The deluded one. No need to change the goal post. The point was that Turkey and Egypt were historic Christian STRONGHOLDS until blood sucking murderers raped the two countries in the name of whoever said that killing other people is the way to heaven. The point is that Islam had no foothold in Egypt and Turkey historically. But today, both are claimed to be probably over 90% islamic. And this kind of makes the VP appear like a dumb orstrich when he claims that Nigeria (with about 50% native moslems) cannot be islamized. The point is that the murderous fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram et al had been doing in Nigeria what their brethren did in Turkey, Egypt (and Sokoto) in centuries past. Yet the deluded VP and Southern Policy Makers dismiss it as mere terrorism. My dear, what's going on in the north is not just terrorism. It's propagation of islam. It's jihad. Every sensible human being should know that no one can terrorize another person for NOTHING. THERE IS ALWAYS A PURPOSE FOR EACH ACT OF TERTORISM. In Nigeria, islamization is that purpose, nothing else. May the Southern Nigeria not be like the present day Egypt and Turkey. Say AMEN. [s] Demmzy15:[/s] |

You are so deluded. I wonder where you are from. So Roman Catholic is now a British govt. church too? Methodist? Baptist? You are seriously sick. But I am not suprised. Jesus already explained what you are doing now, and here is how he puts it: John 8:44 (New International Version) [s] Demmzy15:[/s] |

You are a demonic lair. Chritianity spread PRIMARILY through evangelism and SOCIAL WORK (free education, free medical care, free foods, free clothing, etc). Yes, there was a brief history of forced conversion in Europe but that was purely a political move after the adoption of roman catholicism as a state religion. Before and after this time christians were often persecuted by the state. And at no time did christianity entrench external agression as a means of propagation. In Nigeria, South East and South South for example, are predominantly christian. So which historic christian conquest was done in those regions? When? But we all know that the presence of islam in both the north and west was spearheaded with a series of brutal conquests in those regions. So please there is virtually no ideological semblance between islam and christianity as far as propagation goes. ahmg001: |

Why were you so offensive in the defense of your own dogmatism? Kind of reminds me of the gross hypocrisy of the American democrats, who force Christians to accept liberal views (like gay rights) but find it too hard to accept their own duely elected president. I guess your conscience is attempting to restrain you but you are somehow bent on violating your own conscience on the altar of convience and political correctness. 1. See, I don't give a hoot about your personal views and ideologies. You can convert to islam and change your name to Mr. One Nigeria. That's your businesss. And I don't care. My resentment is mainly enkindled when you create threads that give OUTSIDERS the opportunity to bash igbos and label them as "confused lots who don't know what they want". 2. If you think you have a persuasive alternative pro-Igbo agenda, Nairaland is not the platform for it. The fact that you have been shouting out to the mods (probably to put this thread on the frontpage) shows how gullible and naive you are. I dare you to scrutinize this forum and see if you would find threads created by Yorubas or Housas calling out and ridiculing the political leaders of their respective zones. If you think your views are better than those proposed by the exit movement then go and engage with them on Radio Biafra Facebook group. But how can you be persuasive when you neither know our collective history nor relate with the disadvantaged majority. 3. The fact that you failed to realize that exit movement is the only force that can compel Nigeria to restructure itself betrays your naveity again. It totally beats me how you could naively expect positive social change from a system that is structurally designed to favor only a few at the expense of the many. That's simply too gullible. It betrays your gross ignorance of Nigeria's political and economic history, especially as it relates to your own people. 4. As FFK rightly pointed out from the words of Rev. Martin Luther King. He said, ‘COWARDICE asks the question: is it safe? EXPEDIENCY asks the question: is it political? VANITY asks the question: is it popular? But CONSCIENCE asks the question: is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor political, nor popular – but one must take it simply because it is right’. Kayceenaz: 1 Like |

1. Prove that you are not a kid. Just show me one instance where I mentined "igbo" in my engagement with YOU in particular. If you cannot do that, then know this as a fact: your childish mind is responding to it's own thoughts and NOT to my statements. 2. I resent Igbos who champion anti-igbo sentiments on this platform because by doing so, they give arrogant outsiders like you the opportunity to think that you have any idea what we are talking about. Or, worse still, it gives you the delutional impression that you have a right to participate in the discussion.. naijalander: |

Good to know that you are Igbo. Good too that you are intelligent. But then, personally, I don't fancy it when Igbos champion anti-igbo rhetorics on Nairaland. There are a lot of alternative and pro igbo and Biafran platforms on which you can air your views with full empathy and understanding of how Nigeria's institutionalized injustice had affected the majority of the Biafran population and still do up till this moment. What I really think you should stop handling with "kids gloves" (sic) is the more than 50-year old anti igbo sentiments that've been entrenched in the Nigerian psyche and on this Forum. You should also realize that those championing the exit movement have never been politicians in the present system. And yes no system will ever be perfect. So no need to speculatively demonize an alternative option that you've not tried. Also, how come you seem to have no idea that the root cause of the seeming retrogression this country is trapped in is its unjust systems and extractive institutions? This suggests that you either did not grow up here or you did not share the experience of the common class. Just yesterday, January 3rd 2017, I heard a cracking noise near a friend's office. And when I asked what it was about I was told that a young female hawker was just ran over by a speeding vehiecle - and it was near certain she won't survive. I could not go out to witness the horrible event but I wept uncontrollably in the office. Why? - This young girl chose hawking (when others were still celeberating new year) because she had to survive and prostitution was not an option. - Hawking was attractive because education was not made compulsory for her. - Now that she is down, woud she access any kind of insurance cover? Your guess is as good as mine. I could go on and on, but I guess you have an idea of what I am saying. This is 2017. And this system has never worked since the last 100 years. #IWantAnAlternative Kayceenaz: |

Entitlement to your opinion does not give you any damn rights to ARGUE with me about my perceived future and destiny. Who the heck are you to decide the future of the Biafrans and what's the best for them? Yea, bring forth your concerns about how the exit will affect you or your region. Base your entire arguments and discurse on that premise EXCLUSIVELY. STOP telling us what to do, or what's good for us. WE DO NOT NEED YOUR OPINION ON THOSE. And you have absolutely no jurisdictions whatsoever to instruct us or decide for us what the "good idea" is. Heck! naijalander: |

Before you jump into conclusions and start the stale blame game, you should have first asked a few pertinent questions. 1. From where was the data derived? Jobberman's platform alone? All recruitment portals and platforms that serve the country? Could it be that the data is suggesting that Jobberman is losing it's market share? Could it be that this is not necessarily a nationwide decline in applications across the board? 2. What is the statistical position of the announced vacancies in the same period? Could the decline in applications be a direct outcome of general decline in job offers? Blaming the collective for the irresponsibility and ineptitude of the government is pathetic, and that's putting it nicely. DropShot: 2 Likes |

What right do you have to decide what's good for a region you DO NOT belong to? You guys are disgustingly so arrogant! - Did your region fight and lose a civil war? NO - Had your region ever declared independence and got reannexed? NO again. - What the heck then gives you the impetus to think you know what's the "good idea" for a region that experienced the two scenarios above? Pure madness. You are entitled to your opinions, speculations and suggestions, but ARGUING with another group (to which you do not belog) on what's the best for their future and destiy is the height of insanity induced arrogance. This is the same institutionalized madness that led to the dreaded civil war. @ Kayceenaz take note. [s] naijalander:[/s] 3 Likes |
Politics / Re: Nigeria Could Teach The West A Few Things - Bloomberg by pchukwudi: 7:52am On Jan 04, 2017 |
With 160 million people, Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country. Just over 50 percent of the people are Christians, who form the majority in southern Nigeria; Muslims account for another 45 percent of the population, largely living in northern Nigeria. There are 30 million Catholics in the country. In 2012, close to 1,000 Christians died because of their faith in Nigeria, according to reports, and Boka Haram is responsible for the deaths of at least 700 Christians in 2013. |

I thought I asked you to ignore all the further provocations on this matter? But to answer your question, Afonja is actuaally a historic figure in in Yoruba culture. I am not a Yoruba person, but while I had never ascribed the name to anyone, I actually don't think the name in itself is derogatory. It's just like someone calling you Ojukwu or any other historic figure from igbo extraction. Plus I think her calling you by that name is a valid proof that she did not believe that an igbo person can actually create this type of thread here. But please note that the above is sure not to justify the idea of tagging crude and derogatory names to anyone (irespective of their tribes). glossy6: |

How about showing her some love as a sister? I think it's clear now that she created the thread innocently (even though she shouldn't have) without any predjudice to Igbos in general. She has already been critisized enough. So now that she has taken down the OP I think you should show her sone love to prove that your criticism was not a personal attack. I realize that she called you a derogatory name in igbo first. But I beg you to overlook that and understand that even before you got here someone had already harrased her extremely. So I still insist you take the first step to make up with her as a sister. Please don't say no. Ada oma. pentlumpro: |
