Phones / Re: If You Didn't Use Or Know This Device, You're An Indomitable Generation by OkoAnike(m): 2:25pm On Oct 25, 2021
Mercychen:
I doubt if anyone here used this device. This is a pager. A historic electronic device used in sending record messages to big boys of yesteryears before the Advent of mobile phones.

I remember back in the day when I was working with a multichoice agency. My boss ( the agent) then was never in the office. So he had a pager which I normally send messages to him, either through a landline or I'll go to their paging office then at Kingsway ikoyi to send him the message using his pager number.

Work then was a lot stressful as this was the only fastest means of communication but then youll have to take the pain to Walk down to the paging office everyday except if you have a landline to call the office and relate your message and details of the receiver to them to send or forget about the message. Most times I don't bother and he'll be like " why didn't you page me yesterday and bla bla"? grin

Las las, I got tired of the job because of that everday "Waka Waka" and after the people (a neighboring office) I was using their landline started misbehaving and I stopped going there.

Times have really changed. I'm sure no one uses it any longer.

Yeah, far back in those days, it was Nitel mobile phone, we called it not 9 not, then Pager, multiLink, Intracellular and Reltel, all this are process we went through before the advent of GSM, all thanks to the company I was working for then...

Properties / Re: Cost, Estimate For Building A 3bedroom Bungalow In Nigeria (Detailed Info) by OkoAnike(m): 8:52pm On Sep 22, 2021
AsomArchitectNG:
Buying a land
For Lagos residents, Omonilelawyer specifies some things to watch out for when buying a land. These are;
Certificate of Occupancy
Gazette
Deed of conveyance
Survey plan of land
The above list is so you don’t fall into the hands of land scammers. These same requirements apply all through Nigeria and it is advisable to include a lawyer in the buying process.
Land price is dependent on location. It is not out of place to see various plots of land within the same state having steep price differences. Locations on the outskirts of the city are cheaper than those in central city areas. High-brow residential areas have jaw-dropping prices while waterlogged and conflict prone areas could be cheaper. A half plot of land is enough to accommodate a 3 bedroom flat as can be seen in this project. However, we will be going with a plot of land for this post.
One plot can go for as low as ₦350,000 to as high as ₦10 million or even higher depending on the area.

Please which area can we get a legit land between #400k - #500k...
Thanks

Health / Re: Do You Still Wear Face Masks? by OkoAnike(m): 7:14am On Jul 09, 2021
It's a must in my place of work, immediately you are picked up at your bus stop, you put it on else you come down from the bus, even occasion when you forget it at home.

Face mask is one of the century deception, especially in Nigeria, again my own must be won as long as you are within the facility, hence it's a burden that I can not do without everyday

Linzo:

Thank you very much i will take Economics and work on pursuing a certificate in ACCA or ICAN

Just a reminder, Economic at University level is more mathematical, infact it's more of the advanced maths. Note this and prepare your mind toward that.

Accounting will surely comes easy for you at University level now but you might need to fight for the grade in Eco and this country is not interested in what you study but what did you graduate with, if you graduate with FIRST CLASS in accounting is far better than joining the multitude in SECOND CLASS UPPER in Eco.

My little advice of many years in the market.

Romanoff:
This Red pill you people are swallowing, I hope you know the side effects?

People spend so much time during courtship or dating doing irrelevant things like having sex and galavanting all over the place, leaving aside important things that should be discussed like Finances, number of children, splitting of bills and chores, child care, faith, goals and ambitions, etc.

Your wife is earning enough to pay her own rent and as a fellow tailor, there is a maths to how much you charge customers which includes materials, operations cost and profit.

If you know you can't handle the financial burden on marriage, you should have discussed splitting bills with her, how much to save for projects etc.

You didn't discuss it, now she feels it's your right to pay rent for her shop while she pockets her profits and still claims you don't support her.

First error is not letting her know your salary. The positives of a woman knowing your salary outweighs the negatives if you shined your eyes and married a prudent woman.

A woman can better plan her life if she knows how much you earn factoring in your yearly rent, monthly feeding allowance, child care, savings and upkeep for both of you. You earn 100k but refused to tell her. She prolly thinks you earn over 500k and she prolly even earns more than you but since you're both not open about your finances, you're playing the blame game.

Una never know wetin marriage be, if not, you'd both be open about your finances. It's not about having joint account or she submitting her profits to you, it's about planning the little you both earn to benefit your family.

Make adjustments sir.

You are so sweet with this write up, the man that will marry you is a lucky man...

It hurts to see people think traditional worship is bad but Christianity, islam etc are good. We imported well packaged religions, demonised ours through films and lectures but when real problems come, we remember theres one traditionalist somewhere..... Weve gone mad, without our religion, cultural heritage, arts...... We are nothing, allowing foreign bodies to strip us of our identity... As the adage goes... OMO ALE LON FOWO OSI JUWE ILE BABA E(NA BAST.. ARD GO USE LEFT HAND POINT HIN PAPA HOUSE) continue demonising yours.... When push comes to sholve, you would realise you are still second tier citizens in another mans world... Maybe except for religious leaders milking you dry. They can pay their way into anything with your sweat and hard earned cash.
