with all the stuff you just spewed, you have not provided a single shred of empirical evidence to ascertain your claims, there are no historical records to the best of my knowledge that can say for sure where and how the title "Oba" came from so stop trying.
and by the way, what you are spewing is off topic, open a thread if you feel the need to "enlighten" people as to the origin of the Oba title in Benin kingdom
Omo Ibo, you are obviously not a good comedian. Oba is a Yoruba word and when the royal title called in full in Yoruba, you will still not understand because you are Ibo . So ask your Yoruba friends to educate you and stop asking for silly empirical evidence for a word.Since you are still young, let me educate you on the one you can still grasp, In linguistics, you ask for etymology of a word not empirical evidence for a word.

the problem with your likes are that your people have no history or probably they were too backward to keep records, why hasn't your traveller Ooni refuted the claims as he did upon his appointment, he has obviously been enlightened.
You are clearly incorrigible. Oooni is not a jobless King to be trading words with a junior King like the Oba of Benin. He wont even get busy with motor park fee collection, fining people for burying their father etc. He has replied the late King(father of the current King) who fabricated this lie before he died, you can look it up on Google. In his wisdom as a King who has openly declared that his reign is to unite every Yoruba kings,he said if the Benin royalty don't want to be identified as Yoruba, they can do so and he wont force them but that doesn't change the history that the Benin royalty is Yoruba. I'm sure you are not from the Benin royalty.

Stop disgracing yourself by calling this Oba 'great ',he is yet to achieve anything!! That's not the training ile Ife gives his princes including the Oba of Benin.
The questions you are dodging are quite obvious. You can not accept the fact that no single Ooni's head has been buried in Benin but from time immemorial, the heads of Benin kings are buried in ile Ife because they are Ife princes.
In Yoruba, the meaning of the word Ooni is more superior than the word Oba so get the education so you will stop acting like ipob youths grin
Did you see the Ooni's opa one of the ooni's palace staff held in front of the Ooni at the coronation of the Oba of Benin? It was right in the face of the Oba of Benin, even when the Oba of Benin was sitting down, that Opa was fully erect, right to his face in his palace. It's a sign the ooni used to tell him that his authority is still standing in the oba of Benin palace. The Oba of Benin know this,he dare not challenge it.

stop deceiving yourself oga madam. he don't have to collect the heads because that's not relevant, if they needed it they will take it in a glimpse. talking about power , your oni is nothing, your oni bows to tinubu and his colleague . talking about leaving palace , how come you believe that ? yes he leaves the palace when it matters most but not travel from state to state or pay visit to men in the cities and beyond like oni. stop playing puzzle with history, the more you try to rewrite , the more foolish it looks...Done here .Happy Sunday....

Every past and living Oba of Benin is an ile Ife prince and his remains, particularly, the head, remains the property of Ile Ife

Hahaha. You just contradicted yourself. It is a son who copies the father. Besides, the heads of past Oba of Benin are buried in Ile Ife because all oba of Benin are ile Ife princes, if you're right, it's the heads of past Oduduwa descendants that should be buried in Benin. Meanwhile, get it clear, it's only the Benin royalty that's fully Yoruba.Even that much has been addressed by the Itshekiri Traditional Council. The word Oba is Yoruba, stop fooling around joor wink

Hahaha. You are a clown grin.
If a King should bow for you in Yorubaland, it's a curse. At no time did the Ooni curse Tinubu.
The Ooni's reign brought good tidings to the whole of Yorubaland and new beginning. Last week, the Olubadan went to visit the Alake and he,ooni physically participated in the Ado ekiti festival with the Ewi of Ekiti. The kings who don't see eye to eye before are now collaborating. That's how you know a real king.

With less than 2 weeks on the throne,no legacy or tangible achievement, you are already calling him "Great " grin grin
The foundation of your whole tradition and history is all lies and outright falsehood. That's how you dash people 'great ' in your tradition grin
The royalty in Benin is Yoruba but I am not sure about the proletariat like you .Quite recently, the Itsekiri Traditional Council confirmed it, and no amount of lies can rewrite history. There's no single inconsistencies about how the heads of past oba of Benin heads get buried in Ile Ife-the Kings are Yoruba.
About the Ooni, he has said nothing will stop him from closing the ranks of all Yoruba Kings including the oba of Benin. He is regarded to be a very humble, generous and accommodating King loved, admired and respected by all. He visited the Alaafin of Oyo, who is even more superior to the oba of Benin, the last time an ooni visited an alaafin was 75years ago shocked,he was in Ado ekiti this weekend and few months ago was in America and was recieved and hosted by the US parliamentary. How on earth would you think a King like that will decend low to the status of oba of Benin. Just think.
Finally, you address your King as Oba but denied the fact that the origin of the word 'Oba'is not Benin but Yoruba. Go and ask for the full meaning of Oba in Yoruba.

lmao ,u re pained because the dignitaries present were too much to witness oni presence.. oni is tinubus boy and he's not relevant . if you need books, I can provide you . oni is a son and all Yoruba king ain't nothing to oba of Benin. geraraherre
Hahaha. Tell the Oba of Benin to go to Ile Ife and collect the heads of past Oba of Benin first before I know if the Oba is as powerful as the fake importance you are giving him. The wise Yoruba ancestors knew that a generation of liars will raise up one day in Benin and could shamelessly attempt to rewrite history so decided to insist that the heads Benin obas must always be returned to their home in Ile Ife ,that evidence is still standing today and future generations will see it and know that some crooks want to rewrite history.
And about the Ooni, the joke is on the late Oba of Benin and his son who obviously will believe his father as fathers boy but much pictures like the Oba of Benin flanking past Oonis, the Oba who you lied that he never leaves the palace bowing in handshake to the Queen Elizabeth, history books that far far predates the paden-like book written by the late Oba confirmed how even the appointment of Benin kings must get the ratification of a reigning Ooni and more recent contradictions in ordinary burial rites have confirmed that dubious lies in Benin tradition and history.
Na today grin.
Quite recently, we saw how Prof Paden 'rewrote' history on Osibanjo's recommendation, thank God all the players are still alive.
Ooni just proved to him that he's bigger and more matured. Ooni owns everything including the Oba of Benin and doesn't need to prove anything.
Finally, in Africa, heads of a corpse would be buried in his father's house, the heads of past oba of Benin were buried in their fathers house in Ile Ife.The royalty in Benin is Yoruba while others like you are probably not.

Ooni was just laughing at a small king forming big. The Benin history and traditions is full of lies. Go and tell this epistle to the Judge. I remember that the primary grouse GTB has against Innoson is that Innoson used fake shipping papers to secure billions naira worth loan from it,the bank found this out and held on to the company's money to protect itself against this I. B.O. sense by the one who is not innocent but bear innocent just in name.
Apparently, Innoson is hiding under the technicality that GTB has no legal reasons to hold its money as its bank customer but GTB held stubbornly to that money because that's the only lifeline they have so as not to lose out completely.Innoson wanted to withdraw the money in their account while GTB can keep going to court to get its own money back from a fraudulent customer.
Unfortunately, this long epistle has not addressed this criminal charge.
The beating Innoson will receive is doing press up.Idiotas angry
This is how these fraudulent members of the Nigerian elite kill banks. They are so useless and have no modicum of shame. Somebody forged a document in order to swindle a bank yet it still keeps writing OFR after its name angry.
Did you use fake shipping papers to secure loan from GTB? This is the simple question this useless press release failed miserably to answer. Rather, they are playing to the gallery as if the management and shareholders of GTB are fools.

It's more than apology, people should be sent to jail.
This is how terrorists organizations receive funding and these criminal elements pretend not to know the consequences of their nefarious activities.
The minister should have been picked up since.

Politics / Re: NJC To Investigate Corrupt Judges by onomeasike: 7:41pm On Oct 23, 2016
NJC doesn't have the power to investigate crime and this 'rethink ' is a facesaving measure after the DSS rightly refused to report any Judge who had committed a crime to NJC since NJC can't investigate crime. I think the DSS should beam it's light on the CJN himself because he has been leading the cover up for the corrupt judges. If Goodluck Jonathan could be castigated and cursed for the crimes of his ministers, there's no reason the CJN should not be blamed for the corruption unearthed so far.
The final solution is to review the NJC law.The lawyers in NJC should not be more than 50% while representatives of other stakeholders in the judiciary should be represented, this Paddy paddy by lawyers has to stop!!!

It's either this man has been reading my posts On Nairaland or our minds are sympathetically attuned and harmoniously United. This domination of the judiciary by lawyers is an aberration. The judiciary is an arm of democratic government and it's apex regulatory body should represent all stakeholders. Lawyers from the bench and bar at most, should not constitute more than 50% of its membership so the plurality of stakeholders is not hijacked or criminally replaced by professional comraderie of lawyers.

PT: What about the NJC? Are you also thinking of cleaning up the NJC?
Obono-Obla: Yes. It is one of the defects in the constitution. The defect is that NJC is 80 per cent made up of judges. So the question is – is that not a contradiction? Because this universal principle of justice which is also embedded in our constitution – you cannot be a judge in your own court. You have seen the NJC trying to protect some categories of judges.
Let me give you an instance in the contradiction in the rulings of the NJC of recent. That is the case of Justice Mohammed Tsamiya of the Ilorin Division (of Appeal Court), one of the arrested judges. Somebody lodged a complaint, one Nnamdi Oji, against that judge for collecting bribe and four other members of the Election Petition Tribunal Appeal Panel that sat over election disputes. The NJC found that judge guilty and that he should return the N200 million in instalments.
And the complainant is very angry. He spoke with me on phone. He told me that he is very angry because he lodged a complaint and that he has evidence that all the five judges were involved. He told me that he is ready to appear in any court to testify against those judges. The NJC exonerated three judges and asked Justice Mohammed to pay N200 million he collected as bribe in instalments. They did not say Justice Mohammed should appear before SSS, EFCC or ICPC.
But a Kano State judge who allegedly collected N197 million from somebody, the NJC ruled that he should be dismissed and also lodged a complaint with the Assistant Inspector General of Police for his arrest and prosecution. But in Justice Mohammed’s case they did not say he should be prosecuted but instead he should pay this N200 million in instalments. What kind of justice is that? So you can see clearly that they are trying to protect Justice Mohammed. Maybe the judge in Kano is not a senior judge and is not well connected. They reported him to the police.
That also shows that NJC does not have power over criminal complaints against judges. All judges are screened by SSS and so why are they suggesting that the SSS has no power over judges? Before their appointments they are screened by the SSS. That is the practice which has been going on for the past 30 years in this country. So you can see that NJC is a toothless bulldog. If NJC is up and doing, all the rots we have in the judicial system will not be there.
So because it is made up of 80 per cent judges who want to protect themselves which is also against the principle of fair hearing. You are a judge in your own court. So there should be constitutional reform of the NJC. Maybe we should bring in outsiders that are not necessarily lawyers or judges, men of proven integrity who will judge judges. Judges should not judge themselves. If a member of the executive arm of government commits a crime, it is the judges who judge him and also in the legislature. But the judges don’t want another body to judge them. So there should be constitutional reforms.
