For eight years, asset managers have tried to launch bitcoin exchange-traded funds, but success seems no closer now than it did in 2013.
The Securities and Exchange Commission said this month it would seek public comment on WisdomTree’s proposal to launch a bitcoin ETF, focusing on whether the fund would be safe for investors. The agency has already sought comment on pitches from at least four other firms: SkyBridge Capital, VanEck, Valkyrie Digital Assets and Kryptoin Investment Advisors.
ETFs promise low fees, tax advantages and relative ease of trading. Their adoption has upended the way stocks, bonds and commodities are traded. At stake are potentially billions of dollars in fees for managers.

Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former governor of Osun State, said Olusegun Obasanjo warned southern leaders in 2015 against endorsing Muhammadu Buhari for the presidency.

Three Israelis shooting a documentary in a separatist region in southeast Nigeria were arrested last week, the Foreign Ministry confirmed Tuesday.
According to media reports, Nigerian authorities arrested and interrogated the trio on suspicion that they had come into contact with Biafran separatists.

The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested one Isma’ila Sani Isah for allegedly posting a blasphemous comment against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on his social media platform.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has said his client would soon be released.

He said the allegations against him were not strong enough to convict him, urging his supporters to be patient and prayerful.

After a 20-year journey, the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) on Thursday crossed a major landmark as the two chambers of the National Assembly considered the reports of their respective committees on the bill.
The beginning of the bill could be traced to the Oil and Gas Reforms Committee (OGRC) constituted by former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration. The report of the committee formed parts of the bill which was first introduced to the National Assembly by former President Umar Yar’Adua’s administration in 2008.

Following the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, the Benue Youth Forum has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to arrest the leadership of the Miyetti groups, Fulani Nationality Movement (FUNAM) and other terrorists who live and dine in cosy hotels in Abuja.
The Youth Forum made the call in a statement by its President, Terrence Kuanum, on Friday.
According to Kuanum, the arrest of the leadership of the Miyetti Allah groups and FUNAM will drastically reduce tension and prove that the President Muhammadu Buhari government is willing to accord justice to all Nigerians at long last.

A Coalition of British lawyers of Igbo extraction has vowed to drag the Kenyan Government to the International Criminal Court, ICC, for detaining Nnamdi Kanu, a British citizen, and subsequently handing him over the Nigerian Government.
The Coalition also gave the Nigerian Government 48 hours ultimatum to release Nnamdi Kanu, return him to the United Kingdom and follow the right process of extradition.
Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, was arrested and detained by Kenyan authorities and was later handed over to the Nigerian Government.
