Politics / Corruption Allegations Against FCT Chief Judge're Junks Of Lies, Cheap Blackmail by okrote4real: 8:07am On Sep 09, 2023 |
Corruption Allegations Against FCT Chief Judge're Junks Of Lies, Cheap Blackmail - Group Umbrella body of bloggers under the auspices of Bloggers and Vloggers, Content Creators Association, BAVCCA, Saturday, vehemently refuted corruption allegations leveled against the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Husseini Baba-Yusuf, as junks of lies and cheap blackmail by faceless bloggers. This was contained in an address presented by the National President of BAVCCA, Ikechukwu Chukwunyere, during a press conference, where the records were put straight on the heels of allegations of corruption against Justice Baba-Yusuf based on the in-depth findings of the Association. Chukwunyere said: "RE: FCT judges accuse chief justice (sic) of stealing of multibillion Naira allowances, leaving them vulnerable to bribe traffickers”: It is quite baffling to note that a publication that was touted to have been made, according to the publisher, after various “discreet interviews conducted over seven weeks”, allegedly with 5 judges, turns out to be a potpourri of lies, exhibition of crass ignorance, and monumental fabrication of falsehood that can only fit into folktales like Tales by Moonlight. "ON THE ALLEGATION THAT COURT IS RUN LIKE THE PRIVATE ESTATE OF THE CHIEF JUDGE: The Office of the Chief Judge in relation to other Judges of the Court is that of first among equals. My Lord, Honourable Justice Hussaini Baba Yusuf is very much aware of this, and therefore has always maintained a very cordial relationship borne out of mutual respect for his brother Judges. "In the discharge of his duties, he has always been very fair to his brother Judges. He has always ensured that they all are given their dues, entitlements, rights, and privileges as and when due, devoid of any segregation in whatever shape or form. "His brother Judges have, both in the open and in private meetings, expressed their satisfaction with the way he relates with them, carrying them along in his efforts at improving justice delivery in the FCT. No judge has been a better privilege than the other. "They all, at various times, have always attended trainings, seminars, and conferences due to them within the court's financial strength. "However, when the occasion so demands, some Judges of this Court are nominated, not by the Chief Judge, but by either the National Judicial Council (NJC), or National Judicial Institute (NJI) or some foreign organisations for some conferences or trainings, within or outside the country. "On such occasions, the only option is for the Chief Judge to facilitate such travels. On such occasions, it will be preposterous to accuse the Chief Judge of favouritism in any way, having not nominated them in the first place. "Also, the Chief Judge has done all that is within his power to insulate his brother Judges from several petitions, all in an attempt to afford them the requisite conducive environment, devoid of harassment, to do their jobs. "At times, even where it is very obvious that some of them had acted less than honourable at some occasions, but considering the distractions of making them go through the tedious process attendant with such issues, the Chief Judge had always personally intervened to assuage the parties concerned. "It equally important to state that where very serious allegations are made against his brother Judges, or where such petitions are routed through the NJC, the Chief Judge has no option than to allow the process go through it's normal cause. Apparently, this may leave a bitter taste in the mouth of some of these brother Judges who feel that he ought to ALWAYS insulate them from every manner of petition, irrespective of how grievous such petitions may be. Meanwhile, he (Chukwunyere) said the bloggers would be uncovered. "The Committee's report came back in the negative saying that Chief Judge Husseini Baba-Yusuf was innocent of all the allegations. "OUR RESOLUTION: That As Bloggers and Vloggers Content Creators Association (BAVCCA), we have deemed it fit to debunk claims against the Chief Judge Husseini Baba-Yusuf, over alleged corruption and personnel grievances that posses far-reaching implications for the administration of justice in the nation’s seat of power which are not true as they make Nigerians to believe a lie. "That ordinarily BAVCCA would not have responded to this allegations considering the fact that the allegations are not only false and baseless but the said allegations were levelled by faceless criminals who only embarked on this mission for political purposes and cheap blackmail. "That we have carefully gone through the articles and discovered that no name was mentioned as the source of their information, no Judge was also mentioned as their source and no evidence was even adduced to substantiate the said allegations. "That BAVCCA as the umbrella body of all Bloggers, Vloggers and Content Creators frown at the fact that members of our body should be used as tools in the hands of cheap blackmailers who thrive in peddling unsubstantiated information in the media. Bloggers who allow themselves as agents of these false news shall be penalized. "That from our independent investigations and findings, we observed with keen interest that the stories and reports put out there are all tissues of lies and baseless. "That the allegation against Honourable Justice Baba-Yusuf milking Judges' meagre allowances, leaving their courtrooms without support personnel, equipment and luring them to bribe, is untrue as he remains committed to prioritizing the welfare of Judges in Abuja. "That It is unfortunate, some of these publications were hurriedly put together and some news media ran with them without doing due diligence through investigation to verify and balance their reportage. "We want to make it clear that these allegations against Chief Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf have never been verified and authenticated anywhere and anytime; rather they are deliberately cooked up by some unscrupulous elements who do not mean well for our judiciary. "We therefore, call on Nigerians to discard this cheap blackmail from persons who are out to defame the Chief Judge of FCT, who has positively transformed the judiciary and repositioned it for high productivity. "That Honourable Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf is a go-getter, who has transformed the image and the integrity of the Judiciary, therefore, he has attracted local and international recognitions and awards. "That it is on record that nobody has written any petition against Chief Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf to the National Judicial Council since 1998 when he was appointed as a Judge in Federal Capital Territory High Court. Hence, he is committed to making adjudication of Justice pure and unadulterated. "That he has been able, through his proactive and pragmatic steps to improve the sanity and independence of the judiciary. "That members of the Bench, Bar and Judiciary staffs have showered encomium on his sterling performance since he took over the helm of affairs of the Judiciary in the FCT. "That a disciplinary committee has been set up to investigate erring members and appropriate punishment. "That BAVCCA assures Nigerians that we will continue to uphold the true tenets of Journalism, we also assure them of our impartiality in the delivery of duties to the Nigerian public."

This was contained in an address delivered during a press conference organised by the Coalition, which was read by the National Secretary, CCSON, Comrade Dele Anifowoshe in Abuja. Anifowoshe pointed out that there was no in-depth investigation before some media houses reported what they received as allegations from some persons they described as mischievous and unscrupulous elements. According to him, they had done their investigations that showed that the allegations were handiwork of detractors whose dirty businesses have be taken away and now are fighting back by using some sections of the media to report unverified facts. He said, "As Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria, CCSON, we have deemed it fit to debunk claims against the Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Director General, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, over alleged financial infractions which are not true as they make Nigerians to believe a lie. "From our investigations which indicated that the stories and report put out there are all tissues of lies and baseless. "It's unfortunate, some of these publications were hurriedly put together and some news medium run with them without doing due diligence through investigation to verify and balance their reportage. "We want to make it clear that these allegations have never been verified and authenticated anywhere and anytime rather they are deliberately cooked up by some unscrupulous elements who does not mean well for our country and peace. "We call on Nigerians to discard this cheap blackmail from persons who are out to defame the Director General of NIMASA who has positively transformed the agency and repositioned it for high productivity." According to him, the NIMASA boss is a game changer and goal-getter who had transformed the image of the agency, therefore, he has attracted local and international recognitions and awards. "Industry players have showered encomium on his sterling performance since he took over the helms of affairs of the agency. "Today, NIMASA is recognized for his performance by bringing the agency to be at par with its counterparts across the world based on its global best practices. "Dr Jamoh has stood out among those who were DGs of NIMASA by being gender sensitive and friendly, which the agency has 60 per cent of directors as women. "He has been able through his proactive and pragmatic steps made the Agency to have strong synergy between other relevant agencies and established international collaboration against piracy and other maritime offences resulting in an all time reduction in vessel and crew attacks. "With his personal involvement and engagement with the NIMASA Board, Executive Management Team and all staff of the agency, they have all worked assiduously to contribute to the success stories the nation’s foremost maritime administration has been associated with. "He is currently on the move to ensure NIMASA scales up performance of its statutory functions and activities to woo more for investors, professionals and all stakeholders in the nation’s maritime industry to boost the economy, he said, "Now we have to double our efforts." "Meanwhile, one of Nigeria's good great brains, Prof Pat Utomi stated that, “the Deep Blue Project and the Blue Economy initiatives Dr. Jamoh continues to champion have brought massive gains to the Agency and the nation’s economic diversification goals.” "Media reports also have it that the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) in its recent report had disclosed that piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, which had in recent times become the global epicentre for sea piracy, fell to the lowest since Q2 2019 after the Dr. Jamoh started enforcing the Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure, also known as the Deep Blue Project. "Based on the impact and achievements of the DG NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, since assumption of office has won several awards including the 2020 Zik Prize in Public Policy. "Also the prestigious media giant, Vanguard Media has given one of its highest awards to Dr Jamoh as recognition and commendation of his radical transformation of NIMASA, which was the 'Public Sector Icon (Maritime) Award', and critical maritime stakeholders who witnessed the ceremony acknowledged the fact that the NIMASA DG has worked hard within a short period to justify the honour. "Due to his excellent performance in repositioning NIMASA he was honoured with the prestigious award of 'Public Servant of the Year' in 2022 by Champion Newspapers. "Also internationally he has been applauded for his doggedness and determination to change the narrative after he hit the ground running as the DG NIMASA", they added. However, they made their stance known, "We once again state that the allegations against a core technocrat and goal-getter as Dr Jamoh are all lies from the lips of mischief-makers and faceless individuals as well as group." |
Politics / Cross River APC Demands Return Of Nat'l Women Leader Position by okrote4real: 8:46am On Aug 25, 2023 |
...want Tinubu's intervention The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Cross River State led by Dame Senator Florence Ita-Giwa on Thursday, had an exhaustive meeting with the National Chairman of the party, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, and strongly appealed for the return of the position of the National Women Leader back the state. Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the state Chairman of the Party in Cross River State, Barr Alphonsus Ogar Eba, said a letter has been written to the leader of the party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and noted that they have received assurance from the national chairman that the issues would be amicably resolved. Eba also called members of the party in the state to remain calm, noting that the state governor, Sen Prince Bassey Otu, has been fully briefed and has cut short his holiday to return to the country and he is on top of the situation. He Eba, said: "We the leadership of the Cross River State All Progressives Congress, APC, make our stand known on the purported move by some party chieftains to take away the National Women Leader position from Cross River State to Edo and Delta States. "Yesterday (Wednesday) the National Working Committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, came out and against due process for the Office of APC National Women Leader, which hitherto was occupied by Dr Mrs Betta Edu, was purportedly zoned to Edo State with Absolute disregard to Article 31.5 of APC Constitution, which is our guiding rules. "But in a civilized democracy aggrieved persons can only channel their grievances through the appropriate quarters. "Today, we have come to the National Chairman to inform him of this infraction and we have also written to Mr President to say that the National Women Leader position is commonly shared between Cross River and Akwa-Ibom. Edo and Delta presently have an NWC position, which is the National Publicity Secretary. "You cannot take our position to over-rate us and overenriching Edo State, and by the grace of God the National Chairman of our party has assured us and asked us to be patient that this matter will be resolved. "Our Governor is leaving his holiday and vacation to return back so that we can resolve this issue, we don't want trouble, and Cross River State is the only APC State in the entire South-South, we are providing leadership, and we are using this opportunity to appeal to every Cross Riverian that this matter would be resolved amicably. "They are comparing the in comparables; Government position has nothing to do with party position, it is the APC Constitution that guides the issue of zoning, it is the Nigerian Constitution that guides issues of ministerial appointment. Most States in the South-South have had two ministers we are only lucky that for the first time Cross River State now have two ministers and we are thankful to Mr President who found them worthy. "But this cannot take the place of our rightful entitlement and I have explained you are taking woman leadership from Cross River and Akwa-Ibom to add to Edo and Delta that have National Publicity Secretary and Assistant Treasurer and other NWC positions, it's like 'robbing Peter to pay Paul', and this is a party of equity and justice and injustice cannot stand, and we trust in the principles of Mr President, he would not allow this to happen." It will would be recalled that a delegation of Cross River Stakeholders, led by the indomitable Dame Senator Florence Ita Giwa, were on a solidarity visit to the National Chairman of the APC, HE Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje. The purpose of the visit was to address the ongoing saga involving the ceding of the office of National Women Leader of the party reserved for Cross River and Akwa Ibom to Edo state. The delegation maintained that, after the elevation of Dr. Betta Edu to the office of Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the president had approved that another Cross Riverian in the person of Hon Dr Mrs Stella Odey Ekpo should replace her. But the state was arm twisted and the office zoned to Edo State without due process and the name of Dr Stella Odey Ekpo was replaced with Dr Mary Alile Alele. This, they believed, is an infraction and an attempt to deprive Cross River state of its right and as stakeholders, they were there to ensure that justice is served. In the delegation were other notable stakeholders of the party and top government functionaries of Cross River State along with the State Chairman of APC, Cross River State, Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba, the Senator representing the Central Senatorial District, Sen. Williams Eteng Jones and the chief of staff to the governor of Cross River State, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar. Others include, member representing Ikom /Boki federal constituency, Hon. Victor Abang, High Chief Higgins Peters, honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Helen Isamoh Egodo, Honourable Commissioner for Information, Hon Erasmus Ekpang, former Commissioner for LG Affairs, Hon. The Head of Mission, International Peace Commission IPC-Nigeria, Amb Hussaini Haruna Coomassie has called on his staff and people of Nigeria to preach peace and focus more on doing good for the sake of humanity. He made this known while holding an extraordinary general meeting with members of IPC in Nigeria. He stated that Nigeria is moving forward and should be more focused on peace and security to bring about tranquility in the lives of it's citizens, which are prerequisites for socioeconomic development. He insisted that there should be synergy with the global body in making sure that members that show true commitment are treated with respect. "Nobody should take Nigeria for granted because we are working towards a lasting and peaceful democracy. There are people who are illegally running accounts in our name, which is fraudulent. We'll fish them out and take punitive measures against them. We need to take care of of everyone in IPC, especially the women amongst us. "I'm urging everyone to work diligently to make sure that this organisation achieve the necessary impact that it is expected to for a better tomorrow," he pleaded. In addition, he urges his staff members to prepare programmes that would enhance their activities and enhance their presence around the country. This was contained in a statement signed by some of the leaders including President Transparency & Accountability Group, Comrade Ayo Ologun; Executive Director, African Leadership Strategy and Transparency Development Initiative, Comrade Nelson Ossaieze; President Ijaw Youth Assembly, Comrade Dabara Dagogo; The Convener, Centre for Public Accountability, Femi Lawson; President Arewa Youth Congress, Nura Alkali; Convener, Transparency Initiative Project, Yemen Ngutor; and Executive Director, Pan African Society for Social and Economic Change Secretary COCSON, Basah Mohammed. "We want to state today that the report from the investigation has been turned in, we also want to state that other person who were consulted in this matter has unanimously agreed that the accusations are false since. "We want to state for the record that it is a public knowledge that the agency has not acquire any property abroad for the past 30 years. "It is important to state categorically that NIMASA is one of the agencies of government which has good administration and high level of integrity. They have also displayed a high level of compliance to the extant laws guiding its operations. "While we don't want to join words with the learned silk, we indeed appreciate his opinions on topics of public concern but it is obvious that he may have been misguided by other persons on this matter. "The NIMASA DG, Dr. Bashir Jamoh for the record is known for his proven track records in the NIMASA which is devoid of any form of corruption and scandalous act. "Dr. Jamoh, since his appointment has shown that he is a round peg in a round hole. Since his emergence, he has identified some of the problems in NIMASA and has successfully put in place solutions. "Also, The accusations of nepotism, mismanagement of funds and awarding fictitious contracts against Dr. Bashir Jamoh, is false and baseless. As a matter of fact, employment under Jamoh has been transparent and devoid of any manipulation. Jamoh as a person has refused to directly get involved in employment." However, in strong terms, the 74 CSOs said,"We are therefore appealing to those engaging in such smear campaign to desist from such acts and allow the DG of NIMASA to concentrate on his duties. "We also enjoin individuals and other Anti-corruption Vanguard, to carry out there personal investigation on the credibility of these claims."

Politics / President Tinubu's Transcript by okrote4real: 4:04pm On Aug 03, 2023 |
This is my first address as president to the NEC after the 2023 victory. I join the acting national chairman to celebrate today and congratulate all of you. And to say thank you for all you have done. Permit to equally say congratulations to the Senate President, speaker and the entire national assembly leadership for the way they have conducted their affairs thus far and the promise of the future from them. Thank you. All the elected leaders of our party, old and new, you have all gone through a process. It is the divine will of God that we are all here. To win the majority both in the Senate, house of representatives. I recalled in the 11th meeting of 20th April, 2022 when the national executive committee of the party devolved some powers to the NWC in accordance to the party's constitution. To among other things organize our party's primary, I'm happy that the NWC has fulfilled these responsibilities assigned to them faithfully. Let me commend them and once again say congratulations. I know election is just a step in the process, good governance is another one. We have gotten the trophy the president is standing before you and the reward for hardwork is more work. The party has a responsibility to promote unity, stability and love among ourselves. And we have to fulfill your dreams and the dreams of our founding fathers. To be sure that Nigeria remains the focal point of our domestic and foreign policies. You are the drivers of the party, when we have all other passengers, the drivers and co passenger must not fall asleep and the break working. Party loyalty becomes very important. Yes we are facing challenges in the court but I think this is the most credible election in Nigeria. So, we must congratulate ourselves. As a democrat, those who cannot accept the results of a free and fair election do not deserve the joy of victory. There are governance issues and we are taking it heads on, we must oil the wheel, grease it and we are. I have submitted ministerial list to senate for screening and approval. We are in the process of establishing fully the government of the people, for the people and by the people. I can see a number of my friends here and you have not been able to see me. It is what you all fought for to bring me here, we have governance issues and you will not see me often as you want to. Nigeria is going through some issues and I have sufficiently address it in my broadcast and the acting national chairman also spoke about it in his address. We will face it squarely to reengineer the economy of this country. We must find a way to satisfy the yearnings of the common man and we must ensure that all the policies we roll out work for the common man. Our policies are for the people not to punish the people. To the International community, I sent a message to Europe and America yesterday. To our partners, I ask how can you handle a barking dog and mad dog and prevent a barking dog from eating from the plate of your enemy. We are hungry and the continent depends on Nigeria. We need help but not at the expense of our joy, peace and happiness. The party is in your hand, let us redirect this party. Let us show the rest of the country that we are united for a purpose and if we via from the path posterity will not forgive us. So, ladies and gentlemen let us take a few items on our plates, vote the chairman and secretary while we devolve some powers to NWC to fill the others after consultation. Let us do what we can today. 2 Likes 1 Share

Politics / Bayelsa Guber: Apc's Sylva, Running-mate Risk Disqualification by okrote4real: 9:18am On Aug 03, 2023 |
Ahead of the Bayelsa State governorship election slated for November 11, 2023 by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, strong indications have emerged that the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Timpre Sylva and running-mate, Joshua Maciver, risk disqualification. This was disclosed on the heels of a suit filed against the defendants, Sylva, Maciver, and INEC, by the plaintiff, Incorporated Trustees of the Trustfield Empowerment Initiative at the Federal High Court, Abuja. According to the plaintiff, Maciver's jail term still running over a criminal offence, hence the party's governorship candidate, Sylva does not have a valid running-mate for the election. The plaintiff also queried INEC to allow Maciver to become a running-mate to Sylva knowing quite alright that Maciver is serving a criminal jail term. Meanwhile, the plaintiff said, "The provisions of Sections 175(1), 182(1)(d) & (2)(c) and 187(1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria clearly stated that anybody having been convicted for a criminal offence with a sentence of imprisonment, without Presidential Pardon, is not eligible to be recognised or listed by INEC, which MacIver is affected by these provisions. "Due to term of imprisonment, MacIver should not be given recognition by INEC as the running mate of Sylva for the 2023 Bayelsa State Governorship Election is not at variance with the Constitution of the Federal of Nigeria, null and void ab initio? "On the heels of these we are unequivocally stating here that in view of the conviction of Maciver for a sentence of imprisonment, he cannot be a running mate of Sylva who is contesting for the office of Governor of Bayelsa State in the 2023 Bayelsa State Governorship Election, hence Sylva does not have a running mate as submitted to INEC. "We also declare that recognition and listing of MacIver who is under a sentence of imprisonment, without Presidential Pardon, as the Deputy Governorship candidate Sylva in the 2023 Bayelsa State Governorship Election is illegal, unlawful, null and a gross violation of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. "Therefore, we pray the Federal High Court, Abuja to give an order of perpetual injunction restraining the INEC from recognising MacIver and Sylva as not having a running mate for the 2023 Bayelsa State Governorship Election."

Politics / ECOWAS, AU Are Becoming Weak To End Coup D'etat In Africa –ipc-nigeria Boss by okrote4real: 8:55am On Jul 28, 2023 |
Following the removal of Niger President, Mohamed Bazoum from power, by a group of soldiers who appeared on the West African nation's national television late on Wednesday, hours after the president was held in the Presidential Palace, the Head of Mission, IPC-Nigeria, Amb (Dr) Hussaini Haruna Coomassie has called on African leaders to sit up and work in unison to prevent further coup d'etat in Africa through better leadership peer review and improved security network across the continent. According to him, his organisation condemns it in all ramification and want something urgent to be done to restore the democratically elected Government of President Bazoum. His worlds: " We're not in support of any coup d'etat in Africa. When other countries of the world are working hard towards peaceful democracies and development. African Union (AU) and ECOWAS have become ineffective as far as curtailing such misadventures as coups in the continent. They really need to take a strong stance on such matters. "A coup d'etat happened in Guinea, nothing happened , Mali followed nothing was done, Sudan and now Niger. Don't forget that Cote D'Ivoire, The Gambia are also under threat. "If this is allowed to continue, other African countries that are fed up with the so-called foreign borrowed democracy, will adopt the autocratic rule of the military, which we as an organisation stands against. We condemn it in totality because no sane mind would support any coup d'etat, no matter how good it may seem," he advised. It could be recalled that Colonel Amadou Abdramane was seated and flanked by nine other officers, said defence and security forces had decided: "Put an end to the regime that you know due to the deteriorating security situation and bad governance." Which is a very flimsy excuses and we will not take it. https://kakaakireporters.com/ecowas-au-are-becoming-weak-to-end-coup-detat-in-africa-ipc-nigeria-boss/

Politics / APC To Dss–investigate PDP'S Wild, Mindless Allegations On Atiku's Attack by okrote4real: 8:10pm On Jul 25, 2023 |
ABUJA, FCT JULY 25, 2023 PRESS STATEMENT *INVESTIGATE PDP'S WILD AND MINDLESS ALLEGATIONS ON FOILED ATTACK ON ATIKU - APC URGES POLICE, DSS* In continuation of its vacuous and mindless campaign of calumny, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that suspected members of Boko Haram terrorist group arrested by the Police following their foiled plot to attack the residence of Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, in Yola, were sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC). Spewing lies and gibberish has become the PDP’s obsessive preoccupation following its crushing defeat in the last Presidential Election. This bizarre and senseless allegation comes only days after the same badly ailing Party alleged, without a shred of substantiation, that APC was engaged in a plot to intimidate members of the judiciary seeking to influence the outcome of pending cases before the Election Petitions Courts. It is downright irresponsible for the PDP to continuously politicize serious matters of security and national importance for its vain and macabre humor. As an age-old Party, this ceaseless display of egregious incivility in the conduct of its affairs is disgraceful and SAD. Acts of terror or involvement in a terrorist plot are heinous crimes under the law and the PDP cannot continue to bandy allegations around without justification. Atiku Abubakar is a citizen of Nigeria and deserves the fullest protection of the law. Our law enforcement authorities must protect and investigate any threat to his person, family or assets and prosecute offenders. However, Atiku Abubakar’s PDP cannot continue to peddle criminal blackmail and wicked falsehoods in the name of opposition politics, unrestrained and without accountability. We call on the Police, Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security services to investigate the PDP’s wild and bogus allegations, invite the PDP’s leadership to substantiate these claims and bring the perpetrators to justice. Nigerians roundly rejected the PDP at the polls. Rather than engage in some introspection and give the court the time of day to deliver a verdict in the case they have brought challenging the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, they have chosen to busy themselves with swimming in abysmal pool of lies and mischief. While vigorously defending our legitimate and popular election mandate in court, our Party will continue to win the hearts and minds of Nigerians through President Tinubu’s strategic program of social and economic development designed to improve the living conditions of our people. Politics / There’s A Sinister Plot To Undermine Nigeria's Judiciary, Democracy - Atiku by okrote4real: 8:31pm On Jul 22, 2023 |
PRESS RELEASE There’s a sinister plot to undermine Nigeria's judiciary, democracy - Atiku *Calls on Nigerians to be vigilant, puts international community on alert Since the conclusion of the presidential election in February of this year and the attendant controversies in its trail, there have been unfortunate developments that are saddening to many Nigerians. It is needless to say that the election that brought the current government into office is the worst in the annals of democratic politics in our country, even though it was promised to be the best ever. Consequently, the outcome of that election and the arbitrariness of the electoral umpire to declare a winner against the requirement of the law has been the reason Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of Nigeria (1999-2007) and Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and other parties in the election have chosen the patriotic path to challenge the outcome of that election. It is a truism that the judiciary is the only reasonable option in the quest for justice. As a matter of fact, our judiciary and the interpretations that they have given to our laws have been a major building block in our democratic journey so far. Our laws are very clear about the prerequisite of separation of powers as a guarantee of an independent judiciary. The idea behind that concept of an independent judiciary is to insulate that branch of government from unholy fraternity between its hallowed members and the rest of the society - especially the political actors. But as proceedings on the controversial February 25 election continues at the court, there have been threats from the ruling party that aim to intimidate the judiciary from serving the duty of justice. It is regrettable that the APC and, indeed, agents of President Bola Tinubu have ceaselessly chosen to stand in the way of justice by making catastrophic threats to anarchy if justice is not served according to their whims. These and reports in the media about some heinous plots to harass justices sitting on the petition are ominous to peace and the security of our nation. Our democracy gives the people of Nigeria the powers to choose their leaders, and our laws demand that our judiciary must be allowed to act independently without harassment and intimidation by the government or powerful interests. To compromise the workings of our democracy and seeking to compromise the workings of our judiciary is an open call for anarchy. As a party in the litigation that is currently reviewing the outcome of the last presidential election, we wish to express our intentions to do all that is within the law in resisting any attempt to undermine our fragile democracy. Indeed, we are using this channel to call on the international community to be alerted. Nigeria’s democracy should not be undermined by using the judiciary to serve the interest of the ruling party. Sadly, this has become the stock in trade of the All Progressives Congress to intimidate the judiciary. Recall that in 2019, the APC-led Federal Government similarly removed the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, when it was obvious that he would not bend to their will. The Department of State Services similarly stormed the homes of judges in 2016 and 2017, all in a bid to beat the judiciary into submission. “The plot of the APC is simple: intimidate the judiciary, threaten judges with arrest so that they will bow to their will. This is a playbook from 2019 when they removed the CJN and then replaced him with Tanko Muhammad, who himself was later accused of corruption by his colleagues at the Supreme Court and resigned shamefully. “However, the APC government never went after Tanko Muhammad as they did in Onnoghen's case because it was never about corruption but election. The APC has, over the years, built a reputation of judiciary intimidation. They accused about 10 judges of corruption, stormed their homes, and got them suspended and yet could not convict a single one of them. Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court could not recover from the embarrassment that he ended up dying in office. “Now, they have initiated a new plot. This time around, they want to intimidate the judges into delivering favourable judgments for them at the election tribunal. We draw the attention of the international community and, indeed, Nigerians to this fresh plot to steal the mandate of over 200 million people.” We are also urging Nigerians to abide by the golden rule of eternal vigilance being the price of liberty. On this note, we appeal to all security agencies in the country to remain professional in the discharge of their duties and resist being used as an instrument of oppression and intimidation against the judiciary. Signed: Paul Ibe Media Adviser to Atiku Abubakar Vice President of Nigeria (1999-2007) and Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election. Abuja 22nd July, 2023. |
Politics / No Crisis In APC - Stands United In Quest For A More Progressive Party by okrote4real: 8:06am On Jul 22, 2023 |
ABUJA, FCT JULY 22, 2023 PRESS STATEMENT *NO CRISIS IN APC - STANDS UNITED IN QUEST FOR A MORE PROGRESSIVE PARTY* Recent events in the All Progressives Congress (APC), notably, the resignation of the National Chairman and National Secretary has led some to suggest that the Party is in some kind of crisis. Incipient conversations and rumors regarding their possible successors have equally fueled false narratives of deepening crisis in the Party. Quite to the contrary, there is no crisis in the Party. APC stands as one strong, dynamic, resilient and progressive Party. The resignations under reference only show the high level of institutional maturity and quality of its leadership that place the best interest of the Party first and above personal egos and ambitions. The rapid and seamless succession, in acting capacities, to both offices exemplifies the cogency of its constitutional processes. Trending reports in sections of the media suggesting disharmony among members of National Working Committee (NWC) or between the NWC and other critical sections of the Party’s leadership around possible successor to the office of National Chairman are purely speculative. All sections of the Party’s college of leadership stand united in quest for a more progressive Party. While individual Party leaders and members retain their right to express their personal thoughts and opinions, they do not represent the official position of the NWC or the Party. Official position of the NWC on the subject of succession to any vacant offices of the NWC or any other subject will be communicated via the official channels of the NWC. Change in the life of any individual or institution is constant and inevitable. As Africa’s largest political Party, our demonstrated capacity to adapt to change and emergent realities always stands us out, and sets us beyond the wishes of doomsayers. We remain committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration towards uplifting the quality of life of all Nigerians. Signed: *Barr. Business / Vessel With Alleged Stolen Crude, A Public Stunt For A $50million Monthly Deal by okrote4real: 5:18am On Jul 22, 2023 |
VESSEL WITH ALLEGED STOLEN CRUDE, A PUBLIC STUNT FOR A $50MILLION MONTHLY DEAL The destruction of MT Tura II vessel, owned by Holab Maritime Services Limited, allegedly carrying 150,000 metric tonnes of stolen crude oil, was after all a stunt. Industry experts who are aware of the game said the 21yrs old vessel had no crude and has capacity for only 1000 metric tonnes. If it had, it would sink immediately it was destroyed. That stunt was for Bola Tinubu to renew Tantita Security deal of $50million monthly contract fees which expires in August 2023. NNPC Limited Mele Kyari, Tantita Security, Managing Director of Nigeria Petroleum Development Company, Ali Zarah, have questions to answer. While we keep our eyes on the Judiciary, let us also keep our eyes on our commonwealths. Information so far received on the circumstances surrounding the destroyed vessel is mind blowing. Politics / Hike In Petrol Will Cause Anarchy– APC Chief Coomassie by okrote4real: 8:10pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
Following the widespread anger by Nigerians, on Tuesday due to the hike in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and other oil marketers across the country, An outspoken chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC)Amb Hussaini Haruna Coomassie has called on the Federal Government and the President in particular to as a matter of urgency look for a lasting solution before the country is turned into turmoil. According to him, Nigerians are tired of consistent increase in hardships which are meted on them from various angles and the president should look for a way to cushion the effect of these crises. Coomassie who spoke to some select media in Kano urges the government to work out modalities that will help Nigerians who voted him into power. "Nigerians are in pains. They are lamenting yet there is nothing on ground to abate their situations. The coat of living has skyrocketed to more than 100 per cent. Nigerians are not smiling anymore. If the government continues to delay implementation of lasting solutions to these crises, they will be fanning the ambers of anarchy. "As you're removing subsidy from petrol, are you subsidizing foodstuff? Are you providing cheaper transportation for workers and goods? Where are those busses that were used in the previous regimes? And why can't they be put to use? "This is not the time to sit and wait for a miracle, this is the time act fast. You don't want to see another protest that would ground the country and plunge it into chaos. The president should know that the poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer. If he does not do the needful expeditiously, he should not expect support for his government from the people," he advised. In Kano and Abuja, for instance, the cost of petrol jumped from about N537/litre to between N617 and N630/litre, forcing the cost of transportation to skyrocket within hours, and leaving thousands of passengers stranded in many cities. The same people that were struggling to commute to various places just a day before. According to him he was on a que at AA Rano filling Station along Maiduguri road, Kano where pms was selling at N540. Unfortunately for him when it got to his turn the light of the filling station went off. "Which I knew it was deliberate, after waiting for about 45 minutes we were asked to move to the next pump, only to notice that the price has been changed to N617/litre. Many motorists angrily left but I had no option but to buy it at N617. Imagine the same commodity that they stocked at old price but, due to inhumane behaviour and impunity, they changed it to a new price on the same old product." The Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and many other citizens lambasted the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government for being so tough and lack of apathy towards citizens by allowing the continued hike in the price of petrol. Although the NNPCL and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, both Federal Government entities, explained that market forces caused the hike in petrol price, since the commodity had been fully deregulated, Nigerians expressed frustrations over the continued sharp increase in the cost of the product and despite the fact that how the previous price was arrived at was questionable. Nigerians are definitely not ready for this unexpected hardship, therefore the President should come to our rescue before things get out of hand. Also on the issue of 8,000 palliatives, the Ambassador insists on using the money to fix our refineries, secure enough buses to operate at subsidized rates across the country, build more infrastructure, mass housing to bridge the gap, improve health and education among others. N500bn can buy not less than 8000 buses which is enough to be distributed nationwide as mass transit buses. He added. Nigerians do not need handouts, we need Good Governance. Politics / EXCLUSIVE: Senate President Akpabio, Others Pad Palliative Budget by okrote4real: 9:36am On Jul 14, 2023 |
EXCLUSIVE: Senate President Akpabio, Others Pad President Tinubu’s Palliative Budget With Over N200 Billion Sources told SaharaReporters on Thursday that the senators involved capitalised on the request made by President Bola Tinubu for the appropriation of N500 billion for palliatives through the amendment of the Act to heavily pad the budget. Senate President Godswill Akpabio and some of his colleagues have used the amendment of the 2022 Supplementary Appropriation Act as an opportunity to pad the budget by over N200 billion. Sources told SaharaReporters on Thursday that the senators involved capitalised on the request made by President Bola Tinubu for the appropriation of N500 billion for palliatives through the amendment of the Act to heavily pad the budget. Budget padding is making the budget larger than the original estimates by inflating the value of items or introducing new items into the budget. The Senate on Thursday approved the request made by the President to appropriate N500 billion for palliatives to cushion the effects of the removal of the petrol subsidy on Nigerians. The Senate’s approval followed that of the House of Representatives which earlier agreed to the President’s request by amending the 2022 Supplementary Appropriation Act. The N500 billion will be taken from the N819 billion Supplementary Appropriation Act. Sources identified Senator Akpabio (Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District), Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau (Kano North Senatorial District) and Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly called Yayi (Ogun West Senatorial District) as the major architects of the budget padding. The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central), who sponsored the motion which was given accelerated passage by the Senate had said, “Mr. President, my highly esteemed colleagues, permit me to lead the Debate on this very important Bill which seeks to authorize the issuance of the sum of Five Hundred Billion (N500, 000, 000, 000.00 Naira only. “This sum has been extracted from the 2022 Supplementary Appropriations Act of Eight Hundred and Nineteen Billion, Five Hundred and Thirty-Six Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty-Seven Thousand, Eighth Hundred and Fifteen (819, 536, 937, 815.00) Naira only for the provision of Palliatives to Nigerians to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.” “Finally, I believe that the proposal in this Supplementary Appropriation is laudable and will help cushion the suffering of the Citizens of this country owing to the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS),” he had added. But SaharaReporters learnt that some senators including the Chief Whip, Ali Ndume (Borno South) openly objected to the budget padding by their colleagues but that didn’t stop the “crooked” ones from going ahead with it. “Akpabio and Adeola Yayi inserted over N200 billion into Tinubu’s palliative budget. They padded in more than N200 billion in the amended 2022 supplementary budget,” one of the sources in the Senate told SaharaReporters. “Senator Ali Ndume and others opposed it vehemently. Many senators walked out but Senator Akpabio still went ahead and passed the fraud. “Akpabio, Senator Jibrin Barau and Senator Adeola Yayi are the major architects of the budget padding,” another source said. Documents obtained by SaharaReporters show how funds were allocated under the column -2022 supplementary amendment (New amount) for projects that hitherto had no allocations under column – 2022 supplementary bill (Amount). The Padding For instance, N1 billion was suddenly earmarked for the “supply of Tricycles (Keke NAPEP) to the underprivileged in the society,” N2 billion was allocated to the “construction of public buildings in various communities and villages,” N4 billion was earmarked for rehabilitation and construction of selected critical roads while N2 billion was earmarked for the “construction of block of 3 classrooms with furniture and toilet, construction and furnishing of skills acquisition centres and construction of primary healthcare centres with furniture in some selected communities and towns”. Once Upon A Time Tinubu Criticised Saraki, Dogara For Budget Padding Ironically, in April 2019, Tinubu, who was the National Leader of the APC accused Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, both former members of the party, of budget padding. Saraki, then-Senate President and Dogara, then-Speaker of the House of Representatives, were members of Tinubu’s party until they defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2018 in the thick of pre-2019 election permutations. “Just look at the way Saraki, Dogara and their ilk hijacked the budget process these past four years,” he said in a statement released by Tunde Rahman, his spokesman. “National budgets were delayed and distorted as these actors repeatedly sought to pad budgets with pet projects that would profit them. Even worse, they cut funds intended to prosper projects that would have benefitted the average person. “After four years of their antics halting the progress of government, we should do all we can to prevent a repeat of their malign control of the National Assembly. “If we are truly committed to optimal governance, then we also must be equally committed to ensuring that the National Assembly leadership be competent and experienced as well as imbued with a progressive mindset and a desire to work in close cooperation with executive. “This is all Asiwaju has hoped to achieve. There are no ulterior motives. Everything he has done is in concert with and in furtherance of the wishes of President Buhari and the party.” https://saharareporters.com/2023/07/14/exclusive-senate-president-akpabio-others-pad-president-tinubus-palliative-budget-over

Politics / Re: "Akeredolu In State Of Extreme Incapacity, Hospitalised" by okrote4real: 5:38pm On Jul 11, 2023 |
The attention of the national headquarters of ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS has been drawn to a report, credited to the National Chairman; Senator Abdullahi Adamu, in the 11th July, 2023. The headline, "Akeredolu in state of extreme incapacity, hospitalised", bore a tinge of the usual mischievous, wicked and insensitive reportage, sponsored by desperate politicians. The National Chairman was indeed excited at the reports on the rate of recovery of the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, and urged all those present at the meeting to pray for his quick return. It, therefore, smacks of mischief and unabashed abandonment of professional ethics for a reporter to present this gross misrepresentation, a mischievous twist, as news. At no time did the National Chairman mention that the Governor was in a state of "extreme incapacity" in the meeting of 10th July 2023 or anytime for that matter. He is, evidently, not in any critical state that should warrant this clearly reprehensible conduct as he still sent a post to the Executive Council Committee platform yesterday. Members of the public are advised to ignore this news as the contents therein exist in the realm of the imagination of workers of iniquity. Mr. Governor is NOT incapacitated. He will return to his duty as soon as the doctors certify him fully fit to do so. Signed: *Senator Iyiola Omisore*, _FAEng; CON._ National Secretary.
