For non-essential travels like tourists and short-term visits
Adisa471:
Guys.... It seems Covid vaccine is now a requirement for travel to Germany now. If you haven't, quickly go and get now before it's too late. Note for Nigeria's vaccine, you need to take two doses 14 days before your travel. And each dose has about 8weeks interval.

Can you put a resumption date that’s different from the one on your visa letter when booking appointment?
Travel / Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by oxyba: 12:22am On Jul 16, 2021
Nope, Your CGPA is not too low

You just have to put in work on your Motivation letter and your CV
TOEFLS don’t necessarily boost academic grades it’s just a test to know if you can write and speak enough English for a program and unless you have written or feel like you need it for other applications, a good substitute is requesting for English proficiency cert from where you did your Bachelor’s
3.26 is above average CGPA, convince them enough with the other requirements if any
Prettyijee:
Hello everyone, I have a cgpa of 3.26/5.0 and I plan on applying to the masters program in International security management at the Berlin school of economics and law, please is my grade too low? Can Toefl boost my grade?

Means He or She booked your appointment under CAT A, last I checked the embassy does not allocate Category , you register under the relevant category and for CAT A you’d have to show one that you qualify with one of the requirements
Mbee8187:

The admission agent that was helping me with this process canceled my application on the 1st of April and reapplied. Supposedly, I should be in Cat. B. However, I received an appointment date from the embassy slated for the 21st of April and was automatically in Cat. A!. Although it was not needed, because I had already traveled to another country.

I don’t know if it’s out of love solely for Economics that you want to switch but I will also hint that you look into Business Admin/management or finance programs too but of course it’s up to you and what you really want to do
Christiano01:

Please can I use 100 level transcripts from 2017 to applications for admission this year or next year?

And does the course have to be related. I'm studying law but want to go for Economics.
Travel / Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by oxyba: 10:59am On Jul 07, 2021
Also I want to know if the date you input during booking matters

For example, if your school resumes September 3 but their visa letter states the date and that you can join anytime after that though
So you put your likely resumption date as September 23, will embassy ask questions
Travel / Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by oxyba: 10:53am On Jul 07, 2021
Yes, I think the person qualifies still but what I don’t know and want to is if the person have to still block account or block an amount that completes adds up to the required amout
TJ10:
"holding a scholarship financed from German public funds or European supported funds for a study or a PhD in Germany or"

If someone is awarded a scholarship and the scholarship fulfils this requirement but doesn't cover the entire blocked amount, does the person still qualify for category A ?

If he got a scholarship from DAAD or other scholarships that is sponsored by a european or German public fund then Category A, if not then Cat B
GeepyEnsemble:

They are actually
Germany has more than 7 consulates in India and I checked yesterday no slots available for booking

Moreover India has a better relationship with Germany, most of their medical drugs ingredient are gotten from India , it’s all about diplomatic relationship

Yup, US has that reputation, they are making much money from visitors visa category, they will give you the blue slip and your money is gone
dobeespen:
I would have accepted the high population argument, but Indian students are all over Germany. They come in large numbers and are not facing harsh requirements like us.

While it’s a feasible argument, I think it’s more probable because of what I said earlier.

I was just gonna say that I’ll take Germany over the US any day. US will take your money 5/6 times and still reject you. Lol.

Make God help us all, the situation is sad
Travel / Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by oxyba: 11:11am On Jul 01, 2021
We have a high population of youth looking to migrate and tuition is free in public unis in the country, it’s not hard to see why they are doing like this
Forget all these all other excuses, they don’t want their country to become Nigerian extension and if you check well Germany acceptance rate is high if you fulfill all requirements you’re likely to get Visa unlike some countries that will collect your money and still reject high number of people
I see it as, they rather not give out dates than give out dates collect money and reject the person even when they fulfill requirements

You’re comparing with Benin republic where the population is like 12 million, and some of these African countries their citizens are not as desperate to migrate like Nigerians where japa feels like our mantra
dobeespen:
You heard very well. The stats are not in our favour. To people who are frothing at the mouth, it’s okay lol. I understand that it may not be easy to accept but it’s the bitter truth.

Ask yourself why it’s so much easier for even Citizens of Benin Republic to get German visas, and they’ve put almost impossible criteria for Nigerians to get in. When I first got to Germany and worked with other Africans, I was shocked at the ease with which they got their student visas (except Cameroonians sha, lol). After us, Cameroonians follow join. They’ve also made student visas extremely hard for Cameroonians and I think have banned SLs too, except you can prove a familial relationship.

The only government you can demand quality education from is the Nigerian government. Protesting will most definitely get you nowhere. In 2017, with shortness of visa dates, people “protested” as well and what did the German government do? Diddly squat.

The truth is that most Nigerians do not finish in the allotted time and tend to think that working odd jobs for 1k5 or 2k Euros is worth delaying graduation significantly. Either that, or they become masters of masters (lol), going from degree to degree, because they failed to get the adequate work experience needed when they were studying.

The only advise I would give to everyone here is to pray and hope everything works in your favour, and be determined to change the narrative if/when you arrive.

But you’re making assumptions too that it’s due to the behavior of some Nigerians. if not point me to the stats to back up your claim or an official statement from a German public agency or official undecided

My theory?
We have terrible diplomats who barely care about the advancement of their citizenry

It’s only when you get public officials who care about your welfare that will be willing to negotiate and prioritize your plights in diplomatic meetings
TJ10:
There are more Indians than Nigerians in Germany. There are far more students who apply to Germany schools from India and probably Turkey, but I doubt if they are told due to "alot of applications" they will have to wait for almost a year to get an appointment (either pre or post covid time).

Also there are far far more students who apply to USA than Germany from Nigeria and there is no issue of "estimated time to get appointment is one year" because of "alot of applications" (either pre or post covid time)

What exactly is the issue with student getting appointment dates for student visa with the German Consulate in Lagos?

Does CAT A wait for the complete 2 months or AD typically comes before then ?
Travel / Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by oxyba: 8:58pm On Jun 24, 2021
I think what matters is the date written on your cert

First class in Bsc having date 2018 but convocation (year issued) was in 2019, does that qualify for category A?

You apply for it Via the school website, most public and some private schools offer it and generally there's no restriction (that means international student who are admitted can apply for it)
Look for it under scholarship and financing, if it's tough you just use keywords on the website search bar

How can one apply for the scholarship, navigate the website didn't see how to apply

Apply for the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship in your school, hopefully it gets awarded on time and puts you in category A, you can book your appointment now under category B which AD is tough getting but don't lose faith
EmmanuelCena:
Hello fam.
I only got the chance to go through the about 15 pages on the thread.

Please what are the chances of getting appointment for visa interview? Going by info here, the chances are very slim

I got admitted to Start Msc studies in University of Duisburg Essen. Classes start in October. It was a Winter application.
Bsc was a 2:1

How do I go about the visa application also ?

How long did you have to wait from reg date to AD date for category A?
Hillz31:

Otherwise means if you don’t have the permanent resident permit for benin republic, don’t bother booking appointment with them…

U will get the appointment but the first thing they request is the permanent resident permit….

Permanent not temporal oo…

This was my experience in 2020 before finally came back to Nigeria and got shifted to category A

Any Category A applicant here that got AD recently.
please how long did it take from booking to getting Appointment Date
Travel / Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by oxyba: 8:45pm On Jun 14, 2021
Do you apply for the 'Deutschlandstipendium'?. It is German Government funded scholarship (more like 300 euros monthly as stipend), I think most german universities if not all participate in this.
Once your admission place is confirmed you can apply, don't know how long it takes before the awarding takes place and each school have their different criteria but if gotten it places the person in Category A I guess. Right?

1. Does anyone know when the german visa application is closing for the year
2. Does anyone know if the DAAD stibent program scholarship is enough to put you on Category A
3. Does the original formal obligations apply to masters applicant & does the guarantor have to be a permanent resident (in this case the guarantor is working and living there for more than 3 years but yet to get PR)
