LOL... Instinct defines nigerians. The job he is talking about can't give him 600 ghc a month that was our normal 30,000 naira before BuBu took over. Bankers are not even earning much because people patronize mobile money more than banks here. Nigerian councillors will feed their ghanian counterpart for years without any harm.

Stop spewing garbage, I live in Ghana and I've been here for the past 11years.

Man go and sit somewhere jare. They ask you what you are doing in Ghana as a job you didn't say. save me what I know pls. Are you saying that most brothers here are not into internet fraud and other related crimes ? Legitimate business ? Yes . you can be importing battery, charger and other phone accessories from Nigeria or China to Ghana or weavon hair or have a nigerian food spot ? while the ladies combines schooling with prostitution ? Or maybe you are a cab driver. Do not misinformed people who are currently making plans to come here pls o. They will end up sleeping on the floor in Accra and inside Kumasi market square due to high rent rate over many years.

Yes stable light and security even know there is so much kidnapping going on because the ashanti queen mother just died and they have been using foreigners for sacrifices.

Yay I like this topic ........your country is shit imagine I go Accra wan go buy sponge dem say 10cedis which is 1k some say 25sef 2500 Nah elephant I wan baff?? My mum called me three days ago telling me how two white diploma came into her office happy how they worked their transfer out of Accra to Abuja.. Cos of how expensive it is

The cheapest thing in Ghana is their browsing data plan and local call rates. Rent don turn battle, food is cold war while to get a car self means you have to take a loan as a government worker or buy one as a sakawa boy ( equivalents of Yahoo plus in Nigeria).

we are all learning too. Nobody knows it all.

Anyway, it's like this,

Before, Ghana's currency is like 10000 cedis to a naira, which is what their economy actually reflects.
So Ghanaian government redonminate the currency, (redonmination simply means they removed certain amount of zeros from their currency to have less zeros.. Like 10000 cedis will be equivalent to 1cedi.)

E.g
If a bread used to cost 10000 cedis, after redonmination, the bread will cos 1 cedis. But in actual economic reality, the bread is still 10000cedis.
Redonmination is usually done to checkmate inflation at a certain period and it as its own perks too.

E.g like someone said, you cant survive on 50k in Ghana for like a month, question is, how easy is it to make 50k in Ghana compared to Nigeria? That's where the economy reality sets in.

Get it now?

You are on point. Take a plate of Banku and tilapia.

Normal techno Phone is war film in Ghana o. Screen protector Nd other accessories. only blackberry phones is cheaper. Because out of every 50 blackberry users you see in Ghana, 47 are nigerians. The used ones is therefore cheaper.

why is phone cheaper in USA than Nigeria?

Economy is buoyant and the purchasing power is there so producers flood such countries with products which eventually drives competitions...

Now compare price of commodities In better economy to not so good economy..
Hmm

Lagos economy is thrice the size of that of Ghana let alone Nigeria.

So more powerful ports in Ghana as well. And other stuffs. Ghana is under 30 million unofficially but how do you explain 85 ghc to be 10,000 naira whereas what 5000 naira could do in Nigeria even 150 ghc cedis would not do it in Ghana. Phone pricing is only One of them. Even normal or common ear piece in Ghana can be sold for 8-10 ghc. old conversion rate between 400-500 new conversion is between 800-1000 naira. The type of earpiece you can get for 150 at compt village

[quote author=FunkyMetahuman post=51520718]you really have no clue how currency and economy works do you?

Naira 10 times more powerful than credits, thanks to our strong economy.

Dollars is the most powerful currency in the world thanks to American economy.
But if you compare dollar to pounds. Or uae currency, you will think pound is more powerful than dollars.

It's all about what your currency can do and the demand for it. [/quote

Understood. I am currently making other comparisons as well..

And why are you nigerians so obsessed with Ghana? Ghana this, Ghana that! Can't you people fvcking mind your business? I don't get it. Is it to score cheap points that your recession -plagued country is better than Ghana or what? You guys are pathetic, to be honest! Norway is regarded as one of the richest country in world, yet it is one of the most expensive. What has purchasing power got to do with anything? You can't survive on 50,000 a month in Ghana, so what? Arrant crap!

Comparing phone prices is now an issue to you ? Because you are a ghanian I should no longer Post on NAIRALAND? Nigeria is never obsessed with Ghanians. It has always been the opposite. Apart from your stable electricity there is nothing to behold with any bewildered amusement about Ghana Charlie.

Go to Ghana With 50,000 u cant survive for A month

One Month ? LOL. even for 2 weeks. Unless you take tro-tro( like lagos yellow buses ) and cooking in the house. Anything short of this, you are stranded. no help in Ghana when you are stranded everyone cry their own cries. But the issue is, why is phone especially like that. To buy phone problem , to repair war , to swap cold war.

Is their economy bad as ours?
. Yes please. With 10,000 naira in a nigerian market you can still get something as foodstuffs in Nigeria while in Ghana with their 200 ghc cedis ( now 85ghc) which is equivalent to our 10,000 naira you can't buy anything there. But the issue of phone is worst !!! That's why am asking why is it like that.

USA is also in for their own result of change through Gen Donaldson Trump and Ghanians are crying for change as well. Therefore, I feel it is needless to beging to call a minister of this very nation when you do not even have your local government chairman's phone number or his subordinates numbers with you.
