Politics / Agbaje Remains PDP Governorship Candidate In Lagos — Campaign Organization by OkikiOlajide: 4:23pm On Mar 06, 2019
The campaign organisation of the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mr Jimi Agbaje has stated that there is no truth in the alleged endorsement of Babatunde Gbadamosi of the ADP by the CUPP for the Governorship Election of Lagos State.

The organisation revealed that the ADP Candidate had made several overtures to the PDP and Mr Agbaje seeking to be adopted as consensus candidate instead of Jimi Agbaje.

In a statement signed by Mr. Benson Babajide for Jimi Agbaje Support Group, the organisation said that “having failed in his desperate bid, he began to spew falsehood on different platforms.

“The voting public is hereby notified that the purported news is false, untrue, misleading, mischievous and a figment of the imagination of those sponsoring it.”

Babajide added in the statement, which was made available to journalists on Wednesday, that whilst Gbadamosi and his team were seeking partnerships in a bid to take advantage of the presence of the PDP network in Lagos and make use of our party agents, the PDP candidate forged ahead with his campaign across the length and breadth of the state selling his vision of FREEDOM.

President of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) Worldwide (the OPC faction of late Dr. Fedrick Faseun), Prince Osibote Oodua, has assured all Igbos living in the South West of safety before, during and after the forthcoming general elections slated for Saturday, 9th March.
This was in reaction to insinuations in some quarters that South Easterners would be attacked in South West over political differences.
Prince Osibote, who met with Igbo stakeholders at Century Hotel, on Ago Palace Way, Okota, Isolo, Lagos on Tuesday urged them to disregard any threat to their safety and security in the South West.
Oodua told the Igbo leaders that there was no way the Yoruba could attack them due to the relationship that exists between the two ethnic groups.

Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state has said provision of adequate maternal health care and key empowerment programs for the women in the state remain significant in the plans of the party’s governorship candidate, Dapo Abiodun.

Salako-Oyedele revealed this on Sunday at a town hall meeting held at Otta, the state’s commercial nerve.
Large numbers of the state’s APC chiefs including the governorship candidate, Dapo Abiodun, re-elected Federal House of Representatives member, hon. Nurudeen Aina Akinpelu, Senator Akin Odunsi, Hon Tunji Akinosi among others graced the event put in place for APC candidates to interact with the electorate.

The over 1500 seating capacity Otta, Ijamido Town Hall was filled to the brim as party loyalists and supporters impressively acknowledged the deputy governorship candidate’s speech.

Salaoko-Oyedele in her speech described women as vital agents for development adding that they “play catalytic role towards achievement of transformational economic, environmental and social changes required for development.”

Politics / Re: Lagos2019: Sanwoolu Handlers Picks Fashola’s Picture To Boost Campaign by OkikiOlajide: 10:19pm On Mar 02, 2019
OkikiOlajide:
Following what was widely termed as below average on the performance of the Lagos state All Progressives Congress (APC) in the presidential and national assembly election, the party has taken a rare direction as the campaign team for the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu Campaign Organization (BOSCO) adopted the image of former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola to boost its campaigns.

newsheadline247 understands the Sanwoolu campaign team may have lost its confidence following the performance of the party in the presidential and national assembly elections held last Saturday where opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) coasted to victory in APC strongholds.
Anxiety mounts in the party after Sanwoolu who defeated Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in the gubernatorial primary of the party by over 920,000 against all odds lost his polling unit to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the presidential election.

Also, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Fashola lost their respective strongholds to the opposition in the election.

The poetic justice was that APC managed to poll 580,000 which is just 9 percent of the 6,500,000 registered voters in Lagos: many political analysts have been asking where are the 3,000,000 touted party members in Lagos State? Where are the 920,000 party members who voted Sanwoolu in the party’s primary?

Politics / We Have Task Of Bringing Hope To Hopeless Situations Across The State – Salako by OkikiOlajide: 9:36pm On Mar 02, 2019
Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, running mate to the Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured their government would bring hope to the hopeless situation across the state.

She said the ordinary people of Ogun State in the rural areas need to be shown there are some people at the helms of the affairs of government adding that it is their basic rights to feel more impact of the governments.
Salako-Oyedele, in an interview with The Nation newspaper, expressed concerns on the state of infrastructure and basic amenities in the state.

“Infrastructure is in dire state and the people lack basic amenities in most parts of the state. Health, education, roads, name it, are all in need of attention. Campaigning round the state was an eye opener and one is able to understand why our people are eager for a better government. I am saddened by what I have seen and challenged by the tasks ahead. We have a lot to do,” she said.

Salako-Oyedele, an engineer with about thirty years foreign and local experiences in the private sector, however, told the newspaper they are prepared for the task ahead.
She said, “We have a task of bringing hope to these seemingly hopeless situations across the state. The people received us well. They told us their needs. They pleaded that we must come to their aid. They want a new direction that will give them hope and they are trusting us to bring about this new direction. They are ready and eager to vote for us on March 9th. We also must be prepared to meet their expectations.

Politics / Lagos Guber Election: Agbaje Vows PDP Will Resist Any Violence by OkikiOlajide: 2:25pm On Mar 02, 2019
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje, has challenged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to be prepared for resistance if the ruling party unleashes violence in the March 9 governorship election.

In a series of videos posted on his verified Twitter account on Friday, Agbaje condemned the violence reported at several polling units across the state during the presidential and National Assembly elections last Saturday.
Agbaje, after he had visited some areas affected by voter suppression and violence, said that it was understandable why some Lagosians were disappointed, angry or afraid.

The PDP candidate, however, stated that when good people did nothing, evil prevailed.

He said, “Undoubtedly, what played out last weekend was a clear violation of the social contract between government and its citizens. Every Nigerian has a fundamental right to life, civil liberties and right to vote among other things.

“So, when you have a situation where thousands of people are put in harm’s way just because they choose to exercise this right while the government turns a blind eye, it has broken that contract.”

Politics / Lady Fights Back As Lagos ADP Candidate, BOG Calls Women-In-Politics ‘Side-chick by OkikiOlajide: 10:50am On Feb 20, 2019
The 2019 WIMBIZ Women in Politics Town Hall Meeting may have come and gone but there persist growing talks of an unforgettable moment of what was termed as ‘unpardonable error’ when the Lagos State governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi (BOG) addressed prominent Nigerian women at the event as ‘side chicks’.

It was the only moment when the well-organised event had its blemishes as a lady from the audience instantly protested the tag ‘side chick’ pronounced by the governorship candidate.

Women in Politics Town Hall Meeting was an event put together by the prestigious WIMBIZ and aimed at discussing issues centred on the involvement of women in politics.

The program was also targeted at encouraging female gender to support one another and as well to attract more women to actively get involved in politics.

The event held on the 13th of February, at the Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos had in attendance several female politicians aspiring for respective elective positions under different political parties.

Some of the notable candidates from different political parties who were key speakers at the Women in Politics Town Hall Meeting include Oluyemisi Haleemat Busari, (Lagos Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate), Arinola Oloko (Social Democratic Party, SDP Lagos state House of Assembly candidate) and Khadija Abdullahi (Alliance for New Nigeria, ANN, Vice presidential candidate).

Others are Lara Adesanya (Providence People’s Congress, PPC, Lagos gubernatorial candidate) and Tolulope Akande-Sadipe (All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives candidate).

The Lagos ADP governorship candidate was one of the few male dignitaries invited to the all-women-event.

But the event was tainted with a flash of ‘unpardonable error’ when the ADP governorship candidate while giving his remarks seemed to have ‘hit below the belt’.

BOG, as fondly called by his supporters in his speech, said he was apologizing on behalf of men for obstructing full women participation in politics. He apologised to “our mothers, wives and side chicks.”

According to a report monitored on AIGmedia pro, a lady in a purple chiffon top with low cut immediately interrupted and cautioned BOG for using the term “side chick”.
