Well said brother.
And surprisingly, it seems we are not ready to fix these issues up. Like you mentioned, the proverbs and riddles era is fast leaving us and yet we are not trying to join the rest of the world in keeping written records or other forms of documentation.
I just hope we wake up soon. Even if it not exactly the same format used by our counterparts from around the world, at least we should have our own way of keeping our records for future references.

djon78:

Yeah you are very right about not having a writing form of language in the ancient times.

I believe these was the major bane of Africa and it's affected us till this day

The Asians example had written language
These ability to write gave rise to them having deep philosophers

That's same pattern the Bible and Quran had
These two great books has produced some of the greatest philosophy thinking since the existence of Man

Take the Bible for example
It has influenced humanity thousands of years before

Like I mentioned Alexander the great, his grearest tutor was Aristotle
It was documented that Aristotle was so much influenced by the old testament of the Bible later in his days
He transferred that knowledge to his student Alexander the great and that's why Alexander never touched Jerusalem during his global conquest

It was said Aristotle in his later days converted to Judaism before he died.

So having a writing form of language would have perpetuated our philosophical thinking process

We still have philosophical thinking process in our clime especially in form of speaking with Proverbs

I am from the East and I know that when the elders commune
They do so mostly in Proverbs

Although we are losing it because the younger generation don't care about all these things

I remember while growing up if a grown up man is spoken to in riddles and Proverbs
If he doesn't understand it
He is jested that the dowry paid to marry his mother was in vain

I also hear deep Yoruba thinkers also always talked in riddles and Proverbs

Almost all African culture have deep riddles and Proverbs which showed that our forefathers were deep thinkers and philosophers

Thanks

Your question wasn't simple as you may think or as you think.
As an African, you can agree with me that our stories are mostly told rather than being written and so when you ask if there is any written record(s)documents) concerning Africa, then it seems somehow to me. Africans generally pass down informations through words and we both know that over time some of these informations will be forgotten due to newer events or stories being told.

Take for instance, as an African; do you write down every activities of yours on a daily or maybe part of your core daily activities in any book, so that you can refer to in the future or better still, do you snap pictures or make video recordings everyday for record purpose?
To me, because they're no written documents concerning Africa that we can hold on to like our European counterparts doesn't mean Africa/Africans were doing nothing. If maybe there is nothing like written records, I bet you won't be asking this question.

djon78:

I asked a very simple question

What were Africans doing then?

Is there any written documents anywhere concerning Africa

Even the Chinese, Indians, Koreans have documented written of there history 2000years ago

The only documented African country is Ethiopia.
It was known as cush in the Bible

Simon of Cyrene that helped Christ to carry his Cross on the way to crucifiction was a black man

And in the book of Acts in the Bible the Ethiopian Eunuch was mentioned

This is an intellectual discuss
Not fighting

Chelsea's rather hellish run begins on October 21st when they host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, followed a week later when they take on Brentford.

On November 4th, Chelsea travel to North London to take on Tottenham Hotspur, before hosting champions Manchester City the following week.

After the November international break, Pochettino's side have a trip to St James' Park to take on Newcastle United, before hosting Brighton & Hove Albion the following weekend.

And after taking on the Seagulls, Chelsea face a midweek trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, just a few days before they stay in the North West with a trip to Goodison Park with a clash against Everton.

Could this be relegation loading?

Go to the dessert and get a pay day but when you go to America, it for the love of Soccer.

Have you come across the Ighalo interview of him talking about those claiming they are going to the desert for the passion they have for Football?

a GOAT has nothing to do with the Desert, Camel, Camel rule the Desert.

The only GOAT is in America redefining, reshaping, redesigning the whole of American Soccer.

First, calm down and check, and recheck before posting because so many typos in this your story.

Secondly, you two lodged. What was the occasion for the lodging?

She is dating but she still gives you her attention, support, care, etc. Bro, if that girl dey into you as you claim, you for no hear of the other man.

Comot mind from dating her then simply return the energy wey she dey give then try to enjoy every moment with her cause you don't know when gon be the last. Or just maybe, to be sure of things with how she feels for you, try and come up with "I just got to know this new girl in my neighbourhood" lie and see how she will react to you having another girl who will soon be ending your feelings towards her.

Poverty and Lighting in the skies.

Lighting freak shit out of me.
Grand ma once told when someone have dispute with another person, my great grand dad was a man who any of the person can meet to send thunder after the other which according to the story, my great grand dad performed his paid job perfectly and since the day the story was told to my hearing and till tomorrow, I have never found lighting in the skies to be funny, kinda of keep having that feeling of "the evil men do lives after them". As in, each time I hear or see lighting, I got that weird feeling that an aggrieved family member of those affected in the past by my great grand pa's deeds is now trying to return the favour to my great grand dad's offsprings.

Most phoné phoné Nigerians just end up sounding stupid. The Indian people you mentioned can polish themselves up but not to the extent of mimicking British English.

If I’ve gotten the lady correctly these people basically want her to prime their kids so that they will be able to assimilate well once they travel abroad for studies.

From that angle I kinda get it but I severely doubt that it’s possible to imbibe an authentic British accent from some sporadic lessons in Nigeria.

This is how we lost the Benin Bronzes and countless other precious artefacts to the likes of these people. By being neither here nor there and blowing with the wind.

In the course of trying to be like English people, we are greatly harming our ways of doing things.
Are you aware that same Britain that colonized or should I say came to steal from Nigeria/Nigerians and as well force down their language on those then and the generation yet unborn (including you and I) are the same Britain that colonize India but listen to an Indian person speaking and you won't bother asking where he or she is from because they don't take English as a superior language to theirs.

sunsweet33:

This reminds me of my classmate. His father used to scold him for speaking Efik, warning him that it would affect his accent while speaking English.
And now he can’t remember how to speak it

But if it’s about good diction in English he sha has it cheesy
Education / Re: Guys, Did I Overcharge This Woman For This? by OgaRico(m): 3:01pm On Jul 31, 2023
That is where the problem is bro.
Why don't we use our mother tongue(s) in our place of work or is it a crime/sin to use it?
Learn all the accent and English on earth, still you are no English and never will.
Even if I japa, by hearing me speak, the people or person should know that I learnt their language because they will still hear my mother tongue through how I'm speaking.
For instance, look at you and I discussing in their language and not in any of ours.

Jewessgratitud3:

Do you use your mother tongue at your place of work? Tomorrow you want to japa and study in the UK, Shey na your mother tongue you go use when you get there? Please I don't like arguing this with anyone.
