Music/Radio / Music As A Warning Or Prophesy With Late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister's Photo by Oba1ni(m): 10:36pm On Nov 28, 2016
I just sat and thinking about what I have known Nigeria to be, the Sikiru Ayinde Agbajelol bausati song titled "Fantasia just came to my mind, as typed below;

Nigerians which way are we going

Nigerians which way are we going

For military men to rule

Our nation at all time

Politicians let us get together

To practise democracy

In the way it should be done

Let's get together

And do things in common

For the benefit of our nation

And the incoming generations

Let's think twice before we move

Let's think twice before we move

Ema s'ope mo d'aran eyin......

Let's read from you also, which of this great musical icon's songs you think our leaders could listen to that could bring them back from the political madness we are experiencing in this present time of Nigeria?

Culture / History Of Oshodi (tapa), Lagos by Oba1ni(m): 10:43am On Nov 28, 2016
Chief Balogun Landuji Oshodi Tapa was an outstanding warrior and a statesman. During the reign of King Eshilokun, he immigrated to Lagos from Bida in what is now known as the Niger State. This was after he had lost his parents in a tribal war when he was only six years old. He put himself under the protection of the King as his servant in order to prevent himself from being taken and sold into slavery. The King in turn put him under the supervision of one of his trusted men, Fagbemi.

Some years later, one of the Portuguese merchants, a friend of King Eshilokun, asked the king to let two of his children accompany him to Portugal and he promised to bring them back. The King was very wary of this offer and he thought instead of risking the lives of any of his own children, he would offer two people loyal to him. Hence he chose Oshodi and Dada Antonio to go with the Portuguese merchant.

While the King thought he was protecting the interests of his own children, he was in fact denying them an opportunity that would have benefited them more in the future.

Oshodi and Dada Antonio went with the Portuguese merchant to America and they were later returned to the King after many years.

On arrival from America, Oshodi was employed by Messrs. G. L. Gaiser as a Commission Agent and Toll Collector. With the arrival of the ships of the Portuguese merchants, business flourished, and Oshodi’s commissions from sales increased and he eventually became a rich man. Oshodi never forgot the hands that fed him, so to speak; he continued to be loyal to the King and was made a chief solely responsible for looking after the King’s wives. He was the only one who could go into the Queen’s apartment to oversee repairs, if the need arose.

After the death of King Eshinlokun, Chief Oshodi remained loyal to his children. He particularly cast his lot with Idewu Ojulari who succeeded his father. After the reign of Chief Idewu Ojulari, Kosoko, a son of Oshinlokun, was said to be the rightful heir to the throne, but he was an enemy of Chief Eletu Odibo, whose duty was to install and crown any new king. It was said at the time, that young Prince Kosoko had seduced Eletu Odibo’s would-be wife. In retaliation, Eletu Odibo used his powerful position to crown Oluwole as the next King of Lagos in 1836.

Kosoko and other descendants of King Eshilokun were not satisfied with the decision

and were ready to show their resentment. They waged a war against King Oluwole and Chief Eletu Odibo. Kosoko and his warriors invaded Isale-Eko. The battle was fierce and prolonged but ended with victory on the side of the king’s army. Kosoko fled to Whydah, realizing the consequences of his action.

When King Oluwole died, Akitoye was crowned in 1841 as the next King of Lagos.

Conscious of the right of Kosoko to the throne, Akitoye justly decided to search for Kosoko his nephew, who had taken refuge in Whydah. He believed that he must enjoy his patronage while on the throne. Akitoye organized a search party under the command of bold and gallant Chief Oshodi. The rapidity with which the party achieved its success was directly related to the military might of Chief Oshodi.

Kosoko finally returned to Lagos with Chief Oshodi in a vessel belonging to a merchant called, Domingo.

Henceforth, Chief Oshodi worked to maintain peace between Kosoko and Akintoye, and eventually brought the two together on terms. The peace effort was thwarted by Chief Eletu Odibo who had employed all the persuasive words he could, to dissuade King Akitoye from bringing Kosoko back to Lagos. He believed that Lagoswould not contain the two of them. For a while, he did all he could to create conflicts between them, but later left Lagos for exile in Badagry.

When a war broke out between King Akitoye and Kosoko, Chief Oshodi loyally pitched his tent with Kosoko, the son of Eshilokun, through thick and thin. Akitoye asked Eletu Odibo to return to Lagos with his warriors to fight on his side. Akitoye’s men led by Eletu Odibo were soundly defeated. Eletu Odibo was captured in an ambush and killed.

With the death of Eletu Odibo, the elders advised Akitoye to escape to his mother’s town in Abeokuta. When Kosoko heard about the plan, he detailed his war chief, Oshodi, to lay ambush for Akitoye, kill him, and bring his head before him. Akitoye was in fact caught by Oshodi in the Agboyi waters, but instead of killing him, he paid homage to him and his Lord and prayed for his safe journey and safe return.

Chief Oshodi returned to report to Kosoko that Akitoye had escaped by the use of a powerful charm which put them all to sleep when he was passing. Historians were not able to assign any reason for the treatment which Oshodi gave Akitoye when in fact he was on orders to bring his head to Kosoko. In 1845, Kosoko defeated Akitoye and ascended the throne. In the meantime, Chief Oshodi remained Kosoko’s “Abagbon” war chief.

While in exile, Akitoye appealed to the British Government for help to restore him to his throne. A war broke out; the British started to bombard Lagos, setting the town on fire. Kosoko’s defense under the command of Chief Oshodi was effective and modern by the international standard of the time. After nine days of consecutive serious military actions, the British fleet unleashed excessive gun power which resulted in the defeat of Kosoko’s fleet. Under this unfavorable condition, Kosoko had to flee to Epe with Chief Oshodi and his warriors on the night of the13th of August 1853.

Akitoye was brought back to Lagos by the British Consul and was restored as the King of Lagos. Akitoye died on the 2nd of September 1853, about two weeks after Kosoko and his men had fled. In the afternoon of September 3rd, 1853, his son, Dosunmu was formally installed as the King of Lagos.

Although the war seemed to have ended with Kosoko in exile, there were sporadic raids on Lagos from Epe; disturbing the peace and trade of the island. The raids caused the British Consul Campbell, the Elders, and White Cap chiefs of Lagos, to initiate a move to reconcile the warring royal relatives.

On the 26th of January 1854, a peace conference, historically known as Langbasa meeting, was held at Agbekin (Palaver Island) about four months after King Dosunmu’s coronation. The British Consul’s party included the Commander of HMS Plato with other officers under his command, and Kosoko’s party which included Chief Oshodi Tapa and Chief Onisemo Adeburusi of Epe. They came without Kosoko in about sixty canoes each containing forty men. King Dosunmu was represented by several white cap chiefs and war chiefs.

At the opening of this remarkable conference, the Epe people, led by Chief Oshodi Tapa expressed their strong desire to return to Lagos a to the British Consul and be at peace with their friends and relatives. Chief Oshodi proposed that Kosoko be allowed to return to Lagos and live as a private person.

The proposal was not agreeable to the Consul on the basis that two Kings could not rein in Lagos. As an appeasement, Chief Oshodi was offered to return alone as the Consul for the people of Epe, but he declined the offer and insisted on Kosoko’s return from exile. Several years later in 1862, Kosoko was allowed back to Lagoswith his war chief, after signing a peace treaty negotiated with the British Consul by Chief Oshodi.

Governor Glover was very grateful for Chief Oshodi’s contributions to peace inLagos.

On their arrival to Lagos, Governor Glover sought permission from Aromire to give part of Epetedo to Chief Oshodi. For himself, his family, his followers, and servants who returned with him from Epe, he held the area under the native customary law of land tenure, subject to the native system of the devolution of land.

The palace of Oshodi is located in the center of the area of land in Epetedo. The area is uniquely laid out into 21 compounds. Four of these compounds; Oshodi, Akinyemi, Ewumi, and Alagbede courts belong exclusively to Chief Balogun Oshodi’s extended family.

For the most notable and extraordinary role of Chief Oshodi in the restoration of peace to Lagos and his contribution to the Government of Lagos, he was presented by Governor Glover on the Lagos Race Course grounds with a sword from Mr. Cardwell, the Secretary of State to the British Government. The sword was inscribed “presented by the Government of Queen Victoria to Chief Tapa in commemoration of the loyal services rendered by him to the Government ofLagos”

With his background of having been to America, Oshodi did not miss the opportunity to educate his children. He solicited Governor Glover to educate one of his children in England. This child later assumed the surname of Oshodi-Glover.

Chief Balogun Oshodi Tapa died on 2nd of July1868 about six years after his return from exile in Epe, leaving forty six surviving children. His body was laid to rest at the center of Oshodi Street in Epetedo, Lagos. The descendants of Chief Oshodi constructed an imposing edifice at his burial site, as a monument to the memory of the renowned warlord, peacemaker, and statesman. This monument has been classified as a historic site by the Lagos State Government

Celebrities / K1 S' Story...k1 Picture In The 70s.... by Oba1ni(m): 9:52pm On Nov 22, 2016
Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde was born Wasiu Omogbolahan Anifowose in 1957 in Lagos and he started his music career as a packer under the late fuji creator Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister. That was when Barrister himself was a military officer and a part time musician and Wasiu was living with him. K1 in an interview confirmed he was the one ironing his military uniform while staying with him, however, while working as a packer, young Wasiu had a fantastic musical talent that he'll sing all the songs composed by the band from start to finish without missing a line to the amazement of everyone, though not with the best voice in the world. He started experimenting his musical talent by playing the Were music during the month of Ramadan in Lagos in the 70s and won the were competition many times. He left Ayinde Barrister group to form his own band in the late 70s and called the band Prince Wasiu Ayinde Barrister and his progressive Talazo fuji messiah and nicknamed himself "Karuwa Minister"

He released his first album in 1981 and titled it "Iba Agba" where he paid homage to his mentor Ayinde Barrister and others. He released the hit album "Tala 84" in 1984 and that album brought him to limelight. Ever since he has been producing arguably the greatest run of hit albums. Every album produced has been expansive, experimental, thickly larded with indelible hits. His live shows were spectacular.

His story cannot be complete without the mention of the new Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji whose Baba Laje records labels bankrolled his first set of albums in the beginning of his career. He received many awards in music and was given the title "Olu omo" of Lagos (The golden child) by the late Oba of Lagos, Oba Adeyinka Oyekan in 1999.

He has now resumed his mentors role as the King of Fuji and continue to update his fuji music by incorporating western instruments such as saxophone, keyboards, electric guitar etc.

Family / Dear N/landers, Please What Should Morenike Do??? by Oba1ni(m): 7:31pm On Nov 19, 2016
This is a true life Story;
Morenikeji, a 42 year old woman who comes from a wealthy family got married to Dotun 12 years ago. But unfortunately the marriage was childless. Apart from coming from a wealthy home, Morenikeji also has a very good job, while Dotun is just a civil servant. About 8 years ago, Morenikeji decided to buy a land and informed Dotun about it. Dotun suggested that they should buy the land in the name of the child they hope to have one day. They agreed on a name and bought the land with the name, and Morenikeji built a very beautiful house on it. That was how Dotun encouraged Morenikeji to buy many other properties in the name of the unborn child.
Dotun died in a car accident 2 weeks ago, and Morenikeji got the shock of her life when a woman came for the burial with 2 children that belongs to Dotun. The first child is almost 9 years old, and he bears the name Dotun gave Morenikeji's unborn child. The same name on all the properties which Dotun encouraged Morenikeji to buy.
Dotun's family are now trying to claim all the properties from Morenikeji.

Family / Beware. It Is Snake Season!!!! by Oba1ni(m): 2:55pm On Nov 17, 2016
DUE TO THE HEATWAVE AND HIGH TEMPERATURES, SNAKES, ESPECIALLY COBRAS, SEEK REFUGE IN COOLER PLACES LIKE INSIDE YOUR HOME.

SAFETY TIPS

1.Avoid leaving windows open for too long. Cobras and Mambas can reach heights that are very high.

2. Avoid leaving your front doors open for fresh air in the evenings. This reptiles are absolutely STEALTHY (too quiet). You won't hear or see them go inside your house.

3 Before sitting under the tree that has that cooling shade, check the branches that there are no snakes lurking in the branches.

4.Check your bed and surrounding before you go to bed, cobras are notorious for hiding under the sheets.

5.Avoid the age old trend of liking to chill outside of the house, with mattresses and wrappers in the evening. Most reptiles are nocturnal (hunt at night and more effective)

6.Not only snakes might bite you, but also the age old human enemy; the centipede (Mosithaphala), which is fast and very venomous.

7.Clear bushes round your house. They attract rats and mice which are the favourite snacks of the most dangerous snakes favorite meal.

8.Buy snake repellent powder and pour it round your yard. You will definitely decrease the chances of a snake ever visiting your home by 90%.

Beware of confronting snakes that get into your homes. Some snakes can be killed easily, others like the black mamba are very cocky. If threatened,  they will chase you at an alarming speed and give multiple bites while still on the chase; and you might not live to see the next forty minutes. So, just be very careful when trying to kill these guys.

Stay well and be safe. It's snake season. It's very hot and they are highly active and get agitated and angry very fast.

This is for your information and safety

That it is paying a lot of people in Nigeria is beyond argument. That it is risky is no longer in doubt. That it is not regulated is a well known fact. That it is a pyramid scheme that will crash at some point... well, some agree some don’t. Amongst some that don’t quite agree are my friends who call me up asking for explanations as to how it will crash etc, so I thought to share my thoughts in an attempt to answer their questions as logically as possible. I shall use illustrations in my attempt.
To be brief, here is how it operates. Akowe, Onyahia, and Dogoyaro are so-called investors in the scheme, and they use an MMM web platform as the point of business interactions and investment management. At the point of committing actual funds, Akowe is asked to transfer either his entire investment amount (N100,000) to Onyahia or break it into two parts (N 60,000 & N 40,000) and send to Onyahia and Dogoyaro whose investments have matured. Then at maturity, for Akowe to receive his promised capital plus interest (N130,000), MMM asks other new investors – Farawe, Tatafo, Bakwomi – to transfer varying amounts to Akowe such that Akowe gets his N130,000 at the end of the investment cycle. It is the same process for everyone participating in the scheme; no one gets to transfer money to any MMM account. So it is thought to be a scheme where individuals help individuals.
If this is how it operates therefore, how does MMM make money? Where does the extra 30% come from? How does one risk losing his money or exactly how will it crash? Let me attempt to provide answers one after another.
How does MMM make money?
Although there seems not to be a corporate account for MMM in Nigeria, the promoters have individual accounts like the rest of us do. And trust me, they are on the list of the aforementioned investors in the scheme (Akowe, Onyahia, Dogoyaro, Farawe, Tatafo, and Bakwomi); thus, part of those accounts that you transfer funds to are accounts belonging to the promoters of the scheme. In addition to this seeming transactional income, there is a dooms day “hammer” which they plan to execute to bring the scheme to a close.
Where does the extra 30% come from?
The extra 30% interest on capital will always come from new investors and the existing investors who are reinvesting. It is not rocket science to know that get-rich-schemes will always appeal to humans, buoyed by the current recession in the land; add the teeming population of over 170million to that mix, and the philosophy behind the MMM scheme becomes apparent. Thus, if the government does not shut it down, and the promoters decide against ever shutting it down, there will always be new investors until it reaches saturation like every other pyramid scheme without products or service of value.
How does one risk losing his money or exactly how will it crash?
Let me bulletise the possibilities
• If the government decide to shut it down because they are not regulated, everyone who has committed actual funds will lose 100% of what they have transferred to whoever
• Since the promoters are not known, your access can be disabled after making your transfers, with no one to run to for any sort of help
• The planned dooms day that you don’t know about, but will come before the scheme reaches that saturation point
The dooms day is the main objective of the scheme. True, the promoters are stealthily making what seems to be transactional income from new investors, which will continue until the target population is exhausted and it crashes like every other pyramid scheme without products or service of value. This is one form of a dooms day, but with less devastating impact on the investing public, as some clear crashing signs would be seen before the final crash. Forget it! This is not the one I dread, and it is certainly not the one the promoters have in store for the unwary investors.
The planned dooms day therefore, is the one the promoters have scheduled to execute at their own time, when there is a lot of money in the system, when people have a lot of confidence in the system, and when there is a sizable number of investors. The day they will “hammer” beyond imaginations. This day is known only to them, as they are the only ones with the global view of the scheme; and when they strike, the damaging effects will be far reaching. This is the day I dread. Here is how it will be carried out.
In the week or month of the execution, the system in the usual process, will ask the investing public to make transfers to other investors say Akowe, Dogoyaro, and Tatafo, all of whom are the promoters of the business but seen as fellow investors by unsuspecting investors; after all, the investors today don’t even know each other. That way, all the money in the scheme will be brilliantly moved into the accounts of the real promoters of the scheme. During this period, those with matured earnings may be asked to exercise patience for a few days or a week that will never end. And off goes your capital plus the expected 30% interest forever, yes forever. Believe it or not, your friend may be one of the promoters, and he is sure to feign pain the day you lose maybe your life savings to this scheme. But I pray you don’t.
These are my thoughts or my opinions as you may want to call them. Have I answered all your questions? Maybe not. Have I cleared all your doubts? Maybe not. Have I said my view is the perfect one? Oh certainly not. Have I made a decision for you? Far from it.
I say again, this is an attempt to explain to friends why I am not investing in the scheme. And in my own rights, I believe this is sound enough for my position.

Family / Happy Wedding Anniversary To Mike & Gloria Bamiloye by Oba1ni(m): 12:54pm On Oct 09, 2016
THIS DAY ON OCTOBER 8TH, 1988 WE MARRIED.
A marriage born out of raw faith in the Lord alone. We were two years into full time drama ministry when we married on this day 28 years ago. I had spent all the money I had on ministry matters and I had no more money.
TODAY I REMEMBER THAT IT WAS JUST May 2016, this year, WE GOT OUR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE FROM A REGISTRY IN IBADAN.
So we married without a Government marriage Certificate. WHY?
We both went to Ilesha to file for the Marriage Certificate when it was two months to our wedding, but we did not have the money to pay for the Registration. We were to pay about N120, or so, but we did not have the money. So we told the registry we would come back and we never went back, because we did not have the money. therefore, it was the Church Certificate only we had until may this year, when it was demanded at an embassy for Visa. Then, I searched the house and came up the Church Marriage Certificate, and I then remember that the Visa Officer would not accept that. So, I went to a Registry in Ibadan and secure OUR GOVERNMENT MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE after 28 years.
The Marriage was born out of deep faith.
I remember it was my Best Man who bought my Wedding Suit and shirt. May God bless him wherever he is now. It was my Sister-in-Law who bought the shoes i wore on my wedding day. It was a ministry member who gave us money to sow the Wedding Gown, because we had already gone to a place where we could rent the Wedding Gown. It was the money my Sister-in-Law sent to us I used to deposit for the seats in our living room. May the Lord bless Sister Taye, my sister-in-law.
It was my Mama-Sister, (my elder sister) who got the 3-Room-Flat we married into. she paid the first year rent. May the Lord ever blessed MUMMY Felicia Adesiyan. It was my another elder sister who got the Boys Bridgade that played for us as we were driving into the Reception place at Ilesha Grammar School, in a car that belonged to one of my Cousins. May God always remember Mummy Ropo Obaleye.
I remember all the monetary gift given to us on the Wedding Day were used to pay some outstanding debts incurred on ministry printings we made before the wedding and some debts on the wedding programs. So three days after the Wedding, we had no money again and the idea of Honey-Moon never even crossed our mind, because there was no money to attempt such luxury.
I REMEMBER, that the following Saturday, our ministry had a drama ministration in Ilesha, at the Advertisers for Jesus Christ, Ishokun, Ilesha. That was a week after our Wedding Day. AND GLORIA OLUSOLA AND I HAD TO STAND BESIDE THE ROAD LOOKING FOR A LIFT THAT COULD CARRY US TO ILESHA.
There was absolutely no money on us, a week after our wedding, to go to our next drama ministration. So, I had to walk to my Elder Sister's house, to ask her for money to travel. She gave us enough money. God bless Mummy Adesiyan. We travelled to Ilesha and met the brethren waiting for us at the venue of Ministration of our first outreach after wedding. That was then.....28 Years Ago.
OUR MARRIAGE WAS BORN OUT OF DEEP-ROOTED FAITH....
But today....the Lord has been Faithful.
Today...the Lord has been wonderful to us.
The Marriage has been fruitful and Productive.
BUT THE JOURNEY OF FAITH HAS NOT STOPPED SINCE THEN.
THE MARRIAGE THAT WAS BORN OUT OF FAITH...HAS CONTINUED TO GROW BY FAITH....
WE HAD ALL OUR CHILDREN IN FAITH....
THEY GREW UP AND WENT TO SCHOOLS IN FAITH....
THEY GRADUATED FROM UNIVERSITIES IN FAITH.....
AND THEY ARE ON FULL TIME TOGETHER WITH US IN FAITH.....
ALL THE GLORY BELONG TO JESUS THE CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD, OUR REDEEMER.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US AND CELEBRATE... GLORIA BAMILOYE, A WOMAN WHO
MARRIED A MAN WHO HAD NOTHING BUT FAITH....RAW FAITH....
HEBREWS 11:6
"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

Politics / Letters Between Chief Obafemi Awolowo & Major-general Yakubu Gowon by Oba1ni(m): 2:37pm On Oct 06, 2016
CHIEF OBAFEMI AWOLOWO'S RESIGNATION LETTER FROM THE FEDERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL DATED JUNE 13, 1971 TO GENERAL YAKUBU GOWON

June 13, 1971.

My dear Commander-in-Chief,

You will recall that in a statement made by me and published in the SUNDAY TIMES of March 30, 1969, I declared, among other things, as follows:

“Even at the federal level, I have no desire whatsoever, and I certainly cannot be tempted or induced to develop one, to head, or participate in an unelected or even an electoral-college elected civil administration in a military or any setting. At the moment, I am participating in the activities of the military government because I have been invited, and I also think it is right, so to do.
I am, therefore, obliged, morally and for the purpose of keeping Nigeria united, to take part, as fully as I can, in any measure designed, in particular, to keep the Ibos as a constituent ethnic unit in the federation of Nigeria, enjoying equal and identical status and benefits with other ethnic units, and in general, to preserve Nigeria as an economic and political entity.”

I should have, in accordance with this declaration, relinquished my present offices soon after the end of the civil war in January last year. But one main matter decided me against such an immediate course of action. As you know, before January 1970, the four-year development and reconstruction plan had been under active preparation, and it had been hoped that it would be launched early in the 1970/71 fiscal year. It was my strong desire to participate in the consideration of this plan. As it turned out, however, the plan was not actually considered until August 1970.

By that time, three other factors had supervened. First, the capital estimates for 1970/71 had been delayed until the launching of the four-year development plan, which did not take place until November last year. At this late stage, I decided that the capital estimates of 1970/71 should be incorporated into those of 1971/72.

Second, by November 1970, the time for the introduction of the 1971/72 budget was only some four months away.

Third, as from September 1970, our foreign exchange position had started to undergo an unusual rapid deterioration. It occurred to me, in all these circumstances:

-that it would be untidy for me to leave without completing the budget for 1970/71;
-that it would be hardly fair to my successor for me to leave at a time when preparations for the 1970/71 budget had actively begun under my direction, and;
-that it might be interpreted in some circles as an act of bad faith for me to leave at a time when our foreign exchange was in such a bad state, and no sensible formula had been found for arresting its deterioration.

Now with the peace and unity of our great country fully restored and firmly re-established; with the four-year development plan already considered and launched and the capital estimates for 1970/71 completed; with the 1971/72 budget done and a reasonable solution devised for our acute foreign exchange, I feel free to act in accordance with one of my fundamental beliefs, referred to in paragraph 1 above, and publicly declared on March 10, 1969-EIGHTEEN CLEAR MONTHS before the military government’s political programme was announced by you on October 1, 1970.

I would, therefore, like to notify you that, with effect from July 1, 1971, I am no longer willing to continue in the offices of federal commissioner for Finance and vice-president of the Federal Executive Council.

Supplementary to the forgoing, there is another important reason for my present action. After four truly (I hesitate to say exceedingly) exacting (though thoroughly stimulating and educative) years in the Federal Ministry of Finance which, throughout the period, was incessantly beset with fiscal and monetary problems of unprecedented dimensions, and of peculiarly complex and tantalizing nature, I deem it to be in the interest of my continued good health to have a complete change of full-time occupation.

As to my future plan, I have decided to go back to legal practice. I also want to seize the opportunity, which the military government’s six-year political programme provides, to write, if my professional engagement permit, three books which have always been very much on my mind.
The research connected with two of these books will take me to selected developing countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, as well to ECA and OAU secretariats in Addis Ababa, the offices of some United Nations agencies in New York, and London University.

I would like to state that though, by this resignation, I am leaving your government and literary activities as mentioned above, it does not mean that I am completely relinquishing all public services to our country and people.

On the contrary, it is my resolve to continue, in all circumstances and until my life’s end, to see the best interests of our fatherland, and promote the welfare and happiness of our people, in every way possible.

In this connection, I would like to assure you that I shall always be willing, on a purely AD HOC basis and providing my professional commitments permit, to render, at your request and without any remuneration whatsoever, any particular service which is within my competence to give.

After my appointment in 1967, I submitted to you a STATEMENT OF AFFAIRS (i.e. OF MY ASSETS AND LIABILITIES) as at June30, 1967. In keeping with the code of conduct to which I subscribed, I am obliged to send you my statement of affairs as at June 30, 1971. It is, however, not possible to send the statement along with this letter. But my accountants are already working on it and as soon as it is finalized up to June 30, 1971, I shall forward it to you.

In closing, I would like, in all sincerity, to say two things:

Firstly, I have tremendously enjoyed working with you; and it is not without considerable reluctance, therefore, that I have to take this step.
Secondly, I will always remember with deep gratitude, your kindness to me in releasing me from prison, and in giving me, within a year of my release, an opportunity to serve our people of Nigeria once again in a ministerial capacity, and at a time when the very existence of our fatherland was in grave peril.

With best wishes to Victoria and your good self, and love to Ibrahim.

Yours very sincerely,
OBAFEMI AWOLOWO.

GENERAL YAKUBU GOWON'S REPLY:

My dear Chief,

I wish to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated June3, 1971, intimating me of your decision to relinquish your appointments as the vice-president of the Federal Executive Council and Federal Commissioner for Finance with effect from July 1, 1971.

For some time, there have been rumours about your leaving the government, but I was sure, however, that if there was such an intention you would have not hesitated to notify me.

Since I know that you must have taken your decision after the most careful consideration, no useful purpose would be served by any attempt to make change your mind.

It is, therefore, with the greatest regret and reluctance that I have to concede to your request.
In accepting your decision, I would like to place on record my personal appreciation of your most valuable contribution to our achievements during the last four years.

You have earned for yourself respect from all of us who have seen you at close quarters, for your patriotism, coupled with a strong well-meaning conviction on issues of national importance.

I respect your maturity, objectivity, and sagacity, all of which you placed at my disposal; above all, for your advice and co-operation at all times.

Your outstanding performance as this government’s Commissioner for Finance during one of the most critical and turbulent periods of our history will always be remembered. You demonstrated, consistently, great courage, forthrightness, leadership, and a spirit of understanding which helped us to get out of our financial disaster.

That we did not succumb to the temptation to devalue our currency during the crisis and were able to win the war entirely out of our own resources and face resolutely the immediate post-war problems of rehabilitation, reconstruction and reconciliation was due, in no small measures, to your skill in the management of our finances.

I am aware that your position in this government, particularly as Commissioner for Finance, will be difficult to fill. However, I have a consolation in the fact that during your tenure of office, you laid a sound foundation on which your successors could build and carry on the good work.

I have no doubt that, at this moment, you will have the feeling that you have done your best. I share your feelings, too; and wish to extend my appreciation of the contribution of your dear wife who had had to bear more than her share of domestic burdens as a result of your public assignment.

I am glad to note and to accept your offer to hold yourself in readiness for assignment which the Federal Government may consider necessary to give you even when you will no longer be directly associated with public life.

Since there will be occasions soon for me and your colleagues in government to state our assessment of your contribution to the service of this nation in the last four years, I now merely wish to say how sorry I am to lose your services. We will miss your great sense of humour, your debating ability and useful suggestions at all times.

On behalf of myself, your colleagues on the Federal Executive Council, and the people of our great country, I wish you many more years of useful life.

My wife and Ibrahim join me in wishing you every success in your next sphere of life.

Yours most sincerely,
MAJOR-GENERAL YAKUBU GOWON
Head of the Federal Government

Jobs/Vacancies / FCSC To Make The Recruitment Process Public by Oba1ni(m): 9:42pm On Oct 05, 2016
As posted on facebook by;
Hon Ayodeji Joseph

The difficulties faced by our youths in accessing the online portal of the Federal Civil Service Commission to apply for recently advertised vacancies gained prominence in the House of Representatives today.
Debating the issue under a motion of urgent national importance, the House noted the frustrations faced by Nigerians to apply on the Commission's portal this past few days.
We are worried that the portal which reportedly opens late in the night for a few minutes has the potential of depriving the nation the services of qualified Nigerians from across the country.
The House therefore passed a resolution mandating the Federal Civil Service Commission to rectify the issue with the portal and ensure a 24 hour access by applicants. It was also resolved that the FCSC should consider extending the deadline for submission of applications.
To ensure transparency of the recruitment process, the House resolved to compel the FCSC to make the recruitment process public so that Nigerians are not short-changed.
The House Committee on Federal Character was also mandated to investigate the issue and report back to the House within one week for further legislative action.
I appeal to my constituents going through difficulties applying to exercise patience. We are on top of the situation. The issues will be sorted out as soon as possible.

Politics / A Little Advise To The Nigerian Government by Oba1ni(m): 11:32pm On Sep 16, 2016
Unfortunately the root cause of poverty in Nigeria has been mis-diagnosed. The root cause is under utilization of human resources (170 million strong) and not corruption. That is why a Governor in Ekiti can say because he did not get enough allocation from Abuja, he cannot pay salaries and has turned his State into an IDP camp. This is a reflection of the wrong governance structure we are running due to past easy funds from oil, which has created a Dutch disease or rent seeking economy. We are not even an oil producing country, we just happen to be located on it. The foreign companies are the real producers, they just pay us the royalty they deem fit. This time it's going to be a long war, however, if Government can quickly retrace it's steps and spend the 80% of its energy it's spending on fighting corruption to restructuring the country the earlier and better for us as a Nation.

Family / Bride Caugth Having ‘s*x’ With Ex Boyfriend On Wedding Day In An Uncompeleted Bu by Oba1ni(m): 10:36am On Sep 08, 2016
A suggestive picture of a bride having a last s*xual encounter with her ex-boyfriend a short distance away from her wedding venue has emerged.

A Facebook user, Bukola Atupa Ajeigbe shared an odd photo of an unnamed bride preparing to be bonked from behind in doggy fashion by an ex boyfriend shockingly on the day of her wedding with her full outfit on.
The duo retreated to an uncompleted building discreetly for the illicit act as the marital event progressed before they were busted by one of the bridesmaid.
The details about the development remain sketchy.
After-thoughts also have it that the picture could have been taken from a movie scene although the faces of the characters or persons are not known on the television screens.

Jobs/Vacancies / FG Insists Unemployed Nigerians Must Register Online To Benefit From Social Inte by Oba1ni(m): 2:07pm On Aug 29, 2016
Minister of Labor and Employment, Chris Ngige, has said that for any unemployed Nigerian to benefit from any of the social intervention scheme (SIS) of the government, they must register online as registration is now mandatory for job seekers and other empowerment programmes. Ngige stated this while flagging off the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) School-to-Work Programme in Calabar, Cross River State over the weekend.

He said this against the backdrop of different agencies of government laying claim to the ownership of the programmes.
“You must register to benefit from the Social Intervention Scheme. Unfortunately, as we speak, by last week, the portal has only recorded about 1.2 million persons. We expect more persons to have been registered in the portal before our screening exercise; the registration on the portal is Npower.ng.org.
The portal closes Aug. 31, which is just few days away. For those who are not computer literate, we advise state governments to encourage them by using local government chairmen to move into local government areas to register the unemployed persons there. So that they can qualify to be considered for the scheme. Each state of the federation is expected to recruit about 1, 500 persons’’ he said
