denisbid: U have three answers to this. 1. As a CEO myself I know if you scale any entity or organization well, the number 1 citizen tend to live in it's afluence and wealth. 2. The bible says seek forth the kingdom of God and every other thing will I add. 3. It is not a crime for anyone to be rich including a pastor unless they aquire the money a wrong way. To the glory of God I'm a pastor and I'm rich without a Kobo from the church added to me, I had been with money before I became a pastor but after I acknowledge and accepted the calling, I became more and more based on divine help. So, money is good unless ill way gotten |

lepasharon: Religion was not meant to take a country anywhere. It's misplaced priorities. The appearance of Jesus was to save lost souls from sin to turn from their bad ways. Obviously, we need our pastors to do more good jobs which will send ripples of good behavior into the society. By and large, religion is self Discovery and not nation journey or thereabout 1 Like |

Do we have born footballers or born fighters. If yes, why I'll it be out of place to have born preachers and people after God's heart. The fact that a car was involved in an accident would not stop us from traveling in a car, please be calm even if you once had cases that are unpleasant with pastors, not all are thesame. 1 Like |

OtemAtum:.. From my point of view, all these quotes are not from the bible so it's null and void, I am sorry, this thread is for pastors and Christians. It will be a frutile effort if we start proving points based on what we believe in. I am so sorry if I am not dragging this for so long. But whatever we believe let us be true to it till the end. The end will justify the means. |

Renida: Thank you for pointing this out. I only summarized what it means, if the bible says a pastor must be in control of his household, that means if you don't have an household you should not be a pastor leading people. There are student pastors and youth pastors etc For example, when a couple comes to you for counseling, how do you do that as a single pastor when you only assume what goes on in marriage. |
Religion / Re: Thread For Pastors And Those Called Into Ministry by PastorBK(m): 1:37pm On Apr 16, 2020 |
OtemAtum: The main job of anyone in God's kingdom is to preach the gospel which means telling others to embrace Jesus and let go of sin. Secondly pastors lead the church which is the gathering of the people of God to worship God and edify themselves about how to be their best version. |

Part 2 A pastor must be sober — not a drunkard (Titus 1:7; 1 Tim 3:3). This is not just overindulgence in alcohol but is idiomatic for any behavior that fuels addictive responses. A pastor must be peaceful — not violent (Titus 1:7; 1 Tim 3:3). A pastor is prone to inflict violence through his words. He is to be a peacemaker. A pastor must have financial integrity — not greedy for gain (Titus 1:7; 1 Tim 3:3; 1 Peter 5:3). A pastor is to be upright in his financial dealings and not accused of pursuing money over the kingdom of God. This is a point that has destroyed alot of men of God. The love of money and copy cat syndrome is a major tool the devil uses against men of God. A pastor must be hospitable (Titus 1:8; 1 Tim 3:2). A pastor’s home is to be open for others to enjoy. A pastor’s home is not a heaven on earth, but rather a place of ministry. A pastor must be a lover of good (Titus 1:. A pastor genuinely loves what is good. He does not just think he should love it. A pastor must be self-controlled (Titus 1:8; 1 Tim 3:2). Self-control is a characterization of every area of a pastor’s life: diet, time, mouth, exercise, relationships, sex, and money. A pastor must be upright (Titus 1:. He has integrity in his relationships and in how he treats others. A pastor must be holy (Titus 1:. His life is devoted wholeheartedly to Jesus externally and internally. A pastor must be able to teach (Titus 1:9; 1 Tim 3:2). All of the other qualifications are character qualities. This is the only ability-based requirement. He is to be able to teach sound doctrine, not just be able to communicate in an excellent manner. His teaching can be to one or two, to twenty, to a hundred or to a thousand. Most of the churches in Crete were house churches. The elders were to defend the faith once delivered to the saints against the numerous false teachers that arose. A pastor must be spiritually mature (1 Tim 3:6). Positions of authority without spiritual maturity lead to the trap of pride. When pride grows in a man, sin abounds. A pastor must be respectable (1 Tim 3:7). That does not mean that everyone must like him or even appreciate him. It means that there is no credible witness to an ongoing sinful behavior. A pastor must be an example to the flock (1 Peter 5:3). Elders are examples of biblical expressions sexually, time management, marriage, parenting, worship, relationships and any other way. A pastor should be someone your sons could pattern their life after and the kind of man your daughter should marry Now as a non Pastor you should know what to expect from a pastor so you can run away from fake ones that the bible talked about. And as a pastor you should know what is expected of you so you will not fall short. Thank you and may your ministry grow and impact positively this generation. Yours in faith Pastor Blessing Kolawole HelpVille Christian Centre Abuja. |

Part 1: As a pastor, ensure you have all the criteria the bible indicated for you to have. The word of God (bible) is the yardstick and instructional manual binding all Christians. No matter what you see or hear in trances and visions, it must align with the bible, if not you're under attack of either sef illusion or a demon. A pastor must be devoted to his wife; one-woman man (Titus 1:6; 1 Tim 3:2). The pastor’s marriage illustrates Christ’s love for His church—His bride (Eph. 5:22 .). A Pastor must love his wife exclusively with his mind, will and emotions and not just his body. A pastor’s children must be in submission, though not perfect (Titus 1:6; 1 Tim 3:4-5). If a man does not know how to manage his own family, he will not know how to take care of God’s church. The first flock for a pastor is his own family as Pastor Dad. A Pastor’s qualification for the church starts in his home management as he leads them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord (Eph. 6:4). Note: This simply mean if you're single without a family you're not yet qualified to be a pastor. A pastor is a faithful steward (Titus 1:7). Here the term used is overseer (Greek episkopos). It is not another office, but a functional title of the elder. It is what he does. He is a steward, a manager of God’s resources and Jesus’ flock. He takes responsibility, but not ownership. A pastor must be humble — not arrogant (Titus 1:7). A pastor must constantly demonstrate the gospel by admitting when he is wrong and assuming responsibility and restoring relationships. A pastor must be gentle — not quick-tempered (Titus 1:7; 1 Tim 3:3). No man will be of any use in the kingdom that is quick-tempered. The difference between how Jesus demonstrated anger is that He was angry at the abuse of others in the name of religion and the dishonoring of God. We get angry at how it affects us. |

Godfoundme: This is a real advice... If you must know that if you cannot fix your house as a pastor then you cannot lead a congregation, this will take me to my first update. What a pastor should be or have according to the bible. You will see here that most of the pastors that are making people angry do not have these biblical standard. |

I know it is a privilege to be called into ministry. I also know it is a challenging mission that most times has little or no support/advice machineries in place to help out. This is a thread to hear and help out pastors and people called into ministry who has questions or topics to share. May the good Lord grant us all the strength to keep doing his good work without backsliding. Amen Updated: I set up this to answer genuinely questions and have good conversation, based on the fact that a lot of people got what religion, Jesus etc means and does. Please insults is not necessary as you can ask me anything and I will answer in a way that you will understand which will help you know a good or bad man of God Update Apr 16 2020: in comments, write up about qualities a pastor should have. This is an indication to knowing a called pastor. God cannot be mocked. |

JimohMomoh: All these people you mentioned are testaments that divorce is bad. All they became was a mean selfish ambitious personality that doesn't work with family which also doesn't make the work go round. What most people don't know is after divorce you become a different demon that is emotionless. No matter who u continue with, you will never be loveable or loving. Sanity in marriage is once, no second chance all we see is packaged love that is not real. My job as a pastor has exposed the before and after divorce to me and I know it's unhealthy and I choose to make a single marriage work and not trying out another or staying alone. afterall all marriages started well. Let me conclude by saying, most married people wants their partners to change to what they see as an ideal husband or wife instead of accepting them the way they are while praying and helping them become who we want. We all do well as a parent because we can't divorce our children, even when they become bad, we still pray and try to mk them better but wen it's in marriage we activate the clause of divorce because we think it's cool. Nothing good comes easy either you're single, divorced or married all required efforts 1 Like |

Divorce looks easy but ask those involved and as a pastor with loads of divorce cases handled with the aftermath. I know with certainty that death is better in this regard.. Try as much as you can to avoid it and don't fall to the cheap class of people thinking it's a piece of cake |

Religion / Re: What Does The Bible Say About Masturbation? by PastorBK(m): 6:07pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
I am late on this thread but I will still say what the issue is. 1. Anything addiction is solved by not attacking your act but embrassing it and sliding out of it gradually and unknowingly. (I have a whole functional spiritual book on this) I can't explain fully here. 2. The bible didn't specifically mention the case of masturbation and for me anything you do that you are disturbed about, then it's bad based on your own consience. 3. If you want to be happy, responsible and have a perfect legacy, the you need to have control over your sexual feelings. It's way more than masturbation. You will also fall into alot of sexual sins that will destroy so much about what you're trying to do. 4. Rome was not built in a day. If you want to stop, don't force it. Just start out and stop sonography, that's the fuel. Give yourself targets and stay clean and I you fallback into it, don't hate yourself, it's not a bad thing to fail provided u learnt something from it. I wish I can explain all the things coming into my head but getting close to God answers a lot of these issues while prayers is a tool for purification. You can ask me for the book "towering above addiction" I will send the ebook if need arises. |

Health / Covid-19: Why Are Most Nairalanders Pessimistic by PastorBK(m): 4:13pm On Apr 07, 2020 |
I am short of words and perplexed by the amount of negativity going on I'm the various comments session. I can no longer hold my breath. It's now very clear to me that the slavery the whites took our forefathers are still in us full bar. Why is it that it is only what the whites do that is good, and whatever a black man does is never good. Not even by any benefit of doubts. It this poverty that had eaten our brains or we just don't have any self believe and self esteem. I can only imagine if we do and say all this sad things to ourself and never seeing any thing good in what we do, why then do we complain when were thrown bananas and racism abound on us. Little wonder the France doctor said they should go to Africa to test new vaccines. We know now that all these giants of the world are not giant as much as we're made to know. The quantity of millionaire in Nigeria is not a function of our people huzzling outside the country. There are loads of loads of people who made it here in Nigeria. Good things are happening here especially with the fact that covid-19 has not finished us as these whites wants us to believe. I beg you all if you see this text to let us stay on the encouragement side, not criticism of all that is done to help us all stay safe from either the virus or the 5G as some are postulating.. Whatever you think, we are Africans no matter how much we hate, that is not going to change. If you like have 20 citizenships it will not change your color nor change your origin. I pray Nigeria will be a shinning light to the whole world. Covid-19 came as a joke and Nigerians are getting healed like a joke as well. The end will justify the means. God bless Nairaland God bless all of us God bless our front health workers God bless us at home grinding even in hunger God bless Nigeria |
