Couple of guys met me while perfecting my mold .They all keep saying people no longer use big dish its obsolete, its too big , where do I put this monster. Its meant for analogue TV etc.I just keep laughing my ass off.I replied just wait and see. you will be amazed with what you will see when I finally hang the king.

Try the idman TV on azerspace on 46e. Someone receiving idman TV on 1.8m in Maiduguri.

Now we have clue if 1.8m is receiving that sat. People in eastern Nigeria should try and give us feed back since that signal footprint is from east africa. At least from 2.4m -3m

I read so much about satellite internet yesternight and with the knowledge we have with satellite TV technology we should be able to do something if we can lay our hands on lnb,buc and modem.

Hopefully we can get cheap satellite internet provider from Europe.

I read about tooways in Europe but I doubt if we can receive eutelsat 9e here in Nigeria.
It will be fun if we can channel our zeal into new ideas.
I will employ all the gurus to let discuss this and let's see if its much pocket friendly.
With satellite internet we can watch TV and browse simultaneously.

ARABSAT established by Arab league nations, EUTELSAT by EU, ASIASAT by East Asians. Can African union afford to provide AFRISAT?

Yes we did but breeze don carry comot him orbital position.
Na juju power we take lunch am na terrestrial power he take commot him orbital position.
The problem with Africans leader is that they are not united they just keep deceiving themselves in that AU meetings.
What stops them from discussing the way forward for Africans in term of agriculture ,health, science ,technology and engineering.etc.in the African union meetings.
Bringing like minded people together all over Africa and encourage them to develop Africa, solve African problem using technology available here in Africa.if possible give them advance training overseas just for the purpose of developing Africa.
I watched Obama yesterday on aljazeera news discussing on the way forward on climate change in the states.I just keep telling myself when will Africa really stand up to tackle their problems.
People were moving/ migrating from Africa to Europe to kill themselves via illegitimate means through land and seas yet we said we have African union.
Fela don't sing am' wetin unite inside united nation' war in Sudan, genocide among huthi ,.....phobia in southafrica, starvation in Africa, drought in Africa.
This continent is a shame to the rest of the continents.no wonder they call us 3rd world.

I don't know why, I just don't like the sight of big dishes from 3m and above, its like heaven wants to fall. I think from technology point of view, there should be a paradigm shift to smaller dishes with the maximum pegged at 2.4m. I remember in those days Big and heavy televisions were the ones in vogue but now things have become smaller, stronger & better so satellite dish manufacturing should not be an exception.

This is where creativity comes in ,if your dish is extremely big and you hate the way it looks you can do some artistic work / paint to make it more environmental friendly and appealing than the usual black and grey color.
Try Google skyuk man in Spain .read how he solved people s problem with big dish look.

start with materials used..compare galvanized steel/pan dish vs steel local made dish which one can easily get rusted/galvanized steel is coated with zinc to avoid rusting ..compare the most with accurate focal length!..smooth dish surfaces on foreign pan/galvanized dish vs steel local made dish of same size..then check the results!weight also a factor etc..however try to appreciate your local made satellite antennas...etc

The choice of materials can't affect the performance as such it can only be a contributing faction.steel, galvanized and fibre glass perform the same if accuracy is achieved on the entire parabolic curve/surface all convergence rays will converge at the focal point forming a powerful circular spot but if the surface isn't accurate the convergence ray will scatter at the focal point hence it will reduce the performance of the dish.
We should concentrate more on our parabolic curve and make good smooth surface to achieve good result.

Andrew 's dish ,channel's dish and co. all started locally before going international .we need to work more on our fabrication and we need encouragement as well.
Even if its industrial its still made by man.the only diff is in quantity and not quality .remember GIGO in computer class .

[quote author=spartacus11 post=36543211] you're much on point but u guys need to charge us what common man can afford, so we can all. Enj

Absolutely... but the materials is another thing.if the materials is cheap total cost of production will be very very cheap. That is one thing I observe.Fabricators don't increase price but people selling materials inflate their price .we can have cheap dishes if we do more research to where we can get cheap and quality materials for the construction in the meantime we would work towards flexible pricing based on the materials available.
But the bottom line we should stick too is quality.

EMMAACHILE:

The truth is foreign dishes perform better than local ones. To be equal in size, the local one has to go bigger. What I mean is this a 3m foreign Dish will perform like some 4m local dishes.
Someone with a 2.6m foreign Dish is getting some ku tps more than my local 3m Dish. Also I notice the cband in this my local Dish is as powerful as the foreign 2.6m dish

If the geometry is wrong their is no way you can get perfect alignment to the satellites with any dish
Yes we use the same parabolic equation but in our designs and construction we fail to take note of things that can aid poor signal performance.
Precision is the key word to get things right.
Local or foreign fabricator without precision nothing will work.
Its a step at time we need to encourage our local fabricators and give them rooms for improvement.
Viva FTA.

I like this, I think every local fabricator should be encouraged, and Bros u know our needs u can still look for a way to make it cheaper for us to afford

Working on the way forward to hunting down foreign and home TV in Africa.

You have 2 options first option neatly cut a side such that you can slot the lnb in by the side.
Option 2 construct another by replicating the same 3 legs but with diff diameter that your feedhorn can fit in.

Please I think when a dish is more deeper, is an ability to get more satellite but if a satellite dish is not deep it gets less satellite . Maybe by the end of these year I will construct 4 meter dish. my number is 0546637019 u will not trust me but when am done then u will know.

No .Deep doesn't mean it get more satellite deep means terrestrial interference have little effect on it unlike its partner shallow.shallow is good but its problem is earth interference.so to me your choice of f/d has to do with the degree of interference in your site.deep dish may be good in your area while in my area its shallow but the bottom line is the which ever you choose .you Will still get good signal .

There is nothing wrong if they charge a fee. Its better for some people especially tenants to use small dishes instead of the wahala of these big dishes.

You are very correct but did you know its this MBC that bring out the best in me while searching for MBC here in Lagos around late 90s later I got to know that I can track it using 2.4m .
I purchased one and spent good 12hrs tracking nilesat I got it around 10pm at night. I shouted eureka I was on top of the world then today I have installed so many of it.its a big passion doing it on your own than being spoon fed by paying some amount.
You have the right to bring comfort into your house its here we always think landlord will do their worst.if you are my landlord after you have quoted you rules and as a fanatic satellite lover I will also give you my rules too.
sat TV.its already in my DNA so packing into your house can't take it away .take it or otherwise.
Good for those without space.

Good news for people living in west africa, now ACTV has just add MBC 1,2,3,4 ACTION, MAX, DRAMA, AND BOLLYWOOD on Amos 5 @17E Frequencies of 11967 V 30000 and 12003 V 30000 respectively. All channels is free. I wish all of you good luck.

Now we can blame ACTV and co for taking MBC from the reach of a common man and not DSTV.
They want to sell what is free to us na wahoooo.Good for those who can afford it.
From 2.4m to 3m now may be 4/5m to get free MBC.
I see it coming in years to come their might be a law banning big dish in this country all they want is to milk us dry nothing is free to them .haba MBC that I have known since 1999 back in kano.
And till date its still free in middle east.
