TemplarLandry: US that gives billions of dollars as foreign aid to countries every year. You want to compare to Nigeria?! They're free to do as they please. They can buy everyone if us. You've also failed to tell us that the Market cap of a single company in US, APPLE or Microsoft is more than all the companies in Nigeria put together. 2 Likes |

The best thing at the moment is to keep saving and keep money handy for a perfect opportunity. I still don't think this is the best time to DCA. The market is still tanking. It ran to fast up within a short time. I think this is expected. The next saving grace would be the anticipated rate cutting, hopefully in September. |

Politics / "Think Twice: Why Protesting Now May Not Be The Best Move For Nigerians" by Penboy: 4:03pm On Jul 29 |
My fellow Nigerians and fellow sufferers of the hardships currently plaguing our country, largely due to the actions of those in power. I understand that emotions are running high, and it is difficult to remain logical at this time. It is within our rights as citizens to peacefully express our grievances. However, I urge each of us to carefully consider our actions before it is too late. Here are some reasons why you should reconsider joining this protest: 1. Historical Perspective: Reflect on the outcomes of past protests. The #EndSARS demonstration is a poignant example. What has become of those who genuinely lost their lives? Who remembers them now? Only their loved ones still mourn, while the country has moved on. Your loved ones need you more than ever in these challenging times. Do not risk your life in a potentially fruitless battle. 2. Absence of Politicians: The politicians you are protesting against have likely already booked flights out of the country with their families. They will watch from afar as chaos unfolds. When the dust settles and innocent lives are lost, they will return to maintain their positions of power. 3. Repetition of Past Mistakes: It is ironic that those who supported the current administration are now urging you to protest with them. When you warned them about the potential consequences of their vote, they did not listen. Now, they want to drag you into another futile endeavor. We must be smarter and preserve our energy for the upcoming elections. 4. Potential for Violence: Unlike in the West, peaceful protests in Nigeria and many parts of Africa often end badly. Even in the West, protests sometimes result in casualties. While only God knows the future, the wise see danger and avoid it. We can prevent the potentially disastrous outcome of this protest by not starting it. Hoodlums may hijack the protest for their own purposes. Let us not give them that opportunity. The Best Way to Protest The most effective way to revolt against the current administration is to vote them out in the next elections. Keep your voter card ready. It is clear who should be voted for or against based on recent experiences. It is okay to be hurt and to heal from it. We have seen our mistakes and learned from them. Learning from them means not repeating them at the next polling unit.
