Politics / Re: Ex Governor Abubakar Audu Renders Wife And Kids Homeless In Sub-zero Temperature by Omenani(m): 9:04pm On Dec 14, 2010
This is very wicked indeed. How can a man be so wicked? However, the U.S. will not allow this to stand though, if they are his children. Nigerian men need to understand that in the U.S., the Court system will side with the women. He better not have assets in the U.S. or they may be frozen and given to her.

I am also familiar with that area. Most of the Nigerian elite who travel abroad, live in Potomac, Maryland.
Crime / Re: Graphic Video - Punishment For Wearing Trousers In Sudan by Omenani(m): 8:54pm On Dec 14, 2010
The sad fact, that this is based on the outdated Sharia Law that was created during the Middle Ages. The blessed Prophet Mohammed did not preach violence against women, so I do not understand why some Muslim men would do such things.

I beg leave the man alone. Regardless of his sexuality he is very successful. When we start seeing beyond some of these silly things we will see progress. You can't even tell his sexuality coz he acts like a regular dude. The ones I tend to have issues with are freaking queens and sissies like Bkbabe.

That is why I say many our brothers are backwards in their thinking. He is not hurting anyone with his sexual preference. People need to learn how to live and let live. We may not agree with his sexual preference, but that is his choice.

I am a firm believer of the "live & let live" philosophy. My personal views should not matter though.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Breaking News-julian Assange Granted Bail by Omenani(m): 8:04pm On Dec 14, 2010
He was granted bail, but he is still in jail, because Swedish prosecutors are appealing the decision.
Politics / Re: Let's Have A 'social Security Scheme' In Nigeria by Omenani(m): 7:46pm On Dec 14, 2010
Why is everything called a scheme in Nigeria? lol I just have a problem with the word "scheme." Especially as it pertains to Nigeria, because everything seems to be a "scheme."

dexmond:

Our GDP is not big at all. Ghana has a GDP of about $10000, Muarituis $12000, Nigeria about $2000. Pls confirm.

You do not understand economics. Nigeria has the second largest economy in Africa, right after South Africa. And it will surpass South Africa in 10 years.

If you are talking Per Capita, Nigeria still has a higher GDP per capita than Ghana.

Nigeria's GDP: $341.1 billion (2009 est.)
Ghana's GDP: $35.99 billion (2009 est.)

Nigeria's GDP Per Capita: $2,300 (2009 est.)
Ghana's GDP Per Capita: $1,500 (2009 est.)

grin grin grin

The stats speak for itself.

This article was correct on many points. I do feel that many Nigerians suffer from an inferiority complex. This is not only found in Nigeria, but Africa as a whole.

That is why I say, Africans have a lot to learn from Black Americans. They do not suffer from such an inferiority complex compared to most Africans I have encountered. Maybe it was due to their Civil Rights struggle with leaders like the great Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.

Welcomed news!
Politics / Re: When Oil Finishes, What Next? by Omenani(m): 3:55pm On Dec 14, 2010
Igbos do not fear being landlocked.  Some of the wealthiest nations are indeed landlocked as someone has mentioned. Switerland is quite wealthy. Botswana is one of the wealthiest nation per capita in all of Africa and they are landlocked. cheesy Igboland is not too far from the sea though. I don't see how Igboland would be landlocked though, since the people from Cross River and Akwa Ibom would join the Igbo people. They wouldn't join Cameroon, nor would they join the Ijaws. The only alternative is the Igbo who are the lesser of the two evils.
Politics / Re: When Oil Finishes, What Next? by Omenani(m): 7:14am On Dec 14, 2010
The oil in Igboland hasn't been tapped into praise the Lord. And I do not think it will ever be fully tapped into if the Igbo remain in Nigeria. As soon as the oil in Imo and Abia is touched, you better believe the wider Igbo will not allow that to happen.

And why does oil have to finish? Can't Nigeria diversify its industry. I heard that Nigeria has large natural gas reserves. Especially in South-West Nigeria. That will be tapped into next.
Politics / Re: What Can Nigeria Learn From Brazil? by Omenani(m): 6:47am On Dec 14, 2010
DapoBear:

Shouldn't you start things off by saying what you liked from the documentary?

Anyway, for me, I love how Brazil wants to do things themselves. Car manufacturing, aerospace, oil exploration, biosciences, agriculture. . . there is almost nothing that they do not produce. Unlike Nigeria, which imports everything angry

If I am discussing good governance and industrialization, then that is what I liked about the documentary. Am I correct? lol

Did you see the 60 Minutes segment on Brazil? They are building an impressive economy. And their outgoing president, Lula did great things. The fact that he was a socialist and a union leader before he was president is quite impressive as well. He has a 75% approval rating leaving office. This is quite amazing for a head of state. Like he said, it took a socialist to fix Brazil. Maybe Nigeria needs a socialist to fix that country.

DapoBear:

guys, you should be able to tell by now that @fstranger is joking

Who cares if he is joking, the man is disrupting a discussion. Which makes me sick. It is best not to feed the troll. People cannot have good discussions on the Politics section of NL, because of people like him.

strangerf,

You entire being disturbs me. Can you just shut up for once? The smallest people talk the biggest crap. Just shut up and stop being a troll.

American government is corrupt just like Nigeria. They can block extradition of di-ck cheney who commited fraud in Nigeria but they can go after an Assange that didn't commit any crime on their land.Nature will soon set in its equilibrum process;its just a matter of time.

Agreed! There is a lot of corruption in the West and on a much more wider scale, but people always want to discuss corruption in Nigeria and Africa in general. Corruption in Nigeria is just more blatant, because our leaders have not learned how to hide their misdeeds.
Politics / Re: Will You Come Back A Nigerian In Your Second Life? by Omenani(m): 11:13pm On Dec 13, 2010
Why do some Nigerians want patriotism, when there is no sense of nationalism in this country?
Politics / Re: Fg Drops Charges Against Cheney by Omenani(m): 11:11pm On Dec 13, 2010
Why am I not surprised? U.S. pressure? I definitely think so. . .
Politics / What Can Nigeria Learn From Brazil? by Omenani(m): 10:52pm On Dec 13, 2010
I was watching a 60 Minutes special on Brazil last night and I was impressed with that country. In my honest opinion, I feel Nigerians could learn a lot from Brazil in the form of governance and industrilization.

Can you share your thoughts?

Down with shell!

Agreed! I see that corporation as pure evil, even though many of my family members work with Shell.
