Your antagonizing stance and one sidedness do not portray you as someone that is looking for facts.

For example, you tend to believe the Nigerian Army that has contradicted herself over and over. First, they claimed they were never at the scene. Later, they agreed they were there but never used live bullets. Now, they claimed they shot into the air.

The position of someone looking for facts cannot be this lopsided.

You think you're not one sided when you belive people who claim there was a massacre and shared drama footages, movie pictures and claimed the locations were at Lekki toll gate. They shared traffic accident picture with mutilated bodies and claimed they were shot by soldiers. Tens of protesters claimed a body wrapped in bloody Nigerian flag is their cousin, reality is it was a drama.
Did they all prepare the drama pictures before the military arrived the scene? Or they got it after they were cleared from the toll gate. How do you trust such eye witnesses?

You have not expressed any concern about all these inconsistencies

What evidence again?

The governor confirmed two. Adesola who is the mother of a diseased confirmed 3, the judicial panel confirmed 11.

What crazy evidence do people want again? at this point even if people come out to claim they lost someone as Adesola did you lot will still tell them to prove it.

Only a narrow minded fellow will discredit the fcat that at least 5 people died and that is enough to call it a massacre

Wisdom, Tola, Uche are they names of human or pets? I know every human at least in Nigeria have a surname, family or orphanage where they were raised. Only dogs and cats have no surname.

What type of injury did this wisdom and Tola have? Which type of gun fired the bullets if they had such injury? How do we know they didn't get killed when they were storming police station at Orile or Ajangbadi when they went to kill policemen, steal police uniforms and guns?

Who killed the 35 policemen who lost their lives in Lagos? The panel report did not list a single policeman who was injured or killed and deserved compensation. Is that not part of their terms of reference? What of the looting and arson of homes that has altered some lives permanently? Is that panel report really reliable? I think not, it was a dishonest attempt to assert what it cant prove

Now it is confirmed that you guys don't ever read to comprehend. Please calm down and read the definition of massacre and killing in that context.

As long as the death happened whether as a result of direct shooting or as a result of the ripple effect,it is still attributed to the action that led to it.

This where you miss the road.
The investigation of incident at Lekki toll gate was trying to establish is soldiers shot live bullets as claimed by protester or blanks as the army claimed.

There was a subsisting govt order of curfew and anyone remaining outside was a threat to public peace. If no laws prevents soldiers from being deployed to restore order you can't hold them responsible for injuries sustained while fleeing such as vehicle accident, fall from height, being trampled by crowd or shooting by armed gangs who displayed guns during the protest.

When law and order breaks down, any adult should know your safest place should be in your home not on the streets

If i had concluded there was no massacre i guess you will be happy cos it suits your narrative.

People with a closed mind will never read and comprehend but they read to respond with what they have in their closed mind.

No doubt that at least 5 people died from the lekki tollgate shooting and if your governor can confirm two and a mother confirmed 3 i believe that is more than enough.

If you can't see this point then believe whatever you want.

Even the one the claimed mother had iron bar sticking out if his eye is also a killing by military assault rifle?
Adding this to your tally shows the story is not reliable neither is your count.

You enjoyed this cheap tuition back then, now you r blackmailing citizens for still complaining about the cheap tuition?
During ur days, the tuition wasn't even important, once you have your admission sorted out, you can go through school till ur finals without paying any kobo, cos they know before u r enlisted for service you have to clear yourself before u can proceed.
Its so appalling when i see people complain about things they benefiited from and try to cajole the govt to fix the standard they once enjoyed.
For your info, Nigerian tertiary institutions isnt cheap, if u compare our per capita income to what we pay as tuition with canada, US and other first world countries then you will know we r being ripped too much by our administrators.

In those times, about 120,000 people apply for the few available university slots, at the most 30-40% get admission. Now over 1.2m apply and up to 120,000 gain admission.

Has the number of universities increased by ten fold? And has govt income increased by 10 fold to expect govt to continue to shoulder the cost of subsidy?

What happens in 10 years when the cost of subsidy goes up another 5 or 10 times ? What happens?

Tertiary education in Nigeria isn't cheap? I want to belive youre only kidding

False, max you take qualifying exam of a year or two before you can practice.

Why are they not taking their own untrained citizens, give them 2 years qualifying training and turn them to doctors? If you think the 6 years of subsidized medical training you got here is trash.

NIGERIA: A COUNTRY OF CHEAP TERTIARY EDUCATION

I was surprised when my claim that Nigeria offers one of the cheapest tertiary education in the world was met with disdain. What worried me most was the fact that the disdain came from people who enjoyed and still enjoying the highly subsidized tertiary education.

Some people who agreed were quick to label the Education substandard just to ridicule the country. No matter what we feel about the country, the fact that we all enjoyed cheap tertiary education can not be controverted. The fact speaks for itself.

I gained admission to the then Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti in 1996/97 session. My tuition fee was N5,150. It was one of the most expensive in the country then. I paid N4,850, N4,350 and N3,850 in second, third and final year respectively.

I paid a total of N18,200 in 4 years for a University degree.

At that time, my counterparts in Obafemi Awolowo University were paying N500 as tuition. You heard me right, five hundred naira. This token gave them access to the university health care as well as the library. N90 (Ninety Naira) was their hostel fees for a session. My mates got a University degree from OAU Ife with less than N4,000 . It may interest you to know that medical students in the school paid the same ridiculous amount .

This is not a story of Lord Lugard Era. A Youth Corper allowee at that time was N3,750. Which means, a corper can sponsor someone in the University without blinking an eyelid .

By the time I started my youth service in 2002, a youth corper allowee has been increased to N7,500. This means that my 3 months corper allowee was by far higher than what I paid in 4 years as school fees in a state university.

We are quick to compare Nigeria with the US, Canada, UK and other "saner climes". Someone even said Nigeria does not have students loan. The loan system was instituted in these countries because an average citizen can not afford tertiary education. It may interest you to know that Obama was already the President before he finished paying his student loan. I don't think any bank will give you a loan to pay the ridiculous amount we pay as fees in Nigerian Universities. Till date the average tuition in public universities in Nigeria is N50,000.

Nigeria, arguably, has the highest number of University graduates per square kilometre in the world . Thanks to the highly subsidized education we all enjoyed.

In saner climes, no middle income earner can sponsor a child in the University without resorting to loans that will take the student years to clear. You need as high as $80,000 to study medicine and $60,000 to study law. This did not include hostel accommodation. You will pay as high as $14,000 per session for hostel accommodation. I am using Canada as a case study. Note that education is cheaper in Canada than US . A middle income earner in Nigeria will sponsor a child in a public university without any problem. Infact, a youth corper can afford to send his sibling to a university and afford the fees.

As per the quality, UK has poached 7,000 Nurses from Nigeria within the last 12 months. Saudi Arabia, Canada and UK are scrambling to poach all our Doctors that were trained cheaply by our Government. I don't think these countries will come to pack our "low quality" graduates to fill their " high quality" health institutions.

We believe it is low quality because we got it cheaply. Skilled workers trained by our universities are currently running the show in Canada, UK and US.

I was present in a forum where Mr Babalola, a leading immigration lawyer in Toronto, was delivering a paper. The first thing he did was to thank Nigeria for the cheap education given to him. Babalola studied law at the University of Ibadan. He knew he would have paid through his nose to get a Law degree in Canada.

I deliberately posted this tertiary education claim on our independence day because some people said there is nothing to celebrate in Nigeria. If an ungrateful person gets to Paradise, he will find nothing to celebrate there. It is simply a matter of perspective. You don't value what you have until you lose it.

No country is completely good or completely bad. It depends on what you want to see. I have met Canadians who did not see anything good in their country. Someone said good people will always see the good in people. In the same vein, I believe good citizens will always see the good in their country.

In reality that investment is paying off in the number of highly trained Nigerian professionals working at home and abroad. I'm sure up to 70-80% of Nigerians in diaspora used certificate obtained in Nigeria as building block or foundation to water degrees they got abroad that has made them the most successfully migrant group in the USA. The returns is in the value of remittance they send to their families not to the government but the advantage is in passing so much forex through the economy. Already this remittance rivals oil forex earnings.

What I see lacking is inadequate focus and strategy on the value of acquisition of knowledge to solve local problems.

For example we have a problem of local productivity challenge in real sector, in agriculture, manufacturing and mining. We need to incentivise studies in those areas, bring in foreign knowledge working side by side with local talents. We should be willing to bring back diaspora nigerians and pay them as we would foreign experts.

I have met PTDF graduates trained in foreign countries in specialized knowledge but were abandoned on return with no job or attachment to any company that needs the knowledge.

And the PTDF staff were more interested in the next batch of trainees that they would visit regularly to collect estacode, than worry about the fate of graduates.

We need a new strategy for our investment in education. Overall I think it's a positive that tertiary education is made available to broader section of Nigerians as it has helped to improve social mobility than any other investment

Great and sincere leadership at all levels can do wonders for us, but people like this make it almost impossible to get leaders that will tackle the issues.

These are the ones that would never vote outside their tribe, even if their tribe presents the devil and the other tribe presents an Angel capable of making the society great and uplifting their lives in the process.

It’s already 2021!!! If we were still in 1950 or so, maybe I could understand, but now we have electric cars, the internet, smartphones, people going to space, movies with mind blowing budgets like the Avengers... yet, it seems Nigeria is halted even while having access to all these things.

Politics / Re: When Is Tinubu Leading A Protest Against Subsidy Removal? by Ovamboland(m): 4:33pm On Dec 04, 2021
Penguin2:
On Monday 2, 2012, Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his minions led a protest christened Occupy Nigeria against the removal of subsidy by then President Goodluck Jonathan.

Then, fuel was to cost 140 naira per litre as a result of the subsidy removal. And the government in power then introduced what it called Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (SURE-P). The program was going to ensure the rolling out of govt sponsored transport vehicles that run cheaper than others. Another thing the program was to do was to introduce a scheme that would empower youths with startup capital (not 5k chewing gum money) through a merit pool. But the protest scuttled this wonderful policy and ensured that we will continue with the evil of subsidy until a later date when we will still bear the brunt.

Now, the govt of Muhammad Buhari, who himself once denied the existence of fuel subsidy, is planning to finally remove fuel subsidy by February 2022 with fuel projected to sell for 340 naira or more. That’s more than double what it would have cost in 2012. As palliative, govt is planning to pay 5000 naira to 40 million Nigerians( a joke and ridicule of what SURE-P would have been).

The big question that every sincere Nigerian is asking is, “where are those who led Occupy Nigeria in 2012?” What is their reaction to the planned subsidy removal? When are they occupying Nigeria again? What has changed?

You see? Fuel subsidy has always been a problem; from its management to the fact that it’s eating up govt finances that should have been used for other capital projects. Reputable financial institutions from World Bank to IMF and renowned economists have consistently called for its removal and Tinubu knows this but chose to play dangerous and unpatriotic politics about it in 2012 all for his egotistic and selfish interest.

If the removal had been allowed to succeed in 2012, by now Nigerians would have adjusted accordingly but we here today because of Tinubu and his minions.

So back to my question, what is Tinubu’s reaction to planned subsidy removal and when is he leading a protest against it?

Jonathan's government was not investing massively in infrastructure, neither in industry, oil and gas(no new FPSO or LNG plant).
Our funds were ending up as diamond bra, luxury yacht, Miami penthouse by Aluko and Jude Omokhore Diezani boys.

Who will want them to have more money to loot?

Politics / Re: How Buhari And His Men Are Calculating Against Ohaneze Over Nnamdi Kanu by Ovamboland(m): 9:42pm On Dec 03, 2021
xborr:
HOW BUHARI AND HIS MEN ARE CALCULATING AGAINST OHANEZE OVER NNAMDI KANU
(By Emeka Ugwuonye, Esquire)
Movement for peaceful change (MPC)

The best person to effectively represent Nnamdi Kanu's interest is an intelligent and experienced lawyer who has a clear picture of the direction of his case. Nnamdi Kanu doesn’t have that caliber of lawyer in the person of Barrister Ejiofor.

The absence of a competent lawyer as leader of Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team led to the situation where Ohaneze is playing such a prominent role in a criminal case pending in court. Can you imagine that? This is a criminal trial for goodness sake. The Government wants to use the criminal justice to achieve its objective. That is quite evident, and I will show you how I came to that conclusion. On the other hand, either by design or because of the absence of a good defense lawyer, Ohaneze is using political approach to achieve its desired outcome.

So, you can see the gap in the strategies. Government (the custodian of politics) is using the courts while Ohaneze is using politics to resolve the Kanu challenge. And when Ohaneze met President Buhari and presented its political option, President Buhari quickly went back to his court option. That was why the President wrongly claimed that the matter is before the courts and that he might lack the power to intervene. That position is really wrong because the President, through his Attorney General, has all the powers to terminate the prosecution and have the charges dismissed. But because the President had calculated that the judicial option was more in his interest, he pretended to lack the ability to abort the judicial option in preference for the political option proposed by Ohaneze.

To show that the President has entrenched interest in the judicial option, two key figures in his government have come out recently to suggest that the President lacks the power to get Nnamdi Kanu released without completing the trial. Festus Keyamo repeated the pretentious position that the President lacks the power to end the trial. And today, Malami, the Attorney General, repeated the same position by suggesting that discussions of release of Nnamdi Kanu are premature because Nnamdi Kanu is still standing trial. In other words, Malami wants the trial to be completed before pardon could be discussed. He wants Nnamdi Kanu to be convicted and sentenced to death or life before he could be granted pardon and then released. Ironically, Malami can end trial with only two paragraphs of written statement entering nolli prosecue in the case.

The funny thing is that my Ohaneze brothers may think they are smart, and that they are making progress over Nnamdi Kanu’s case, when, in fact, they are complicating matters. Ohaneze’s moves may actually turn out against Nnamdi Kanu. They are pleading for forgiveness, which is an admission that Nnamdi Kanu committed the offences. The leader of Ohaneze delegation was quoted to be assuring Buhari that: “I know how to control him. If you release him to me, I will get him to stop saying those things he was saying”. In other words, he admitted that Nnamdi Kanu was inciting violence and preaching ethnic hatred, but that he would stop him from continuing to commit those offences. The Nigerian Government is yet to prove in court that it was indeed Nnamdi Kanu that was making those broadcasts. But our Ohaneze elders already admitted that fact, thus providing for the state the evidence they may actually not have at trial.

If Nnamdi Kanu had a good lawyer, he would have made some critical advances in the case and would have advised Ohaneze to sit back and watch for the time being. Instead, because there is no good lawyer for Nnamdi Kanu, Ohaneze is so confused. The Ohaneze members don’t know how to approach this case. They come in as observers of the trial (and get denied entry to the courtroom – they monitor the trial from the corridors and the parking lot) and they came as delegates to the President to ask for amnesty, but end up admitting to the offences charged. It is clear that Ohaneze is at a loss. The President is far more calculated and is ahead of them in strategy and thinking. President will listen to the advice of his Attorney General before deciding how to respond to the Ohaneze people. And the Attorney General will tell the President that the discussions with Ohaneze is premature, that he should wait until Kanu is convicted.

At the present pace of progress in the trial, the trial will not be completed in the next three years. But also, the trial can be sped up if Nnamdi pleads guilty to some of the charges, by way of a plea-bargain. In other words, the Government will ask Nnamdi to plead guilty to some of the charges in order for the government to drop the other charges and he will be sentenced to time already served in detention. The guilty plea will effectively disqualify Nnamdi Kanu from holding a political office in the future, unless pardoned. So, this is quite complicated and too advanced for Nnamdi Kanu’s current lead counsel. He is actually a lame duck and unable to even comprehend what is happening.

My advice to the Igbos is this: Do not underestimate the President and his men. They seem to have a game plan. The Nigerian agents that brought Nnamdi Kanu to Nigeria could have killed him in Kenya if that was what they wanted. But no! They had a plan and their plan is intended to play out through the court. Be careful and smart as you deal with the Government. They are not as stupid as they appear clumsy. They have a game plan to permanently suppress this Biafran agitation using Nnamdi Kanu’s case.

You and Ohaneze have proven that Kanu is on political errand for Ibos to get the presidency. All the Biafra agitation is a fraud.

Fear catch you no be so.Nigeria should grant Igbos autonomy so we can cash out and increase our IGR.I must send this phrophosal to muhammadu buhari.
We dont need to borrow from china ever again.
Imagine 20 million igbos pay visa fees for Nigeria that is an average of 11-15 trillion per year for Nijeria.

You are too wicked, they will learn to stay in their potopoto area and develop it.

Where will they see 15 trillion when all they can give their state govt is 50bn a year.

They say those that can raise 50b, 150bn or 600bn IGR to run their state can't run the country, they are offering us those who are scraping 12bn or 15bn in a whole year are what we need.
