred most of them from performing key cultural rites. Their rich traditions are also evident in the frequent outings of Masquerades and during the New yam festivals

Another impressive feature worthy of admiration is the profound positive imparts of community development associations in various towns and villages in the state. In Enugwu Ukwu, so many developmental strides were seen executed by the town union which includes the building of a town hall, assisting the government in the area of security of lives and properties, organising free jamb coaching for young school leavers and promoting a healthy lifestyle through monthly keep fit exercises.

Such exemplary gestures by the town union were also noticeable in other neighbouring communities like Nawfia, Abagana, Nimo and other communities I visited. I prescribe this act of sportsmanship to all towns in Nigeria, for the progression of our society does not lie in the hands of our government alone.

My experience in Anambra has really afforded me the opportunity to see people differently from a stereotypical lens.

That's how we roll and that's why sometimes we dont give a damn about government

Politics / Re: Enlighten Yourself:SE Must Embrace APC To remain Relevant In Nigerian Politics by Nwadiuto247: 10:15pm On Nov 19, 2019
Kingsley10000:
POLITICAL ALLIANCE BETWEEN SOUTH SOUTH AND SOUTH WEST

1. Bayelsa state is a core SS state in the league of Rivers
and Delta states. A state like other core SS states where
APC had no foothold in as recently as 2018 - not until
2019 when we started seeing some presence of APC
there.

2. Bayelsa state is the home state of the last president
produced by PDP. The state and the region have been
hostile to APC as a result of GEJ's/PDP's loss of the
presidency.

3. That GEJ abandoned PDP in Bayelsa state and showed
support (or being indifferent of the contest, at least) is an
indication that he has moved on despite his loss and
what his wife is going through with EFCC.

4. Winning Bayelsa state gives a lot of confidence and
hope to APC for other states in the region and for 2023
general elections. Such victory will surely boost their
performance in that state and in the SS region entirely.

5. Surely, if GEJ/PEJ could support APC which sent them
packing from Aso Rock, it means the entire Niger Delta
which is their primary constituency can move on and be
less hostile to APC or even embrace the party more.

6. With what played out in Bayelsa, APC's headache of
worrying about SE has been reduced greatly. It's now
much more easier for APC to ignore SE and their
emotional blackmail and focuse more on the SS with
appointments and inclusiveness. That way, SE becomes
less relevant in the scheme of things since APC will now
have strong footings in NW, NE, NC, SW and SS. Surely,
that's a huge competitive advantage over PDP which can
only boast of strength in SE and SS (now diminished)
with not-so huge following in other four regions.

There are more implications but these ones should
educate you already.

Oga close mouth abeg.

Jonathan has done it for his state not that he likes APC but he needed to deal with the useless and greedy governor they have in Bayelsa.

Imo state has been under APC but voted for PDP due to the useless and greedy governor they had in Okorocha. Same thing that Bayelsa did now.

Anambra has been under APGA where they feel comfortable with leaders the party has produced over time.

PDP governors have been performing well in Enugu, especially during the time of Chimaroke and Sullivan . So you want Enugu to just dump PDP governors that have been providing them good governance? For what? Just to answer APC state? Na wa for your brain.

Ebonyi has been doing well under PDP especially under the current governor. So they should just dump PDP just to answer APC state? Na wa for you.

You dont even understand what is happening.

The people of these areas are voting for candidates and not party. Thats the simple message but your foolish partisan mentality is making you read useless meanings to what happened in Bayelsa.

Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta and Cross River are still PDP. Edo state is shaking under APC and you are here talking.

In your mind you think Wike can join APC to work under Amaechi. If Wike joins APC the other tribes in Rivers state will be happy for it because the fact that these two Ikwere people are in control of these two big political parties in River state is not funny to the other tribes.

You are just a dreamer. Politics in our part of the country is basically on individuals. The major issue that most Igbos have with APC is BUHARI. Edo state is APC but during the presidential election they voted Atiku. Oshiomole being the chairman of APC couldnt stop them.

Just go and sleep abeg

Politics / Re: Why Do Some People Get Depressed When SS And SE Are Mentioned Together ? by Nwadiuto247: 9:34pm On Nov 18, 2019
Ezeama400:
I noticed that there is always outcry from a particular section of this country when one says " SS and SE"

This is a trend that is very difficult to change even northern politicians always lay emphasis on that whenever election is around the corner. But some nairaland members of SW extraction always get angry when its mentioned.
It's a very sad reality on ground that we can't change.
Normally, all southerners should be tagged together like the way we southerners tag North together despite the fact that their voting pattern differs ( Middle belt for example)
SW people are felling guilty for their political mistake ( Though they call it sophistication)
Geographically they are southerners, but politically they are not because their ideology is different from ours, hence their anger whenever SE\ SS are mentioned together when politics is discussed. Stop getting angry over your exclusion. Until you get it better, we won't tag you along

I opened this thread because of yesterday's election which I am still bitter about PDP loss due to Dickson's archaic style politics.

Many of SW people were celebrating yesterday that we are now their allies. Some even started insulting SE Ibos because APC won in Beyelsa , forgetting the fact that APC has ruled IMO state for eight years. What type of education do you guys receive in that your region?

No Ibo man cerebrated PDP victory in Sokoto, Adamawa and the rest .. So why this dance of shame by SW ?

I never knew that you guys are this desperate for our ally hence turning the battle between two Ijaw men as your victory.

Even Edo state that is very close to you always disappoint you during presidential election despite being an APC state ..

Like I said before, I am still sad and happy at the same time over yesterday's election outcome in Bayelsa.
Sad because the party I support lost, happy that the masses have spoken which gave a final burial to godfatherism unlike what is happening in SW where one man will tell his followers to love someone in the morning and all of them will love his, then in the evening if he decides to detest him, his followers will start demonizing him without asking question ( Ambode a case study)

Until SW get it better and develop a southern Ideology ( Impossible though) , we won't stop excluding you as southerners when politics is discussed.

You ve spoken well.

Don't forget that hypocrisy runs in the blood of our SW friends.

You can see them exhibiting in their responses here.

My worry is that the joint patrol team may see this as an avenue to enrich themselves heavily through bribery.

Meanwhile i think that the border should still remain closed till January 2020.

What is the motive behind the pressure by these neighboring countries to open the border before December?

I dont even understand why Ghana has been wailing endlessly more than the countries we share border with.

Politics / Re: Ghanaian traders shut down more Nigerians’ shops by Nwadiuto247: 11:35am On Nov 12, 2019
Kwanza:
Fifteen more shops belonging to Nigerians were shutdown yesterday by members of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) at Opera Square in Accra, bringing the number of shops to about 70.

The latest showdown is part of GUTA’s plan to cripple Nigerian businesses in the nation’s capital.

Nigerian businesses at the Tip Toe Lane at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle are believed to be the next in line, as it was gathered that GUTA plans to lock up the Nigerian shops in the area today.

The national president of the Nigerian Union of Traders Association in Ghana (NUTAG), Chukwuemeka Nnaji, has advised his members to close their shops today to avoid destruction of their goods and businesses.

Meanwhile, the timely intervention of police officers and the Nigerian Mission in Ghana averted a major clash between members of GUTA and NUTAG yesterday.

Prices of things are going up but those who voted Buhari are still buying things at the old prices just by saying that they voted for Buhari

In my area i know some people who are in this business with electricity workers.

Each month they come and collect their usual bribe while their bills keep rising and unattended.

I ve encouraged them to get meter for themselves so that they stop getting estimated bill but they are not interested. They are cool with bribery

Politics / Re: Fear Grows Over Attempt To Re-arrest IPOB Leader, Kanu, During Mother’s Burial by Nwadiuto247: 12:11pm On Nov 03, 2019
GistNotice:
There are fears among members and supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), that the attempt by security agencies to re-arrest the leader of the group and Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, may prevent him from attending his mother’s (Sally Meme Kanu’s) funeral.

This is even as an Abuja Court presided over by Justice Binta Nyako reportedly denied the prayers of Kanu’s counsel; Emeka Ejiofor, seeking for the restoration of his client’s bail and guarantee Kanu’s safety so that he could return home to continue his trial.

It could be recalled that Kanu in a tweet had announced the death of his mother on August 30th in Germany after attempts by doctors to restore her failing health stalled.

Kanu, who in a video also confirmed that the body of his mother had already been flown to Nigeria (Biafra Land), stating that he would communicate his supporters when the family concluded arrangements for her burial.

Our reporter, who interacted with some members of IPOB who chose to speak anonymously in Umuahia, the state capital, and Aba, the commercial nerve of the state respectively, reports that the members were yet-to-be informed about the burial arrangements.

They were afraid that their leader (Nnamdi) may not witness the burial of his mother as they alleged that information available to them has it that the federal government has placed security agencies on alert to arrest Kanu if he attempts coming back for his mother’s burial.

The IPOB members who disclosed that they were awaiting further directives from the leadership of the pro-Biafra group, however, assure that its members in Nigeria and the world at large, are making plans to ensure they were in attendance anytime the burial of late Ugoeze Kanu was fixed.

While business and other activities were ongoing at the Isiama Afara, the country home of Kanu, some of the residents who spoke to our reporter said they were sad when the news about the death of the wife of their traditional ruler broke.

They described her as a loving and caring woman that never segregate, stressing that it will take them long to recover from the shock of her loss.

Some respondents, including the President-General of the community, Mr. Ikechukwu Ndubueze, said the family of Kanu is yet to make any official statement concerning the burial apart from the video that he (Kanu) recently released.

It was further gathered from some other members of the community that according to tradition, Kanu, as the first son of the family, was supposed to be present at the burial.

But the uncertainty over whether Kanu would be present at his mother’s burial casts further doubt as to when the burial will eventually take place.

Some of the IPOB members in Umuahia told our reporter that they have been noticing the presence of plain-clothed security personnel around their leader’s village, but said that it would not deter them from actively participating in the burial of the mother of their leader when it is made known; they, however, said that making the burial of Kanu’s mum public for everyone to come and pay her last respect would make the world see that IPOB is peaceful contrary to the picture the federal government and heads of various security agencies are painting about them.

According to them, they were unaware of where the body of the wife of their traditional ruler is kept by the family. That is, whether it is in Abia State or any other part of the Southeast.

They however insisted that no matter the years it will take, the mother of the IPOB leader would not be secretly buried, but to be buried according to the customs and tradition of the people of Isiama Afara Ibeku community.

When contacted to know if the Kanu’s has reached out to the state government and the level of the state government’s participation in the burial of the wife of the traditional ruler on whose land the present Government House is situated, the Commissioner of Information, Mr. John Okiyi-Kalu, in a text message said he was in a meeting.

However, yet-to-be confirmed reports making rounds in the state have it that Kanu’s father died in a popular hospital in Umuahia, the state capital after weeks of being in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

While the family is yet to make official statement over the death of the monarch, rumours have it that His Royal Highness; Israel Okwu Kanu, has been sick and had died on Thursday, October 31.

The burial may take place 2023 when Buhari leaves power

A new president will handle the matter better than Buhari is doing. .

But ipob are too stubborn for my liking. They dont listen to people's advice. Too bad
