Agriculture / Farmers In Ondo State Want Pig Villages by Oluwamarc(m): 1:16pm On Mar 06, 2019
Pig farmers in Ondo state have called for the establishment of pig villages in major towns in the state to assist them to boost their production.

Speaking on behalf of the farmers, the Chairman of Ondo State Pig Farmers Association, Mr Andrew Adebayo in an interview with The Hope in Akure described pig farming as a good business.

According to him, Lagos has seven pig villages constructed by the government for pig farmers.

“We went to Lagos and we saw seven pig villages constructed by the government for farmers there. When we came back, we approached the state government to assist us in building such here but no government has assisted us.

“During the administration of Dr Olusegun Agagu, we went and acquired ten hectares of land at Ilutoro in Akure North local government and we paid the necessary compensation from members contribution.

“We started work there on our own. We moulded some blocks which we thought government will come and lay the foundation for us but nothing happened.

“When Dr Olusegun Mimiko came on board, he promised to assist us, he set up a committee but nothing was done. But we heard that there is a proposal now in 2019 budget that government wants to construct a pig village in Ilutoro because what we are doing there presently is small scale and we will be waiting,” he said.

He called on the state government to establish pig villages in towns like Owo, Ikare, Akure,Okitipupa, Ondo, Ore, among others.

While saying more people are embracing pig farming in the state,he said some other people who were into it had left adding that the little that is being done in the state is through the effort of individuals.

Adebayo who said that there is no assistance even at the federal level noted that government promote cattle more than pig saying that pork is better than beef nutritionally.

While stressing that pig farming is profitable, Adebayo said the animal, if properly fed can give one kilogram of meat per day.

“If they are properly managed, given adequate feed, they can give one kilo of meat per day. But when they are not being catered for, they will be shouting and crying. Also when you add anti-fly guard to their feed, they will not give you any unpleasant odour,” he explained .

Adebayo who said marketing pig is not a problem because people consume pork a lot stressed that the association is working on having a sales point since they no longer operate the one they used to have.

“We were at Lafe where we were slaughtering every two weeks but due to change, we no longer operate the place. The director of livestock in the state said we should get a sales point and we are working on it.

“Marketing pig is not a problem. I used to sell a lot of pork every day in my own house but because of poor electricity supply now, that cannot function again,” he said.

He called on government to assist pig farmers in the state adding that it can generate revenue through that.
Agriculture / 3,500 Ondo Rice Farmers For CBN Dry Season Farming by Oluwamarc(m): 12:29pm On Mar 06, 2019
No fewer than 3500 rice farmers in Ondo State will participate in the 2019 dry season farming being executed under the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Anchor Borrowers Programme.

The state Chairman of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Prince George Oladapo who made the disclosure while speaking with The Hope in an interview in Akure said the state is working on 7,000 hectares of land for the project.

According to him, there are so many farmers who are yet to be accredited under the pocket of the association adding more people may still be added to them.

Oladapo who said the state had not commenced the distribution of high breed seeds and farm inputs like other states noted that it would receive his own this week so that planting can commence almost simultaneously with other states.

“We are yet to receive our high breed seeds and inputs but we are on the farm, preparing our farm. We will receive our own this week and we will commence planting almost simultaneously with other states in the country,” he said.

Oladapo who said more people are getting interested in rice cultivation in the state stressed that the “we are so lucky in Ondo state, the topographical location is well positioned for rice cultivation, we have vast land, the weather is favourable and we have the manpower because more people are getting interested,” he stressed.

While saying Ondo state will feed the whole country if given the inducement and cooperation, Oladapo said the state is yet to tap in to what it has and called on the state government to embrace all windows of opportunities of finances and inputs to assist farmers.

He also called for assistance in the area of mechanisation and access to tractorisation to enable farmers to boost production.

Oladapo who believed that rice production in the country can conveniently take care of home consumption said the attitude of the people in the last three years and the interest of the the President, Mohammadu Buhari in bringing up rice production has proved it.

“We have stopped importation as well start processing facilities all over the country. Thank God, Mr President and the President elect is favoured towards bringing up rice production in the state”.

According to him, Nigerians must look away from getting white collar jobs especially the youths, look critically into agriculture and make it a profession and means of livelihood.

The 2019 dry season farming is a multi billion naira project being executed under the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Anchor Borrowers Programme targeting 700,000 participating farmers.

The project according to RIFAN President, Aminu Goronyo, is in strict compliance with the use of irrigable land with adequate irrigation facilities under the supervision of extension agents for adequate technology transfer.

Goronyo said last week that each states and FCT had commenced distribution of high breed seeds and farm inputs to participating farmers who would be cultivating 570,000 hectares of land adding that planting would commence simultaneously in the country.

He said CBN has expressed its willingness to continue to give necessary assistance to RIFAN because of its success story in rice production.
Politics / ODHA Election: Why Electorate Should Vote APC by Oluwamarc(m): 12:05pm On Mar 06, 2019
As countdown to election into Ondo State House of Assembly draws nigh on Saturday, I humbly and with a sense of responsibility plead earnestly with the enlightened electorate to give some thought to the harrowing and intractable problem of electing public spirited and enlightened House to complement the efforts of the executive arm in the onerous task of good government.
And ideologically oriented, disciplined and well focused Assembly imbued with industry and hardwork is since qua non to quick passage of appropriation bill and other ancillary matters predispose to good governance and democracy.
Towards this goal, the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu appreciates the power of the people in the smooth conduct of All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration in the state. The people’s traditional predilection for progressivism and welfarist programmes as the barometer on which the well- being of the people could be gauged is far from being doubted.
Hence, the urgent need for the next Assembly to be constituted with elected members of APC that are tested, trusted and amenable to party discipline to implement in full throttle the laudable programmes of the government controlled by APC.
In this connection, our good people of Ondo State should not be unduly disturbed and distressed about the poor showing of APC in the just-concluded National Assembly election.
We should not be oblivious of the fact that no man is infallible. Any human organisation is susceptible to mistakes and errors. We will be humble enough to accept this obvious failing with a view to making necessary amends that the state and All Progressives Congress (APC) Ondo State wing may move forward.
However, the grievous and costly political error APC hitherto gave room for barefaced political brigandage and manipulations of the opposition, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its co-travellers to have stolen the people’s mandate with reckless abandon, in the last exercise.
This must not dampen our enthusiasm and courage by any jolt to go all out as a good team, indeed our first eleven out of the conglomerate of aspiring politicians jockeying for political power without corresponding qualities and requisite qualifications to back it up.
On every cloud, there is always a silver lining. It is the conviction of vast majority of our people and some elite (I stand to be corrected anyway) that Ondo state is lucky, this time around taking into cognizance the prevailing peculiar political circumstance, to have Mr Rotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, a political and human rights’ activist of progressive bent as elected governor at this material time and for the first instance, a likeable, warm personality and a legal luminary of robust accomplishment that can truly mobilize the entire people thus expanding the already depleted frontiers of progressives in the state.
Ours is a progressive government even though there are some chaffs which must indeed be shifted from the grains/wheat with the passage. Our democracy inspite of its age is still evolving and taking shape with time. It all requires industry hardwork, patience and spirit of tolerance of individuals’ idiosyncrasies.
As far as we are concerned, Ondo State used to be the major stronghold of progressive politics in the entire south west. It was the nursery of progressive and radical politics; spread its tentacles to all the nooks and crannies of Yorubaland, and made impressive incursion amongst the liberal minded other ethnic groups in the country.
Ondo State as the avant-garde and cynosure of democracy upholding its tenets which foster all virtues of western democracies and any global concept and ideal that promote and foster education, enlightenment and material well being of the people.
Notwithstanding the momentary drawbacks and impediments on our progressive path masterminded by some obdurate elderly political elite and their unscrupulous political “verandah boys” who futilely tried to obfuscate the public with half truth, outlandish doctrine, gross mis-interpretation to distortions of facts about the political exploits of our revered political ancestors. May God bless their souls.
We shall remain resolute, unshaken, unmovable as rock of Gibraltar and tell the whole wide world umpteen times that politics is a calling to showcase the merits of our sound education of the mind and cognitive superiority acquired over the years with a view to deploying technical knowhow and fastrack the development and progress of one’s community and material well-being of the populace.
Our House of Assembly should be a training ground for the honourable members to exact their wealth of experience and knowledge in the public theatre. It is also a veritable platform to ascend the pinnacle of government. It is meant and designed for only serious and earnest politicians gifted with regime of mental magnitude and spiritual depth to weather any given political storm that may arise to rear its ugly head from time to time whilst deliberating the serious business of governance.
Such hallowed chambers requires men and women of culture, discipline, integrity imbued with calmness and serenity of mind; divine wisdom and intellect to cogitate on the affairs of the state and to a whole hog in proffering solution to multi-faceted problems of nationhood.
By the same token, it must be rigorously canvassed that all APC candidates should be given people’s mandate freely given on Saturday to occupy Ondo House of Assembly(ODHA) to give overwhelming necessary support to the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (SAN) for the untrammeled smooth running of government to run its full course without any distraction from the opposition notably the PDP which has nothing to offer the people if its sixteen (16) years’ grand misrule, fraud and large scale corruption is anything to go by.
For APC due to its welfarist programmes knows precisely where the shoe pinches the common man. There is need in fact ongoing plan to revitalize education with a view to give momentum to free education destroyed by the immediate past administration controlled by Dr Olusegun Mimiko led PDP regime.
The Owena multi-purpose dam is begging for urgent attention. It must be revisited to supply drinking water to the people in Ondo Central Senatorial district and promote agriculture (farming) especially to boost massive food production.
The above items adumbrated are amongst other infrastructure that Akeredolu led APC are of utmost priority for a progressive party to faithfully implement to the benefit of all and sundry.
In view of the peculiar circumstances the state is grappling with, the opposition led by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) lacks the strength of character, moral worth and edifying antecedents to take Ondo State to promised land.

Politics / Ondo South: INEC To Conduct Supplementary Election In 5 Lgas by Oluwamarc(m): 11:59am On Mar 06, 2019
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo State, Rufus Akeju, has announced that supplementary election in Ondo South Senatorial District would be conducted this Saturday to conclude the inconclusive senatorial election.
Akeju who disclosed this yesterday while briefing journalists in his office, explained that the supplementary election would be held in five local government areas which include, Ese-Odo, Ilaje, Irele, Okitipupa and Odigbo.
He stated further that 19 registration areas/wards comprising 56 Polling Units were affected with a total of twenty-eight thousand and forty-seven (28, 047) registered voters.
The REC noted that the supplementary poll in the Southern Senatorial District would be held alongside the Ondo State House of Assembly election.
Akeju assured that INEC is poised to conduct peaceful and credible House of Assembly election come this Saturday.
He explained that the incidence of inconclusive election is an indication that Nigeria democracy is having dept and consolidation due to the deployment of technology and the fortification of the rules governing the conduct of the election to enhance transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
“Because of the trend in the use of technology by the Commission, it is important to point out that the idea of politicians short-circuiting the electoral process in their favour is progressively becoming unrealizable.
“Under the current Nigeria situation, the three principal factors that often precipitate inconclusive election are, one, violence/disruption of the process, non-use of the Smart Card Readers (SCRs) and over-voting, among others”, he stressed.
He asserted that the Commission has stepped up action in the area of prosecuting electoral offenders as part of efforts towards creating permanent peaceful environment for the conduct of elections, adding that the commission is collaborating with the police and other security agencies in this area.
He commended all the stakeholders including the press for the various roles they played both individually and collectively in collaborating with the Commission during the just concluded 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
He disclosed that 323 persons were arrested for various electoral offences according to the IGP, Mohammed Adamu, saying the offenders would be persecuted.
The REC equally appreciated the electorate for coming out to vote for the candidate of their choice.

British investigators said Monday they had spotted a body in the wreckage of a plane that disappeared in the Channel two weeks ago carrying Argentine footballer Emiliano Sala and his pilot.
Sala, 28, was flying from France to join his new club, Premier League side Cardiff City, when the light aircraft disappeared on January 21 north of the island of Guernsey.
A wreck was found on the seabed on Sunday and closer inspection by a remotely operated vehicle confirmed both that it was the missing plane, and that a body was inside.
“Tragically, in video footage from the ROV, one occupant is visible amidst the wreckage,” the British government’s Air Accident Investigation Branch said in a statement.

“The AAIB is now considering the next steps, in consultation with the families of the pilot and passenger, and the police.”
The AAIB also released a grainy image showing a part of the fuselage with the aircraft registration. The depth indicated on the image was 67.7 metres (222 feet).
Sala’s father Horacio earlier spoke of his shock that the plane had been found, after a private search organised by the family.
“I can’t believe it. It’s a bad dream,” he told Cronica TV from his home in Progreso, Argentina, before the news about the body was announced.
Sala was flying to Cardiff after transferring from French team Nantes in a 17 million euro ($19.3 million) move — a record deal for the Welsh team.
The plane, a Piper PA-46 Malibu, vanished from radar around 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of Guernsey, with British pilot David Ibbotson the only other person aboard.
– ‘Best we could have hoped for’ –
Local police called off the search after a few days, saying it was very unlikely anyone would still be found alive.
But Sala’s family launched a crowd-funding campaign for a private search, which raised over 300,000 euros.
They hired shipwreck hunter David Mearns, whose vessel used sonar equipment to identify the plane wreckage on Sunday morning within a few hours of starting the search.
Another vessel, hired by the AAIB, then used its remotely operated vehicle to survey the seabed.
“Based on analysis of ROV video footage, the AAIB investigators on board the vessel concluded that the object is wreckage from the missing Piper Malibu aircraft,” the AAIB said Monday.
Suspected debris from the plane washed up on the Normandy coastline in France last Wednesday, further dampening any hopes of finding the footballer and his pilot alive.
“This is about the best result we could have hoped for the families,” Mearns had earlier told Sky News.
Top footballers were among more than 4,500 contributors to a crowdfunding page to look for the wreckage, launched by Sala’s family.
Horacio was the only relative to stay behind in Argentina as the others rushed to France and Guernsey to try to help with the search.
“I talk to them every day,” he said.
“They kept saying days were going by, and that there had been zero word on Emiliano, or on the plane.”
At Cardiff’s match against Bournemouth on Saturday, Sala’s photograph appeared on the front cover of the matchday programme.
The two captains laid floral tributes on the halfway line before what the club called a “silent reflection”.
Sala’s name, in the Argentina colours, was also spelled out behind one of the goals as supporters held cards aloft.
Cardiff manager Neil Warnock said Sala would have been “really proud” of the team after they won 2-0 in their first home match since the plane vanished.
Programme notes, penned by owner Vincent Tan and the rest of the Bluebirds’ board, said events had shaken “Cardiff City to its very core”.

Politics / Tongues For Nigeria by Oluwamarc(m): 10:08pm On Oct 14, 2018
Maybe if I will offer to Orunmila, Eleri ipin, a bowl of fresh water, a white unblemished hen, and countless rolls of white clothes, maybe he might give me a better understanding of the special materials Eledua used in creating Nigerians, by the way of our natural configuration, we hold a different composition in terms of our behavioural pattern.
I wake up everyday to see my timeline been graced with the "Atikulated" lines, same as it was graced some few years ago with the, "Sai Baba" slogans.
How amazing, the waters has been turned a new, and a shoal of new fishes has found their way in, Sai Baba has lost his wits, Atikulated is the new cool.
What beats me is that, the new cool is the same man we categorised among the politically unfit group, whose existence in the issue of our national discourse holds no relevance, but now, since we are tired of "Baba Go-slow" we have resorted to painting another nightmare, Messiah, just like we did for Sai Baba.
The excuse of many Is that other candidates are nothing but green horns, and their political platforms holds no water, so we decided to pitch our tent with the bettwr devil. Shior!
The Green horns, these are people we feel we know, with amazing ideas, who deserves a shot at greatness, but we also feel, they lack the wits to dance to the drums meant for our so called big masquerades.
Country People, we will never move beyond these trying times if we fail to take that collective decision to seeing beyond the lines, beyond the faces of men who has rocked the scene of our national discourse for far too long without any viable development to show for it. Enough is a enough

Muhammad advocated crucifying others. (Qur’an 5:33, Muslim 16:4131) whereas Jesus was crucified himself. According to his followers, Muhammad had others give their lives for him. (Sahih Muslim 4413). Jesus gave his life for others. (John 18:11). Allah sent his followers to die for him. God sent HIS son, Jesus to die for YOU.

Politics / The Nigerian Police Force And Its Excessiveness by Oluwamarc(m): 1:19pm On May 20, 2017
In one of my recent surfing on the web, I was quite fortunate to stumble upon an old picture of the old sage, Professor Wole Soyinka, as he was been led away by an official of the Nigerian Police Force, from the piece it's crystal clear that he was been arrested and the police man in charge simply did his job in a very respectable and dignified manner worthy of a law enforcement officer, while the old Sage, simply walked with his hands in his pockets, strolling along like a man walking into a bar, while the police man walked few seconds behind him. Such was the beauty of the Nigerian Police Force back then, when the devil has not yet introduced his own shade of black into the black uniform they wear.
It grieves me so much even as I fingers sorrowfully punches my keypad, airing out my feelings, and I can only wish I have some esoteric power, which cab bring back the good old days when our law enforcement officers lived and acted worthy of their trade, I remember how my mum once smacked my little brother when he jokingly said he wanted to become a police man, mum simply told him to look for a better career path, nothing is good about them, took me years to understand this, for all I see of the Nigerian Police force was a set of people in blacks with hungry looking batons who are well skilled in collecting money on our highways.

For objectivity sake, I would like to commend them for at least living up to expectations in some aspects of our national life, well they be tried, but I will not spend my time listing their achievements, that's not the sole aim of my discourse, let's us strike the nail while it's still hot, the recent level at which members of the Nigerian Police force have shown that they have little or no respect for human rights in Nigeria is quite alarming, we are a nation with a clearly spelt out rules and regulations as entrenched in the constitution, and as stipulated by the law, they are meant to enforce these laws, protecting the citizens in the process, but this does not place them above the rule of law, for every individual, group etc, there are checks and balances, one of the mission statements of the NPF which caught my eyes ,"To participate in efforts aimed at addressing the root causes of crime while ensuring that any criminal act is investigated so as to bring the criminals to justice in a fair and professional manner" to be sincere, the NPF clearly lacks professionalism, and it seems that thugs and vagabonds grace the NPF uniform, public attention has been drawn to the recent show of shame displayed by some members of the Nigerian Police Force in which a man was recently chained to their car, and they took much pleasure in dragging him along, while the car was moving, tears, RIP to common sense among them, I see no difference between them an some uncivilized middle age folks, or animal, because it's only an irrational and sense deprived fellow who will choose to ignore the law, a constitutional provision upon which they are sworn to protect.
It's upon this that I sought to make a clarion call to all members of the society, irrespective of social strata that the law is not a tool to be toyed with, we owe humanity the obligation to live right, by the societal codes and conduct, the mere fact that we are to enforce the law should not give us the notion that we are above the law, instead, we should see it as an honor, a great responsibility which must be guided with all sense of humility and patriotism, God help us to create a society we're justice and fairness entrenched on the template of equity, failure to do this, we are no different from Animal, better still far worse than them, for we have the ability to reason which they posses not. Peace.

Politics / Boko Haram Frees 80 More Chibok Girls by Oluwamarc(m): 8:16pm On May 06, 2017
The Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram, has released a batch of more than 80 of the Chibok high school girls who were abducted in mid-April 2014.

According SaharaReporters’ source, the release of the 80 abducted school girls came after further negotiations between the Islamist group and the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The 82 girls who just regained their freedom are currently in Banki town in Borno state awaiting airlift to an unknown destination.

The source added that once the girls are secured in a new location they would be debriefed, undergo a psycological and medical test and then be reunited with their families.

Also the Britain and the United States on Friday said Boko Haram was preparing to kidnap foreigners in remote northeast Nigeria, which is in the grip of a food crisis caused by the conflict.

The Foreign Office in London said it had received reports the Islamist militants were “actively planning” to seize foreign workers in the Bama local government area of Borno state.

Both said in travel advice that the affected area was “along the Banki-Kumshe axis”, which is near the border with Cameroon.

The US embassy in Abuja said in a message to its nationals that the report was “credible”.

Boko Haram has kidnapped thousands of women and children, including more than 200 schoolgirls from the Borno town of Chibok in 2014, which brought the conflict to world attention.

At least 20,000 people have been killed since 2009. But abductions of foreigners have been rare.

There was a spate of kidnappings of foreign workers in the wider north from 2011 to 2013, claimed by a Boko Haram splinter group, Ansaru, which was more ideologically aligned to Al-Qaeda.

The leader of Ansaru, Khalid al-Barnawi, has been charged with the abduction and murder of foreign workers, among them an Italian, a Briton, a German, Greek, Lebanese and Syrians.

Most were engineers or construction workers.

International aid workers now account for the majority of foreign nationals in northeast Nigeria. Most are based in the Borno state capital, Maiduguri.

Hundreds of thousands of people in the Lake Chad region require urgent food aid as a result of the conflict, which has made more than 2.6 million people homeless and ravaged farmland.

AFP visited Banki with other international media two weeks ago.

Humanitarian agencies operating in the town include the World Food Programme, International Organization for Migration and other UN bodies.

Banki was liberated from Boko Haram in September 2015 and is currently home to some 32,000 displaced people in a sprawling, overcrowded camp.

The surrounding area still suffers from frequent Boko Haram attacks on military convoys, as well as suicide bombings.

Fighters loyal to Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, who were pushed out of their camps in the Sambisa Forest area last December, are believed to be responsible.

The kidnap warning and the threat to humanitarian operations underlines the fragility of security in northeast Nigeria, despite claims from the government and military that Boko Haram is a spent force.

Health / World’s First Baby Born From Three-parent Technique by Oluwamarc(m): 10:00am On Sep 28, 2016
The world’s first baby has been born using a controversial new technique by US scientists to include DNA from three parents in the embryo, said a report Tuesday.
The baby boy was born five months ago in Mexico to Jordanian parents, and is healthy and doing well, said the report in New Scientist magazine, described as an “exclusive.”
The boy’s mother carried genes for a disorder known as Leigh Syndrome, a fatal nervous system disorder which she had passed on to her two previous children who both died of the disease.
She had also suffered four miscarriages.
The woman, whose identity was withheld by New Scientist, and her husband sought the help of John Zhang, a doctor from the New Hope Fertility Center in New York City to have a baby that would be genetically related to them but would not carry the inherited disease.
The United States has not approved any three-parent method for fertility purposes, so Zhang went to Mexico where he was quoted by New Scientist as saying “there are no rules.”
One method that has been approved in the United Kingdom, called pronuclear transfer, was deemed unacceptable to the couple because it would involve the destruction of two embryos, said the report.
Since the mother carried the genes for the disease in her mitochondria, or DNA that is passed down from the maternal side, Zhang used her nuclear DNA and combined it with mitochondria from an egg donor, in a technique known as spindle nuclear transfer.
“He removed the nucleus from one of the mother’s eggs and inserted it into a donor egg that had had its own nucleus removed,” said the report.
“The resulting egg –- with nuclear DNA from the mother and mitochondrial DNA from a donor -– was then fertilized with the father’s sperm.”
– Presentation next month –
Zhang and his team are expected to describe their method at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, next month.
An abstract describing the research has been published in the journal Fertility and Sterility, but outside experts said much more remains to be understood about the research.
“As this technology is controversial and a world first, I think the investigators should have submitted a manuscript for full peer review instead of announcing these outcomes in this manner,” said Justin St John, professor and Director of the Centre for Genetic Diseases at Monash University.
Attempts began in the 1990s to create a baby by injecting mitochondrial DNA from a donor into the mother’s egg, and adding sperm from her partner.
“Some of the babies went on to develop genetic disorders, and the technique was banned,” said the New Scientist report.
“The problem may have arisen from the babies having mitochondria from two sources.”
Another outside expert, David Clancy, a lecturer at Lancaster University, recalled that experiments in monkeys have shown that maternal mitochondrial DNA can expand from low levels to significantly higher levels, “which would allow disease to again be transmitted, so we must expect the possibility in humans.”
For now, Zhang and his team said the boy’s mitochondria has been tested and “they found that less than 1 percent carry the mutation,” said the report.
“Hopefully, this is too low to cause any problems; generally it is thought to take around 18 per cent of mitochondria to be affected before problems start.”
In addition, his being a boy ensures that he could not pass down any inherited mitochondrial DNA.
“While we should remain vigilant about this technique as new information and research accumulates, let us hope this child grows up and has a long healthy life,” said Clancy.

Politics / Meet Hillary Clinton’s Personal Doctor – And He Is Yoruba by Oluwamarc(m): 7:06am On Sep 25, 2016
Although Nigerians are usually painted in a bad light in international settings, there are still some of our citizens who keep giving us reasons to smile. One of these people is doctor Oladotun Okunola.
Recall that the United States Democratic party presidential aspirant, Hillary Clinton, recently had a health scare while on the campaign trail but made a magical recovery to the surprise of many.
However, Clinton has revealed the man behind her quick recovery, and yes, he’s no other person than Nigerian doctor Oladotun Okunola.
According to a post on usapoliticsnow.com, Hillary’s personal doctor follows her around while she’s on the campaign trail, and blends in with the secret service. Dr Okunola, is said to be on hand for whenever she needs emergency medical attention.

Clinton was said to have tweeted the following words after her recovery from her recent health scare where she fainted and had to be assisted out of the venue of the 9/11 memorial event:
Dr. Okunola’s Achievements

Religion / Pastor Stuck In Shrine Trying To Destroy Idols by Oluwamarc(m): 6:57am On Sep 25, 2016
A pastor, identified as Wale Fagbere, became motionless while trying to destroy a shrine in Ketu, a community in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Our correspondent gathered that the pastor whose church could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report reportedly became motionless and speechless after he had allegedly destroyed some shrines in the town.
It was gathered that the cleric was reported to have told his congregation that he had a revelation to destroy all the shrines in Ketu community.
After being found transfixed in the shrine, residents of the area raised the alarm, following which custodians of the shrines came to the place.
The priests insisted that they had to perform some rites before the cleric could regain his sense.
The rites were performed following the intervention of Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Abdulaziz Adelakun, who appealed to the priests to ‘release’ him.
The state acting Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, adding that the cleric might be charged for “sacrilege and malicious damage.”
He said, “The command got the report at its division in Ayetoro that one Evangelist Wale Fagbere went to Ketu to destroy traditional worshippers’ shrines. After the destruction, the man became motionless and could not talk.
“When the policemen visited the place, the traditionalists said the subject could not be taken away until some rites were performed. The victim was revived and handed over to his family for more spiritual cleansing.”

Politics / President Buhari To Be Blamed For Plagiarism, Not The Speechwriter by Oluwamarc(m): 10:44am On Sep 17, 2016
"President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said the speechwriter responsible for plagiarising the United States President Barack Obama’s 2008 victory speech will face disciplinary action.

The statement read in part, “President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that prompt and appropriate disciplinary action be taken against those responsible for a wrongful insertion in his speech delivered on September 8, 2016 at the launch of the ‘Change Begins with Me’ campaign."

Now I must say, I'm beginning to get pissed off at this habit of our leaders giving out their speech out to the " so called professional speech writers" This might be the norm in our present day society, but I don't really buy it
These speeches should contain the president personal opinion not some speechwriters opinion and thoughts, even if you have to employ the services of a speechwriter, you have a duty to examine this speech before accepting them

Instead of PMB diverting the blame to another fellow, he should take responsibilities, he's to be blamed for the plagiarism.
