Okocha and Kanu of course!. Even my chinese friends sabi them. I never knew how famous these guys are until I left naija. Of course, when u meet people from Uganda, Ghana, S/A and the rest, they'll ask you about Nollywood stars, But forget! Europeans, Americans and Asians (whether sport fanatics or not) know that Kanu and Okocha are the most famous Nigerians. , and if you happen to meet someone working in the Oil sector, they will ask u abt the kidnapping in Niger-Delta cheesy!.

Guys for those interested, there's an analyst report on the ongoing UBA PO @ www.proshareng.com. It may be of help in making an informed decision on whether to buy the shares or not.

@fbajomo, I fully respect your opinion. Your analysis is good as well.

Regards!

@ fbajomo what if wema goes down to 2.5N? smiley. That is the thinking we investors never want to entertain. But believe you me! it happens, and it's wise to think about it too. One way to avoid this is by going for stocks that have good fundamentals with a convincing track record. Even my grandma knew Dangote sugar would rise on listing, and it didn't disappoint. Only the bold ones bought Transcorp and Dunlop POs. I was not one of them!. Dunlop has since doubled while Transcorp fell, Things may change anyway. What a game of uncertainty!

@iyaegbe, welcome! min opening fees are :
BGL - 1M
Zenith - 1M
Lead capital - 500K
Dunno about others,  but BGL is strong and their charges r affordable. I kind of like Lead capital and Zenith too 'cause they r strong in research.

, rem you don't need any broker to buy IPOs, so you may sweep on the present offers

Good luck!

@Stanchuks,
Well, the deed is already done, but like every other member in the house, I also find your action a bit surprising. But of course, nobody is condemning you, afterall we are all here to help ourselves. My own little advice is that: (1). If possible, based on your circumstance, I'd suggest u shld not borrow the 1M from your broker (afterall you still have to pay your Dad, the money for his land!). The yield from the 1M equities you already hold can be used to offset the debt. , but if at all you want to go ahead to borrow the 1M then pls seek the opinion of an expert (may be your stockbroker), I think the recent boom in the NSE is indeed tempting and inviting to any wary investor, but one should also know that it's not always an upward thing!.

Hi guys, I just made some excel calculations now and realised it might be an optimised decision to sell some percentage of Zenith shares to buy more of Oceanic, but the question here is what if Zenith shares hit the roof at Zenith's end of the year in June - knowing they have a strong possibility of declaring bonus shares and dividends. For now, the ratio of Zenith to Oceanic is 1.92:1. Of course Oceanic will move up after the PO, but will this ratio move up in favor of Zenith or Oceanic, any idea

@nkc
I think it depends on your plan for investing in the first place. If you want to keep your 500K and later come back to meet it intact, the fund can guarantee that, considering that the fund is directed more (I think 70%) at the money market (@naijafresh has done good justice to that). However, you can not totally compare this with IBTC equity, because the investment focus of IBTC equity is in stocks. If I have 500K, I would rather buy some oceanic and put some in the KGIF, But still it depends on one's choice!.
Hope this also helps.

Kakawa Income Fund in my own opinion, is good for an investor gunning for capital preservation. You may not experience a drastic increase in your investment, but their is an assurance that your money will be preserved. So the question here is whether to play safe or take greater risks for more capital appreciation.

Hi guys,

A new entrant, But I have always been reading your posts. Respect to the profs in the house!. I don't know if anyone in da house knows something about the services of BGL Ltd and LeadCapital. I am considering opening a stock broking acct with them. It seems to me that BGL doesn't have a strong stock research unit, may be I am wrong sha. Anyone can also recommend any other strong research firms. Thanks and Kudos to you all
