It's been almost 9weeks after deadline, no show!

I have even forgotten about the application( I applied for IPAB in Feb), survival is paramount at the moment.

Do well to update us if you get any update, I will do the same.

I feel your plight..but don't confuse yourself with the loss just yet. You saved the naira equivalent bearing in mind the euro exchange rate then. I'm sure you must have budegted N400/€. So leave $ out when calculating the loss.

The only way to stop a further loss is to buy euros asap, but then it may result in a more exasperating loss if naira later picks up. The ball is in your court.

Thanks for the insight especially at the bolded,I never thought of it that way, which I should have.I will make a decision soon.

Its not about the pandemic bro, read up on bloomberg, we are in a recession and we would need to devalue the naira soon

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-24/oil-plunge-puts-pressure-on-nigeria-to-devalue-the-naira-further

This is what years of playing politics with the economy gets you! no diverse stream of revenue generation, hiring incompetent finance ministers and half-baked polytechnic economists to oversee the biggest economy in Africa, well look where we are now.
There is fire on the mountain...What do you suggest people in my situation do?

I trust that you guys are staying safe.I don't know why I haven't posted this earlier. According to the parallel market exchange rate, I have lost around $1500 on the money saved on my gtb savings account for the purpose of Block account...I am sure a lot of people are currently in this present situation.

Please guys, how do I stop this further loss, because I am almost certain that Naira will lose more grounds to the dollar in the coming days, weeks. embarassed embarassed embarassed

Yeah I understand you bro, I would have tried Sweden and Denmark but I have missed out on some of the schools as their window is closed for this winter. The ones left are very expensive. For some of these countries the plan is not to stay there long-term it's just to get international training and look for somewhere better.. Life is all about planning but even as we plan we should also keep in mind that is not all things that will go smoothly (take for instance this German waka now) that's why there ought to be room for plan B any how sha. We go dey alright

I agree with you, one just needs to make findings well...I will like to pm you.

No wahala... I'm trying not to put all my eggs into one basket so I'm considering other destinations like Estonia for now, the course I'm looking at is Agri-food Business Management. You can also check it out to see if it meets up to what you want. Cheers
Nice bro...I am skeptical about countries like that,I know Nigeria isn't the country we want it to be at the moment, but I am trying to tread carefully the "grass is not always green on the other side" It will be a disaster to move away from Nigeria to another not so good country,at least we know if one has a problem here in Nigeria there are friends/family to run to,but if one gets stranded in countries like Estonia,Latvia and Lithuania probably due to difficulties in getting a job after spending thousands of euros to get their certificate, don't you think it would have been better staying here rather than going to those countries?

I will like you to share your views on this.

The university of Hohenheim only offers scholarship for that particular course. Although there's usually a pre test before applications. Get your docs in place and write a good motivation letter. The name of the course coordinator is Katrin Winkler and she's a helpful lady, get her email from the website and shot her an email.

This is helpful, I have uploaded the reply I got from the email address

Good day e-fam,
I studied agricultural Extension/Economic, while searching I discovered schools like Humboldt University of Berlin, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and University of Bonn.
I noticed that University of Hohenheim is the most notable for agric related courses, the issue now is there is tuition fee of about 3000euros, I will like to know if they waive such or not, so I wouldn't bother applying.
I contacted the University no reply yet.
If you have knowledge about this, please don't hesitate to contribute.

Thanks.

Good morning brother. I'm also a recent graduate of agricultural economics, still serving though. I graduated with a 4.40cgp with about an av of 4.70 in my last two years of study. I'm looking to start this process in the coming year. I sent you a DM request, please respond.

I have responded,I am sorry for the delay.

Mr Frank,

I must say you and the rest of the Gurus are selfless...I graduated with a cgpa of 3.5(agricultural Extension and rural development) i know it is classified as 2.1, even though I know no two applications are the same
but I don't intend on applying for a direct masters because the info I have gathered here so far indicates that it will be a tough task to gain admission into a direct masters with that cgpa, considering that my last two years cgp as an undergraduate is not any better, roughly (3.56).

Therefore,I am considering applying for admission to Fanshawe College(Agri-Business Management)a graduate certificate,It is quite a popular school here and I am hoping @Naijaforeigner will be of help too.. I hope the V.O won't feel I could have done better with that cgpa? Does this show progression? Would you advice I look for another post graduate diploma in a University, perhaps like Saskatchewan University? What are my chances of getting a study Visa? there are so many questions I would love to ask,but I must stop here.

I need everyones suggestions.

Merci

Naijaforeigner, Frankrobbn1, JustMellow...Your contributions on this will be appreciated.

Just some heads up.

1. You actually can get a Masters placement with a 3.5 CGPA. Although it may be difficult, but I did get an admission with a CPGA within that range for a friend at Memorial.

2. Target programs and schools that do not mandate applicants to get a supervisor before being admitted. Supervisors always want students with 'excellent' grades so do not waste your time looking for research programs or programs that mandate supervisors.

3. Don't go for anything less than a Masters degree especially if you are going to apply for your study visa from Nigeria. Your chances will be very low although it is not impossible.

4. Do not under-estimate the power of your statement of interest or personal statement. Get a well written personal statement. It will do 30% of the job.

5. Get your professor(s) to write you some good recommendation. It works a lot.

I hope you find this piece of information useful.

Regards.

Thank you for taking your time to write...This has been really helpful.

There about 5-8 Universities offering Masters admission pertaining to my course of study.I have researched about majority of them.

1.Brandon University:It offers masters admission into the department of ''Rural Development'',I searched their website, I couldn't get the Eligibility requirements,so I have mailed them regarding that...( I am not putting much efforts on this because I don't believe it will fly, telling the V.O I want to go to Canada just for the development of the rural areas, what economic value would that add to me in the real sense.

2.University of Saskatchewan:Offers ''Agricultural Economics'' (It would have been a perfect program for me but it requires a Supervisor) this is out of it.

3.Dalhousie university (master of Agriculture; Business and Social sciences). It requires a Supervisor too

4.University of Guelph (master of Food, agricultural and Resource Economics)
Requirements:minimum 70% (B-) average over the past two years in a four-year honours degree in Food,
Agriculture or Resource Economics (or
in a field of economics)...

I don't have the above qualifications too.

5.University of Alberta (Agricultural Economics/Rural Sociology and MSc
agricultural and Resource Economics) this needs a supervisor too, although this is what I saw on their website
"Please note that it is NOT necessary to identify a potential supervisor prior to applying for admission to graduate programs in the Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology"

Please how true is the above?after gaining admission,if I don't get a supervisor, what will be the outcome?

Local man is really tired.

To be honest, it is even difficult for a 2.2 with cgpa of 3.1 to get admission for a PGC, l have been refused admission at Conestoga for 5 IT courses despite work experience, paid application fee of $100 twice, and the reasons for refusal is insufficient GPA, spreading your chances involve application fees as well,Let's be realistic. At the end of the struggle we will give thanks to God.

I swear bro,it is that application fee that is compelling me to do my research diligently,I don't want to waste money.

I don't know much about Canada but if you don't apply for MSc and spread your chances in different schools... you will never know what lies ahead. If someone with a 3.56 is scared, what should someone with a 3.0 do?

My opinion is shaped from the fact that I don't believe in all these diploma thing

I appreciate your advice and I understand your concern,my final cgpa is 3.5, the 3.56 you stated is my cgp for my final two sessions in school (i.e 400 & 500 Level).I am trying to learn from people's experiences here and I have read things about applicants that we share similar undergraduate courses and they even had a higher CGPA but still struggled to get admission...Just as you have said,I don't know what lies ahead,I will expand my master's admission search then.
Thanks.

In order not to detail the thread with constant repetitive answers, please check my post earlier this year for THE LIST OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR A SUCCESSFUL STUDY VISA APPLICATION.

The Cyber security(1yr. Co-op) at Toronto school of management is it a post graduate diploma or an advanced diploma?, Assuming it's a PGD/C and you finished with a 2.2, then your chances of securing a Canadian TRV are good.

It will end in praise
