Rugan Fulani. Using Jigawa State as a Case Study.

By OMA | 30-06-2019 | Food |

Farmers and Herdsmen can co-exist in peace.

Rugan Fulani.

Nature of my work takes me from state to state within the confines of the Country in the River Niger Area called Nigeria.

Talking strictly from experience from my state to state visit, I was fascinated by my discovery is Jigawa State.

I worked in Auyo Local Government of Jigawa State very close to Hadejia Local Government.

Auyo has a 52 kilometer Dam built as far back as the Shehu Shagari Regime.

This Dam is for no other thing but for availability of water for all year round farming.

Dangote happens to be building a Rice mill along the Auyo road.

I made mention of that so you know how much of massive Rice farming goes on in Auyo LGA in Jigawa State.

Let me categorically state that I have never in my life seen large farms as I saw in Jigawa State.

Jigawa produces Local Rice, Maize. Millet, Wheat etc and also has about the largest population of cattles I ever saw all my life.

What is my point and where am I driving at?

Cultivating this large Hectares of land isnt just done manually but by some locally mechanised mechanisms.

Big hefty cattles and Bulls are used to till the soil in massive expansive lands.

The cows in question works on farmlands without eating a grain of farm produce.

Becos their mouths are sealed off.
Because they have standing laws and orders within the community protecting both farmers and herdsmen.
When I dug further for more enquries, I was told that there are laid down punishments for any cow caught eating a single crop belonging to any farmer.

They have local policemen that arrests any cow that eats from anybody's farm till the cow owner comes to pay for whatever the cow had eaten.

Cow get sense for jigawa ooo. Seriously.

The Truth is, I was marveled by my discovery in Jigawa.

No trespass.

I can categorically say there is no state in Nigeria that has Cattle population as much as Jigawa and also there are no farming communities as large as those I saw in Jigawa State.

How come then Farmers and Herdsmen Clashes are never reported from Jigawa?

Probably because they Understand themselves in terms of Language and Religion.
2 and most importantly would be legislation.

The existing laws In these local government in Jigawa would Amuse you.

Cows dont Miss behave in Jigawa.

Jigawa Cows dont go about eating farmers produce and this I experienced first hand.

Coming to the "Ruga" issue. There are so many Ruga Fulani in Jigawa State already and it is a model that works, at least with commitment and understanding from both farmers and herdsmen we can have a violent free Nigeria where Herdsmen and Farmers live together in Peace.

Jigawa State is a good case study of what Herdsmen and Farmers harmonious relationships should look like.

Lets give peace a chance as there is no price too high to pay for peace even if it means establishing Ruga

If Ruga would bring lasting peace between Herdsmen and Farmers then let it be and lets stop dragging and politicising what shouldnt be politicised.

Life is so sacred and so sacrosanct and nobody should lose their life as a result of clashes between herdsmen and Farmers.

Lets value life. Lets give peace a chance.

OMA writing for www.omascope.com

Op obviously you are educated but naive.

Ruga is not about having peace between herders and farmers. Ruga is land grab from Nigerians to foreign fulanis.
The earlier you know this the better for you.

Presently there are 5 million fulanis in Nigeria, 2 million of them are indigenous, and have scattered themselves in the critical sector of the economy and the military, the other 3 million are foreign fulanis who have been brought in by the indigenous fulanis to look after their cattle.

Ruga, when fully established will accommodate 60 million fulanis from the whole of west Africa.

Do you really want all west African Fulani to troop into Nigeria?

Romance / Re: I Need To Know Her Real Intentions Pls Advice by ogb5(m): 6:03pm On Jun 30, 2019
jahchild34:
There's this girl I dated back in school 11 years ago, she had an argument and broke up then but sometimes we still get to see each other once in a while when she's around because she lives in Kaduna, so after I graduated in 2012 because I went to a polytechnic we never get so see each other much longer but sometimes we don chat and speak on the phone, so after my service I travelled out of the country and God so kind I was doing a bit OK, I really loved her and wanted to marry her if things worked out..

So last two years I came back December and called her she said she's in lagos and I was also in Lagos, she gave me excuses that she can't come because of one thing or the other, so I tried twice she didn't come to meet me so I left for my state in a week time, I called her when I got home and we spoke on the phone and I told her I want to have a baby, my intentions was to get her pregnant and do the normal rites by seeing her family but she insulted me and called me all manner of names.

To cut the story short I dated another girl and got her pregnant and now I have a baby boy of which she's aware of, my son is almost 8 months old.

Until recently she started showing much interest in me and pleading with me she wants to visit me and spend a month or two, I am curious because this is strange and I feel she has some ulterior motives on her visit, I need to know if something is fishy or maybe someone might have had this same experience.

Be aware my baby and his mom are in Nigeria but we are not yet married because we agreed we wanted a baby together and no strings attached, we didn't agree to get married we just agreed to have a baby together.

Please your contributions are needed

This your case is interesting.

You wanted her to have a baby for you. She insulted you when you told her of your plan. That was good on her part. Which normal girl wants to be a baby mama first before being a wife.

Next you got a willing baby mama and now have a 8 months old child. Marriage to this baba mama is not yet on the table.

Now your ex that rejected being your baby mama 2 years ago has suddenly seen the light and wants to fall in line.

Well what I can say is that she is coming for her own selfish interest. Either she has seen that men are scarce around her and prefers to go back to her vomit or she has some needs she is unable to meet and believe she can get you to help or she just need to retrace her routes and settle down and she chose you.

Whatever the reason, she is not coming for your interest.

But since you like baba mama syndrome, you can do trade by barter with her, you help her with her needs and she be your second baby mama. Sounds fair enough.

Before you guys commence the trade by barter, ensure both of you go for HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and syphilis screening. I don't want you to open another thread of how you guys were sharing stds

Politics / Re: MALABU OIL: Ednan Agaev Reverses Self, Clears Jonathan Of Bribery Claim by ogb5(m): 2:14pm On Jun 27, 2019
Jonathan government negotiated a deal for the OML to be transferred peacefully from Malabu oil to shell and stop the multiple legal battles stopping the development of the OML area.

What exactly is bad in putting the nation interest first as was done in this negotiation?

Shell didn't want to pay money directly to malabu oil for the transfer since legally shell did not acquire the OML from Malabu, they acquired the OML from the FG during OBJ tenure.

Jonathan government agreed to collect money from shell and pay to Malabu while Malabu relinquish their claim to the OML and stop their litigation about the OML.

What exactly is wrong in what the FG did during Jonathan's tenure to ensure stoppage of the litigations and commencement of development on the OML that is claimed to hold 25% of our oil reserve?

Some political actors just used Jonathan's peaceful disposition to accuse him wrongly and got away with it

I have been feeling sick ever since i had sex with my girlfriend, so i went for a test today only to find out she's infected me with HIV. This is someone i trusted with everything. I've learned my lesson the hard way. My life is ruined right now, I've cried my eyes out and suicide is the only thing coming to my mind now. I'm still alive because of the thought of my mother, butt I'm not sure i can hold on.

Please be careful with who you say you love.

This is pathetic. But be strong. HIV is no longer a death sentence but it can limit you in many ways. You can not reside in many countries because of it and getting a good employment with it can be difficult because of the discrimination.

One of my female friend has been living with it for over 10 years now and you wouldn't know she has it by looking at her.

Just take your medication regularly and you will be fine. And start taking the medication right away.

When people pay fees to go to school, they know the certificate they will be issued at the end of the schooling.

They can see current and previous students of the school to interact with and judge from.
In your training, there is no way of knowing that you can actually deliver on the training objectives that you are promising. There is no way of meeting your previous students to get a feedback from them on the quality of training that they received from you.

With all these uncertainties, why should I spend money to register for your training

Family / Re: My Wife's Sister Is About To Crash My Marriage, Please Help by ogb5(m): 8:27pm On Jun 15, 2019
lawman88:
I really need help and strategies to handle this matter. My wife sister came three weeks ago to live with us. She is 22 yrs. My problems now is her dressing mode which my wife is not careful about.
This lady always wear see-through singlets and night gowns. She has big breasts and always displaying them. I don't know how I will tell my wife to talk her sister to cover herself. She may feel bad that I'm attracted to her sister.
During the sallah holiday, I was with her alone because my wife don't holiday in her place of work, I have to leave the house and stay in the accommodation given to me in my place of work.
This morning, I carried my undies to wash, she crossed me and told me to give it to her to wash, the towel she tied because she was going to bathroom before was removing and showing her full breasts and she never worry about that.
Our marriage is just one year and I never cheated on my wife and she trusted me but her sister is really giving me emotional trauma. Can you imagine, yester night, my wife went to a programme, I was with her. So I called her around 8 pm that we should pray and go to bed. This lady came with a see-through night gown with a push up bra that put all breasts outside. Even her pant color was visible. I tried to control myself....
Even this morning, she came for prayer with the same gown and my wife did not caution her.....
How can I handle this matter?

You seem to be forgetting your position in the house.
Your wife and are sister are under you and you need to set the rules in the house.

Tell the young lady to cover up when she is in your presence.
Tell your wife to coach her sister how to dress in your presence.

Well infection with HBV is not a reason for repatriation or deportation. Guess they did it because he might have lied in his medicals done in naija.

Don't post information online that you are not sure of, you might end up misinforming people.

The Gulf countries test residents for HIV, Hepatitis and yellow fever before issuing you with resident permit.
If you fail the test then you are required to leave the country immediately.

Resident permit are renewed every 2 years or every 3 years depending on your visa type and you have to repeat the tests before the resident permit renewal.

If you fail the test you leave the country immediately. If you do the test in a government hospital and fail, you are arrested at the hospital and deported.

He was promptly repatriated to Nigeria from the middle east and blacklisted from entering the country.

Just wasted the money used in sending him abroad and the time used in training him for the job.

We are still hoping to get 1600 respondents for my friend's PhD survey questionaire. Pls, you can be of help.

Pls guys, a friend of mine is doing her PhD in the university of Florida.

She needs our help. She has her survey questionnaire crafted online. She is understudying birth control in Nigeria. That is a very interesting topic. She needs 1600 respondents for this research. You can participate. Survey takes less than 20 minutes.

Pls, to help her with your views about birth control, kindly check my profile and see the link on my signature. Just click the link and the survey page will open. It is done online and easy. Thank u so much. Don't forget to share with your friends too.

I did your friend's survey.

I was not really impressed by the survey questions.

First the reference to government in the survey was structured to look as if the government being referred to is the US government and not the Nigerian government.

The survey talked a lot about whites versus blacks that does not apply to Nigerians in Nigeria. There is no black versus white dichotomy in Nigeria when it comes to healthcare and healthcare beliefs.
Anyway I just filled the survey to the best of my ability but the result she will get will be a mixture of Nigerian experience in Nigeria and that of immigrant experience in the US.

In wonder how she can use such mixed result
