MY TRUE PRIEST (A Christian Love Story)

Esther Azikwe made a 'simple mistake'; an action many take with levity hand today.

This almost cost her the happy and lively home she and her husband desired.

This is a story both singles and Married should read.

Those that read the article sent in earlier have definitely been watching for this post.

He had almost had his way when the door opened. I looked towards the door to see Grandma. She walked in angrily with her walking stick in her feeble hand.

As I struggled to rise from the bed, she started beating him with the stick, cursing him as she did.

“I just felt the pull that something was going on in this room. Rick, you are evil. Ha!” He flung her stick away and ran out angrily. I helped Grandma with her stick and followed her to her room.

“Sharon, since when?” She asked as soon as we had both calmed down.

“It’s been happening for long, just that he wants to do another thing today.” I replied.

“How come no one, not even your mother took notice?” She asked perplexed.

I kept my mouth shout as we lay down to sleep. Before I drifted off beside grandma, I heard the front door open and close with a bang: Uncle Rick had returned home.

Mummy got back around 4am in the morning but Grandma was fast asleep. I eventually woke up around 8 to news that almost had me running:

Grandma had died in her sleep.

It was just too hard for me to comprehend.

The person who could protect me was gone just like that?

Unlucky me!

The End?

No! Sharon's Story doesn't end here at all.

There were only two rooms in the house: Grandma’s room and Uncle Rick’s. The adults concluded I and Mum would join Grandma in her room and so we moved in. After a lot of search, Mum eventually got a job at a Restaurant as a waitress and would leave me at home with grandma and my uncle from morning till night.

Uncle Rick would never cease to comment that I should be grateful I got my Dad’s gene hence I was a beautiful girl. I would just stare at him in silence but Grandma would shout at him to keep shut. He would lick his lips in a scary way and walk away.

Uncle Rick was a womanizer. He brought ladies to the house however he wanted. Before long, I started seeing things and listen to conversations that a child my age shouldn’t be exposed to. I wasn’t registered in any school because of lack of funds so I stayed home throughout the day.

One day, I saw another side of Uncle Rick that was so difficult for my little mind to comprehend.

I was already five but my mother always assisted me with my bath before she went out. On this day, Mum woke up late and had to rush off so she couldn’t assist me. At around, 9am I still hadn’t taken my bath and Uncle Rick noticed. He decided he was going to help me and that I should get my towel and wait for him in the bathroom.

Before doing as he said, I checked on Grams to seek her opinion but discovered she was having her morning Nap.

I removed my clothes, wrapped my towel around my small body and went to the bathroom.

Not too long, Uncle Rick arrived with warm water.

I watched as he got things ready and when he was done he told me to remove the towel and hand it over to him.

As he collected the towel, he stared at me for some seconds and eventually said that I was becoming a big girl so fast. I shivered in response.

He placed the towel on a bar and started. He washed my body himself so I just kept mute. I just wanted him to be done quickly.

In few minutes, he was done and I reached out for my towel to cover my body like Mummy used to.

“Take it easy, Girl. I’m not done yet.” He said. He had that scary look on his face again.

“But…” I started.

“There is one more place that is still dirty.” He said as he licked his lips like he used to. I was getting scared.

“Where?” I whispered with a shaky voice.

“Oh No! You are scared. Don’t worry, it’s only a matter of days before you get used to it.”

What? Was he going to clean me up everyday?

“Widen your legs a bit.” He commanded and bent down in front of me.

My instincts told me to call for grandma but I clamped my mouth shut for fear of pissing him off.

I did as he said and before I could say Jack, he started touching me where a man wasn’t suppose to. I screamed.

He put his other hand on my mouth immediately.

As I watched in fear, he stopped for few minutes. I whimpered in pain. He grabbed my towel with his other hand and started stuffing it in my mouth. My eyes widened in fear. Does Uncle want to kill me? I wondered.

“Why are you acting like a kid? Don’t make me angry.” He spat out.

I blinked. What was I if not a kid? I was only 5 for Christ’s sake.

He bent down back and resumed back to what he had been doing earlier. I screamed against the gag. I struggled.

He did unspeakable things to me not minding my tears. He was smiling in pleasure. When I realized my struggle would change nothing, I just stood there crying.

I cried terribly but he didn’t even care. In few minutes, he was done.

I watched as he removed my towel out of my mouth, washed me one more time and cleaned my face to remove evidences of my tears. He handed my towel to me in silence.

I stared at him with despise as I grabbed my towel from him and fled from the bathroom. I heard him laugh behind me as tears once again rolled down my face.

I entered the room we shared with Grandma but she was still asleep. I dressed up quickly and lay beside her. The spot didn’t stop hurting me and i wept for long. I didn’t know when I slept off.

When Mummy came back from work at night, I had just started narrating things to her when she shouted at me that she was tired. Her actions weren’t so strange to me but I was hurt.

Uncle Rick made sure that became a daily routine. It continued like that till I was 6 years old and I got used to it. My Mum never suspected a thing. I still hadn’t started school and my mother didn’t care.

One evening, I was sitting in front of the house when some people whom Uncle Rick referred to as the ‘Church people’ came to invite us for a program.

Among them was a Woman who looked a bit younger than my mother. What caught my attention about her was that a young girl followed her closely throughout the time the group was talking to my Family. Her daughter I guessed.

I looked at mother and daughter and wondered if the woman was like my mother. The girl caught me staring and smiled. I stared back.

Truth be told it had been long I interacted with kids like me. That stopped the moment Dad died.

My chest tightened in pain at the thought of my Dad. If he were to be alive, Uncle Rick would be dead long ago.

“Esther, let’s go.” The woman said to the girl, jolting me back to the present. The girl was staring back at me. It was then I realized I had been staring at her for long. I looked down in shame. Her mother who had been watching us laughed.

“Its okay, my child.” She said to me. I dashed my eyelids furiously. She called me her child? Even my mother hadn’t done that in forever.

“Esther, we need to catch up with the others.” She said to her daughter.

As they turned to leave, the girl waved at me and I tried waving back. My mother shouted at me. I sighed.

“They are kids.” her mother said to my Mum.

As the woman turned to go, her daughter turned to me again; “Do you want to be my friend?”

I was speechless.

I wanted to scream ‘yes’ but I feared mum would be angry. I eventually smiled in response. The girl smiled back and ran after her mother. I watched her go with joy in my heart.

For the first time in a long time, I felt loved.

I had no idea if we were ever going to meet again, but I knew one thing for sure:

I now had a Friend named Esther.

My only friend.

The next day, to my surprise Mum went for the program in Esther’s church and when she came back she told everyone in the house she was now a believer. That she was now born again.

What a bombshell!

I didn’t know what she meant at first until Uncle Rick told me mother would soon join the Church people. To me there was just nothing new about her.

So many thoughts went through my mind. If Esther’s mother was also a believer, were there different types of believers?

Before long, Mum started attending their service and any time I wronged her, she would say I needed deliverance. I pleaded with her to take me with her to the church, so I could see Esther but she refused blatantly. Throughout that period, Uncle Rick still continued his ‘cleaning’ routine.

Few nights before I clocked 7, Mummy had gone for one of her prayer meetings and I was home alone with Uncle Rick and Grandma.

My uncle called me to his room. I thought it was time for his normal routine. However, when I got to his room, he asked me to lie down on his bed. I was scared, so I asked him what was wrong.

“It’s time to teach you something new.”

My eyes grew wide; “What things?”

“What I do with those girls that you see around the house.” He replied with a smirk on his face. I had seen him do a lot of things to understand him.

I shook in fear as tears rolled down my face. “Uncle, please.”

“My angel, it’s because I love you.”

I started crying loudly hoping to catch Grandma’s attention but I knew she might not hear due to her poor hearing ability. Plus she even sat outside the house where she was getting the cool breeze.

His face went hard and scary as he pushed me on the bed and started pulling my clothes up.

MY MOTHER IS NOT A MOTHER!

Written by Mercy Oluwafunmito Adebisi.

------

My name is Sharon and I put it to you today that my mother is not a mother!

Yes! She is not a mother. And as a matter of fact, she never wanted me in the first place.

I can’t recollect the number of times she told me I was bad luck.

On several occasions’, she told me I was a mistake that should never had happened.

I have never remembered her showing me a mother’s love; not even once. Well, except for when my Dad was still alive and that: when she knew he was watching.

But Daddy is long gone as he died when I was 4.

Weeks before he died, I heard he and my Grandmother (his mother) arguing. Grams had told him he should never have married my Mum and that I was only a means to an end for her since most people knew he adored children.

Grandma also told Daddy without both of them knowing I was eavesdropping that Mummy was only after Daddy’s money.

Yes, my Dad was rich. He bought me toys and took me out to big places but he almost had nothing to do with Mummy. Now that I think back, I wonder how they could call themselves a couple.

Daddy never failed as a Father; at least to me.

He protected me. He corrected and disciplined me when I behaved below his standard but he never took it lightly with my mother when she laid her hands on me.

He never trusted my mother with his riches and only gave her huge sum of money whenever she lied that she wanted to purchase things for me when all she cared about were her looks.

As for Grandma, she loved me for Daddy’s sake but she hated my Mother with passion. Mum would always say to my face that when my father dies, she would be the one in charge since all his properties could automatically belong to her. Only mummy was wrong.

Things didn’t go as she had thought and Oh, I suffered for it.

How and why did things change?

One afternoon, Daddy died in a hit and run accident.

He had taken me to the amusement park for sightseeing. On our way back home, I insisted I wanted to take Strawberry Ice cream so he stopped the vehicle and went across the road to an ice-cream stand.

While he was returning to the vehicle, he hadn’t notice an oncoming truck because he was looking at me: making sure I was not scared since he wasn’t there with me.

The truck hit him and knocked him down. He died almost immediately; in my presence. Daddy died because of me.

When Mummy heard of what had happened, she was angry. No; Furious!

She said ‘I killed her husband.’ Daddy hadn’t made a will that could have favored Mum since he sure wasn’t expecting he would die so soon. Grams and Daddy’s siblings eventually took control of all my Father had.

Grandma told my mother to leave the Mansion but gave her the option of leaving me in the families care. We both knew I couldn’t lack care and material things but Mum told them not to worry and that we would both see the bitter side of life together.

What a mother!

We left the mansion for my Grandmother and went to the house my mother grew up in with her parents. My Mother’s mother, Grandma Sarah was 74 years old and was very angry when she saw us.

She and my mother’s younger brother, Uncle Rick laughed my mother to scorn and asked her if she had already gathered enough wealth to last her a lifetime.

“Didn’t you say you would never come back to this God forsaken house? Why are you here?” My Grandmother asked her daughter in anger. After a lot of plea, Grandma allowed us to stay.

“At least you brought a beautiful damsel.” Uncle Eric commented. I wondered what he was implying.

“Rick, don’t you lay as much as your finger on my daughter. As you can see, she is a minor. Stay off!” Mum glared at him and he kept shut.

I WANT HIM BY FORCE.

You are a sister. For three consecutive weeks in September, you led the praise and worship in church.

Yes you can sing. Everybody knows that. You have such sonorous voice that leaves the congregation charged.

During the rehearsal on the first wednesday in October, the choir director chose two other members of the praise team to lead the praise and worship session for a special youth conference due the following week.

Usually, it wouldn’t have bothered you, since the beginning of the year, you’ve led at least a session of the worship in all the special programs in church. You understand that others should be given the opportunity to minister.

Well, this particular one got to you. You wanted to lead the praise team so bad. The moment the Choir director picked those two members of the choir, you became frustrated.

No way! You had to lead the praise team for this conference! Even if they decide not to give you another opportunity, you were fine as long as you got this one.

Why do 'you' want to lead the team at this Conference so bad?

SHORT STORY ALERT

Good evening Beloved and How was your day?

I have something for you this evening but before that I have something else to share with you.

It was around June/July 2018 when I had a not so pleasant experience because I let the wrong person in.

Trust me. It was a nasty one which my roommates and friends then would never forget.

It took God's intervention. That period was the first and the last time of my life I had something like an open Vision. God just had to step in.

I have for you this evening a short story that can be likened to what I experienced then. The story is not authored by me and I didn't even remember my own experience until some minutes before publishing this story.

This is a story that Fathers, Mothers and Children alike should read because I tell you when mine happened it was worse than what this story reflects, that my parents and Pastors were involved in full force. It took God's wisdom.

...May our sons flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars carved to adore a palace.

"He gave us promises Sweetheart." Megan said putting her left hand on her husband's shoulder and rubbing it slightly.

“So we just wait for her to pass?" He asked gravely.

“No.” She said firmly.

"We continue her treatment because there is work to be done. God knows what he is doing." She explained.

"You mean the biography?"

"Yes."

“Are we going to tell her?"

The tears were back now as she shook her head; "I don't know. John, I don't know."

He nodded and silence prevailed for some seconds as he watched his wife's face.

“How did I get blessed with a woman so strong ?" He asked with a thin smile.

Holding her husband's hand, she smiled through her tears and asked; "And how did I get blessed with an amazing husband and a girl who loves the Lord?"

He grinned at her without answering.

She continued; "Sweetheart, God is not leaving us in the dark in this matter. Things could have happened his way without us seeing it coming. He is an Unquestionable God. He doesn't need anyone's permission before he does things."

"But God told us." John completed with a nod.

"He told us and sweetheart, that means a whole lot to me." She said with a large smile through her tears.

He stood up and sat down beside her on the bed. "Come here, beautiful." He called as he pulled her into his embrace.

"It's going to be alright." He said, though more to himself than to his wife.

They prayed together and before they slept John told his wife he would wake up at intervals to check on their daughter.

Even if the size of the hospital bed was nothing compared to their bed at home, husband and wife slept holding each other.

They slept trusting that God had their best interest at heart.

His face was now lit up with joy; "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

“My daughter I am with you. No matter what people say, I am with you. You must tell all these to my son: John. You are one; so in telling you I have told you both.”

“Lord, letting a beloved go; letting a child go; it's not easy." Her eyes were once more stricken with tears.

He pulled her in for a Fatherly Embrace; "You have my comfort. For this loss, you will not only have double but triple blessings, even much more." Peace flowed like in like River across her heart taking with it her fears.

He released her, gave her a final pat on the shoulder and stood up. "Megan, my grace is sufficient for thee.”

She laid her right hand on her chest; "Amen. Lord, I receive.”

"You need to go back now. Don't forget any part of all I told you."

He gave her a hand and she stood up. "I won't Lord. I won't."

Then he smiled at her: A smile that held Love, Reassurance and with it a promise.

“Now go." He said and in response she walked out to the space between the columns.

She took few strides towards the door; stopped; looked back again: there he was, giving her a convincing smile that he would always be there for her, for John and for their daughter.

“My daughter Remember, I am with you." She heard audibly in her ears. She nodded and turned towards the door.

As she neared it, the door opened on its own accord again and she stepped out. It closed gently behind her.

As she walked down the path she had come, she sang softly; "Trusting as the moments fly; trusting as the days go by..."

Still singing, she walked towards a new dawn.

-------

John stood up from the chair that was positioned beside his daughter's bed and sighed in frustration. He walked towards the window blinds as he sent a silence prayer to God for help and divine intervention.

The machines connected to Sapphire had not stopped giving signs that the heart of the patient on the hospital bed was still beating normally. All her vitals were very much stable. She had been placed in a private ward on John's request.

His wife was still out in the next room. The doctor had said she was fine: her body needed rest as she had been stressed due to her state. He had been reassured she would wake up in a better state.

John was doing everything he could to encourage himself and not forget that God was in control. He knew no matter what may have happened or will happen one thing was constant: God would glorify himself. If asked how, He didn't know.

He had placed a call to their Pastor, and the Minister had promised to pray along and also check in at the hospital in the morning.

One thing was certain. He and his wife had each other, they had the members of their Church Family who he knew wouldn't relent in prayers, above all they had God: All would be well.

A knock at the door brought him back to the present so he was at attention by the time it opened and a nurse entered.

He looked at her questionably when he noticed she was smiling; "Sir, your wife is awake." He grinned widely at her words

"Thank you Jesus." He said as he walked past the nurse swiftly into the hallway. His wife's room was just two rooms away, so all he had to do was make a short walk.

The door was opened, so he walked in without drawing attention. Dr James was asking Megan some questions, while a nurse was helping her clean her face with a towel. It was then he noticed her face: She had been crying.

“Is she alright?" Three pair of eyes turned to look at him including Megan's.

"We didn't hear you come in." The wide-eyed nurse said.

"Yes, Mr Anderson. Your wife can be out of her bed tomorrow morning. No matter what happens, she is to stay in bed till then." The Doctor explained.

John moved towards the doctor; "As long as I'm here, she will. Thank you very much Doctor."

The Doctor gave him a slight pat on the shoulder; "You are welcome. I need to discuss with you so you both will have an understanding of what we are dealing with as regards your daughter."

At that point, Megan started weeping. John moved towards his wife who was still lying on the bed; "Please calm down."

The doctor felt sorry for them that he sighed; “It's going to be alright. I have to go home now but when I resume tomorrow morning, we will be having a discussion. We'll be talking in detail about her treatment. We have put that on hold till she's awake. I don't know why she is still unconscious but she is fine in there. I believe by tomorrow morning she will come around."

"Alright Sir." John said gratefully.

"I will be taking my leave now. Stay strong, Mrs Anderson. God is in control." Megan nodded in reply as he bade the couple 'Good night' and he stepped out.

"Well-done, its being a long evening." John heard the doctor say to his staff just before he closed the door behind him.

As soon as they were alone, John pulled a chair close to his wife's bed and sat down. He took her left hand in his hands; "Sweetheart, You scared me."

She blinked; "I'm sorry. I was just shocked."

"It's alright." He brought her hand close to his mouth and kissed it; “Sapphire needs us now than ever before. I can't cope if you fall sick on me."

"Yes, she needs us." She replied somberly.

He must have heard the urgency in her voice because he immediately called; "Megan..."

She cut him off; "Sweetheart, we need to talk; Like really talk."

He frowned: one that told her he didn't like the fact she was changing the topic. "You are right. Plus you haven't told me how you knew about the infection."

"Oh that? You got my phone?"

“Yes." Not letting go of her hand, he used his right hand to bring it out of his pocket.

"Check the last message. It was sent by Jane's mother."

John looked really dumbfounded as he unlocked the phone. "Wait a minute. Don't tell me Jane infected Sapphire." He now looked dazed and angry.

Megan nodded.

“Oh God.” He groaned as he searched for the message, found it and he read. Absentmindedly, he let go of his wife's hand.

Megan waited in silence to watch his reaction.

At first, there was a look of horror on his face; then fear.

Astonished, He looked at his wife; "This was what you dealt with on your own?”

She smiled weakly; "I didn't get to show you.”

“Lord have mercy." He said as he bowed down with his head on her bed.

"John, there is more." The tone of her words had him lifting up his head.

"I had a revelation. It was so real." That had him sitting up.

"Sweetheart, I need to sit up." She said as he stood up to give her a hand. He used the two pillows on the bed to support her back in a bid to make her more convenient.

"Thanks dear." She said.

He pulled his chair closer and sat down. "You have my attention."

Megan smiled; “John, I saw the Lord. I saw Christ..." She started and she didn't stop until she had told him everything: leaving nothing out.

John did not interrupt her. He just listened though his face showed his emotions.

“This is too much for me to take." His eyes glistened with tears.

Soon she was standing beside the row. She waited in silence.

Few seconds passed before he finally turned to look at her with a wide smile on his face. In response, Love swelled in her heart. It felt supernatural.

"I know you." She whispered.

"I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine." He said with a smile.

"John 10:14." Megan added being encouraged by his smile.

"Yes. My children know me. When a Believer leaves the world and come to the place I have prepared for all of mine; the moment he sees me, he doesn't need an angel to tell him 'This is your Lord.' Why?" He stopped for some seconds. "He knows me; his heart knows me; and he has fellowshipped with me." She nodded in understanding.

"Daughter, sit." He patted the space beside him and Megan moved from the spot where she had stood for minutes and sat quietly beside him.

“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward." He started as soon as she was seated. "Let's talk about Sapphire. How is she?"

Megan looked down and bite her lower lip awkwardly; "Lord, you know all things."

She heard him chuckle softly beside her; "Yes. But to you, how is she doing?"

She looked up to meet his eyes and saw one thing: Love. She was encouraged to speak; "As of now, all I know is she is infected. I don't know if it's going to be worse like Dorothy said. It's... " Her eyes was glistered with tears and she was struggling to keep her composure.

“Daughter, whose words are you to listen to?"

"Your word, Lord." She replied letting the tears slid down her face.

"Good. I have three questions for you." He said and she immediately nodded in anticipation.

"Do I love you?" He asked and watched as a look of surprise crossed her face.

She sat up straight. "Yes Lord, I have never for once doubted your love." The words were said with so much confidence that he smiled.

"Do I love Sapphire?" He asked without Megan failing to notice that his voice had tuned down a bit.

She nodded affirmatively with a big smile on her face; "Yes, with no shadow of doubt. "

"Now daughter," his face was now serious but the Love was still there in his eyes; "Can you trust me with Sapphire?"

Megan smiled nervously; "Sapphire has always been yours Lord." She paused and smiled broadly as beautiful recollections flooded her mind. "You gave her to us; you have kept and showed her your love right from her infanthood; you gave Sapphire an amazing knowledge of you. Lord, I have already trusted Sapphire to you. She is all yours as long as she lives and also eternally to dwell with you in heaven."

He smiled. "Yes I know." His face became serious once again. "Megan, can you trust her with me; to be with me a whole lot earlier than none of you ever thought or imagined?"

She looked at him in silence but she was clearly confused. He watched as she processed his question in her mind again.

Her eyes widened with understanding; "Lord..." That was all she could say before she started weeping profusely.

As she wept beside him, he put out his hand and patted her shoulders in a bid to comfort her.

She whimpered as she began to speak again; "Lord, you know the end from the beginning yet you have the power to heal her. Lord, I want that she be healed. I really do." She sniffled. "But Lord let your will be done. You know all things Lord. Let thy will be done." Even as she spoke she couldn't stop weeping.

He didn't stop patting her shoulders. "My Perfect Will Megan, is that Sapphire comes home. Let me remind you of the prayer I prayed at Gethsemane: 'Oh my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.' And God's will was that mankind be saved and without shedding of blood there will be no remission of sin."

"Everything that happens according to the Father's will is never a mistake. If anything happens to any of my sheep and it looks to you sons of men like a tragedy, it is not. The devil didn't succeed because nothing happens to my children without my permission."

“My ways are not your ways and my thoughts are not your thoughts.”

"I love you, John and Sapphire and I have your best interests at heart. I am interested in you enjoying all the benefits of being my sheep here on earth but I am much more interested in your getting to Heaven."

"I love my children so much that if calling any of them home early will save his soul from eternal perdition, I will not hesitate to do so. Megan, my will is that Sapphire comes home."

Megan understood so perfectly.

She sighed and even though it wasn't easy for her, she said; "Lord, thy will alone be done."

He smiled and nodded in approval before saying again; "Megan, note my next words very carefully." He paused for some seconds and continued when he saw he had her attention; "Have you ever heard of people who lived a short but impactful life? Sapphire will be one."

“Already she has impacted lives but there are more to be impacted.”

Megan was clearly surprised; "But, how Lord?"

He smiled; “Have you seen people whose translation caused souls to turn to the truth?"

Megan nodded.

“They in death won more souls for me than in living?"

"Yes." She answered quietly.

"Sapphire will be one." She now looked at him in awe.

"Megan, I will give you a sign. It will start with Jane and her parents, and then it will spread like wildfire. There are souls that will come to the truth by her translation."

"Jane?" She asked surprised.

"Yes, I want that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of truth."

"Yes." Megan said in agreement.

“I have an assignment for you. From this day, begin to make preparations to work on a biography for her; and one that you will write by yourself."

Megan had a look of horror on her face; "Lord, I am not a writer. I don't even have the natural ability."

He shook his head at her words; "You speak like Moses did years ago. I will help you daughter, because that biography will be published. I will breathe life into it and through those words men will be saved."

That settled, Megan was thinking about finances again.

He looked unhappy with her and with a firm voice he said; "O ye of little Faith. I will sponsor it my own way. This is the Father's business."

She nodded in submission.

Megan stood behind her husband in silence as they watched the doctor write a report in their daughter's Case note.

She could have caught her husband before the doctor went for him but she had needed a visit to the restroom.

She desperately wanted to show him the text message; to scream at the doctor to say whatever it was he was writing down but it was like her tongue was tied.

Dr James finished writing and closed the Case Note. “Mrs Anderson, please have your seat.”

“No. I prefer to stand.” She said with a forced smile on her face.

“Okay.” The doctor said as John looked up at her in concern.

“The thing is... ” The doctor was obviously careful with his choice of words.

"Please say whatever it is." She wanted to scream out. Dorothy must have lied.

“We conducted some tests on your daughter and the result is quite shocking.” The older man said and started tapping his pen on the case note nervously.

“Please doctor, what are you driving at?” John asked as Megan waited in silence.

“The truth is Sapphire..." the doctor kept quiet again, his eyes darting from husband to wife.

Megan couldn’t keep shut anymore; “...tested positive for Chlamydia.” She completed.

Both the Doctor and her husband
looked at her in shock.

"Positive for what?" John blurted out looking at his wife in horror.

“How did you know?” Dr James asked with jaw dropped.

John looked at the doctor in confusion; "What's going on?"

The look of shock on the Doctor's face was enough answer for Megan. “So Dorothy was right.”

Her head was pounding; Images were becoming fuzzy; the room was spinning all around her; and in seconds her feet gave way and she was down on the ground.

As she fought to stay awake, she heard the doctor and her husband scramble towards her. As the light faded and a tear slipped out of her eye, she whispered; “God, this is too much to bear.”

All that remained after that was darkness.

---------

Few seconds later with the sun shining brightly at the horizon, Megan walked down a pathway passaged with beautiful flowers.

She wondered what had happened and how she had gotten there.

She remembered being in Dr James' office with the doctor and her husband.

She remembered the fuzzy images, the spinning room and the darkness. But where was she?

Deciding to find out, she walked on until she came to a large clearing. There at the center of the Clearing was a building. Excitement bubbled through her: she wasn't there alone.

She took a step towards the building but stopped.

She looked at the building again. It looked like a Chapel and it felt strangely familiar.

She frowned thoughtfully. Where had she seen a Chapel like this before?

She blinked. The Hospital's Chapel? Yes, that was it. It looked exactly like the hospital's chapel but there was still something unique about the structure.

She took a curious step towards the Chapel and as if on cue, Soft music began to play from the building. She felt herself being drawn to it, so she just kept going.

The doors were closed but as soon as she was two feet from it, it opened of its own accord.

"Wonderful." She said as she stepped in. The door closed softly behind her.

She gawked in awe as she looked around the Chapel. Once again she told herself the place looked exactly like the Hospital's Chapel but here within the wall was a greater Glory and Power.

The music still played on, so she closed her eyes and tried to feel its melody around her.

"I have been waiting for you." A voice called from the front of the Chapel.

She was startled by the Authority and yet the Love in the Voice that she opened her eyes and looked towards that direction. Sitting in the third row of the middle column was a man.

Megan swallowed. That was exactly where she had sat in the hospital's chapel.

"Come." He said without turning to look at her.

Swiftly, her feet responded and she found herself walking towards the row. She couldn't wait to see who he was.

SAPPHIRE X

Chris walked back to his office in high spirit, whistling as he went. He couldn’t help but think back to the woman he had met at the Chapel and said few words of prayer for her.

He walked into the Laboratory as the Head of the Department was preparing to go out with a paper in hand. “Chris, you came at the right time. Kindly get this result to Dr James. He has been on lookout for it.”

“Alright Sir.” Chris collected the paper and turned back.

Few minutes later, he was knocking on the door to Dr James' office. The man himself opened the door as he was also about to step out.

“Good Evening Sir, I have a result from our HOD.” Chris said handing the paper over.

“Thank you.” Dr James collected it and immediately opened it.

Chris couldn’t help but stretch his neck in a bid to see the conclusions on the paper. He wondered what the test could be about, that His Boss had monitored it personally.

His eyes widened as he caught the name 'Megan' as the mother’s name of the patient and wondered if the woman he had just recently met hadn’t told him her name was Megan.

“This isn’t good.” Dr James said jolting Chris back. The young man's eyes darted quickly to the HOD's conclusion.

“Oh No!” he said even as the older man closed the result and looked outside the door thoughtfully.

“I need to see the parents.” Chris muttered under his breath.

Dr James walked past him and out of the office even as Chris turned and followed him at a distance. It couldn't hurt to confirm if his suspicion was right.

He watched as the Doctor called a man sitting at the reception.

“I don’t see the woman.” he breathed in relief as the doctor and the man returned to the doctor's office.

Gratefully, he turned to go back to the Laboratory. He had passed the doctor's office and was about turning into another hallway when his eyes caught Megan walking in hurry towards the office.

He stopped. "That's the woman."

He watched as she opened the door and entered.

“Oh God!” he whispered as he prayed the couple would handle the news well.

With a mental note to pray for the family, he rounded the corner and walked away.

“Trusting as the moments fly; Trusting as the days go by; trusting him whatever befall; Trusting Jesus that is all.”

Tears rolled down her face as she closed her eyes and listened as he sang through the four verses of the song.

After that, the man fell silent and just played the prelude. Seconds later, he suddenly stopped playing.

Megan opened her eyes to see he was now looking towards her direction. He had seen her. She sought for words to say but couldn't find any before he started playing the refrain again.

“Trusting as the moment fly,” he sang as his eyes encouraged her to sing along; “Trusting as the days go by; trusting him whatever befall; Trusting Jesus that is all.” She sang along in tears.

They sang the refrain one more time before they ended the song on a soft note.

“Thank you and God bless you.” Megan eventually said. At that moment, she felt like a river of peace had been unlocked within her.

The man smiled. “Amen.”

“Why did you come here?” She asked thoughtfully. “I mean what made you come here? You came at the perfect time.”

He chuckled at her look. “All the Glory is to God. I just felt the urge to spend my break time here. It has been a long time since I played the Piano.”

“Oh Wow.” Megan looked awed.

“You know what? I realized my fingers just played that song across the piano, so i just gave in. The truth is I couldn’t even control it.” He explained as he stood up and shoved his hands into his side pockets.

“That song is a message to me. Trust me when I say I am strengthened.” She said from where she sat.

“I’m grateful the Lord drew me here with a precious soul in mind.” He said walking towards her.

“I’m thankful the Lord is here with me.” Megan added smiling.

“Yeah! I need to go back to the Laboratory.” He said suddenly.

“Oh. I already concluded you were a Medical Doctor because of your white coat. Or do you just want to make a stop at the Lab? ” She asked.

The young man laughed. “My name is Chris. I’m a Lab Scientist.”

“I see. Don't let me be a bother. Take care of yourself.” She smiled as she waved him off.

“And you too.” He replied as he walked past her and out of the chapel.

“Thank you Lord.” Megan said and she stood up to leave when her phone chimed in her clutch purse.

She decided it could be a message from her husband so she hurriedly brought her cellphone out.

She was wrong. It was a message from an unknown number.

She sighed as she tapped on the message to view the complete text. She started reading.

“Hi. This is Dorothy, Jane’s mother.”

Megan paused.

Why would the woman contact her?

Had Jane told her parents what happened during Sapphire's visit?

She decided to sit back as the message was worth reading patiently. She continued;

“If I'm right, your daughter should be complaining of stomach pains, diarrhea and showing other symptoms by now.”

Megan frowned.

She read on; “Jane told me about what happened between her and Sapphire.” Okay, but what has that got to do with the stomach ache?

“My daughter had been having stomach issues and weeks ago we had to rush her to the hospital from her school. Aren’t you concerned that both girls are presently in a hospital?”

Megan felt blood drain from her face. Sapphire had mentioned something like that too. But how did Dorothy know Sapphire was presently in the hospital ?

She read the next line.

She blinked. That one line was enough to make her throw up.

“Jesus! Ha! No!” It couldn’t be. She had to read that line again.

No! Not her daughter.

“Megan, forget that one line for now. You need to finish reading this message.” She told herself.

She read on; “We wondered how Jane came about it and discovered that our Chauffeur, Seth had been having carnal knowledge of our daughter for sometime. Turned out he transferred it to my daughter and mine to yours. Infact Seth's family contacted us that he's dead." What?

"He didn't even know anything was wrong with him as the symptoms didn't show up early.”

No! It had to be a Lie.

Her head was throbbing heavily.

“I know you find this hard to believe but Sapphire has been infected. Please take care of her. We plan to fly Jane out for treatment as she showed symptoms really late and she is really deteriorating. Please contact us if you need any help.”

Megan dropped her phone on the floor in shock.

The woman had to have typed nonsense. Lies!

She bent down to pick up her phone and quickly grabbed her purse. Her eyes caught the piano at that moment as she remembered the moment she had spend talking with God and her encounter with Chris.

She shivered. She had to know what the doctors knew; not the lies Dorothy had sent her.

Yes! She had to know the truth. She would believe only the truth.

She stopped.

The truth? What if the truth was bitter?

Well, she just had to find out. She turned and walked briskly out of the Chapel.

Watch out for Sapphire X

“There was a lady who told her pastor that she loved a particular brother. The pastor and so many leaders tried as much as possible to dissuade this lady from the ‘risky’ love she was talking about especially when ‘better’ men had lined up for her. No one could tell her what the risk was but she was not bothered. She insisted that she had heard God and that she loved and was at peace with the brother. Fine. The brother had earlier told the pastor about his interest in the lady but that he had a health challenge that might hinder their union- he was impotent!”

“Wow!”

“That was what the pastors were trying to save her from but she didn’t know. And since she insisted, the church approved their courtship reluctantly. This guy told the lady about it at the inception of their courtship but she said it was small issue. Sexuality and procreation are at stake madam but sister was in love! She had peace!”

“Hmmmm”

“It was at the reception ground that the manhood of the man came back to life. They now have two sets of twins and a wonderful, godly, loving marriage.”

“Oh my God! Hallelujah! Wow! That is wonderful! Oh my God!”

“Yeah! That is a person’s story. If someone hears it now and an impotent man goes to propose to her, she would also say yes so that her story can be touching but that is not how it is! She would find herself getting married to a frustrated man with both of them creating a lonely home if God is not in it!”

“Hmmmm”

“Wait on the Lord to write your love story for you! No matter how simple you think it is, take it from the Lord. His story for your life is sound and perfect and do not need an editing!”

“Wow!”

“So, my Jane, who are you going to say an emphatic yes to?”

“Roland! It’s Roland!” Jane said excitedly, covering her face.

“Go for it, girl! May the love and the joy and the peace never die!”

“Amen! Amen, sis! Ah, thank You so much. I am so grateful. You do not know what you have done to me today. God bless you ma.”

“I have to be on my way now before my ‘twinses’ scatter the whole house for my husband”

“Yes you have to go….” Jane said and paused suddenly, covering her mouth, with shock written all over her face. “Don’t tell me you are the lady in the story of the impotent man and the two sets of twins.”

Sandra started to laugh as she moved to the door.

“Unravel the secret, my dear!” She said still laughing loudly.

“Oh my God! Unbelievable! Unbelievable!”

As Jane saw Sandra out to her car, Sandra turned to look into her face.

“I must be sure that you have a grasp of what we have discussed this evening. Can you give me a recap?”

“Yes sis” Jane said and swallowed. “The Will of God is not necessarily hard, unpleasant and difficult. To some, it would be ‘Thank You Lord, I love Your choice for me’ and for some, it would be ‘Oh Lord, help me in this decision making. Please Lord I can’t seem to accept this’ but in the end, after time has tested the ‘Voice’ and the Word has had it’s full course, love, joy and peace must have prevailed before tying the nuptial knots.”

“Oh my! I wouldn’t have said it any better my darling! Any other lesson?”

“Some would choose to marry the less privileged, less beautiful, less rich, everything less even though they do not love or have peace about such, thinking that, that is how the Will of God should be. They might be so wrong. While some would marry the same less person and meet the Lord in it all.”

‘Hmmmmmmm”

“Also, some others might decide to go for the rich, handsome, spiritual, someone who supposedly has it all but who they do not deeply love nor do they have peace about. They would have a terrible home. While some would marry such and meet the Lord in it all!”

“Hmmmmm”

“In the end, I have learnt that to test if what we have received is truly of the Lord, love, joy and peace must score high.”

“The love, joy and peace might not come initially but if towards your wedding time, these three are still not there, it might not just be him! It might not just be her!”

“Hmmm…”

“The Lord will help all of us to really wait on the Lord for everything that pertains to life and godliness for only Him knows the way.”

“Thank you so much ma.”

“I’ve got to go now. Have a wonderful evening my dear sister” She said, pecked her, entered her car and sped off.

Jane smiled largely as she watched her leave her compound. She heaved a sigh of relief.

“I’ve got to pray. I’ve got to thank God! Glory!”

THE END!

Sandra, her friend and a sister to Saul moves to her fridge, withdrew a bottle of chilled water and moved towards Jane again. She uncapped the bottle anthe bottle and passed the bottle to her.

“Take some water my dear friend." She said but Jane wouldn’t be appeased.

“Where am I missing it? Why am I this confused? Why is it hard to make a choice in this marital thing? Why am I so frustrated? Why am I…”

“When your whys become so many, watch it because ingratitude is already taking a hold you!” Sandra said and Jane shook her head.

“Do you know how many days I fasted and prayed just to know what the Lord’s mind is concerning my marriage?”

“Do I need to be told?”

“So, why am I still confused? Why hasn’t the Lord still spoken clearly?”

“Maybe the Lord has spoken clearly and you are too confused to see it. Not because the confusion is coming from the Lord because of course, the Lord is not an author of confusion but because you choose to be confused.”

“Oh, really? What does that mean?” Jane said, wiping the gathered clouds off her eyes. Sandra sat on the bed and stretched the bottle of water to her.

“Whenever I am confused, I move to my fridge if I have water inside and gulp a whole bottle of cold water down! By the time I am done, I would be too full to say foul words to the Lord! I would be too full to complain and murmur. I would be weak to my mouth and helplessly, I would cry, ‘Mercy, Lord. Mercy Lord’.”

“Hmmm” Jane sighed, collected the bottle of water and gulped down in a second. Sandra burst out laughing.

“That’s the spirit!” She said and lay on the bed.

“Talk to me now. Why are you lying down?”

“I will. When you become too weak to murmur and complain, call me, I will speak with you then” Sandra said. Jane looked forlorn for a while, slapped her stomach twice but she didn’t seem to be satisfied.

Getting up, she moved to the fridge, picked three bottles of cold water and moved to the settee. She gulped the content of the three bottles down till she was breathing hard. She would belch and gasp again. She crashed further into the settee, rubbing her protuded tummy.

“Oh Lord!” She moaned uneasily. Sandra smiled and sat up.

“I think you are weak enough now, so I can talk and you will listen!” She said and Jane nodded.

“Let us see if the Lord is the cause of your confusion or you, yourself” Sandra said, pulled a chair to her front and started.

“How does the Lord speak to you?”

“Through my dreams. I also have deep impressions in my spirit.”

“Who are the major guys causing you confusion?”

“Bro Saul and Bro. Roland”

“And they have both proposed to you?”

“Yes”

“Why are they making you confused?”

“Bro. Roland is every lady’s dream. He is rich, spiritual, handsome and influential. I am afraid that I might be attracted to him because of all these.”

“And Saul?”

“He’s been a mentor since I was a youth. He is very strict, talented and spiritual. If the Lord has revealed me to him, then, he might be correct. He is very spiritual and he hears God but I am not seeing him.”

“Through the ways God speaks to you, have you heard or seen anything about Saul?”

“Yes. I dreamt about him when I was in the second year at school. We were married obviously and were in a matching ankara attire. On a closer look at him though, the hair on his head was ruffled and his own attire tattered. When I called his attention to it, he started beating me till I started gasping for breath. Then I woke up.”

“Hmmm! And the impression in your heart?”

“Anytime I think about him, I am very afraid. When I imagine us together, I get irritated. It is not intentional because I tell the Lord about my feelings. I tell Him to make me love him and give me peace yet, I become troubled and irritated.”

“Hmmm…And Bro. Roland?”

“I had a dream about him when I was serving. I had not met him before but in that dream, I saw him. I was very tired from the heat of the parade and decided to crash to the ground. He walked up to me, shook hands with me and smiled. That smile gave me immediate strength. ‘Hey Jane, howdy? My name is Roland’ He said and I woke up. At the fellowship in the evening, the president of the fellowship was introduced to us as Bro. Roland. Alas, it was the same man I had seen in my dream!”

“Hmmmm. Any deep impression?”

“When I started praying about marriage last year, his picture kept coming to my mind. I would be praying about Bro. Saul but I would be seeing Bro. Roland. I fell completely in love with him though we were states apart. Last month as he was transferred to our state, I was shocked to see him in church and I just love to see him.”

“So, do you love Bro. Saul?”

“Yes but not as a man, my man!”

“Do you love Bro. Roland?”

“I absolutely do but…”

“But what?”

“I have phobia for fine guys. Plus, people would think I am saying yes to him for his money and influence. Who am I?”

“Do you have peace about Saul?”

“No, I don’t. I try to but…”

“Do you have peace about Roland?”

“I am at peace with him, I must be very sincere with you.”

“So, isn’t it sure that the Lord has spoken to you?”

“I know but I am confused. I am greatly indebted to Bro. Saul. He brought me up in the way of the Lord, he has so many challenges in his health and finances and I would have loved to be a helper to him in those areas.”

“You are the source of your own confusion! You want to marry my brother out of pity and indebtedness?”

“Well, I just even realized he was the one who donated his kidney to…”

“Please can you get your acts together sis? Wasn’t the donation legal? Wasn’t he paid heavily? Why should such a thing hook you down? See my sister, when a man starts to use threats to hook you down, flee for your life! He says you are becoming too old; that you are an ingrate; that he has just visions and no plans for tomorrow; that if you miss him, you miss all chances and you tremble because of all those and tie the nuptial knots with him? I pity you!”

Jane burst into tears, looking into Sandra’s face like a lost, helpless lamb.

“I hear so many pastors and evangelists praise their spouses for staying with them when all they had was a vision instead of going for the rich guys. I want that kind of testimo…”

“So, the sisters who marry the rich, godly guys are carnal? No two love stories will be exactly the same! Go and ask the evangelists and pastors you are talking about if the woman simply trusted the vision they had. No! Their women must have loved them in their poor states! They cherished them! They had peace about them and that was why they could lay down their lives and future just for them!”

“Hmmmm”

“The Fruit of the Spirit is what?”

“Love”

“And then?”

“Joy”

“And then?’

“Peace”

“When you have had dreams, visions, deep impressions, whatever, then, try those convictions with the Word of God”

“Okay?”

“Do I love him? Am I proud of him? Can I show him off to my friends with all his flaws and imperfections. The Bible says I should submit to him as unto the Lord. Can I submit to this one? Can I honor him? Can he really be a head to me? Can he be a good role model to our children? Am I always excited to see his calls? Does he leave me better than he met me? Am I at peace or am I scared when I am with him?”

“Hmmmm”

“Give it time. Time tests everything. When you see that none of these is positive towards the supposed brother, be very careful!”

“Hmmm!”

“The era of men using coercion and spirituality to arrest sisters is over! Do not fall into that pit!”

“Hmmmm”

“Some people see you get married to someone from another tribe or someone who is not able to afford a square meal; or someone who shakes the whole pulpit when preaching and praying; or someone who has one health challenge or the other and they conclude that you are in the midst of God’s Will.”

“Hmmmm”

“I come here to tell you that yes, it can happen that way but it is not in all cases! You might be married to someone who is physically sound, eloquent, rich from your tribe and it would still be the Lord’s Will!”

“Wow! I didn’t know. I thought I must really struggle with God’s Will. It should make me sad for a while and after a while, I would shrug and surrender to God, asking Him to make both of us compatible!”

“You are wrong! And that is the problem we are having in the church today. You get married to someone because you want to tell a story of how you made a huge sacrifice to be with someone you didn’t love but that God gave to you and you end up creating a total marital chaos! This should not be!”

“Hmmmm”

“No matter who the person is, no matter what he has or doesn’t have, as long as you do not love him neither are you at peace with him, you must have a rethink! Except you are not a child of God! Except you do not have the Holy Spirit within you! Except you do not know your rights in Christ!”

“Hmmmm…I can feel peace all over me. I can feel joy! I can feel freedom! Thank You Jesus!” Jane said loudly, tears rolling down her face.

LORD, IS IT HIM? (A CHRISTIAN LOVE STORY)

Written By: Lizzy Oyebola Yakubu

“Sister, hello sister, can you hear me?”

“Yes I can. Good evening Bro. Saul”

“But Sister, why are you treating me like this? When are you going to give me an answer to my request? When?”

“I gave you the answer already Brother. My answer is `no’”

“Why sister, why? Am I not good enough? Sister, why are you…”

“Bro Saul, please don’t try to coerce me. I have prayed to God and He has not given me a go-ahead!”

“I know your type! You are proud and pompous because of your beauty, right? Sister, beauty is vain o! It is vain! See yourself in the mirror every day you wake up, do you look younger? You will be twenty eight! Twenty eight my sister!”

“Bro. Saul, to what do I owe this call? You want to remind me of my age or you…”

“Marry me! The Spirit of the Lord says marry me! Do so fast before you lose a very great…”

“Bro. Saul, thanks for your call. I…”

“I have handed you over to my God! He will personally deal with you! Why nah Sister Jane? Why? Don’t you have human feelings at all? I have waited this long for you…”

“Why did you wait when I had already told you an emphatic ‘NO’?”

“But why did you give me an emphatic ‘no’? Don’t you know it’s the Lord that sent me? If you do not say yes to me, you will remain single for life. You will never be able to get to where God wants you to get to. You will be…”

“Ah ah, Brother Saul, are you threatening or cursing me?”

“I am not. The Lord is in this case, so why should I threaten you? But why sister? I am tall, dark and handsome. I also have pink lips. What else do you want?”

“Bro, see…”

“Is it because I am not rich? Because I do not have a job of my own? Sister, the future is bright! You shouldn’t judge me as…”

“Bro. Saul, I am not judging you. You are one committed, wonderful brother. When you proposed to me, I took out time to pray sincerely but the Lord said no. I know who my husband is and…”

“Bro. Roland abi? I know it’s Bro. Roland! Do you know how many sisters want to marry Bro. Roland? So, you have also joined the queue, abi? You want to have many rivals right? Continue wasting your life! Just continue! Because a brother works with Chevron and uses a Rangerover, you are dying for him, right?”

“Bro. Saul, those things are good but they are immaterial! I do not love Bro. Roland for what he has but for who the Lord has told me he would be to me. I am…”

“So I am so correct that it is this Bro. Roland! Ah! I pity you”

“If that would be all sir.”

“Before you drop that call, listen attentively! I don’t know if it is my financial state or the goiter on my neck or my pot belly that is chasing you away from me. But you can’t totally run away from me! I am yours and you are mine! You will be an ingrate to choose any other person over me.”

“Ingrate? I do not understand”

“You were dying at the hospital two years ago and needed a kidney. Do you know who donated his kidney to you? Do you…”

“Impossible! You?”

“Yes, it was me! I told the hospital to keep it a secret from you so I can tell you on our wedding night but you are here saying that you will carry my kidney to another man’s house? Lailai!”

“I didn’t know that…”

“Now you know! Go and take your time to pray again! It is me, not Bro. Roland! If you are grateful, say yes to me! If you believe in my glory and destiny, say yes to me! If you do not want to be single, cold and lonely forever, say yes to me! If you are not judging me by the goiter on my neck and the pot belly I have, say yes to me! Pray again Sister Jane or I hand you over to the sovereign God!”

“Bro Saul, I…” Jane was going to say when Saul dropped the call. Jane’s throbbing head gave way as she burst out crying loudly, wailing uncontrollably.

Megan entered the Building noiselessly and looked around. She sighed in relief when she realized she was the only one inside the Chapel. Immediately she stepped in, she felt herself relaxed and wondered why.

The sanctuary was beautiful no doubt but there was something about the atmosphere.

It felt Divine.

For the next few minutes, she could talk to her Heavenly Father without any distraction. She could cry her heart out if need be.

Yes! She was very much in God’s Presence.

She looked around the building as it was the first time she would step foot in it. She had always known the hospital had a chapel but never had any reason to enter the building; until that moment.

She noted the fact that the Benches were arranged in three Columns, with the middle one directly opposite the Pulpit.

She moved towards the left and the middle column, and eventually found herself walking between the two columns. Silence prevailed in the building save for the sound of the heel of her flat sandals against the tiled floor. She walked towards the altar determinedly but stopped few rows away from it. She turned and slowly entered the third row of the middle column. As soon as she hit the bench, she felt tears roll uncontrollably down her face.

Staring at the altar in silence, she said; “Lord, I’m sorry but I’m scared.”

“I’m scared the doctor will say my girl is really sick.” She closed her eyes as if in pain.

“I’m afraid of what those test results will reveal.” She sobbed.

“Lord, I’m afraid because…” She let her voice fade out.

I’m listening, daughter. Why are you afraid?

“Lord, I’m sorry but I feel like this is happening because of what happened between my daughter and Jane.” She sniffed.

Megan, Sapphire is forgiven.

"I, even I, am he who blots out
your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more ..."

For I have forgiven her wickedness and I remember her sins no more."

“I’m sorry Lord. I shouldn’t allow fear in the first place.”

Yes. Remember "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." Sound Mind is what I have given to you.

Peace is what I have given to you.

“Yes Lord, I need Peace. I have another precious gift of yours in my womb."

"Lord, I feel weak. I need your Strength.” She cried out.

My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.

She then committed all into God’s hands: asking him to take control of whatever would be happening.

Unbeknownst to the interceding mother, a young man walked into the Chapel using the door on the Right hand side of the building. He could easily pass off as a Medical Doctor since he had a White Coat draped over his T-Shirt.

He walked towards a Grand Piano that was settled at the front of the Right Column: which was the left hand side for anyone who stood on the altar and faced the pew.

A stool was positioned in front of the large instrument, so he eased himself gently onto the stool and struck a key on the musical instrument.

Megan had just rounded up her prayer when she heard the sound.

In surprise, she lifted up her head and saw him. She wondered how he had come in without her hearing his footsteps.

She gently relaxed. At least she had enjoyed the space she needed.

She sat for some seconds watching his every move. He obviously had difficulty deciding what to play. By his demeanor, He didn’t know someone was watching him. He probably thought he was alone in the building.

Megan was feeling better, so she cleaned her face with her handkerchief and stood up to go. Dr James should have gotten something to tell them by now.

“Simply Trusting Everyday;” the young man started as he played along.

Megan stopped.

“Trusting through a stormy way; even when my faith is small; Trusting Jesus that is all.”

She didn’t know when she hit the bench back.

As she cleaned her daughter, she prayed silently but couldn’t help but wonder when John would arrive.

Megan had just finished throwing the water she used away and was returning to her daughter’s side when John rushed in.

She watched in silence as he checked their daughter’s pulse and without much ado lifted the girl up his shoulders and hurried outside the house.

Megan rushed after him with her Clutch Purse in hand. She locked the door behind her and assisted him in positioning their daughter in the backseat of his vehicle. Husband and wife got in the car hurriedly and the vehicle was soon out on the road. It was with no little prayer they got to the Hospital they frequented as a Family.

John had already called their Family Consultant ahead so it was no surprise that Dr James was waiting at the entrance of the Emergency Ward with a gurney and two other ER nurses when they arrived.

The nurses assisted in getting Sapphire out of the car and in settling her on the gurney. The couple held hands as they watched their daughter being wheeled off by the nurses even as the Doctor promised that all was going to be well.

Dr James soon returned minutes later to inform them she was stable but they had to run some tests to find out was wrong. John hurried to make payments for the tests and as soon as he returned to the Reception and sat down beside his wife, she shifted towards him silently.

He looked up at her face and he guessing her silent plea to be held, reached out to her with his right hand and pulled her to him.

She laid her head on her husband’s chest quietly: Closing her eyes to savor the moment.

“How are you feeling?” He asked quietly.

She sighed with her eyes still closed. “Strangely tired.”

“We’ll be fine. Sapphire is fine.” He reassured as he rubbed her shoulder with his free hand.

Thirty minutes went by but neither had Dr James nor any of the nurses approached them.

Megan opened her eyes; “I don’t think i can sit here not knowing what’s going on.”

“Hmmm.” John murmured quietly.

“Can I go to the Hospital chapel?” She asked without turning to look at his face.

“Need to consult the Greatest Authority?” He asked softly.

“Something like that.” She replied.

“I would never stop you, he gave you to me.” She heard a smile in his voice so she slowly lifted her head off her husband’s chest and looked at him. He was grinning widely.

“What is it?” She asked.

“You look beautiful for a strangely tired woman.”

She blushed. She moved to ease out of his hold.

“Not so fast, beautiful.” Confused, she looked up at him but before she could ask him what he meant, he leaned in and brushed his lips against hers: so quick it could be missed by the people around them.
She smiled as he loosened his hold on her. “Go talk to Our Father.”

She nodded as she stood up.

“We’ll have our own talk here. Someone needs to be around when the Doctor comes for us. I will find you when he comes out.” He added tiredly.

“Thank you.” She replied before walking away.

SAPPHIRE IX

Episode 9

Sapphire crawled out of her bed with tears fighting its way out of her eyes. Immediately after her lunch, she had retired to her room for her siesta so she could work on her assignments later in the evening.

As she walked out of her room, she clutched her stomach in pain while also listening for movements to know exactly where her mother was around the house.

“In here.” Megan called from the living room having heard a door being opened and shut.

A tearful Sapphire walked into the room noting the fact that her mother was listening to a sermon on her phone.

“Mum;” She called with croaked voice.

“Hope you slept well?” Megan asked as she looked up at her daughter. She stopped. “Have you been crying?”

“My stomach hurts.” Sapphire replied, tearing up even more.

“Sorry dear; Come sit beside me.” Megan patted the space beside her as she watched her daughter take forced steps towards her. “When did you start feeling uncomfortable?”

Sapphire coughed before answering. “Since daybreak.”

Megan didn’t like that. “You should have told me.”

“I’m sorry Ma. I just felt I would be relieved in no time. I was wrong. I have had to go to the restroom thrice today. I feel so sick.” She explained.

Mother and daughter kept quiet for sometime as Sapphire shifted uneasily beside her Mother. “Mum, something doesn’t feel right.”

Megan looked confused and Sapphire sighed quietly before speaking on. “Jane had to leave school two weeks ago because of stomach pain. She was weeping profusely.”

Megan stared at her daughter with squinted eyes. “What do you mean?”

“Never mind. It’s just...” She couldn’t help but wonder if the stomach pain had anything to do with what had happened between her and Jane weeks ago.

“Where exactly does it hurt you?” Her mother asked interjecting her thoughts.

“Here.” She replied as she absentmindedly directed her right hand towards the lower part of her waist.

Megan stretched forth her hand. “Here?” She suddenly applied pressure on the spot.

“Mum!” Sapphire screamed out loud and fell against her mother. Megan’s heart thumped.
“Sapphire.” She called in misery.

No response.

She waved her right hand over the child's face to confirm her suspicion. Her daughter was out.

Scared out of her wit, she laid the girl down on the settee with her face up. She hurriedly picked up her phone and called her husband’s office line.

“Sweetheart, Sapphire blacked out.” She said as soon as she knew he was listening.

“What happened?” He asked with a calm voice.

Megan moved to stand directly under the ceiling fan as she was suddenly feeling hot. “She told me she had stomach pain, diarrhea and... and…” She stammered.

“Sweetheart, I need you to calm down.” He whispered.

“I…”

“Think of the child you are carrying. You need to stay calm.”

Megan sighed. No wonder she was feeling hot and dizzy. She had almost forgotten she was weeks gone.

John continued; “You are frightened; I can hear it in your voice. Your hands are probably so sweaty by now.”

Megan looked down at her hands. He was right. "You guessed right.” She whispered.

“Well, I…” He started to say when she cut in again. “John, Sapphire also said she was feeling sick and…”

“Megan;” He called.

“Yes.” She was on the verge of tears now.

“Are you okay?” He asked softly.

“I don’t know. I’m feeling hot and dizzy. John, please come home.”

“Alright. I will be with you in less than 5minutes. Stay calm sweetheart. Sapphire will be fine.” He said as she listened to his movements at the other end. He asked her to get dressed before he got back.

“Alright.” She replied as she ended the call.

She looked at her daughter’s still body anxiously before hurrying towards the bedroom she shared with her husband.

In less than a minute, she was back in the sitting room. She moved to adjust her daughter’s clothing when she realized the girl was burning up. She hurried to Sapphire’s room and soon returned with her towel and a basin of water.

10/10/2013 (UNDER THE TREE)

I started crying again.

What should I do then?

Say a ‘no’ when the wedding is here?

What about our friends and families that have gathered from all over the world to celebrate with us?

What about the foods and the drinks?

The souvenirs, the aso ebi and my bridal train?

How would my family and his bear the shame of a cancelled wedding?

Lord, how? Why? What way should I convey this to our families and to him?

When you get to that river, you will see that a bridge has been placed over it which will lead to a better day.

He said but I screamed aloud.

“Lord, why couldn’t You stop me? Why did You bring me this far to disgrace me? Why Lord, why?” I cried out at once.

Emmy had come back to her senses and was all over me, holding me and consoling me.

Sometimes when God is trying to put off some fire that had started in our lives, we bring fuel from nowhere, push Him off the way and set ourselves on fire till we have no choice again that to shout His Name!

I heard His Spirit speak to me but I couldn’t bear it anymore! It was just too late!

If it is not too late to turn away at the aisle, it is not too late to turn back from the road!

“Oh Lord! Oh no!” I struggled with my soul. As if Emmy could hear what was going on, she was crying profusely andrepeating ‘Mercy, Lord!’

‘The shame Lord! The shame!’ I cried again, feeling so frustrated. Catarrh had even blocked my nose. My eyes had shed so much tears that there was no more water in them!

“But I clearly heard a ‘yes’ from the Lord! I heard it!” I argued and Emmy came close and laid her hands on my shoulder.

“Balaam also heard a yes from the Lord. A yes which wasn’t from the Lord but from himself!” She paused and I sighed.

“After hearing a solid No from the Lord with the explanation that the Children of Israel were blessed and couldn’t be cursed by anyone, he still decided to ask God again after considering the lot of goodies that Balak had sent me plus the honorary positions he had promised him if he could only curse God’s children. He heard a yes then but it wasn’t the Good Will of God. It was His permissive Will!” She said and I was wondering why she was just telling me.

A closer look into her eyes made me understand that she wasn’t actually the one talking to me. She was the vessel God was using for me. I was sweating profusely.

You have set up your idols in your heart and put the stumbling block of your iniquity before your face before even going on your knees to pray to me! I the Lord answered you according to the multitude of your idols!

I remembered those verses in the Bible (Ezekiel 14:1-4) and I shuddered as I cried to no avail. I looked up at Emmy and nodded. I walked up to the driver who was cleaning his engine-oil stained hands and smiled ruefully.

“This car wouldn’t start” He said dejectedly and I smiled again.

“The wedding has been cancelled” I said and he gave me a look as if to ask if I was crazy.

“During the reception, the pastor can conduct both the wedding and the luncheon together. Don’t worry. God understands why all these happened” He said and I nodded.

Only Emmy and I knew how God had dealt with me under the tree.

I entered the jeep which started immediately the key was turned and I sighed. It was then I realized that it was God that had been stopping the cars and the tyres like He stopped the ass that was conveying Balaam to Balak.

To think that I had gone through 6 months courtship with the wrong man!

Oh God!

1/3/2013 (IN A ROOM)

“Lord, its Dave. Its Dave I want Lord” I had kept on praying. I had heard that God grants the desires of a righteous man.

I had also read in my Bible that the effectual, fervent prayer of the righteous man availeth much.

What about the verse that said I should decree a thing and it shall come to pass?

“Dave Lord, grant my desire! Show me a sign about Dave Lord. Give me a ‘yes’ Lord” I kept praying.

“Joe. Not Dave” I heard and I covered my ears and wept bitterly.

It was the second time God would tell me ‘Joe’!

But Dave was just the best! Every quality that I desired in a man was all embedded in him!- he was a muscular, dark, tall, hairy, well spoken, well educated, independent, caring guy with a posh car, a spiritual countenance and contagious graces.

Dave, it must be!

I had never seen Joe as a husband material for me. We had been friends for a long time and I liked him as a friend- nothing more!

Joe was a very God-driven man who prayed so fervently. It was actually his spirituality that threw me off as I knew that marrying him would mean that I would become a pastor’s wife!- a role I would never want to assume!

I loved spirituality but not deep spirituality like that!

“Lord, Dave, Dave Lord!” I had prayed for the third time and I heard a bigger ‘No!’

As I gave the ‘No’ answer to Dave, he couldn’t bear it! He was obviously shaken and I wished he could see my heart- he could see that it wasn’t that I wanted to do wickedly but it was just God’s decision.

“God didn’t agree” I said and my spirit smote me that I hadn’t explained in the best way.

That I was supposed to explain to him that the Almighty God who knew us both and what was each best for us had seen the past, the present and the future of us and had said we wouldn’t be good together.

“But, you love me, don’t you?’ He asked and I blinked hard to avoid the tears.

“Of course I do” I said and the Lord ministered to me then that I should have avoided the question. I should never have answered.

“Then pray more June. Love is all that matters. You love me, I love you more, that’s all that matters. Why don’t you pray more? Why don’t you ask God again?” He asked and I sighed.

Love is all that matters only if the Love is towards God and not towards your body. If your body is what he or she loves, any change in that well graced body would send him/her packing!

A man that loves God genuinely will love you genuinely!

If you mary someone that cajoles you to forget about what you can hear God telling you loud and clear, you will be sorry afterwards!

Those were the things that God dropped in my heart after he had said it but I was intrigued by the love that Mr Perfect professed towards me that I couldn’t think right.

“Don’t you think you are being overly sensitive? The will of God is for Christians to marry Christians. There is no problem afterwards. Or do you also believe that God can tell you his name, show him his face or stuffs like that? As long as we are compatible, what else?” He asked and I frowned a bit.

Of course I believed that God can show me anything I want to know about the man He wants me to marry if I but ask but I just couldn’t say anything. I didn’t want him to call me a fanatic or stuffs like that.

“Immediately we get married, we are going to Dubai immediately. I can see that you love writing so well, see I will sponsor you! You want to be a professor, I will make sure you reach that height! Just say ‘yes’. Just pray again!” He said and I swallowed.

I had always heard about men who after their marriages to talented people end their carreers and ministries. Hearing from a man what every lady would want to hear made my tummy jump for joy.

Who else would provide me these juicy opportunities?

“Let me ask God for the last time and I would get back to you” I finally said and we left the amusement park that day looking so sad.

I got home, went on my knees and before I could even open my mouth to pray, very loud in my eyes, I could see ‘Yes!’.

I opened my Bible and the verse I saw was ‘…Yea and Amen!’

My sister came in that time, a song playing from her phone rung in my ears, my spirit, my soul- ‘I’d say yes Lord, I’d say yes, I surrender to Your Word, to the truth that I have heard…’

I rose up instantly and thanked the Lord for answering my prayers.

About a month and few days later, I asked that we meet at a restaurant where I gave him my ‘yes’.

10/10/2013 (ON THE ROAD)

“Baba, how can two tyres be faulty at the same time? Isn’t there something to do?” I asked, very confused and sad.

I checked the time again and it was very late. The road was very deserted as our vehicle had stopped in the middle of tall and thick bushes.

Every car I stopped either zoomed off without listening to me or stopped to tell me they weren’t going my way.

“I checked all the tyres before leaving home, sincerely. Even daddy inspected and we pumped the tyres before coming. I can’t place what could have happened to the tyres. I can’t” The driver said, beads of sweat forming on his face.

Tears had formed in my eyes as I muttered some words of prayers to God for mercy. I saw a bike approaching just then and I waved it down. I was glad that it stopped and even decided to take me to the church.

My dress had become so dusty and my hair was scattered by what was all those compared to the joy that would follow our wedding?

We hadn’t gone for more than five minutes when the bike also stopped- the tyre had burst suddenly. I was alarmed as I watched the deflated tyre immediately I disembarked from the bike. He started fixing the tyre too. I check the time- eleven!

Ah! I exclaimed and started crying. We had prayed against all forms of disappointments and what was this?

Soon, dad’s driver came again and I looked up with joy as I wiped my face. The jeep had been fixed!

My chief bridesmaid, Emmy helped me enter the car and pecked me comfortingly. I sighed and gasped for air to sooth my dry throat.

As Emmy was arranging my scattered hair again, the jeep stopped suddenly again- the four tyres had deflated.

“Please call the church if they can send another car” Emmy said, obviously disoriented too.

“My phone is dead. The last time I called the pastor, he said they had sent three cars already but one has been involved in an accident while we haven’t even see the other two” He explained and my head couldn’t stop spinning.

I picked up my phone too and it was dead! I thought it was 100% just now?!

“Let’s use the car charger then” Emmy suggested and I nodded. I had forgotten that option.

“Ah, I think the car charger was left at home o.” He said after searching the whole compartments for it.

I had no choice than to jump down the car so he could repair the tyres again! I went under a tree and couldn’t stop crying.

“See dear, let’s pray. I believe that when we pray, something great will happen” She said and I relunctantly gave my hands to her as we started praying.

“Lord, why is all these happening? You know about this whole thing. You gave Your permission to enter this relationship, so why?” I started crying as Emmy started praying and suddenly grew very cold that she fell on her knees, still holding my hands!

I was used to having Emmy fall into trances and see revelations but why must it be today? Under this tree?

What’s all these??

“No!” I heard the familiar voice- the Voice God uses to talk to me. I could hear it from Emmy. But the voice was different from Emmy’s!

“No?” I asked and I heard it again.

“No!”

The second ‘No’ brought me to my knees as I remembered fully well where I had heard that word spoken to me by God less than seven months ago.

SAPPHIRE EPISODE 9

Good evening Beloved and how has been your day?

My people, i hope you still remember the storyline.

Anyways, in the previous episode we saw how Mrs Smith wondered how Sapphire and Jane were having the same health issues just two weeks apart.

This episode clears our doubts about some people who think Sapphire's complaints may be signs of Puberty.

This episode reminds us of times when we might need to come out of the jostles of the day to pour our heart out to our Father.

We get to also observe and learn from the Love and Understanding shared by the Anderson Couple.

And lest I forget, we get to learn about what's really going on with Jane.

It's Thrilling, Inspiring and Soul Lifting.

Sapphire IX will be posted in few minutes. Be on lookout.

Please help me pray I don't get banned by anti-spam bot after this post oo. I don't know what went wrong. Just a post and I got banned.

Anyways, I'll be back soon...
