Politics / Mid Term Report : Utomi, Others Rate Sanwo-Olu's Administration High by Oluwamarc(m): 7:19am On Aug 02, 2021
Lagosians have rated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration above average in their mid-term assessment of the government.

They said he is on track.

One of such ratings came from a renowned economist, Prof Pat Utomi, who said the state was being repositioned by the governor’s transformational strides.

Hailing the commitment demonstrated by Sanwo-Olu to take the state to loftier heights, Utomi noted that infrastructure upgrade would boost local and foreign investments.

He, however, urged the governor to take advantage of Lagos’ littoral status to maximally harness its economic potential, replicating developmental drives in every part of the state.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu has done well, as Lagos has thrived well under his leadership,” he said.

The Executive Director of the Lagos- based Centre for Public Accountability, Olufemi Lawson, said one could not but laud the commitment and consolidation of the visions of the governor’s predecessors towards transforming Lagos to a mega city.

He commended the approach of Sanwo-Olu’s administration in ensuring that virtually all developmental projects left uncompleted by his predecessor were completed as a matter of priority.

Lawson said: “The governor’s commitment towards making Lagos economy bigger than he met it is very significant. This is not appreciable to Lagosians and Nigerians alone, but also the international community.

“Being conscious of the vast growing population in the state, the administration has focused on improvements in social services such as housing, transportation and security.”

He described as noticeable, the spread of sustained infrastructural development by the Sanwo-Olu government.

Lawson said the Sanwo-Olu administration had reduced crime by providing regular logistical support to the Police Force and other security agencies.

He likewise spoke about the heavy investment made by the Lagos State Government on developmental initiatives for youth, which included skill acquisition programmes, educational support, loans and grants.

Politics / Mid Term Report : Lagosians React As Adebanjo Commends Sanwo-olu by Oluwamarc(m): 8:56am On Aug 01, 2021
Lagos residents are already making their reactions known on the two year old administration of Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Majority of Lagosians have however, commended the outstanding performance of Sanwo-Olu since he took of the state's leadership in May, 2019.

One of the high profile residents of Lagos State and the leader of Pan- Yoruba Socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has given a pass mark to the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu. In his unbiased midterm assesment of the governor, Chief Adebanjo who resides in the highbrow Lekki area of Lagos opined that the performance signature of Sanwo-Olu can be seen in all sectors of the state .

The highly respected nonagenarian
also averred that Governor Sanwo-Olu deserves commendation for his prudent management of the state resources as well as the visible transformation of Lagos State in a little above two years.

The elder statesman further averred that Lagos State under the leadership of Sanwo-Olu has continue to witness steady growth and development, especially in the areas of economy and infrastructural development. Adebanjo also emphasized that the remarkable transformation of Lagos State was still impressively achieved by Sanwo-Olu despite the drastic reduction in the monthly handout from the federation account.

Chief Adebanjo also took time to applaud the revenue generation drive and leadership ingenuity of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos State in the last two years. He nonetheless charged the governor not to rest on his oars in his quest for a greater Lagos.

Similarly, Coordinator of the Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness, Dr. Gabriel Nwambu has also rated the performance of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu very high in the last two years. He equally expressed his appreciation for the governor's aggressive and systematic approach to road infrastructures that had been delivered in quite a numbers of urban and rural communities.

"I want him to improve on water project. Almost every city in Nigeria is so poorly flooded with water and we need to see properly planned efforts to overcome this problem in Lagos. But he has done so well on roads and building community road infrastructures.

"He has done very well. I will give him a high pass mark. He has done things that I am proud of. He has done very well. He should improve more on the issue of security, infrastructures and water. I think those are the challenges he needs to focus on the more".

More so, Dr. Gabriel Nwambu again commended the revenue generation ingenuity of Governor Sanwo-Olu in view of the global economic meltdown occasioned by the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasized that the pandemic had ruined global economy.

"Global economy had gone down and Nigeria is not an exception. Lagos State too is also not an exception because it is an integral part of Nigeria. Most of the revenues in Nigeria are generated from Lagos State.

"You know, when you talk about FIRS and others, Lagos State is one major state with the chunks of the revenues; but I know that the impact of Covid-19 has affected the state. So, Sanwo-Olu as the governor has scored a pass mark. He has performed credibly well given the circumstances he found himself in governance", Gabriel Nwambu commended.

Politics / AKETI TRIUMPH : A Victory With Double Indices. by Oluwamarc(m): 7:28pm On Jul 28, 2021
By Pastor Ola Amuda

The triumph of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu at the Supreme Court following the appeal filed by Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) has been described as a victory with double Indices. This statement was made today by Pastor Ola Amuda while responding to questions on how he felt about the judgement. Ola Amuda, who was a former top public officer in the state as well as an ex-aide to late Dr. Olusegun Agagu noted that “the judgement means a lot of things not only to Mr. Governor or those of us fervently following him but to the generality of the good people of Ondo State not only because of his forthrightness, but also because of the great developmental projects going on in the State.”

Speaking further, Amuda noted that “Like in some academic circles, examination results partly serve as an index of the teacher's effectiveness, so is this judgment today by the Supreme Court.
Aketi has passed four different examinations in his quest for the Governorship position.
He passed the people's (electorate) test in October 2020 by breaking all existing records in respect of Governorship election in the Ondo State. He would be the first Governor to win a total of sixteen (16) out of eighteen (18) and won the Constitution’s requirements in all the eighteen (18) local government areas in the State. He also was victorious at the Election Petition Tribunal, the Court of Appeal Tribunal and now at the Supreme Court. We give all glory to God.'

He commended the Supreme Court Judges who handled the case for their wisdom in jettisoning what could be referred to as the “edge of legality doctrine in the circumstance”.

While congratulating the Governor, his family, the Chairman of APC in the State as well as Members of APC and the good people of the State for the resounding victory, he also commended the sportsmanship and gentlemanly posture of Barr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), who he referred to as an example of a good leader.

He concluded by spying into the future expectations of the people from the Government " with the judgement, we are confident the good works will continue unhindered, the Oda road project will be completed, the Ijoka- axis dual carriage road project will be implemented. And I am sure the Northern Senatorial District will definitely receive the blessings and attention of Mr. Governor”.

Politics / Man Challenges Apostle Johnson Suleman Money Miracle Claim;Recieves Death Threat by Oluwamarc(m): 11:42am On Jul 28, 2021
Following the Money Miracle Claim made by Apostle Johnson Suleman, the leader of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, where he claimed that money were transferred by angels to bank accounts of Members during a Sunday service, Mr. Israel Goodness Balogun had taken to the social media to refute such claims as he claimed that such was impossible.

As shown in a viral video online, Apostle Johnson Suleman during a live service had instructed his members to lift up their phones while he prayed for them that money should be miraculously transferred to their various accounts, few minutes after this declaration, some of the members has trouped out in excitement claiming that they had miraculously received credit alerts.

While this had generated various reactions on various Social Media Platforms, Mr. Israel Goodness Balogun had called out the leader of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide on the credibility of his claims. According to him, there could have been other human activities involved and should not be seen as a miraculous act.

His reaction did not go down with some members of the Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, while some of them condemned Mr. Israel Goodness Balogun, he also received death threats from several others. Prominent among them is Hon. Obi-West Utchaychukwu, a media aide to Apostle Johnson Suleman who threatened to silent Mr. Israel Goodness Balogun as he did to Daddy Freeze and others who spoke against Apostle Johnson Suleman.

Mr. Israel Goodness Balogun had since issued a public post holding Hon. Obi-West Utchaychukwu, responsible if anything happens to him. Efforts to reach Hon. Obi-West Utchaychukwu to hear his own side of the story proved abortive as his lines were switched off.

Politics / Sanwo-Olu Wins Vanguard Personality Of The Year (Picures) by Oluwamarc(m): 5:22am On Jul 18, 2021
Governance in Lagos State is undoubtedly at its best moment at the moment because the Centre of Excellence is being governed by a tested, trusted and reliable administrator. It is a fact that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu took charge of the economic nerve centre of Nigeria at a very challenging period. A good leader in the mould of Sanwo-Olu could best be likened to a bright light that had promptly sent darkness packing and illuminated the path of his people.

The number one citizen of Lagos State has evidently over-performed in the last two years of serving as governor to have earned the trust, love and confidence of all Lagosians. The sterling performance of Babajide Sanwo-Olu in just two years has equally fetched him accolades from
different quarters and categories of people that include students, traders, artisans, industrialists, opinion moulders and religious leaders.

Running through the major achievements of Sanwo-Olu in the last two years, the compassionate governor had consciously touched all the sectors of Lagos. The peoples' governor had equally committed time and resources to the completion of virtually all uncompleted projects he inherited from his predecessors. Moreso, particularly worthy of note is the commendable handling of Covid-19 pandemic by Governor Sanwo-Olu. This efforts had in the real sense saved Nigeria from what could have become a major heath disaster in the entire country.

Sanwo-Olu had effectively deployed his persuasive management skills to stabilise governance in Lagos State in spite of visible challenges. It is a public knowledge that the Lagos State Governor had completed several projects that he inherited which include the Lagos Homs in Igando, Agege Pen Cinuma Bridge with additional roads network, the Igbogbo-Ikorodu Housing project and the BRF Housing Estate in Iponrin, Lagos Homs in Lekki and several roads across the metropolis.

In his determination to substantially improve transportation in Lagos State, Sanwo-Olu has done a lot on the Lagos Light Rail Projects. He had equally opened up more communities with new link roads and bridges. In his two years of being in office, 51 major projects had been delivered by the governor.
Some of these projects include the
Lekki Oniru Traffic Circulation Projects, Lagos-Ogun Boundary roads Phase II, network of roads in Ojokoro, Somolu and Ikoyi. In addition, administration of Sanwo-Olu had also delivered on 301 inner roads in the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). The Oshodi-Abule Egba BRT lane had already been commissioned while Eleko junction to Epe concrete pavement road construction is ongoing.

Lagos is arguably one of the safest state in Nigeria today due largely to the efforts of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The outstanding intervention of his administration to guarantee improved security in Lagos State include the delivery of
150 Double Cabin Vehicles, 30 Saloon Patrol Vehicles, 1,000 Ballistic Vests, 1,000 Ballistic Helmets and 1,000 Handheld Police Radios/Walkie Talkies. Other security equipment procured by the Sanwo-Olu administration for effective policing also include 100 security patrol bikes, two Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), 4 High Capacity Troop Carriers, two Anti-Riot Water Cannon vehicles as well as office and command furniture. In addition to these were other ancillary support resources.

The health sector of Lagos has likewise felt the impact of Sanwo-Olu's midas touch. Heath facilities so far delivered in the last two years include the new Massey Children Hospital, New General Hospital in Ojo as well as a Rehabilitation of Mental Health facility in Ketu Ejinrin. Maternal and child health had also witnessed great improvement with the provision of Mother and Child Centres in Eti-Osa, Igando, Badagry and Epe. In addition to this, was the construction of a 300-bed Isolation Centre and a Research Institute at IDH in Yaba.

In only two years, more than 1,097 school projects had been competed in the educational sector of Lagos State. Also, six new secondary schools had been built while more than 100,000 tables and chairs had also been provided. Moreso, more than 2,000 hostel beds had equally been provided in model schools across the state while 2,000 teachers were likewise recruited for public schools.

In the last two years, the EKO EXCEL was also introduced. This represents an education reform programme that targeted at developing highly skilled teachers through training, support and motivation. Thus far, this program had been extended to
almost 1,009 schools, 13,000 teachers as well as 450,000 pupils across the metropolis. As if these were not enough in just two years, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had significantly transformed the management of waste and drainage in Lagos through LAWMA.
Olusosun dump site had had been substantially expanded to 42 acres so as to accommodate more waste and ensure a quicker turnaround time for trucks.

No doubt, Lagos State is well positioned for greater growth and enviable development with Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the saddle. The visionary governor is busy tasking and reinventing himself on the need to deliver on the Integrated Mass Transit System, 4th Mainland Bridge and the Imota Rice mill which is expected to provide employment opportunities for more than 250,000 Lagosians.

It could be strongly asserted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had successfully and impressively delivered on his four years madate in just two years. Therefore, the remaining two years of his administration could be sais to be for bonus performances. Notwithstanding the incredible performance and demonstration of leadership genius by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor is not prepared to slow on his quest for a transformed, consistently developed and massively prosperous Lagos State.

Politics / The Afobaje Jinx And Tinubu Presidential Ambition by Oluwamarc(m): 3:09pm On Jul 15, 2021
By Femi Salako, Publisher Triangle News Media

At the heart of the Yoruba Traditional System when it comes to the installation of Kings is the intricate and important roles of the Afobaje, otherwise known as kingmakers.
The Afobaje (king makers) had the traditional power to enthrone the king and may depose him if too tyrannical towards the people and if the community is not peaceful.

Their work surpasses more than just the installation of Kings in our traditional setting, they are also tasked with the duty of preserving the richness and values imbedded in Kingship in Yoruba land. An ordinary man without the proper skill set, cultural heritage or awareness or the shared belief system of the communal living of the people has no place or right to ascend the throne of power; thus the work of the Afobaje is hinged on ensuring that the right royal materials are given the mantle to rule the people and also in cases whereby they violate the trust of the people, they also ensure that they are removed to preserve the system which is considered sacred.
While the new age realities might have diminished the relevance of the Afobaje within our socio-cultural settings, it’s very much with us as it has found its way into our socio-political setting with many people consciously and unconsciously performing the work of an Afobaje.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a two time former Governor of Lagos State, Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is one who has conveniently played effortlessly the role of the Afobaje within our socio-political space. From an ordinary State Governor in Nigeria, he has etched himself a place in our history books as one of the personality who has groomed and given power to men under him who has went on to lead various institutions across the 36 states of the Federation.

Politics / Repositioning Lagos As Model Of Devt by Oluwamarc(m): 5:12pm On Jul 09, 2021
By Biyi Adebisi

In a little above two years that Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been in office as the Executive Governor of Lagos State, the Centre of Excellence, has witnessed remarkable repositioning in all sectors. Lagos State has enviably attained a level of development that will practically be difficult for any other state in Nigeria to match.

Governor Sanwo-Olu could be said to have literally performed some wonders with the infrastructural and economic transformation of the state. Notwithstanding the covid-19 pandemic that practically crippled global economies, Lagos has continued to flourish. The state has continued to take maximum advantage of her population and seeming endless economic activities to create economic prosperity.

Notwithstanding the challenge of having to carry the burden of over 20 million residents in the commercial nerve center, no sector of the state has been left out in the drive for an all round developmental stride. In just a little above two years of being in office, Sanwo-Olu has greatly impacted the economy of the mini-country state. Lagos State has since become a huge construction site under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu while he has also shown great commitment to the completion of all inherited projects.

It is a known fact that no meaningful economic activity can take place in an atmosphere that is devoid of security. For this reason, Governor Sanwo-Olu had purchased 150 vehicles, 4 high-capacity troop carriers, 30 patrol cars, and 2 anti-riot water cannon vehicles for the use of police personnel in the Centre of Excellence. This huge investment has made it possible for security agents to seamlessly ensure maximum protection of lives and properties in Lagos State.

The novel Lagos State Security Trust Fund has continued to serve its all important purpose of providing the much needed support for security agencies in the state. Through this initiative, operational vehicles, communication gadgets and other logistics were readily made available for security agents in the Centre Excellence. It is to the credit of Sanwo-Olu and his ingenuity in security matters that Lagos State now stands out as one of the safest states in Nigeria.

Commendably, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has committed a huge chunk of resources and attention to ensuring easy, faster and qualitative mass transportation in Lagos State. Sanwo, as he popularly called has since embarked on the construction of 100 bus shelters, out of which 78 had already been delivered.

Within two years, the hard working governor had commissioned more than 600 buses under the Bus Rapid Transport system. Also launched were the 500 First and Last Mile Buses. Aim of this project is to provide 5000 FLM buses that would cater for inner transportation within Lagos and ultimately serve as replacement for motorcycles that are popularly known as okada.

Sanwo-Olu is also working very hard to deliver the Lagos intra-city rail projects. The Blue and Red lines of this project fall into the framework of mass transportation. As at now,

work is already nearing completion on the Lagos Rail Mass (LRMT) Blue Line Project which run from Mile 2 to Marina. Red line of the project is particularly expected to bring great relieve to commuters within the Centre of Excellence. Also, LAGFERRY has equally taken the delivery of 20 ferries that ply various routes in the state on a daily basis. This agency is also working on the construction of 15 jetties across the state to enhance and boost its operations.

The administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has also performed wonderfully well in its response to and the management of coronavirus pandemic in the state. In only two years, Lagos State Government had carried out the massive upgrade of infrastructure in the state owned facilities. This was done through the Medical Project Implementation Unit (MPIU) in a bid to build a resilient healthcare and to also increase access to healthcare delivery in the state.

This initiative had so far led to the completion and equipping of two Maternal and Childcare Centers (MCC) in Eti-Osa and Badagry, while another 110-bed MCC was recently completed in Epe. Also, renovation of Mainland Hospital in Yaba had been completed with a future plan to get it converted to an Institute of Research for Infectious Diseases. In the same vein, General Hospitals at Apapa, Harvey road, Yaba, Isolo, Odan as well as Ebutte-Metta Health Centre had been completely renovated to allow for better access to health care delivery in Lagos State.

In addition, administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is also undertaking the construction of 280 Bed General Hospital in Ojo with another 150 Bed New Massey Street Children’s Hospital. Remarkably, Government of Sanwo-Olu had equally approved the construction of another 1,500 Bed Psychiatric Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre at Ajidun. The Sanwo-Olu led administration in Lagos State had likewise collaborated with a private sector investors to deliver Oxygen Plants at the Mainland and Gbagada General Hospitals. This effort was also in addition to the delivery of Triage and Oxygen Centres in 10 locations spread across Lagos State in just two years.

Above all, Lagos State has in the last two years remain very committed to the welfare of healthcare workers. This much was demonstrated with the construction of a 24 Unit Doctors and Staff Quarters at Gbagada General Hospital. Premium priority has also been given to the prompt payment of salaries and allowances of health workers in Lagos State since Babajide Sanwo-Olu took over the mantle of leadership.

In view of the requisite technical know-how and availability of infrastructure, Lagos State Government is a lot more positioned now for future control and management of any health challenge of whatever magnitude.

Another area where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also deserves a thumps-up is in the rehabilitation and construction of new road across the length and breath of Lagos State. In just two years, the ingenious governor had embarked on massive construction of roads which include the Oniru road networks, Ojokoro road network which is 31 in number as well as the Pen Cinema flyover in Agege.

Other road projects already delivered by Sanwo-Olu in just two years were the Oshodi/Abule-Egbe BRT corridor, Phases 1 & 2 of Badagry Expressway, Lagos-Ogun boundary roads, 6 major junction improvements at Lekki1 & 2 , Ajah, Maryland, Ikotun and Allen Avenue.

The governor had equally delivered on Jide Oki / Ade Adedina/ Olugbani streets in Iru/ Victoria Island, Ijegun-Egbe road and Ishuti road in Igando as well as St. Finbarrs road/Diya street in Yaba and Iwaya road.

Not done yet, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had likewise carried the rehabilitation of 216 inner roads in the 20 Local Governments Areas as well as the 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) of Lagos State. Road projects that are still ongoing in the state include the Lekki Regional Roads, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Agric-Isawo Road in Ikorodu, Bola Tinubu-Igbogbo-Imota Road, Ijede Road and Oba Sekumade road.

Undoubtedly, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu truly deserve a loud applause for his ingenious management of the waste generated on a daily basis by the over 20 million residents of Lagos State. Activities of the the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Private Sector Participation in refuse disposal have so far become completely re-energized and re- organized in the determination to achieve a cleaner Lagos.

In the last two years of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, the LAWMA Academy had been launched while the Olusosun dump site had equally been expanded to 42 acres so as to accommodate more waste and ensure a quicker turnaround time by trucks. It is also to the credit of Sanwo-Olu that Trapezoidal channels and collector drains were also constructed across the state to check the incident of incessant flooding in Lagos State.

Performance of the Sanwo-Olu led administration in Lagos State in the educational sector is evidently incomparable. In just two years, 1,097 projects had so far been completed in 970 schools across Lagos State. Also, blocks of classrooms, administrative offices, school furniture, laboratories and toilet facilities have been provided across the six Education Districts of Lagos State.

In a bid to improve the quality of education in the state, Lagos State Government had in the last two years recruited and trained 3000 teachers for the public primary and secondary schools in the state. Similarly, teacher that were already in the state teaching workforce also became exposed to continuous training in an effort to update their skills and also arm them with modern teaching techniques. More so, the APC led administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu had also signed an agreement with six private investors for the construction of 8,272- units hostel at LASU.

The housing sector of Lagos State had also not been left unattended to by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The administration had undertaken a 3,000 kilometer of metro fibre connection across Lagos State for security enhancement. Also, the government of Sanwo-Olu had only in two years made provision for a fully digital mapping platform in addition to an integrated end to end land administration system which includes integrated land automation system. The administration had equally embarked on the construction of houses for both low and high income earners. Worthy of commendation is the stride of Lagos Mortgage Board in strengthening the “Rent to Own” policy so as to provide the desired opportunity for many residents especially the first time home owners.

Also worthy of note is the efforts of Governor Sanwo-Olu to grow the agricultural sector and promote food security in the state. In just two years, not less than 879 farmers and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) had so far benefited from the Lagos Agro-Processing, Prodctivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) project. In addition to this effort was the creation of Eko Farmers’ Market for the purpose of providing ready-made off-takers for farmers to sell their products on a regular basis. Remarkably, the Imota Rice Mill is well positioned to create 250,000 employment opportunities for Lagosians.

Interestingly, several empowerment and poverty alleviation programs had also been rolled out by Lagos State in the last two years. So far, 3,673 businesses had been supported with #1.156 billion. Other economic intervention programmes which include grants, mentorship, business advisory, capacity building and market access opportunities had also been made available to Lagosians.

In addition to these, another 1,835 businesses had likewise been supported with #939.97 million. This in reality, had saved more than 10,000 direct jobs and 40,020 indirect jobs through the MSME Recovery Fund. This is actually an intervention program that is designed to cushion the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on businesses in Lagos State.

The government of Sanwo-Olu had also rolled out the Lagos Economic Acceleration Programme (LEAP) to reduce the negative impacts of Covid-19 pandemic on small businesses. Thus far, N5 billion EduFund was made available in partnership with First Bank Plc and EdFin FMB. Additional N1 billion was also set up and targeted at businesses in the tourism, hospitality, entertainment, arts and culture sectors.

It is definitely very surprising that Babajide Sanwo-Olu could still manage to perform wonderfully well in just two years, despite the initial challenge of Covid-19 pandemic that almost brought economic activities to a halt in the state. This has undoubtedly convinced that the governor is truly a leader with outstanding leadership qualities. Sanwo-Olu has worked tirelessly to transform and make Lagos State an enviable model of development in Nigeria.

The man is still very much full of zeal, strength and ideas to deliver a greater Lagos.

Politics / Akeredolu Bids TB Joshua Farewell, Says He Was Ondo's Gift To The World by Oluwamarc(m): 5:02pm On Jul 09, 2021
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, led a high powered delegation of the Government of the state to pay last respect to the late Prophet Temitope Joshua who was committed to the Mother Earth in Lagos on Friday.

Prophet Temitope Joshua hailed from Arigidi-Akoko in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of the Sunshine State.

On the Governor’s entourage were the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun; Chief of Staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale; and other members of the State Executive Council.

Governor Akeredolu described the farewell service as a world congregation, adding that it attested to the late Prophet's acceptability across the world.

In his tribute to the late cleric, the Governor said the people of Ondo State, Nigeria and the entire world have lost a rare gem and a special breed, who was a worthy citizen and true son of Ondo State.

He said the late Prophet has engraved his name in the hearts of the people of the world.

“The passing of Prophet T. B. Joshua is indeed a great loss not only to the people of Ondo State and his home town, Arigidi-Akoko, but to humanity.

“The indelible imprints and impacts of the late Prophet are visible not only in his home State, Ondo State, several parts of Nigeria but throughout the world.

“Indeed, he was globally acknowledged. He contributed greatly to the uplifting of the downtrodden, emancipation of the widows and orphans all over the world.

“He touched their lives socially, economically and spiritually. We recall that the late world-renowned televangelist had a humble beginning, he wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

“Perhaps that could be the reason for his affinity with the less privileged in our communities. We cannot but testify to the good things we benefitted from him as a State, in terms of scholarship awards to students, youths empowerment, resolving and settling huge electricity bills owed by some local governments and ensuring their reconnection to the national grid after many years of disconnection, giving logistical support to security agencies, amongst others,“ Governor Akeredolu said.

He described the late prophet as a firm believer in love, saying he preached love in most of his teachings.

The Governor said: “He was a man of peace who remained focus and undeterred in his mission on earth despite criticisms and misgivings by some people about him.

“His style portrayed originality, peculiarity, humility and simplicity. He was a gifted leader who was able to command large followership across the globe. He was a man who pulled himself up by his bootstraps to achieve stardom.”

While urging the people to take solace in the fact that the man of God lived a fulfilled life, the Governor prayed that God should give his widow, Evelyn Joshua, the children, the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) and, of course, the Kabiyesi and people of Arigidi-Akoko the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

Politics / Something Good Is Happening In Lagos!!!! by Oluwamarc(m): 8:54am On Jul 04, 2021
By Biyi Adebisi,Lagos

The recent ENDSARS protest which led to the wanton destruction of properties in Lagos State creating a huge loss for the Lagos State government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu might have thrown a clog in the wheel of progress of the nation's economic seat. However the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration has shown its commitment and strong resolve to reposition the state for more industrial cum economic growth and u unprecedented development.

A master behind the wheel, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu like a Picasso holding a brush and pastel is decisively set to re-write the developmental narrative of Lagos State. While many had forecasted that it will take Lagos State decades to recover from the loss it suffered during the ENDSARS protest, but to everybody's surprise and amazement, Lagos State has continued to grow in leaps and bounds ever since the unfortunate incidence.

Thanks to the strategic planning and vision of the rising star of Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. With exceptional brilliance coupled and unique leadership skills, he has continued to harness the resources of the State to pushing the state forward on a forward and progressive lane.

While the State has continued to lead other States in the Federation in terms of its internally generated revenue, it has also continued to witness the birth of a series of new projects which are adorning the physical state in Lagos.
The most recent, is the delivery and commissioning of the ultramodern Yaba Bus Terminal to boost public transportation services in Lagos State. Revitilising and re modelling of this ancient iconic land mark is one which deserves public commendation from all quarters.
This Terminal which was commissioned by the Governor is an ancillary infrastructure that will compliment the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line which is currently being constructed.

According to the Governor during the commissioning of the project,“Yaba corridor is prominent feature in the Lagos State Transportation Master Plan, because of its peculiar nature as a melting pot of commercial, technological and academic activities. The city’s evolution over the years places enormous responsibility on the Government to ensure that its dynamism and growth are sustained through balanced development.

“The facility being commissioned today is a world-class terminal from which buses will originate and terminate. In the next 18 months, this bus terminal will be integrated with the Yaba station of the Red Metro Line that is being constructed close to the terminal. The Yaba Bus Terminal reflects our vision for regulated bus services, which the State Government currently champions through Traffic Management and Transportation pillar of our T.H.E.M.E.S agenda.”

This is an unquestionable evidence of a man blessed with a good vision for the State, he represent the new class of elites who do not live for themselves alone but for the bright future and the public good of the larger society.
It is heart warming to observe with such joy that in spite of the prevailing and pervasive economic hardship in the country, Good things are beginning to happen in Lagos State and this has been made possible through the tireless efforts, great vision and commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Politics / Rebuilding Lagos After #endsars Violence by Oluwamarc(m): 7:30am On Jul 02, 2021
THE 2020 #EndSARS protest which led to the wanton destruction of properties in Lagos State, creating a huge loss for the Lagos State government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, might have thrown a clog in the wheel of progress of the nation’s economic seat. The destruction, including of public buildings, transit buses, family houses and media houses was monumental, palaces, businesses, police stations and residential quarters, was the most comprehensive and the most deadly that the state has ever witnessed. The state was literally enveloped in thick smoke as hoodlums took advantage of the genuine protests of Nigerians, particularly the youth, against police brutality and unleashed mayhem on the state, orchestrating destruction of property to such an extent that a whopping N1 trillion was projected to be the amount needed for comprehensive repairs. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, was apparently very disturbed by  this while responding to questions from State House Correspondents after an assessment visitation of some of the properties that were destroyed during the protest. To take just a few examples,  27 of the burnt Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicles in the Oyingbo and Ojodu Berger areas of the state cost $200,000 each, while 57 of them cost $100,000 each, making a total of N3.9 billion. As Vice President Yemi Osinbajo noted at the time, “It is now the time to rebuild. It is time for the painful and costly task of reconstruction and rehabilitation.”

However, there is positive news on the horizon. Gradually, the haze left all over Lagos following the protests is begin to fade away in the face of rebuilding efforts. The Sanwo-Olu-led administration has shown its commitment and a strong resolve  to reposition the state for more industrial cum economic growth and unprecedented development. A master behind the wheel, Sanwo-Olu, like a Picasso holding a brush and pastel, is decisively set to re-write the developmental narrative of Lagos State. While many had, given the gravity of destruction, forecast that it would take the state decades to recover from the loss it suffered during the ENDSARS protests, the narrative has changed. To the surprise and amazement of Nigerians all over the world, Lagos State has all but cast the tragedy that befell it aside, continuing to grow in leaps and bounds ever since the unfortunate incident. This has not been merely fortuitous: it’s all been due to the resilience, passion, strategic planning  and vision of the Sanwo-Olu administration. Life is back to normal with law and order restored, and Lagosians can now channel their creative energies into building the mega city of their dream, one that ranks favourably among its counterparts the world over.

With exceptional brilliance coupled and unique leadership skills, he has continued to harness the resources of the state, pushing it forward on a progressive lane.  While the state has continued to lead other states in the Federation in terms of its internally generated revenue, it has also continued to witness the birth of  a series of new projects which are adorning  its landscape. The most recent was the delivery and commissioning of the ultramodern Yaba Bus Terminal to boost public transportation services in the state. The revitilisation and remodelling of this ancient iconic landmark is one which deserves public commendation from all quarters.

The terminal, which was commissioned by the governor, is an ancillary infrastructure that will compliment the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line which is  currently being constructed. This is an unquestionable evidence of a man blessed with a good vision for the state, one who represents the new class of elite who do not  live for themselves alone but for the bright future and  the public good of the larger society. Lagos is not just the pride of Yorubaland but the pride of Nigeria as a whole. While not without its own fair share of challenges, it is still perhaps the most realistic environment for the young and old to actualise their economic dreams. That being the case, the saying “Eko o ni baje,” is in reality the expression of hope for a truly prosperous Nigeria. Whatever affects Lagos ultimately affects Nigeria as a whole, and no genuine citizen would be uninterested in the affairs of Lagos. That being the case, it is heartwarming to observe that in spite of the prevailing and pervasive economic hardship in the country, good things are beginning to happen in Lagos State and this has been made possible through the tireless  efforts, great vision and commitment of Governor Sanwo-Olu. Apparently, there is still a lot that needs to be done. But going by what is being done currently, there is no doubt that the vision will be accomplished.

Politics / Hon. Abiodun Faleke Derides Tinubu And Others Over Family Imposition by Oluwamarc(m): 12:42pm On Jun 23, 2021
Faleke derides Asiwaju and other GAC leaders as his girlfriend with forged certificate loses out in Chairmanship race

The Progressive Grand Alliance (PGA) in a Press Statement has berated Hon. James Faleke, the major sponsor of Alhaja Layeni Kafayat one of the aspirant who lost in the just concluded APC LCDA election in Ojodu.

Alhaja Layeni Kafayat had presented a fake WAEC result to the party's electoral screening committee, an act which has been described an outright violation of the party's constitution and the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Hon. Faleke in his apology for his conduct in the charade during the APC LCDA primary election stated that his actions was necessitated by his motivation to eliminate and curb the move by some party members to impose their family members on the party at the expense of others, an act which he claimed had become a long-standing culture in the party across all levels.

Responding to his statement, the Spokesperson of the group, Comrade Lanre Adaramola berated the Hon. James Faleke for his ignoble attempt to drag others in the mud with him.

According to him, the unwarranted statement of Hon. James Faleke was no doubt aimed at the National APC leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Other GAC leaders.

According to him, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinu Daughter is the Iyaloja General in Lagos State, Asiwaju's wife is the Senator representing Lagos Central, Remi Tinubu's sister is a 2nd term Commissioner after being a 3 term Assembly Member, Tajudeen Olusi the most senior GAC member has his son has the Lagos Island Central Chairman, while Lai Mohammed's son is the representative of Ikeja Constituency 1 at the National House of Assembly"

Comrade Lanre Adaramola stated that the All Progressive Congress (APC) has it structure deeply rooted in fairness and meritocracy and would never prioritize any other unconstitutional means over the party's cores and values.

He also added that the recent utterances made by Hon. James Faleke only signifies his bitterness as his chosen candidate who he had heavily sponsored during the election had not only lost out at the election but has also been found to have committed a criminal offense.

In his words," Faleke himself is a product of the system as he never participated in any primary election yet has been Sole Administrator, Chairman twice and a three time House of Reps member."

"These benefits he enjoyed as a Cardinal Odunmbaku’s political godson, and as a result of this he had no moral authority to address the issue"

The group also warned him against making any further utterances which does not represent the interest and principles of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has approved the commencement of promotion exercise for over 3000 Teachers in the State Teaching Service.

The State Head of Service, Pastor Adeniran Adeyemo who made this known today while flagging off the year 2021 promotion exercise for the qualified Teachers at the headquarters of the State Teaching Service Commission in Akure commended Governor Akeredolu for magnanimously approving the exercise in demonstration of his avowed commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the state workforce.

The Head of Service charged the officers to cooperate with the management of the Commission by attending the interview as scheduled and avoid falsifying their credentials to enhance smooth running and success of the exercise within the stipulated time.

He noted that with the early approval of the promotion exercise government want to avoid the usual segregation of presentation of letters of promotion to Officers in core Civil Service and those in the Teaching Service Commission.

He enjoined all Workers in the state government service to rededicate themselves to duty to reciprocate the kind gesture of the Akeredolu led administration.

Earlier, in April this year, the Governor approved the promotion exercise for qualified Officers in the State Public Service.

I have just read the press statement credited to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Shehu Malami SAN on the resolution of the Southern Governors Forum to ban open grazing in their respective States. The AGF is quoted to have said that this reasoned decision, among others, is akin to banning all spare parts dealers in the Northern parts of the country and is unconstitutional.

It is most unfortunate that the AGF is unable to distill issues as expected of a Senior Advocate. Nothing can be more disconcerting. This outburst should, ordinarily, not elicit response from reasonable people who know the distinction between a legitimate business that is not in anyway injurious and a certain predilection for anarchy. Clinging to an anachronistic model of animal husbandry, which is evidently injurious to harmonious relationship between the herders and the farmers as well as the local populace, is wicked and arrogant.

Comparing this anachronism, which has led to loss of lives, farmlands and property, and engendered untold hardship on the host communities, with buying and selling of auto parts is not only strange. It, annoyingly, betrays a terrible mindset.

Mr Malami is advised to approach the court to challenge the legality of the Laws of the respective States baning open grazing and decision of the Southern Governor Forum taken in the interest of their people. We shall be most willing to meet him in Court.

The decision to ban open grazing stays. It will be enforced with vigour.

SIGNED

ARAKUNRIN OLUWAROTIMI O AKEREDOLU, SAN
GOVERNOR, ONDO STATE
