A Federal High Court in Lagos has struck out a N1.86bn suit filed against the founder of the Living Faith Church, a.k.a. Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, by a stock brokerage firm, Valueline Securities and Investment Limited.

Justice Jude Dagat, in a ruling on Friday, described the plaintiffs’ suit as incompetent and dismissed it for want of jurisdiction.

Valueline Securities and Investment Limited and its Managing Director, Samuel Enyinnaya, had in February 2015 sued Oyedepo and his family for an alleged breach of contract in a N9bn stock market deal.

Joined as the 10th defendant in the suit was the Security and Exchange Commission.

The plaintiffs, through their lawyer, Mr. Rickey Tarfa (SAN), sued for the enforcement of their fundamental rights and were claiming a total of N1.86bn from the defendants jointly and severally as professional fees and damages.

The plaintiffs, in their statement of claim, averred that Oyedepo, his family and organisations entered into an Investment Portfolio Management Agreement with them and appointed them as the portfolio managers to oversee and to ensure the profitability of the said investment worth about N9bn in the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

According to the plaintiffs, it was agreed that 2.25 per cent of the net asset value of the portfolio and an annual incentive fee of 10 per cent of the returns on the investment would be paid to the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs said that in order to enhance the profitability of the investment, they obtained some margin loans from some Nigerian banks, which, they claimed, turned out to be a great boost to the investment.

A 23-year-old Nigerian man has been sentenced for stabbing a new father to death in front of his home in Islington, north London, in December last year.

Femi Tinchang Nandap, who had over stayed his student visa pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at the Old Bailey on Monday, October 10th, 2016, following the fatal stabbing of 41-year-old renowned lecturer Jeroen Ensink, who was a lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Nandap was suffering from a cannabis-induced psychosis at the time of the killing, was handed a Hospital Order under Section 37 of the Mental Health Act 1983 at the Old Bailey on Monday, 10 October.

Dr Ensink, who was ecstatic about being a new father, left his home at lunchtime on 29 December 2015 to post a number of cards to friends and family to inform them of the recent birth of his daughter. He had only walked a short distance when he was approached by Nandap, who launched into a vicious attack with a knife.

Police in Charleston, West Virginia, have arrested and charged Benjamin Ryan Taylor, 32, to court after the 10 month old baby of his girlfriend died from head injuries sustained after he allegedly battered and sexually assaulted her in the basement.

The baby, Emmaleigh Barringer, was found by her mother, Amanda, on Monday morning around 5am bleeding in the basement of their home which prompted her to call health authorities and police but despite staying alive on life support for several days, she tragically passed away after being declared brain dead by medical doctors.

Godwin Obaseki, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has claimed that there is a plot by the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to attack his campaign convoy.

The Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano, on Monday, September 19, said if the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is given a chance, a bag of rice will cost only N9000.
