So Igbo man stopped the so called Igbo coup?

You will never see the children of hate write about this part of history.

Yes na ๐Ÿ˜‚... It was an IGBO COUP.... but they won't tell you those who foiled the coup were the very same igbo. If they do how agenda wan take agend? ๐Ÿ˜‚

They go blind, deaf and dumb when they get to that point of history. The story of the 1966 coup is no longer sweet when you include the part about IGBO OFFICERS foiling an IGBO COUP ๐Ÿ˜‚. They know their kids will question that part so they pretend it doesn't exist... wink

Unfortunately, their children are too dumb to ask how "handling" a few "igbo officers" turned into the massacre of igbos in the north and a further 3 million in the east.

They are quick to label the igbo as the cause of Nigerias problems forgetting to tell their kids that the igbo had been experiencing progroms in the North as far back as 1945, 20 years before the "igbo coup of domination"... undecided

They gave him less than 50% and he lost SE.

Infact, they are the only region in the South that gave Tofa more votes than Abiola.

I agree with you! But always check the votes as a percentage of the population that voted.

The south east had1.5 million votes in 1993. MKO took 740,000 of those votes (50% essentially) MOST ESPECIALLY WHEN AN IGBO WAS RUNNING ON THE TOFA TICKET.

Look at the popular vote and see a clearer picture.

So Lagos should now be counted as an igbo state then because only Igbos as large population of igbos there.

By your analysis which igbo state is more heterogeneous than Anambra ?

And again to point out that you are destined to perish of foolishness I guess Lagos is not the heart of Yoruba land it is the heart of ipob lunatics heart.

Many of your are born foolish destined to perish as lunatics with how senselessly you argue. Just imagine the audacity of this line of argument by this foolish soul.

Bloody dunce! As usual, like the deluded urchin you are you have missed my point.
Obi won lagos and im saying the reason was because of the large igbo population there otherwise he would have gotten siimilar to his votes in the other SW states.

How difficult is that to understand?

I then went ahead to tell you MKO won in Anambra which is a big deal as Anambra is more homogenous than Lagos. It is dominated mostly by the igbo.

On the contrary Lagos is more heterogenous. It has a very large population of igbos with an even larger , more refined yoruba population( relative to that in the other yoruba states)... FACTORS THAT TILTED the dynamics in lagos in favour of Obi.

My point is that MKO winning Anambra then is akin to Peter Obi winning Oyo or Ogun TODAY!!

Do you understand? Or should I draw pictures for you deluded nitwits undecided

Yes... you gave him 19.5% of your votes. How many did igbos give MKO?

Please stop picking singular actions of igbo elite to represent the igbo.

Go and compare the voting patterns of the igbo and yoruba for our respective candidates in previous elections, then come back.

You're saying the same thing in a different way, Abiola won one state in SE, Obi won one state in the SW, Tinubu won zero state in SE. Stop deceiving yourselves, we are wiser than you.

Ogbeni, you no wise anything. REST! Obi won LAGOS! you know lagos is vastly heterogenous with a large igbo population. That's why Obi won.

MKO on the other hand won in a core igbo state.. ANAMBRA seen as the heart of igboland.
I don't even want to compare the percentage win of abiola in the other Eastern States to Obis win in the other core yoruba states.

Guy, rest... una no wise at all. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Tinubu does not feature here. I am comparing the votes of 2 good candidates from the east and west by people of their region.

In 1993, despite the igbo having a dog in the fight via the Tofa ticket, a non igbo ticket still had an excellent consideration in the south east

I dont expect you t understand sha.. thecthought process is way higher than your paygrade.

Igbos rejected MKO YET he won in Anambra and narrowly lost in the other Eastern States... getting a sizable number of votes in Imo, Abia and Enugu. YET, the yorubas tag the igbos tribalistic.

Which state did Peter Obi win in the west apart from Lagos ? Which core yoruba state did he win in ?
Now compare Obis performance in the south west to Abiolas performance in the south east?

You insult the igbo for giving Obi 90%+ in the elections forgetting the exact same picture played out in 1993.. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ

PS:
The igbo gave MKO almost 50% of south east votes in 1993. (even with the igbo having a dog in the fight through the Tofa ticket)

The Yoruba gave Obi 19.5% of their votes in 2023.

Note that I am comparing Obi to MKO as those were the 2 candidates from each zone that were seen as fantastic candidates by the people of both regions.

This is in response to those who are quick to point to the igbo as being tribalistic giving Obi 90% + of their votes. undecided

I am simply reminding them how the same thing happened with MKO in 1993 and NOBODY made noise about it.

Listen, lies will run for thousands of years ahead but the truth will catch up in a second.

The earlier you all realise that NIGERIA CAN NEVER... AND I MEAN NEVER MOVE FOWARD AS LONG AS YOU CONTINUALLY PUT DOWN THE IGBOS, DENYING YOUR GENOCIDE AGAINST THEM FOR NO GOOD REASON, NIGERIA WILL NOT MOVE FOWARD!!

You are yet to realize it but Nigerias progress is stuck in 1967. You want to move foward? Revisit the events of 1967 - 1970 , and make amends otherwise FORGET IT!

Have we been able to expand the economy by spending all our forex earnings plus loans to subsidize PMS and defend the naira in the last 30 years or so? Thatโ€™s definitely not the way to go. It only leads to debt and economic stagnation. Thatโ€™s why we are where we are today.

First, we need stability. Once we stop spending on subsidies for a sustained period of time, the gains will start accumulating and we can spend on areas of economic development. Infrastructure, health, tech, start ups, msmes, education, agriculture, increased oil production etc.

It is going to take a bit of time. There is no shortcut to it. Even foreign investors will flood in once they see we are finally serious about getting our macro economic priorities right.

๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚... my brother, every serious nation subsidises its energy sector in some way... otherwise we are making no headway but let me understand your thought process.

Removal of Subsidy frees up funds ba? What then is point of subsidy removal when CURRENCY FLOATATION has wiped of its gains?

Why are companies pulling out if the future is bright? Companies that NEVER PULLED OUT during the dark days of the military and some of the worst economic conditions like SAP?

It appears you guys don't understand the impact of the damage of the twin policies of subsidy removal and naira floatation.. ๐Ÿ˜‚

As we donโ€™t have the revenue to keep defending the naira as weโ€™ve seen in the last 12 years or so, letโ€™s keep borrowing to keep petrol prices and exchange rate low.

At the time Buhari was leaving, our debt to revenue was already 97%. If Tinubu did not change course, we would be doing over 110% by now instead of 67%. We would have started defaulting and by now, no one will be willing to borrow us money again.

No one is against defending the naira, the problem is we donโ€™t have the money to defend it. We need to improve and expand our economy to make more money and using all our earnings plus loan to defend the naira and pay PMS subsidy will not expand the economy. At least, it has not done that in the last 15 years.

Buhari did exactly what Peter Obi said he would do for 8 years and we all saw the sorry state of the economy that he left behind.

How do you expand the economy? ๐Ÿค”... where will you get money to do it?

mrvitalis:

developmental economics is very complex but I would use a sector to illustrate for you

Let's take pharmaceutical ;- this is an industry Nigeria can have comparative advantage and dominate at least on the African continent

President, calls the pharmaceutical companies
What do you import that you can produce locally if you have credit And would do you need to expand and dominate the African continent

Say the top 50 companies list their demands and it's say about 3 billion dollars

The president borrows the money at a low interest since nations loans have low intrest of say 1.5% per year

Gives the loan to banks at 3% per year intrest in the condition that they give the loan to the pharmaceutical companies at not more than 7% per year... The government gives banks 5 years zero payment and no interest if they give the pharmaceutical companies same

Now you have pharmaceutical companies with a 3 billon warchest...
Will improve
1) local sourcing of input materials
2) expand production
3) increase revenue
4) they would have to employ more people 10s of thousands
4) their tax payment increase

Government
1) traps the pharmaceutical companies into the tax bracket with more access to their books
2) increase revenue from them
3) their loan repayment is used for debt services
4) job creation surges

The ripple effect is felt across the economy

This is an oversimplification, but imagine this in 15 sectors..... Imagine the employment, money in circulation

I don't understand how this is too difficult for folks too understand abi na the quality of posters wey dey this forum? undecided..

Peter Obi is a corrupt, useless pretender who has no clue how to run an economy.

What did he do as governor of Anambra state apart from building a brewery?

He also refused to pay state doctors for a year. Goodness knows how they survived.

Meanwhile Obiโ€™s personal bank accounts in the Cayman Islands were bulging with millions of dollars of stolen money.

Now he has turned โ€˜Professor of Economicsโ€™, prescribing mass borrowing as the way out, condemning future generations to heavy indebtedness.

As long as they have access to the dollar unlike the days of Buhari when they were strangled and we're at the mercy of the black market.

Exactly my point! Borrow to defend naira and keep it at a level that local companies will find convenient to produce with. That is Obis aim.

The problem all this while is that cheap dollars have gone into consumption and NOT production!
