victorels:

so how does replacing those images with prisoners teach children local Language?
Does those images lead to crime?

The essence of that question was to ensure students understands and that they do not forget their local dialect.

Local language is to foster unity and understanding across the ethnic groups in Nigeria. But that is not realizable as there are way overthere 400 ethnic group.
The introduction of the three major ethnic groups is the major cause of dis-unity. Other ethnic groups feel marginalized such that they want their freedom from the zone they were grouped in.
His response was irrelevant. He would be worst than bokoharam if he were to be from a known region in Nigeria that believe western education is evil.

I agree that those responses were really bad and totally unrelated to the questions..

But I disagree with what you say about the introduction of the three major ethnic groups..
The three major ethnic groups you speak of are only used in the context of describing the biggest ethnic groups..

Only ignorant people and stupid people believe that only 3 ethnic groups exist in Nigeria..

The only thing that is three is the three lands divided by the river Niger and the river Benue..

Historically those two rivers separated the people on the three sides..
And the Delta was where the Western and the Eastern sides merged as well as the parts closest to the rivers..

In recent history we have hardly ever heard of any major conflict between people on the same side of the river..

The people in the South Eastern side historically had closer ties to the people of Cameroon than with the people of the South Western side..

Some people in the South East have Bantu ancestry..
Bantu people originate from Cameroon and migrated from there to Southern and Central Africa initially seeking tropical rain forests before merging with the Khoi-San in Botswana and forming the Zulu..
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=zulu+map&espv=2&biw=1304&bih=707&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMIyr6JiqfmyAIVylwaCh3QiwPJ#tbm=isch&q=bantu+map&imgrc=772Vrn0Il5SRjM%3A
The people of the South Western side had closer ties with the people of Benin Republic than with the people of the South Eastern side..
They were also colonialised by the people from the North who Islamised them..
The people of the North Middle Eastern side had closer ties with the people of Northern Cameroon and Chad and Lybia..
In fact there is a region called Adamawa region in Cameroon just like Adamawa state in Nigeria..
Adamawa is a branch of Fulani..
Other branches of Fulani are also present in Chad and Niger such as the Wodabe branch in Niger..
The people of the Northern side like the Hausa and Kanuri were originally indigenous to the Maghreb, the Sahel and North Africa before those territories were conquered by the Southern Europeans and the Arab people from the Middle East..
The people of North Nigeria descend from long dynasties of Moors that stretched across Northern Africa and the Sahel..
These Moorish kingdoms stretched from Timbuktu in Mali in the west, to Kano and Zaria and Sokoto in Nigeria all the way to Darfur in Sudan in the East..
The prevalence of Dogon architecture and Islam proves this..http://kcm.co/bethany/p_maps1/8035.gif
Hausa is spoken in various region of the Sahel..http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/4085/1839/1600/Sahel.gif
Even in Sudan..

To some extent everybody has been shuffled and scattered in Africa so if you could go back in the family tree of some people from the East you will probably see some people from the West or the North and viceversa..
So in terms of genetics we are all a big shuffle to varying degrees..

But we all share the same origins anyway as we all come from the Rift Valley of Ethiopia..

However, tribes and ethnicities and languages are real and they have importance..
I don't advocate division but I totally reject unification under a wrong cause..
So I wholeheartedly agree with anyone who says "let's be friends and let's coexist peacefully" but I absolutely disagree with anyone who says "forget your language we have English now"..

I totally drifted off topic lol..

Don't mind these people..
Anthony Anwuka did well..

Education in Igbo State Imo State the Eastern Heartland is also doing good thanks to his policies and his reforms..
Imo State consistently gets top scores in the country in education results..
Any effort to extend those qualities to the other states in the federal republic is welcome..

His response to the last question was really bad I must admit..
It wasn't even related to the question, it was just weird..
Honestly it was probably the worst thing I've ever heard in that ministerial screening..

It was probably due to pressure and tension..

Anyways he is part of the team that his Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari has put together to drive Nigeria forward so he is not to be underestimated..
His Curriculum and his experience is also very impressive..

Overall his screening wasn't as bad as this people are making it seem..

Enemies of progress..

Why isn't that man in prison exactly??

Even Murtala Muhammed that is celebrated as a national hero was the man who led the expedition in Asaba in 1967 where they killed innocent civilians for no reason..

I'm all for peace and progress, but this Gowon of a guy and his friends who caused the bombings and starvation of South East Nigeria should be in prison..

The Biafrans didn't attack Nigerians, the Biafrans wanted only one thing, to be separated and independent from Nigeria..
And as they did that they were terrorised and bombed and murdered..

""be part of Nigeria or we kill you"" that was the message..

There was absolutely no moral justification for all those people who died..

I agree that we are all brothers and sisters and that we should all get along and make peace, but you can't just kill 3 million innocent people and then smile afterwards and get away with it..

What the Bleep

Nigeria needs to be rebuilt from scratch I tell you..
The internal economy and politics must be restructured and the external influences must be seriously scrutinised and assessed..

If you ask me there should be a serious credible referendum where Nigierians voice out the most fundamental issues in that nation..
And those issues must be addressed and revisited regularly..

Until that happens, 180 million people are literally governed by strangers..

The politicians are supposed to represent the people of a country..

If 70% of the population is below 40, then 70% of the politicians should be below 40..
Instead 100% of politicians is above 50..

If 50% of the population is female then 50% of the politicians should be female..
Instead less than 10% of politicians are female..

If 70% of the population lives on less than 5$ a day than 70% of the politicans should live on less than 5$ a day..
Instead 100% of the politicians are millionaires or even billionaires self..

Anyway, at least somethings are changing with this new administration..

They were all good apart from Lai Mohammed and Christ Ngige and Khaddija Abbah Ibrahim..
All these people did was laugh and tell jokes..

What the hell has that got to do with improving the livelihood of 180 million people??

As for the others like Fayemi an Fashola who have been dismissing allegations, all they did is provide claims and counter-claims but we have no way of knowing if it's true or not..
The allegations themselves we don't know how they even came to be..
Nevertheless many people say those two did well in their times as governors..

So far I'm hopeful..

Culture / Re: Igbo-Nigerian Men Are The Most Handsome Men In Africa! by Obiobi8(m): 4:17am On Oct 08, 2015
@jenifa "d proper african" um NO.

as you can see there were more Africans from the Bight of Benin (yoruba strong hold) than Biafra.

As you can see that map/ image is incorrect..
Just because it is in a nice image (without reference and without anything) doesn't mean it is true..
Any reputable and referenced article you can find will tell you that most of the slaves came from South East Nigeria and Cameroon..
Mostly Igbo..
Even all the African Americans that do the DNA test to show where their ancestors came from mostly show as Cameroonians..
That is because before the Nigerian imaginary borders were created, Igbos and the people from the South Eastern side of the Niger/Benue river had more contact with the Cameroonians than with the Edo and Benin and Yoruba (just as the Yourbas and Edo had more contact with "Benin republic" hence the name, just as the Adamawa Fulani had more contact with the rest of the Fulani in North Cameroon, Chad and Niger, just as the Kanuri and Hausa had more contact with the Dogon people from Mali plus the Fulani plus the Beduins and Berbers in North Africa who turned them into muslims)..
Believe it or not some Igbos actually have direct Bantu and Zulu ancestry from central and southern Africa (as well as other ancestries)..
The people in the West side of the Niger were strangers or enemies to the Igbos at the time..
In fact many of the slaves were sold by the Edo people in the Benin kingdom..
So I don't think the people in Eastern side and Western side of the Niger river were best friends at the time..

So, the number of slaves from South East Nigeria/ Cameroon and the number from Central Western was probably equal..
Or more from South East Nigeria/Cameroon..
Many also from Benin Republic and many also from all other coastal African regions..
Some also from North East Nigeria..

Politics / Re: The Average IQ Of Nigeria Is 69 by Obiobi8(m): 11:00pm On Sep 11, 2015
You have to take the data for what it is..
The test results have shown a lower IQ level in Sub Saharan Africa..

And that's all there is to it..

It's not throwing an insult really..

It is simply data..

It does not mean that nothing can ever change that..
It does not mean that every Sub Saharan African is less capable or less intelligent..
It does not mean many things really..

But you can not disregard this data..
Numbers do not lie..

Now, if you wish to further investigate and understand what may cause Africans to have lower IQ, then you can start doing research and you will see that everything adds up..

For example, it is statistically true that children who are beaten when they are small tend to have a lower IQ than children who are not beaten..
Many studies have been done about this and it has been shown that children who have been beaten as kids grow up to be more violent, more irrational and with a lower IQ..

http://www.unh.edu/news/cj_nr/2009/sept/lw25straus.cfm

Mhmmm, perhaps it might have something to do with how we are brought up by our parents as almost all Nigerians have memories of being beaten as kids by their parents and by their teachers..
Studies also show that kids who are beaten in their teenage years are even more likely to be more aggressive, violent and with lower IQ..
Not only were we beaten, but we were also subjected to states of condensed fear and anxiety at very young ages..
This has been statistically demonstrated to have very drastic psychological effects in a child's life..

In Nigeria we just consider it perfectly normal to beat your kid until he is trembling in fear and in pain, crying without even knowing or understanding what he has done wrong as he asks "what did I do" and the parent doesnt even properly explain what he did..

It has also been statistically demonstrated that first born children tend to have a higher IQ than other siblings..
Although statistics show that their IQ is only higher by a single point, it might have something to do with why, countries like China and Europe (where almost everybody is a first born) tend to have a much higher IQ level..

Whereas countries like Sub Saharan Africa, where the average couple has between 7 and 25 kids, has a lower national average IQ..

Many Sub Saharan African children are also subjected to malnourishment at birth and during pregnancy and all of this also inhibits the proper development of the child in his early years, crippling them in the long run..

Another very important thing to note is also the fact that IQ is not really a talent but rather it is a skill..
It is something which can be trained and developed through practice hence why as we grow our IQ also changes and it peaks at a certain age..

Just looking at the generally manual life of the average Sub Saharan African, it is not surprising to find out that our brains are untrained..
Unlike the average life of kids in France or in Japan where very little is done by hand and almost everything is done with their head..

These are only a few of the things that contribute to making someone have a low IQ..
And in Sub Saharan Africa we basically just do all the wrong things..

This then affects our lives, our economies, our social interactions and our well being as a people..

To be honest, all these lists and compilations of beautiful images don't do justice for the overwhelming majority of underdeveloped Nigeria..

Sure a lot has been done and we can give ourselves a pat on the back for it, but what has been done so far is no where near the level that can be called good or impressive..

The problem with Nigerian cities is that the designers and planners don't think forward..

They build a house here a house there a building here a building there..

That's not what we need..

We need sustainable public residences that can house 170 million people today and 450 million people in the next 50 years..

What we need to build is cities built in grids like the ones in Italy and Spain and France..

Where every building is on average between 6 and 13 floors high..

These are called "condominio" and they house hundreds of families in each one..

It is crucial that we start building higher buildings and more organised..

This isn't even a matter of business anymore..

This will be a humanitarian crisis if something isn't done fast..

The cities in Nigeria are just messy..

They are very poorly designed and very inefficiently designed..

A lot of effort is being done..

That is obvious but effort alone is not enough..

You need the city to be smart too in the distribution of housing, businesses, local shops, factories etc..

Everything has to be correct from the start otherwise you are only going to build until all you have is a mess..

And we can see it already with the crazy traffic..
