Can you imagine the audacity?

When my little brother (3 years younger than me) called me in tears, asking if he could move in with me and my new bride, I said yes. I had also had my share of family drama and thought he just needed a safe place to land until he could get himself together.

That ended up lasting about 10 years!! During that time, I fed and housed him, pretty much free of charge. I had initially told him I would cover him until he could get a job, and then I would charge him the whopping fee of $30 every 2 weeks, to cover the increase in utility and food bills, so that he could save up to get his own place. My initial plan was to just bank the money he gave me, and then when he looked as if he was ready to move out, give it to him to help set up house. He proceeded to NOT get a job, sleep in every day, and ate everything that wasn’t locked up. We literally had to get a big, lockable box to keep food in, so we could eat without him taking it all.

He gets a girlfriend. Great, maybe she can get him off his ass and make him get a job. No such luck. He asks me if he can move her in with him. Of course, I say no, since he’s already costing me money as it is. He then proceeds to move her in anyway, along with her young child. After 2 or 3 days of noticing they are in my house all the time, I figure it out. When I sit both of them down and ask about it, she starts screaming about how I take all his money for my beer. Huh Apparently he has told her that I am charging him $500 a month, and he’s broke after paying. Um…no. He’s spending all his money (by then he had a part-time job, but nowhere near enough to afford his own apt) on pot and fast food, and telling her these lies to cover it.

They end up splitting up, and he is still in my back bedroom. I find out he stole money from my then 2 yr old son’s piggy bank, and go ballistic. I charged into his room, jumped on him, and start flailing, screaming “you stole money from my kid?? After I supported your lazy ass all this time?” The wife comes up and breaks it up, and I tell him “You have 5 minutes to get the Bleep outta my house”. The wife then begs and pleads for me not to kick him out, he has no place to go, etc etc. I finally relent and let him stay.

I tried everything to get him in position to be on his own. I offered to teach him HTML and some other stuff to make him employable, back when anyone who had a pulse and knew rudimentary HTML could get a $50k a year position. He couldn’t be bothered. I got him several jobs, none of which he kept. I gave up on getting any kind of money from him. Every time I got fed up and wanted to kick him out, she intervened (she was way too much of a soft touch).

Finally, he meets another woman and they end up married. Great, now he finally moves out. She puts up with his BS for about 6 months before filing for divorce. He knows better than to try to come back here, so he ends up moving back home with Mom, where he promptly steals over $10,000 in cash (Mom owned rental properties, and tenants often paid in cash, so she generally had a bunch of cash in the house). When questioned about it, he admits to stealing it, and can’t even remember what he spent it on. I begged her to press charges, thinking maybe a few months in jail might shock him into getting his act together, but she can’t bring herself to do it.

He bails on her and ends up back in my city, living with his former brother-in-law. I only found out he was there because he called our mother in tears, asking for her to wire him money because he’s broke and hungry. I tell her not to do that, and get the address where he is living. I told her I would buy him groceries and bring them, but do NOT send him money. I bought about $200 worth of groceries, enough to feed himself for a month, and delivered them, telling him this is a one-time thing, and to get his shit together and get a job. I told him if he proved he got a job, I would loan him the money for a monthly transit pass to get back and forth until he got paid.

He then proceeds to not get a job, as usual. By now, we are all done with him. He has taken advantage of me for years, he stole all that money from Mom, he moved in with our other brother and his wife and took advantage of them, too, and now, we’re done. Sink or swim time.

Enter the soft-touch wife. She thinks I should give him another chance. Apparently he called her and got her to believe his latest sob story. Stupidly, I agree. So he’s back again.

2 weeks after that, he asks her to drive him somewhere about a job. Of course, she agrees. When they get back I can see she’s upset, but she blows it off and I let it go.

Finally, about a week later, I find out that when they were in the car, he made several passes at her. That was the final straw. I tell her to stay the hell out of this, and throw his ass out. I had to get a rifle from the closet and lean it against the wall in his bedroom and watch him pack his shit. He couldn’t seem to understand why I was even upset. I told him, in no uncertain terms, that she was the only reason he got a free ride all those years, and there was no way I was going to let him disrespect her and me that way.

There are certain lines you don’t cross, and hitting on your brother’s wife is way across that line. He left, and I haven’t seen him since. About a year ago, she convinced me to reach out to him and let bygones be bygones. I tried, and find out that apparently it was all my fault he couldn’t get his act together, since I was always pressuring him to get a job and grow up. Whatever. I washed my hands of it at that point and haven’t communicated with him since.

President Muhammadu on Thursday warned criminals harassing Nigerians to desist from pushing their luck too far, telling them not to think that the Federal Government lacks the capacity to crush them.

The Nigerian leader issued the warning in the wake of attacks in Zamfara State which led to the death of about 80 persons and the destruction of properties.

Buhari described the attacks as “insane,” and warned that “these criminals should stop pushing their luck too far by believing that the government lacks the capacity to crush them.”

In a statement by his media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari condemned the incidents, and restated that “such wanton disregard for life will be brought to an end sooner than later.”

“The violence against poor villagers who are struggling with poverty and other severe economic challenges is not going to be tolerated by this administration,” he added

He directed Nigeria’s security agencies to immediately close all gaps in their operations that are being exploited by criminals to wreak havoc, asking them to “redouble their efforts in bringing an end to this mindless violence against innocent people.

“Let’s not give these criminals any opportunity to succeed by taking the war to their own camps and stop them in their tracks before they even have the time to respond under our massive firepower.

Despite the attacks, the 78-year-old reassured Zamfara people that “there will be no compromise in our determination to defeat these enemies of humanity.”

RENEWED ASSAULTS
Bandits had in the last five days attacked about ten communities in the northwestern state, killing 80 people.

About 50 people died when over six communities in the Magami Ward of Gusau Local Government Area and Maru Local Government Area were invaded.

Most of the victims of the attack are members of the local vigilante group known as Yansakai keeping watch on their communities.


Nigeria’s northwest has continued to battle banditry in recent years.


A similar incident happened on Tuesday as no fewer than 30 people were killed in four villages.

Villages attacked by bandits were Gobirawa, Rini, Gora, and Madoti Dankule in Bakura and Maradun LGAs in the state located in the north-western region of the country.

“More security personnel are needed in this area if farming is to be successful this season,” said Aminu Suleiman who is the Sole Administrator of Bakura LGA.

Chad President, Idriss Deby is dead.

Deby rmdied on Tuesday from injuries he sustained at the war front against some rebels.

He had led a brigade against rebels in the North of the country.

His death is coming after he won his re-election for a 6th term.

Army spokesman, General Azem Bermandoa Agouna confirmed his death on Tuesday.

A statement he read on state television said Deby “has just breathed his last defending the sovereign nation on the battlefield”.

Deby, 68, won a sixth term in provisional election results released on Monday.

The late President postponed his victory speech and went to visit Chadian soldiers in the war front.

A Nigerian man identified as Desmond Ehimuah, has been accused of beating his 8 months pregnant wife, Tito Oluwatoyin Ehimuah, to coma and leaving her for dead at their residence in Magodo Phase 2, Lagos State.

According to a report, his wife had ran away from home over the constant beatings she receives from her husband.

She reportedly returned home so they could settle the matter amicable only for her husband to descend on her and battered her until she passed out.

The French parliament on Thursday adopted legislation that characterises sex with a child under the age of 15 as rape and punishable by up to 20 years in jail, bringing its penal code closer in line with many other Western nations.

Sex between an adult and a child younger than 15 was already illegal but could only be prosecuted as rape if there was proof the minor was coerced through violence, constraint or surprise. Without proof of coercion, it was prosecuted as the lesser offence of a 'sexual act on a minor'

"This is an historic law for our children and our society," Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti told the National Assembly.

"No adult aggressor will be able to claim the consent of a minor younger than 15-years-old."

The vote in favour of the bill was unanimous at its final reading, the Assembly said on Twitter.

There had been concerns from some lawmakers that an age of consent below which sex automatically constituted rape might criminalise a consensual sexual relationship between a minor and a person only a few years older.

As a consequence, a "Romeo and Juliet" clause that allows for sexual relations between a minor and an individual up to five years older. The clause will not apply in cases of sexual assault.

The legislation also considers incestuous sex with a minor under 18 to be rape.

In a country that has long cherished its self-image as the land of seduction and romance, sexual abuse against women and children for years went undetected or undeclared in the upper echelons of power and within celebrity circles.

But there has been much soul-searching in recent years.

The #MeToo movement that swept around the world after numerous women in 2017 accused U.S. movie producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault proved a turning point in France. So too did the fall from grace in 2020 of a French writer who had written openly about his pedophilia.

France had already toughened its sex crimes laws in 2018 when it outlawed sexual harassment on the streets, leaving cat-callers and aggressively lecherous individuals facing potential on-the-spot fines.

I don't think there is any reasonable answer. Looking at his records he just bought useless stuff with it. Just short term stuff you can use only once

We tried that but the boy was strongly claiming that he didn't play the game at all yesterday even though all available evidence showed he did. He was even crying on it and lying on my brothers which was very annoying. It couldn't even be my brothers because they would be in school at that time

A lot of people who saw that thread thought I was just greedy but in reality I just couldn't believe that she would buy it for him. I knew her too well

So just yesterday, I came back home and my mother called me. She said that her sister (my aunt) had called her on phone and told her that they had debited #3500 from her bank account three times from that same game

She claimed that she had asked her son about it and he denied it, so she was thinking maybe it was me or one of my brothers

Now this isn't possible because I haven't been at her house since I created that thread and I don't know her card details or anything. My siblings couldn't do it because they were busy writing exams

My mind was just telling me it was her son. But I needed proof to confirm it. So later yesterday night, I asked her to ask her son for the password to her son's account in the game. At first the boy didn't want to tell me, saying he forgot, but later he told me

I logged into the account and went to the transactions. Immediately, I saw the truth

Just yesterday morning, the boy had bought $10 worth of Robux (the game currency) three times, making it $30. The game uses an exchange rate of $1 to #350 (which is surprising) making it #10,500 in one day

When I found all of this out, I took a screenshot of all the transactions and sent it to my aunt. I then called her and told her everything. She confirmed that it was the same time on the game records that she saw the debit alerts

The funniest part of all of it was the boy was still denying it, saying he wasn't the one, even though the records show the exact time and amount he bought and spent and which game he spent it on. Even his sister noticed the suspicious activity

I looked further in the records and I saw the boy had bought over #30,000 worth of the game currency, and his mother could only account for spending #1,500. She noticed this one because she didn't have any money in her account at all till yesterday morning

And the boy is only 11. So the question is, if he was your child, what would you do to him?

Just yesterday, I bought data 1.5GB on Airtel hoping to use it for the whole week

I woke up this morning to find out I have only 100MB remaining. This frustrated me heavily because I bought that data #500 and I even had to repay my previous debt of #200

I made my investigations and found out Google Play Store auto-updated all my apps for almost 1.4GB!

Now I'm just frustrated and don't know what to do
