somegirl1: We can stand if the power returns back to the regions or if we practice federalism. Not what wee have now. The saner countries that called off their unions did not resort to hate speeches and lies to achieve their aim. They had civilised and intelligent pple as drivers. the knew what they wanted and the followed thru. |

macluvph1: Your writeup is usually long Thats why I try to capture as much as I can. As for the jobs you talked about, is it not same thing that you are complaining about that will be experienced. If u ask an Ikwere man if he is igbo he will tell you no. Will the ijaw man not cry that the igbo man has filled all the positions just as you are now crying. If you have ever worked in a multinational coy you will prefer to work with the Hausa man or to some extent Yoruba man than an igbo man. These guys will help their brothers but they still consider others. But the igbo man does not care if you exist if you are not igbo. You can ask non igbos in Halliburton, shell (especially logistics dept) and others. Do not expect an Eldorado with the igbo man at the helms. Exactly same thing they complain of is what is metted to others. I know of many igbos who got federal employment thru ayim when he was sgf. Your bubbles will burst of u ever think u will fly in the skies of a new country. |

macluvph1: There u go again still playing the victim card. El zazaki, pardon my print, the leader of the Shiite group was not only shot he is still in detention. He has not be taking to court till date. I kno that the igbos have suffered a great deal due to lack of protection from our leaders but will the hate and bile preached by kanu stop, reduce or aggravate the situation. If biafra is created today will all the igbos come back to the new country to start all over again? Why fight a war you genuinely have no clue on how to win. Lemme ask you, what is the post victory strategy should biafra win this struggle. The picture is bigger than most of us can see. Its easier to say call the marriage off, break the qoddam agreement. The most patriotic Nigerians are those who make us proud within and without. You can not say you are patriotic when you peddle drugs and do 419 activities. How patriotic are you when you sell fake drugs to your fellow Nigerians. It is not enough to shout patriotism and do otherwise in deeds. The other day I supposedly bought four brand new tyres that turned out to be old reworked stuffs from my igbo brothers in Lagos. Will that make me discard all my igbo friends including my biz partner? Most of you calling for the head of Nigeria are only doing so because Jonathan lost and not because we hate ourselves. This is reason enough for the non realisation of the state of biafra by the ill equipped disciples of biafran agitation. |

T9ksy: The last time I checked all the igbo senators are solidly behind a Yoruba (saraki) senator. Same goes for the house of reps where all the igbo rep members threw their weights behind a certain yakubu dogara. My dear, is it not clear to you now that this whole hatred thing is a carefully crafted bait by the political class to continually keep the pple where they want them? The political philosophy of the igbo man is not different from other regions. I am yet to see any significant difference realy, other than the usual fairy tale our fathers used to tell us, which some of us have taking too far. Whoever said the igbo man will not peddle drugs like his Yoruba or Hausa brother because he now answers biafra. Honestly, the arguments put forward for biafra is lame. At least pro biafra activists should be able to put forward measurable indicators as reasons for their wanting out. Not this we hate ourselves, we can't stay as one, they are killing us, in biafra nobody can steal our money. C'mon guys, we can do better.. |

irunooboo: The question I keep asking is what efforts have they putin to make sure Nigeria work befor threatening to opt out? It's like a man divorcing a woman because she has sagged breast after 10 deliveries. If you go marry a new wife she will still sag in a matter of time after many deliveries too. The right thing to do is appreciate what you have and make it look good and attractive. 1 Like |

macluvph1: My brother I replied you oo. Or maybe I thought I did. Check your mention and you ill see that u have not replied my last msg. I have been waiting for days. I like the way you pick your points in a discuss. Lemme start by saying that no country the world over is isolatedt from interests within and without. biafra inclusive if and when it eventually comes. What you have said still revolves around oppression and playing the victim card. I asked you a question befor and I ask again, will you opt out of a marriage for the mere fact that you perceive oppression or you try to make it work in the first place. If the later is you answer. I ask again 'what have you done to make it work'? |

It is important for us to understand the reason why we agitatt in the first place. Too many uninformed here. Many nairalanders see the coming of biafra as the end to all their problems. I am sorry to tell you this, if and when it eventually comes, it will be the begining of your problems. What you experience in Nigeria will be a child's play. That is when the real cry of witch hunt and political depravity will will echo loudest. Is it not this same kanu that is telling you that winners chapel, deeper life, redeem and others are Yoruba churches that will preside over the New state. Or maybe he will be a king maker. What about cases of anambra man not qualified to work in Abia civil service even when he was born in Abia state. Should I even mention the issue of Anglican Catholic quota. You wont know what you enjoy till the day you find yourself in a small box fighting to survive. Igbos in Nigeria will be giving the treatment kanu himself asked to be giving others. This whole biafra thing will have far reaching effects especially on the igbos. The biafra agitation as it is today has taking a dangerous dimention. Kanu's hate speeches towards other tribes, pples religion, orientation, heritage and igbo leaders who do not share or support his aggressive approach will only work against the biafran nation. I laugh when I hear pple say ' face your state and leave biafra alone'. It is funny when Every dissenting voice is tagged Yoruba or Hausa. Truth is, apart from geographical location nothing else discribrs the igbos as a pple. Not marriage, not religion/denomination, not language, not even VOICE. I say this because thru marriage the igbos have fused with others, Yoruba and Hausa inclusive. The igbo nation today can not point at a particular religion as the only religion of the land. most of the churches (Yoruba church) in the east have their hqtrs in the west. These churches have mlions of igbos attending them, and these pple will rather follow their pastors than follow kanu. Do not forget igbo ha v Muslims too. Playing the victim all the time is not just laughable but obsolete. The south south asked for resource control during obj's tenure and got 13% derivation (still wondering what they have achieved with it though). You do not win by playing the oppressed when indeed you can win. Jonathan whom the igbos have suddenly found a hero in, warned delegates during the ill fated conference not to discuss secession. Isn't all of these enough indications to work towards building a better Nigeria? 1 Like 1 Share |

zendy: Abeg make una leave this minority thing. Fight your biafra battle alone. No minority tribe will follow u pple. Did you pple confer with the minority bfor you went to war in the late 60s? Did you see them as a pple u should talk to one a pple to be subdued. History is a biatch. You can preach all you want, the minorities are better protected in Nigeria. How will the minority strive in a situation were even the igbos have no unity of purpose. |

macluvph1: You missed the point. Most of the govs and legislators were imposed thru fraudulent primaries by powerful local lords and not huasa fulani or Abuja politicians. Ikpeazu is a making of ochendo, obiano is a making of GEJ and obi, ifeanyi of ebonyi was ayims candidate even Sullivan chime is not spared in the power play. If you think biafra will be free of the Nigerian political philosophy? In your words "old wine in New bottle'. |

irunooboo: Unfortunately, they have succeeded in painting the entire igbo land as pro ipob. Majority of the igbos do not support his approach and he knows. I do not see kanu making further progress on this issue. He has been caged and that has put paid to his archaic strategy. The question is 'where was ipob when we had Jonathan as president, ayim pius ayim as sgf, David mark and ekweremadu as Senate president and deputy respectively. There was also ihedioha as deputy speaker and ihejirika / minima as COAS .Where were they? What better time to ask for biafra than the period in question. I pity those foolish ones who will be crushed by the military should they decide to protest. |

TippyTop: The question is What did the federal govt do with its share of the money. If states ask for their share, the federal govt still had the lion share. what did the court say about the money? Did the court order the federal govt not to save their share of the money? These are the questions. |

Politics / Re: PURPORTED NLC STRIKE: Why We Should All Oppose It. by ogmaskman: 9:06am On Apr 07, 2016 |
I support the op to the extent that we do not need the NLC to start a movement. We all saw how they faired over the years. The govt call the leaders, line their pockets and the strike is over. We all saw how Labour leaders went to aso rock with cap in hand to beg for honey instead of representing their constituencies during the last fuel hike. We do not need an NLC coordinated strike at this point. when the time is right a big protest will naturally occur. A protest that will capture the feeling and suffering of the common man. One that is driven by hunger and lack. One that will change the face of Nigeria for the better. Rightly or wrongly, some folks will support the strike hoping to have a breather, but I tell you it will turn out to be perfum over Shi.it. Modified: Except someone is saying here that this strike is to score political point as was the case many times in the past. The problems plaguing this country cut across tribe, religion, political bias and region. 1 Like |

All this aboki sef. But Ben Bruce should up his game too. He should be more involved in the red chamber than in in closet (computer) He doesn't need to be a senator to play this role, He should have allowed a more serious person represent his senatorial zone. It is incomprehensible that a senoator will take to tv, radio and tweeter at every turn when in reality, he can make a dffnce as a senator. 5 Likes 1 Share |

macluvph1: Honestly I enjoyed reading your post. But things are not as easy as they sound. For a biafra to materialize, there must first be unity of purpose. I say again, your reason for rejecting Nigeria is still based on marginalization and resource control. To the extent that we have control (politically and otherwise) what have we done to improve the lot of our people. What makes you think that the man (our politicians) will change overnight because he now answers biafran. or will they be giving the Rowlings treatment? Lemme give you a few examples to buttress my point. In the east today if a Catholic becomes the gov it is expected that the deputy should be of the Anglican stock. Sometime ago an anambra lady married to Abia man was made chief judge of Abia state. The pple of Abia rejected her for the silly reason she was not born abian. No recourse to qualification, entitlement, professionalism and humanity. In rivers here, it is a case of another ikwere again. Another upland man again. I tell you all of this will still be active sign posts in the biafra you intend to build. As you must be aware by now, am not against a biafran republic but simply saying it's no use jumping from fry pan to fire. Why not fix the fry pan bfor you put it on fire to at least reduce associated damage. It will suprise you to know that there are Christians in the north just as we have Muslims in the east. If a marriage does not work do you just bail out, or you put in effort to mend fences. As a pple, have the biafrans done enough? Have their representatives seen it fit to work towards a better tomoro? At a point the entire east was tied to the building of the second Niger bridge as if that will soak all the problems plaguing the east. I feel very strongly that we are placing the cart befor the horse. |
