Politics / Re: FEC Approves N13.9billion Contract For Bayelsa Airport! by ow11(m): 12:58pm On Nov 22, 2012 |
billante: Some corrections and clarifications to die hard critics! Why are high speed train - tracks more difficult for these fraudsters to build? Lagos to Abuja would take under three hours. A lot safer than flying. Yenagoa to PHC would be under 45 mins. The PHC airport can even be a train station. Why on earth is this worse than building 36 'airports' with no proper ventilation and spending three hours preparing for a 50 min flight? Ofcourse carbon foot print is a concept that exists in hollywood for people like you 4 Likes |
Politics / Re: FEC Approves N13.9billion Contract For Bayelsa Airport! by ow11(m): 12:50pm On Nov 22, 2012 |
Twy: Why don't they just build an airfield where small planes from Port Harcourt or Asaba can land. The oil/gas industry already contracts a lot of these type of planes and helicopters so I don't think there is any major inconvenience. You just need a small terminal, lights and barb wire fence. That is exactly what they will build with N13b! Then years later another fraudster will remodel the 'airport' to the original 'masterplan' and another till inifinity and beyond. #basketcase |

@OLAADEGBU I like the cartoon in your pay off. . . How is it that you support vengenace and retaliation which is the exact opposite of the 'turn the other cheek' advice given by Jesus? Even if Hamas is the agressor shouldn't christians support and encourage the Israelis to follow the words of Jesus and not egg them on as they obey Moses' an eye for an eye? I want to understand why you feel comfortable clearly ignoring this advice from Jesus |

Yeah I agree with styno. . . CPC should task all service providers (whether TV, mobile, NEPA etc) to make customer service numbers free. . . |
TV/Movies / Re: CPC Wants Pay-as-you-go Subscription For DSTV Consumers by ow11(m): 3:53pm On Nov 20, 2012 |
Okija_juju: Simple! They charge SS3 and SS7 at 4k. Add Big brother and Mnet and you are getting close to paying for the premium bouquet. This will make people pay for premium bouquet OR a better pricing regime would be 1. Have certain channels as base then charge say 4k for sports bouquet, 3k for knowledge bouquet and so on. This means those people that like sports but hate big brother, africa magic and music channels can pay for base price of 1.5k and an extra 4k for the remaining sports chanels. This will increase subscription for DSTV and reduce monthly spend for customers. 2. Religious people can pay for base 1.5k and the christian bouquet for an extra 1k. The base alone would have those crappy Nigerian channels and maybe CNN, Food channel and the likes. These two broad options are plausible 1 Like |
TV/Movies / Re: CPC Wants Pay-as-you-go Subscription For DSTV Consumers by ow11(m): 3:27pm On Nov 20, 2012 |
For me, the only option I want DSTV to bring in is the pay for channels. They can put a price on all the channels they have. So the option exists for you to even pick three channels and pay for those only. They can price it in such a way that picking over 15 channels would cost more than the premium bouquet. This can make football lovers pay for SS3 and SS7 only whilst housewives can pay for africa magic alone and so on. Regarding their loss of signals, I wonder how they would determine who lost signal. What if it rains when you travelled or NEPA struck? They should just put that caveat in the agreement. Even Sky in the UK scrambles in the slightest wind. DSTV has quality programmes and can compete with any pay TV anywhere in the world. For those whinners, CTL aka Trend TV started pay as you go TV. Why didn't you patronise them till they discontinued that nonsense? 1 Like |

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Issues In Dangote’s Graduate Drivers Scheme By Jarus by ow11(m): 6:40pm On Oct 02, 2012 |
Our misplaced ego tripping. An Electrical Engrg graduate would rather work in a bank(12hrs a day, 6 days a week) and earn 50K than work as a truck electronics repairman/driver for Dangote trucks for more. OR better still do a 6 month apprenticeship and start life as a refined electrician. I wonder how much they think artisans earn? |

Career / Re: 21 Ways Rich People Think Differently From Ordinary People by ow11(m): 10:44am On Sep 06, 2012 |
@OP Even if we all agree that acquiring riches and wealth is bad for majority of the population, those ideals do not talk about the truth that most rich people and countries lie and plunder their way to wealth. Even the geeks (Gates, Zuckerberg and Jobs) have bent the rules and run foul of the moral code of their environment to get to where they are. Nigerians already know these things and the gutless losers who applaud these self help guides only do so to feel better that the main reason why they are not rich is because they haven't applied some sensible/quick fix guide to wealth. That said, I think socialist ideals are a better cure to this rat race to acquire OR maybe we should just make up new moral codes and like one of the rules 'MAKE SELFISHNESS A VIRTUE'. |

Politics / Re: Oil Discovered In Sokoto State by ow11(m): 1:56pm On Aug 27, 2012 |
geosegun: Whilst we are still dealing with the intial faux-pas, 1. Your article still did not mention anywhere that the Mamu formation maybe Tertiary. I still inist that that is wrong because the Ajali sanstone is younger than the Mamu fm and is also not thought to be tertiary anywhere. The Tertiary Coal Measures of the Nsukka Fm (Actually the coal measures are Cretaceous but the marine units with the limestone is Danian) do not exist in Enugu. 2. Now I applied deductions to your post. So I rephrase my question again, what has orogeny got to do with generation of oil or gas since you wrote in your post that The coal in the Enugu is just of tertiary period (it has not been subjected to any deformation-Orogeny . Hence the best you can get from it is probably gas. Did you mean that because the coal hasn't been subjected to orogeny that means it can yield gas? OR once coal has been subjected to orogeny it can't yield anything anymore? Furthermore, hypotheses are unproven explanations based upon certain observations. One cannot make a wild claim and hide under the word 'hypothesis'. It has to have some form of evidence that led to the initial conclusion of results. That said we have diverted this thread from the main gist. My deductions regarding the Sokoto basin find is that this 'find' is most probably a lie. If the accumulation is commercial, figures would be attached to the news brief as well as possible locations of the find. If this is to tell us that exploration efforts have begun there, then let us wait and see. I would not be surprised if something is found but I would be stunned if it is anything remotely close to what we have in the delta. |

geosegun: The coal in the Enugu is just of tertiary period (it has not been subjected to any deformation-Orogeny . Hence the best you can get from it is probably gas. 1. So can you explain how the process of orogeny produce oil from coal? I believe you have alluded from your post that coal that has not undergone orogeny produces gas. 2. Can you point me to articles proving that the Coal Measures in Enugu could be of Lower Tertiary age? |
Religion / Re: Dr Olukoya Of Mfm Place Embargo On Wearing Of Trouser By Female To Church by ow11(m): 11:16am On Aug 26, 2012 |
MacDaddy01: Nigeria does have a secular government as we are not governed by strict laws from the Koran or Bible. Religion is NOT the only factor that yields to progress. Much of Europe was ruled by the church when breakthroughs were happening in Science and Technology. The fact that many countries in Europe at the time were Religious did not stop the advancement. These countries have moved on and now operate a secular government but the truth is the advancements were done when many of the country folk were fiercely religious and said countries even ruled by religious tenets. Atheism is not the panacea for development neither is religion. If you say atheism is a factor then you commit the same crime that you accuse religious people of. The atheist population has only increased with increased knowledge because I do not for one second believe that the proportion of athiests to the population has been stable since the middle ages in Europe or has reduced with increased knowledge. I repeat, Even If we all throw away our bibles and korans, Nigeria would still be an underdeveloped sh*thole! Your conclusion is based upon a very small variable from which you have hastily reached a conclusion. If you add more variables to the reason why Nigeria, DR Congo, Iran etc are underdeveloped, you would come to a different conclusion. Back to the topic at hand, There are many churches on earth today and no one has compulsory attendance. If the MFM guy believes he can not operate where women wear trousers, then women who do not mind wearing trousers should stay away from his church. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to faith. |
Politics / Re: Oil Discovered In Sokoto State by ow11(m): 9:06am On Aug 26, 2012 |
geosegun: I Like your confidence!! However, you have made some corrections which is the goal of my initial comment. geosegun: 1. Coal [b]DOES NOT form diamonds! Diamonds are thought to form at the asthenosphere. 2. The coal in Enugu belongs to the Mamu Formation (Campanian to Early Maastrichtian age). The Campanian is a stage in the Upper Cretaceous NOT Tertiary as you are suggesting. No Danian fossils have been found in and around the coal measures in Enugu. 3. Structural deformation have occured within and after the Tertiary period in the Anambra basin which explains the presence of faulting and fractures in the Enugu area. Orogeny is a type of structural deformation particularly linked with building of highlands which is NOT in anyway responsible for the production of gas from coal. 4. Simple subsidence is responsible for the maturation of coal to yield gas within the Anambra basin. |

^^^ So you are equating Religion to development? How about the US, Brazil, Qatar and Ireland? Development has nothing to do with religion. There are so many factors involved. Even if Nigerians stop becoming religious today, they would still be close minded! Religion can be a force for good or evil just like the Dynamite! |

@OP It boggles the mind why you decided to marry if for some reason you would rather have a 'romantic' man (whatever that means) as a husband. That said, I would urge you to refrain from subtly believing what your friends tell you about their man's actions towards them and adore the things that make your fiance a lovely man which at some point you thought was good enough to be your husband. Not everyone gets everything they want no matter how hard they try. Thousands of spinsters in many churches would love to be with an unromantic man than their empty flat. Even if he hits his head and becomes 'romantic' tomorrow, what would you now need since ALL humans are insatiable? |
Travel / Re: What Are The Most RACIST Countries? by ow11(m): 4:06pm On Aug 22, 2012 |
Nigerians can be racist to other Nigerians since Hausa, Fulani and even Shua Arab Nigerians are spoken to/about in deorgatory terms by 'Bantu-looking' Southern Nigerians. Also, These Northern Nigerians have killed and maimed Southern Nigerians. There aren't three races in the world and it is not one black race. Those who choose to disagree should tell me the English/Irish, Polish/Russian or even German/Jewish hate isn't classed as racism. That said, Former Soviet states, Israel and some African countries would get my vote. No country in the world can be said to not have racists but some countries have a lot of social orientation to do to bring prejudice down |

^^^ In simple terms, choose the sex you want to be and shag the opposite sex. If you can't choose which is possible due to the sort of hormones flowing through your system, then shag whom you please but as a christian, you are expected to shag in a marriage and thus you either have to marry a hermphrodite to switch places or marry someone who is willing to play both roles with you. . . |
Politics / Re: FRSC Acquires Equipment To Check Over-Speeding by ow11(m): 11:09am On Jul 18, 2012 |
Great move. . With the success in making Nigerians wear seat belts as a habit, I hope they succeed in making Nigerians drive sanely especially on our highways. We love to curse and blame bad roads but I do not think dodging a pothole at 60kph is as dangerous as doing same at 140kph. . .Whilst we wait on our inept FG to fix our roads, Nigerians need to stop praying for journey mercies and stay under 100kph! I await when breathylsers will become the norm and drunken eediots a la 'I too much, na only 2 bottles I take' get caught out and punished severely on our roads at night. The unnecessary loss of limbs caused by m0ronic night revelers on wheels is sickening. It is utter fooolishness to drive on our notorious roads at speeds over 100kph and many educated Nigerians who should know better do this repeatedly and when an accident occurs, they are quick to blame everything and everyone from FG to FRSC and not themselves for stamping too hard on the gas pedal. |
Religion / Re: Homosexualism As An Hermaphrodite by ow11(m): 6:20pm On Jul 15, 2012 |
^^^^ you have neither discussed nor provided an answer to the OP's distress. If you get an affirmative answer, would that make you tackle the question? OR seek means to ridicule the OP. @OP The hermaphrodite should sleep with/marry from either sex provided there is an attraction or genuine love. If we are to believe the bible, God created everything and that includes the hermaphrodite. It is rare but real and they should not be denied the security of a loving relationship because of a biological anomaly. Said hermaphrodite can opt to choose a gender or even remain genderless and be referred to as 'It'. It really doesn't matter what others think. |

I'm even more confused. This report seems to put the cause down to a combo of bad luck/Engine (mechanical) failure. The maintenance guys have to take the blame here for not noticing the engines were on their last legs. Except this report is heavily embellished which is not impossible. . . I concur, what gives? |
