Politics / Let Us Love One Another by PENIEL2018(m): 7:58am On Jul 07, 2021
Your fellow Southerner is in a position to give you employment.

You go to him for employment.

You speak good English and write an excellent application letter to impress him.

He tells you to bring your qualifications.

You bring your First Degree (First Class or second class).

He tells you to go and do your Masters and even PhD for you to get the job.

ON THE OTHER HAND

A Northerner is in a position to give employment.

A northerner goes to him.

He speaks Hausa to him.

He tells him to bring his qualifications.

He brings a third class degree or an SSCE with two Credits.

He gets the job and saves money to further his education.

He gets a Masters Degree while doing the job.

Tomorrow, he is appointed as Executive Director.

Ten years Later, he becomes Chairman or DG of the Agency.

The Southerner sees this and hates on the northern Man.

He accuses him of nepotism.

But that's not nepotism.

That's communalism.

Southerners must understand the difference between nepotism and communalism.

Helping your Brother to succeed is not nepotism.

Southerners just need to learn how to love one another like Northerners do.

Stop hiding opportunities from your people.

This writeup is not about tribalism but about the need to help others when you are in the right position to do so.

Have you ever seen someone treat someone else horribly and receive instant karma?

The suicide bomber who died alone

In 2016, Abdullahi Abdisalam Borleh was a suicide bomber who had explosives in his laptop as he boarded airplane from Somalia,Daallo Airlines.

(First pics) He had come in as someone who had difficulty in walking and he claimed his purpose for travelling was health related.

Twenty minutes after taking off from Mogadishu, Somalia at an altitude of 14,000ft an explosion occurred inside the aircraft. There were 74 passengers and 7 crew members on board.

(2nd pics). The explosion created this opening in the 2nd pics.

He was sucked out of the plane from this opening.(3rd pics)

His intention was to kill everyone on the plane, but as fate had it, He was the only one who died.

He was the only fatality and the plane's controls were unaffected by the blast allowing the pilot able to fly the plane back to Mogadishu safely.

Karma some times works like magic.

A similar thing happened to a man in his early fifties, if you see him you wouldn't believe he had lived in Switzerland for 13 years. We met at my place while waiting for a friend of his in my compound. Although, he is a prolific writer who has written a lot of romance, crime and military stories but he suffered and endured a lot of domestic violence from his then Swiss wife when he was there.

Talking about domestic violence, he said his wife would slap him severally on his cheeks when angry,he would defend himself when the slaps would be unbearable by holding her two wrists but this would be his undoing as she would call the cops on him that he had hit her on her wrists as the region of the wrists held would have turned pinkish because of her fair skin. The Cops would believe her ,arrest, detain and later release him.

On sexual matters, he sleeps with her twice daily even after coming back from work and he must not complain of fatigue else, she calls the cops that her husband was denying her sex. In addition to this, his wife's friends do come to him for sexual romps too which he must not deny them: because his wife had told them of his bedroom skills which they in turn woul come behind her to ascertain for themselves. I asked him how he managed to do this and he said 'my everyday major food then was unleavened bread, whole roasted chicken washed down with a bottle of fresh cow milk because most of their foods were junks'. That the men over there are dependent on Viagra drugs to enhance their man power but the ladies like African men who are loving and naturally good in bed.

Thirdly, he would always serve her tea/ biscuits every morning before he leaves for work while she would still be in bed. He bathes, feeds, clothes and takes their only daughter to the nanny. When he comes back from work, he washes the dirty dishes and tidies the house.

At last, it was his wife that had the cops to arrest him while going to work one early morning. He was arrested in the bus and later deported back to Nigeria. He is married to a Nigerian and blessed with three kids. His then wife still disturbs him till now that she still loves him that she would love to come to Nigeria and meet his Nigerian wife and kids which he bluntly told her there was no way it will happen.

To corroborate his stories, he showed me his wife's, daughter's pics and some of his pics while he was in Switzerland.

Its real.

Nairaland / General / Fake Messi Versus The Real Messi by PENIEL2018(m): 11:10pm On Feb 27, 2021
His name is Reza Parastesh an Irabian man who found an unusual feature that could have led him to his success; His facial similarity with Barcelona star striker, Lionel Mesi. It happened that one day his (Reza's) father

gave him a Barcelona shirt and asked him to take a picture with it. The result was marvelous and hilarious at the same time.

Reza then decided to copy Messi in every possible detail and reportedly slept with twenty-three (23) women with his fake identity.

This got him into trouble with the police many times and earned him the nickname “Fake Messi". Because he wanted to look just

like the star (Messi), Parastesh trimmed his hair and grew a beard just to look and live exactly as Messi.

Even though some of the claims against him have been denounced by the police, Reza also took to his Instagram page which has

more than 1Million+ followers to clear all fake air around him. On an interview he was granted recently, Reza said he hoped and dreamed of meeting with the real Lionel Messi one day.

Below are some pictures of Reza Parastesh and Lionel Messi. Check it out and see the difference;

Nairaland / General / Act Of Ingratitude by PENIEL2018(m): 8:28pm On Nov 20, 2020
While I was admitted some months back at the hospital, something happened and it thought me a valuable lesson I was going to hold onto for a long time.
This woman who nursed her sick husband whose bed was just opposite mine, walked up to me.
She told me she had brought no cups along with her and she needed a cup she could use to bath her husband when he finally wakes up from sleep. She asked if I had any cup available to give her.
I told her I had brought none. The one I brought had been taken home. I do not use cups to pour water on my body. I used my hands. But she could make use of the cup on my water flask if she chose to.
She asked if I was okay with it, and I told her it was fine.
"Just use it. The flask has another cover on it. Use it." I smiled so she doesn't feel somehow about it.
She thanked me and left with the cup. Soon when her husband was awake, she walked him to the bathroom to have his bath, using the flask cup as a fetcher.
Moment later, when her husband was fast asleep again, she returned to me and asked if I had hot water in my flask. She told me they had no flask and her doctors said her husband will have to be drinking warm water always since he had just undergone a surgery.
I told her there was hot water in the flask and I stretched my hands, picked it, and handed it over to her.
I watched as she made tea for herself using the water from my flask, and drank the tea from the flask cup. When her husband was awake, she made him tea in the same cup and handed over to him to drink.
During that period, the flask was always with her and I didn't even bother to ask for it. I noticed her sick husband needed the hot water more than I did. As for me, I was already recovering fast and was just waiting to be discharged.
The day I was to be discharged, I went to the bathroom to take my bath. But then I thought of using the flask cover for the first time. I returned and asked the woman if I could use the flask cover to have my bath. This time, the husband was now awake and staring at me with his eyes wide open.
She told me to pick the cover.
While I turned to leave, her husband called me back.
"What do you want to use the cover for?"
I told him I wanted to use it to have my bath.
"Drop it please." He pointed angrily to the table.
He turned to his wife and scolded her.
"Why will you give him our flask cover to go and bath with? Why? I don't like this attitude of yours please. How will you share my cover with someone I do not know? Do you know the sickness he came with to the hospital?"
I dropped the flask cover on the table without saying a word, and walked to the bathroom. When I was done having my bath, I returned back to my bed and the wife brought the flask back to me. She thanked me for borrowing her the flask.
"At a point I forgot I had even borrowed the flask from you. Thank you so much. Please don't be angry."
I smiled and collected the flask from her. Before she left, she apologised again for her husbands rude behaviour towards me. I told her it was okay and I wasn't feeling bad about it.
When I asked if she had a flask for her husband's tea and hot water, she told me she didn't. But she planned buying one when money comes in.
I handed the flask back to her and told her to keep it.
"Use it for his water. I will buy a new one when I get home."
She was so excited. She thanked me severally, before turning to leave. The husband who laid on the bed, waved and smiled at me.
"Thank you. God bless you. Thank you very much." He smiled excitedly.

I left that hospital with a lesson:
Sometimes we offer help to people who wouldn't do same for us in return if we were in their shoes. We make sacrifices for people who wouldn't think of making such sacrifices for us too.

I have found myself doing things for people who denied me same favour when I needed it most. But that didn't stop me from being good and rendering help when they need it. It shouldn't stop you either.
Don't stop doing the right thing just because they don't do same for you. A good act will always speak for you. It may not come through them, but it will definitely come through someone else.

A group of tourists was visiting a crocodile farm and
they were in a floating structure in the middle of a crocodile lake. The owner of the farm shouted: "Whoever jumps into the water and swims to shore, will receive 10 million dollars. The silence was deafening.
Suddenly, a man jumped into the water. He was chased by crocodiles, but with great luck he was unharmed. The owner announced: "We have a winner!!!".

After receiving his reward, the man and his wife returned to the hotel room. The man tells his wife: "I did not jump in myself ... Someone pushed me !!!"
His wife smiled and said coldly: "It was me!"

Moral of the story:

"Behind every successful man is always a woman to give him a little push to success grin grin" ...

Please, tell your wife not to beat him again. It won't change anything, it will cause more damage to him.

The best thing to do is visit his class teacher, proprietor and explain things to them.

It happened to my daughter while she was in nursery class in her former school; her performance kept on dwindling. I visited her school on a fact finding mission and noticed that her class teacher and teaching methods were the problem. I had to go out in search of another school that had teachers who had gone through colleges of education and have experience in teaching methods. Mind you, my daughter was given oral and verbal tests to ascertain the main problem by her new school proprietor(an educationalist and psychologist). Immediately, she called me and explained what she discovered about her. She was referred back to pre-nursery class and things started to improve for her in the new school.

Do your findings in his School and make your next move.

As a guy, you have always loved different styles of hair braids on your fiancée it always brings out the beauty in her. If per adventure on a weekend, you went out to buy groceries in another area from where you live, rain started and you ran into a nearby beauty salon so as not to get soaked. You glanced around and saw your fiancée in the early stage of fixing braid on her head by one of the hair stylists. You saw that almost 80% of her hair was bald, you couldn't shout her name because you were transfixed on the spot with the hair stylist's method of covering up the bald area.

How will you feel? Will you confront her with what you have seen in the salon? Or rather what will be your reaction or resolve?

Nairaland / General / How To Be A Great Leader by PENIEL2018(m): 1:38pm On Sep 04, 2020
A notable CEO of a company in New York City at a
Tech Company makes a point that if you had hard
times in your family, would you ever consider laying
off one of your children? No, we would never do it.
Then why do we consider laying off people inside our
organisation?

The CEO implemented a policy of lifetime
employment: If you get a job in his company, you
cannot get fired for performance and economic
hardship issues. In fact, if you have issues, they will
coach you and give you support just like we would
with one of our children, who happens to come home
with a P grade from school. Its the complete opposite,
this is the reason so many people have such a
Visceral Hatred sort of anger at some of these
banking CEOs with their disproportionate salaries and
bonus structures. Its not the numbers, it's that they
have violated the very definition of leadership, they
have violated this deep seeded social contract, we
know that they allow their people to be sacrificed so
that they could protect their own interest, or worse
they sacrifice their people to protect their own
interests. This is what so offends and not the numbers, would anybody be offended if we gave a hundred?

Great leaders would never sacrifice the people to
save the numbers, they would sooner sacrifice the
numbers to save the people.

Bob Chapman who runs a large manufacturing
company in the mid west around 2008, was hit very
hard by the recession and they lost 30% of their
orders overnight. Now the large company could no
longer afford their labour pool. They needed to save
ten million dollars, so like so many companies today,
the board got together and discussed lay-offs but Bob
refused.

You see Bob doesn't believe in head counts, but in
heart counts and it's much more difficult to simply
reduce the heart count, And so they came up with
Furlough program: every employee from secretary to
CEO was required to take four weeks of unpaid
vacation. He said' it's better that we should all suffer a
little than any of us should have to suffer a lot". They
saved 20 million dollars. And most importantly as
would be expected when the people feel safe and
protected by the leadership and organisation.

Leadership is a choice, it's not a rank: Many people at
the senior most levels of organisations who are
absolutely not leaders, they are authorities and we do
what they say because they have authority over us,
but we would not follow them. Likewise many people
who are at the bottoms of organisations who have no
authority and they are absolute leaders. And this is
because they have chosen to look after the person to
the left of them and they have chosen to look after the
person to the right of them. This what a leader is.

We call them leaders because, they go first. We call
them leaders because they take the risk before
anybody else does. We call them leaders they will
choose to sacrifice for their people so that they are
safe and protected so their people may gain. And it is
when we do the natural response that our people will
sacrifice for us. They will give us their blood, sweat
and tears to see that their leaders vision comes to life.
And when we ask them why would you do that? Why
would you give your blood, sweat and tears for that
person? They will say the same thing "Because they
would have done it for me". And isn't that the
organisation we would all like to work in?
