akplatnum2005: Why are some people found of asking annoying questions, can't you use internet to help your self, why are people so lazy to explore info on their own, please we need to kick start our common sense, put yourself to work. Do you think we are lazy if yes how do we get out of being lazy.also don't forget to drop the tp and dish size. Going throughout the whole thread this is what you see and you ask yourself the same questions over and over again some still call you around mid night to tell you my signal strength is dropping.its a funny thread with funny people.Nothing to learn just read and laugh things off. |

Concerning the odour coming from poultry facilities in the neighbourhood I have a proven technology that can solve that.I have done for couple of farmers and I have an experimental farm for people who may be interested to see and smell with their noses. |

Passion without adequate knowledge in poultry business will take you to no where no matter how much you spend.Experience counts in handling poultry business. And don't put all your eggs in one basket if you do you may develop high blood pressure except if you have financial backings elsewhere.its good when you have the money and stock 1000 if you are able to sell all your eggs and you have more demand you go to 2000 then you must have studied diseases prevention, market situation, biosecurity, waste handling etc .Then if you have large market for your eggs or chicken you project and expand. Then passion, experience, knowledge will keep you moving at high pace. You must give room for downtime it will surely come.downtime such as mortality and drop in sales and the stress . My advice to farmers to be.Its fun but thread it gently.its easier said than done.but the reward is always there. All the best 3 Likes 1 Share |

Going by ptv sport,s footprint you will need close to 4m and above to be able to nail it.The signal power is very low.in uganda I guess you are in footprint.if only we have some split over here in 9ja then may be 3m should be fine but I still doubt it. Irib from iran is our best bet for now with less than 1.2m dish you can still enjoy your favourite.epl and champions league. |

DUNKA: Goodday house please which is better for paid subscription based on current situations and channels lineup; My Tv, Startimes and Go Tv?Dunka, I don't think you need to pay anybody if you can afford the necessary equipment and a professional handles your installations. You will have free movies, both america and yoruba movies, for news you will have press TV, CNN, BBC, and aljazeera news including local news AIT and the channels.sports too are there all free to air but first you need a professional installer to assist you to do it.otherwise you may choose to go for pay TV remember no pain no gain. Good luck. |

Nbg4real: i got d charcoal but how effective d heat is? Will it not be weak b4 morning?Definitely the heat will reduce gradually as the charcoal burn off so its advisable to reload the coal pot once you know the heat is reducing. Note allow free ventilation of air within the brooding house and prevent uncompleted combustion in the coal pot as carbon monoxide could be poisonous to human as well as livestock. |

Nbg4real: pls don‘t ignore me i used kerozine stove & battery torch light for heating and lightining respectvely. So i‘m thinking of using electric bulb for both purpose is it feasable?Yes you may use electric bulb like 200 watts ,I don't really support it but most people subscribe to that.for the fact that the intensity of light radiating from the bulb could damage the eyes of the chicks,.you will burn more fuel to run your generator.I normally use charcoal but using this you have to be very careful otherwise you will burn all your farm.we need to develop our simple farm technologies that can cater for most of these farm operation with minimal attention using our indeginous technology. Its one of the challenge in raising day old chicks.from my second picture above the heat coming from biofuel burning is so high that we can make some little modification and that will cater for space heating in brooding .we should operate farming with ease.so for now you need electricity to light and heating if your chicks aren't much or for experimental purpose go ahead. Good luck. |

For those that are requesting for the total cost. Please bear in mind that the cost isnt an issue but delivering the services.I need to assess your farm in the questionnaire ,this will tell if your project is viable or not since we cant discuss most things on phone i prefer doing the preliminary on e-mails before the main construction. You may choose which you prefer but the questionnaire is part of the project. It will give us the picture of your farm. The size of the farm will determine the construction cost.A person with 200 birds cant rate himself with somebody with 10000 birds . The picture show one of our handy work.Proudly 9ja. 1 Like |

Hey ! stop and rethink before you throw away that Gold mine under your cages away. Most neighbors complaint about odors coming out from poultry facilities. They tag an average farmer " a dirty man".fortunately enough if the farmer give his neighbours eggs or live chickens they hardly complain about the chicken smelling bad. So where is the odour coming from ?Is it the chicken or the droppings? The answer is none.Chicken doesnt smell and neither is the droppings.Few things make the dropping smell when bacterias act on it in the present of moisture after few days under the cages odour will set in and your olfactory lobe set in.The odour will attract flies and releases bad smell into the immediate surroundings. This odour comes from Ammonia, hydrogen sulphide and some compounds. You may choose to pack the dropping daily, weekly or monthly the fact remains that it will still smell. You may choose to dig a big trench to bury the manure. This is good but to an environmentalist its a big pollution to the surroundings (Air,Soil and water)not this alone, you lose the power in the waste to the soil. waste management and odour control is a big challenge in poultry and other livestock businesses., Our waste to energy experts will help you to combat odour, reduces flies and generate green energy on farm to run you daily farm operations such as cooking/heating,Soil amendment via bio fertilizer and power production using your chicken waste. The pictures below is for your viewing pleasure. So this 2014 consider your farm odour free with our technology. picture1 generating cooking gas from poultry litters picture 2 electricity from poultry droppings picture 3. space heating for brooding chicks Jamp and others those pictures are for your viewing pleasure. Its just a little out of what that droppings under your cages can give you. 1 Like

Ukuts gp: Why cant Nigerians heed warning? What will it take u to buy a stove or gas cooker for ur wife, grandmother or sister as the case may be? Faling of trees for firewood lead to deforestation Gathering of firewood can be a tedious task Burning with firewood produces carbon monoxide when inhale can cause some health issues. The cooking pot will be dirty with soot The food always come with good aroma but we should be talking of self sustainance in the use of energy for cooking.if you have a biodigester in your backyard with the right daily organic waste in your kitchen you need not go further you will have more than enough gas for cooking and your pot will be dirty free and you save the forest .and you reduce your carbon footprint. That research is void and not up to date. |

Nbg4real: G/morning all i‘m happy to announce d recovery of my birds but stil d productivity is 10% i starts using lsyer feed today.Feeding grower mash up to 10% ! Next time change to layer mash when its 2%. I think you are the one delaying your production.its like you are forcing your layer to lay without given it the right feed.why you wait for the first set of eggs is to tell you that those layers are ready for eating layer mash.so next time don't wait till 10%.I use 2% . |

Poultry manure is a major set back in poultry business.we can't stop chicken from dropping their faeces.under cages or on litters. No doubt after some micro organisms acts on this dropping some obnoxious odour set in,even when packing daily or weekly the litters still keep polluting the environment.Neighbours keep complaining and at the end you lose your farm to your neighbour. No need to worry again,we can handle the waste for you. We need to make a feasibility report based on the answers you provide for us on our questionaire . What do you intend to do with the bio product of your facility?heating, cooking, power generation for lightning and electricity for water pumping on farm. WIth ours reactor facility in your farm we gaurantee you odour free farm if you can adhere to all our rules. For anybody or somebody who may be interested you may contact me via this mail. obnelly2009@gmail.com +23408028482859 We hope our approach to odour removal will also work for you. Cheers 1 Like |

Idango: @AkayTopsy, i think you are right, i went for a course at animal care in July and we were taken round all their pens( they did not allow us to take pictures), what was that after the foundation there was only one coach of blocks, the rest is wire. A coach of blocks or two should be fine except when you stay in an area where flooding is an aheadache. |

Disinfect your chicken,s water with isochlor once in a while to flush off any algae growth inside your tank and along water line. Do not over feed your birds ,over feeding will lead to obesity/too much fat and it may affect your bird circulatory system.your chicken may die of excess fat or cardiovascular disorder. Feed your chicken with equal and evenly distributed feed. Remove cob webs or dust trapped on wire mesh .this can reduce air flow along the pen. Make your farm sorroundings conducieve for any visitor but discourage visitors coming in contact to your chicken by setting in bio security perimeter. Have a lovely farming this week 2 Likes |

Yes my brother .I am in the final stage of the project.Though it involves some financial backings but once its constructed and functioning well.we have nothing to worry about.it will reduce farm air pollution ,production of fuel and pure organic fertilizer, ruduces leachate , water and soil contamination etc. 1 Like |

Dry season is here ,chickens will pant from time to time especially when the temperature is high.chicken will hate eating during that period.drinking is the means of reducing heat stress .pls give fresh clean water to your chicken, provide shade and allow free flow of air across the pen.heat stress will cause drop in weight, drop in eggs production, dehydration etc.pls try and reduce heat this period to reduce mortality.
