Nice that the seeds come from NIFOR. That is what Nigerians should be doing, get real hybrid seeds from the recommended distributors and sprout them and sell to the public and have evidence of the source of the seeds to give to your buyers.

The only problem I have with your post is that you use the word "some folks" it is not some folks, it is very many folks. They advertise on Nairaland, through whatsapp and facebook claiming to be selling hybrid seeds and duping people.

I lost a lot of money trying to get hybrid pawpaw seeds and only realised lately that they are simply getting f2 seeds from germinated F1 plants and selling such F2 seeds as F1 seeds. I spoke to one of the folks doing this and the fool did not even know the difference between F1 and F2 seeds.

Some other folks I have spoken to know the difference between F1 and F2 but are simply preying on the ignorance of people to sell them f2 seeds and seedlings in place of F1 seeds.

If I were resident in Nigeria at the time of the purchase, I would have driven down to see and investigate the seeds I am buying before parting with my money.

I am also at loss as to what to do with 1000 stands of so called hybrid bananas I planted after buying it from a renowned seed seller on Nairaland. He sent me pictures of massive bunch sizes as evidence of what the yield will look like from the banana at maturity, 3 years down the line, I did not get any useful yield from the banana.

If you are abroad don't go into farming as the sole or major financer of the project in Nigeria, the people are either too incompetent or too fraudulent to be trusted with your hard earned money and left without close supervision.

Be that as it may, they are genuine farmers in Nigeria, one that will give you the genuine and quality seeds you'd need. I started my farm in Nigeria from the USA, and I have been most fortunate to have been in business with genuine contacts mostly because of the heavy research and close control that I had to do.

I make sure I contact the right persons within NIFOR, as you may imagine, they are NIFOR staffs who can even sell unsuspecting buyers inferior seeds that had issue during cross pollination and is marked as waste.

Regarding your situation with PawPaw, I believe in the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) should have what you needed and you could write them and make payment directly. Some systems maybe broken in Nigeria, but in all fairness I see good progress in the Agricultural sector.

I was really please when I got a reply to my inquires I made from NIFOR, CRIN and also EDO GIS. It pays to do extensive research, its not always easy but with constant pushing and a little bit of patience, one is most likely to get good info

Having said that, while some farmers have less than sincere intentions and go about selling adulterated seedlings to the unsuspecting population; know that what I have is genuine and from NIFOR.

sorry about your bad experience, it happens to the best of us, one just need to be more careful in their dealings

Am not sure about banana, but I understand that the size of the finger is also very dependent on the availability of water more also the nutrients of the soil.
How was the farm maintenance ( weeding, fertilizer supplements, ... etc) also, when you prune the fingers during fruting, it redirects the nutrients into the size of the fingers giving a significantly bigger fingers in the bunch

Be very careful what tree seedlings that you promote. Lots of deception going on in the sales of seedlings and suckers.

How did you confirm that the seedling that you are promoting is actually hybrid?
Who certified it as hybrid?

Some folks just take seeds from hybrid plants, sprout them and claim that the resulting seedlings are hybrids and sell to unsuspecting buyers who would not know that they have been duped until years later when the plants start producing and they don't get the expected hybrid performance.

Some folks nurse f2 sprouted nuts, but this right here isn't f2.
Sprouted nuts can be purchased from NIFOR, the recommended distributor of hybrid sprouted nuts.

The seedlings been promoted is cultured from sprouted nuts purchased from NIFOR.

I know for a fact that not everyone has the will and patience to grow their own seedlings.

Your concerns are well placed, but know that we deal with authentic hybrids from NIFOR.

The KKK or the anti-facist?

This picture really touched my soft spot ... let them free that police that killed that black guy..the police officer so far looks frustrated and depressed anytime soon his wife is gonna divorce him ..las las e go commit suicide all will still end in tears

How would you say that the police be freed, do you understand the meaning of this expression ??

in Michigan, not too long ago, the white supremacist had a protest with assault riffles, and all sort of semi auto riffles; the reason for the protest was that they need the saloons open for them to fix their hair and nails! No police assaulted anyone and they called it a peaceful protest, a group of black folks walking and having a peaceful protest are been met with police brutality using rubber bullets and tear gas on them which promoted a peaceful protest into a street riot.

The white police that killed the Flyod; both of them worked as security guard in one night club and the owner reported stating that the white cop had issues with people of color and is quick to use pepper spray on them over nothing.

The white murderer has 18 complaints filed against him for police brutality and only had 2 disciplinary actions the rest were closed with no action taken.

This murderer had his kneel on the neck of another human being for over 9 mins, the man was begging and pleading for breath; a God given right so much that he was then calling on his mother; a woman that had die just to save him at that point in time.

He ( murderer) needs to be in super max which he is only for the wrong reason.

I have seen videos showing white cops destroying and their own vehicles and also breaking windows and glasses to shops.

A lady bought some radio that picks on different frequency and on one of them, she could hear some male voices ( mostly white as she said ) saying that they will give $100 for every black guy that is killed in the course of the riot / protest.

very sad

Oga,being a real man entails self control, all women are the same o they have power in the mouth and most times don't mean what they say,you should never have raised your hand on a woman, wife or not. That said, please apologize to your wife and have a talk with her, fighting gets you no where and don't be deceived that a another wife will do better.
Please don't lay your hands on. Any woman ever again

I did not get the opportunity to read everyone's comment, but this very one here, is what I'd do if I were to be in your shoes.

There is power in the mouth of a woman, guide her to use that mouth and make good pronouncements and see how favor will smile on you from all angles
Family / Re: Marriage And Its Challenges; My wife is pushing me to the extremes by pawn89(m): 8:02pm On May 20, 2020
This is surprising, honestly; you bring in 100k+ monthly into the family and also have a side hustle going on for you, your wife asks you to make more and you raised your hands on her ?

I think you need to apologize to your wife, that your wife is asking you to do some more hustling is not an act of disrespect, if anything, she wants you to succeed and to raise financial status of your own family.

Please do the needful, swallow your pride; she's your wife, and if she wants you to hustle more and you think you are out of ideas you can just as well ask her for inputs and for you to evaluate the ideas she brings in.

Behind every successful man, there's a woman; this is because, women are attracted to wealth and people with purpose, actionable plan and visions and can translate that purpose to wealth with some help from them.

Apologize to her, mend the broken wall and save your marriage

PS: If you get very upset, just take a walk, its therapeutic, I do it and by the time you return, everyone's emotion will be on check and tempers would have cooled down smiley

Farming in the US is not just expensive, the kind of things you will have to do as a farmer just to turn a profit is almost inhumane, I hear speculations that farmers introduce all sort just to rapidly increase the growth time of crops.

We are what we eat, so when you have a produce that is saturated with so much chemical just to improve production rate in a bid to turn a profit and with little "natural" nutrients, the consumers end up for health problems over time.

Personally, I feel Africa is among the best place for Agricultural produce were the vegetables and fruits are not made of artificial or chemically induced nutrients.

You mentioned you have two kids at the moment, when did you start noticing these changes ( am assuming it wasn't like this at the start of your marriage yes ? )

Sometimes, it could be a case of your wife experiencing postpartum depression, ,in which case you need to deal with very differently and with sensitivity

Family / Re: Should I Leave My Husband Or Not? by pawn89(m): 4:37pm On Dec 30, 2019
Am confused, if its due to child birthing, why would the husband be upset ?
If anything, he is the one that triggered her illness by impregnating her and possibly not providing enough help and support she needs before, during and after her birthing the baby.

This is the time to show support, encourage her and do all that a loving husband will do to help her heal, not causing her to be even more depressed.

Discuss with him, let him know that the nature of the illness will surface only after childbearing, and no way to know prior to birthing a child.

She's your wife, am sure she's seen her error. Her anger is not justified, but you as the husband need to give her a way out.
Apologize to her and in the doing re-enforce the reason why she needs to show compassion towards the maid, no need to have a win-loose situation, bring your wife close and in the act strengthen your marriage.

Peace!

I can totally relate to what you are going through. I used to be in that same position, I will advice you continue with studying mathematics. Programming is an acquired skill, you can still learn it and become a professional without studying computer science.

Religion / Re: RCCG Pastor: "Dangote Will Not Make Heaven" - Daddy Freeze Reacts by pawn89(m): 5:00pm On Feb 12, 2018
This is really getting out of hand, how are pastors now reducing the gift to salvation to a common payment of tithes ?
This is despicable, how does payment of tithe hinder/ allow one to make heaven for the love of God ? The requirement to make heaven is an easy one " For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation... Romans 10:10 )

its very saddening for anyone to think that there tithe is what qualifies them, how can anyone in his/her right senses think salvation has anything to do with money, are they bribing God in advance or what ??
